Oh my goodness, what crazy days my family has been having. Cripes man, life is not settling down. But when one door closes, another opens.

Yesterday, Scott came home with the news that he was getting laid off from the Gaden Center. He knew it was coming, since it is seasonal, but was hoping to make it through the Christmas Tree shopping period. He was given 2 weeks notice and they are keeping him on payroll so if they need him to cover hours, they can call him in, and they want him back in the spring. That was a bit of a mixed bag for him.
But the open door part was that his old boss at the restaurant was in Shop Rite the night before and saw Brendan who works there. He knows that Brendan is friends with Scott, and said that if Scott ever wanted to come back to work, he wanted him. (Did I tell you that last summer he followed Scott one night, high beaming him? When Scott pulled over, he ran out his car and was begging Scott to come back to work). Brendan has said this to Scott before he went to work the morning, and had called his old boss to see if this was still open. He thought he would be able to work both jobs until the end of Dec.
When he found out about being laid off, he went right over to the restaurant, set up his schedule and starts on Tuesday.

The best part for me is that Scott now thinks he is going to stay in school next semester instead of taking it off. I was worried that if he took the time off, it would hard for him to go back.

I also hard a hard time getting the stuff done that I needed to do. I had 4 things, and not one could be accomplished. My first was to pay my Sprint bill since I couldn't do it yesterday. The site was now officially down for technical difficulties. OK, on to the next which was to call the state Medicaid office to see what the application status was. They are closed due to the holiday, which meant I couldn't do #3 which involved the bank. On to the last thing. That was getting Caitlyn's last year's report card so we can maintain her Good Student car insurance discount. We can't long into the school website because she is no longer a student. We have no hard copies of her report cards since they are all digital now. And of course, the schools are closed too. :faint2:

After wasting too much time on all that, I get back to fighting with my computer/printer/tape that is needed to print and label the F-W's products. And heat sealing the foil packets- I have activated charcoal and clay mask dust everywhere! hahaha!!!!! Tell me again why, oh why do I do this to myself every year!!?? :pound:

I can tell you why- Gary and I are already getting orders for the wine bottle holders and I have 4 baskets being ordered from my neighbor. This will help pay for Christmas. I cannot put anything at all on my credit card. Nothing, Nada. Zp. I about cried when I realized how little I can put down on it and it is 99% medical/auto repairs. Dammit why can't it at least be for fun stuff? JK!

My car is going in the shop today, this time for potentially something with my ABS/brakes. A month ago. A Panel Truck ran a stop sign- blew though it totally- but I saw it coming and was able to slam on my brakes or he would have t-boned me at high speed. But since then, my brakes are acting funny, but not the brakes themselves. So while I am very, very glad that I am ok and my car wasn't totaled, it bites that I need to get that fixed.

To say that it is always something-- sometimes seems to be an understatement. ;)

Leah is coming tonight and I am making her favorite, baked macaroni. It will be nice to have an upbeat dinner together. NancyP, Leah is my son's long-term girlfriend whom I adore!

I better get going, Jaida is running around and wants to go outside.
We have 2 dogs (Ravyn and Jaida), 2 cats (Heather aka Catzilla and Floyd) 2 rats (Clover and Muffin, they belong to my DD and are super sweet!) and 2 albino garter snakes (Timber and Patches and they are Scott's). Does Brendan count as part of out Menagerie? He is Caitlyn's long-term boyfriend who got kicked out of his house last year and has been staying with us ever since. He is supposed to be moving back home in Dec as long as his stepfather doesn't give his mom trouble about it. Which is always entirely possible, sad to say.

enjoy your day, I will be back for personals soon!

good morning - well Luther passed his training with flying colors. Can I just say I am one happy mom. He now does heel, sit, sit-stay, and down and she has him down for 20 min but only asks us to have him stay down for 10 min. And to then work the down from in front. She says that by him staying down he is totally accepting that we are dominant to him and we are the leaders of the pack. I went for a good walk and he behaved like a champion. Would that my DH was as good. He went and listened and of course this morning when he took Luther for a walk he did not use the leash or collar that we have been using for training. I feel sorry for Luther. On great news the Captain of my Devils Andy Greene scored in OT on a penalty shot to give my Devils a 2-1 win. My Devils are on a 3 game winning streak. Tonight the two team play again. And I get to have some fun, the Devils have invited some season ticket holders to a forum to discuss how to make the experience at the games better and I am one of the invitees. They are giving me two tickets to an upcoming concert TransSiberian Railroad Christmas concert. They would not have had to give me anything LOL.

Chris car problems are just the worst. Sorry about the brakes but so glad they worked so well to keep you from getting hit! Of course all the government was shut down yesterday just when you have time and patience to get this done. Congrats on the orders for your show. Glad that Scott has a job and one come spring too! How great to be so wanted!

NancyP Interesting take on DT. I will be interested to see just how this goes for some one who has never been in a political job.

Rae I know that I need more light especially driving at night. I hate dusk. I have found that it is best if my son drives to the hockey games but I drive home and my eyes do much better. Not sure if it is because the lights on the highways are brighter than dusk. I find to when I go to bed that it takes awhile for my eyes to adjust but when I get up in the middle of the night I see fine. So glad that your new light set up is working so well. And I really hope a weekend can really make a difference in getting your health back!

Trudy thanks to your son and DIL for their service. Saw you page and it is very special! Glad you had a special morning remember and thanking them for service. How was the Accountant? It does look like a good movie!

Have a great day all!

Super quick since I am really feeling a bit overwhelmed.... I have a boat load of things that need to get done but I don't know where to begin. I started a to-do list but then my brain goes :boom:

nancyP- I loooove your positivity! Hugs back! I am not religious, agnostic with pagan leanings is my best description but-- I appreciate and respect and enjoy hearing of other perspectives. I hope that when and if you feel the need to share here that you are comfortable doing so. I can only speak for myself but when people say that they are praying for me, I am honored by that.
That is a really good way to look at DT- that his need to be the best may just be what
will get us through. My thought on that is that I hope that his goal to be the best is what is best for *all* Americans and the planet. One can always hope. Always. :)
What is your Schnauzer's name? I can't wait to hear stories about him too. Jaida is 1 1/2 years old but she has Patellar Luxation surgery a little over 4 months ago and is just now able to have full run of the house again. She's a Pit/Lab mix and is stubborn as a rock. Ray is our 11 yo on Dec 1 Lab-Mix, and is so happy to have her little bratty sister to play with again. She is the mellowest, mush of a dog I know.

Nancy- thank your son for me too, please. Once a Marine...
That is hysterical that Luther follows the commands while Lorrie is working with the other dog. He is so freaking smart!!! Beautiful, smart and big-hearted- a perfect dog!
Congrats to your sister and the grandbabies! Bet you can't wait to see her and them :)
Thanks for the compliments on the wine holders, I will let him know what you said. It is weird seeing him work on something not Halloween related. He is doing a Clemson Tiger one for his mom right now that will be a gift for her friend.

Rae- oh my goodness, how horrible for the police office. How much fun did Taz and your hubs have at the park? It is another month and a half before Jaida is allowed to go to the park and my then it will be too cold for me. Next year she will be super happy to go back.
Yeah-- always interesting dinner conversations. Poor Ray hates it when we get loud and it is going to be hard for her in the next years LOL
ITA with you about Nancy and Luther, they are a good team.

Trudy- was your Gary all handsome in his red? I know the Fire Dept will be in Full Dress for my dad tomorrow, I guess he will be too? I have to get pictures. I haven't seen my dad in Full Dress since he was Honor Guard at a funeral of a family friend years ago. It is gonna be something! How was the movie?
Hahaha! I am with you, same here with my Gary. Love him but sometimes... :gaah: Sorry to hear that Auntie is going to be in Palliative Care, but my fingers are crossed that she will be able to enjoy the time she has with no suffering. You are the proud honorary Aunt/Big Sister or whatever you want to call yourself to all of our fur-babies!

Happy Saturday ladies... for some reason it feels like a Sunday!! Guess because DH was home all day yesterday. Well we really enjoyed the Movie last night! It was weird because there were only about 20 of us in the theatre. We thought it would be very busy and arrived quite early to get a good seat. LOL The movies was action packed, great sound effects and even a few laughs. A very different role for Ben Affleck! As he plays a character who has hight functioning autism. We really enjoyed the show and the popcorn of course!

Chris - Sorry that you did not get any of your chores that were on your list done yesterday, but I am sure you will work it all in somewhere! How wonderful that Scott is so well respected as a worker!! He must be so happy to not have to worry about employment for his near future! You must be very proud of his work ethics!! DH was not in his red serge this year for the remembrance day ceremony, I was shocked that he did not participate in the parade this year, but his knee is giving him so much trouble lately and I am sure that the damp cold weather is not making it feel any better!! Yes I am a proud Auntie/Big sister to all of your sweet fur babies :becky: How great that you and your Gary are getting orders already!! Wahoo!! I hope you make lots of $$ on your craft sale!! I bet your Dad still looks smashing in his full dress uniform!! Gotta love a man in Uniform!!

Nancy - I knew that your Luther would be the star at graduation!! He is such a smart dog! He has a great owner in you also!! Sorry that your DH is not following along with his training and I hope that it does not confuse Luther at all! Thank you to your son also for his service, he will forever be a Marine at heart and you must be so very proud of him! My Son had to travel way up to the Northern Part of the Island to be part of a special service, so him and his wife were at different places for Remembrance Day.

Ok I am off to make breakfast and then some housework and :washing: today. Have a super day everyone!

Good morning, good morning good morning!!! Once again the sun is shining brightly and its suppose to hit around 58 today! Absolutely CRAZY for this part of Michigan in the middle of November-----but who's complaining!!!
Got all my cookies baked for Shabbot today and looking forward to a wonderful afternoon with dear friends.
Chris, my little doggie's name is Cupcake and she is so sweet. Very quiet and laid back, unless someone walks by the window or comes up on my porch. Then she goes crazy!!! Which, living alone, I LOVE. No one sneaks up on my house!
Nancy, so proud of Luther! I raised Huskies many years ago and they all went to training. We even put them into the competitions. It was so much fun. One of our dogs even learned the hand signals, no voice needed. It actually saved her life one day. She was about ready to run across the road and there was a car coming. My husband raised his arm in the air and let it drop and the dog literally dropped to the ground! Its amazing to see them do this.
Have to keep this short. Need to start getting ready to leave. I wish you all a happy and blessed day!!!!

Good morning, ladies. I've had a good morning. Managed to relax in my chair with a coffee, read a bit of my book and got some laundry done. Darrell is steam cleaning the carpet now, as I've finished dusting and he vacuumed. Good to get the housework out of the way. Typing is going a bit slow right now as I'm typing without the use of my left pinkie. When trying to get the seal off a new bottle of stain remover, I sliced the scissors across the top of my finger. Jeez, I am a walking accident sometimes lol. It's a clean slice, not too deep so once the bleeding slowed I was able to put some New Skin liquid bandage sealer on it, so am letting that dry now before I start editing and getting some desk work done. I love the liquid bandage stuff, so much better than a bandaid.

Caught up on Blacklist last night, the last 4 episodes were really good. Can't wait for it to resume again in the new year. Blacklist redemption starts up in January so am curious to see how that does. I didn't tape Hawaii 5-0 last night as I thought it was Saturday and forgot to set up the PVR LOL. No biggie, as I can miss a few shows and not fall behind in their storyline, it isn't too much character driven.

Darrell enjoyed seeing Taz at the park yesterday, playing with the other dogs and meeting a few of the regulars. We then went to the pet store so I could get some food and treats for him but his fave part is visiting the animals and he was whining to play with the bunnies. He met lots of other dogs there and just had a blast prancing through the aisles, sniffing everything and playing with the toys. He loves cat toys with the feathers. I don't give him more than a few seconds with a toy though b/c I don't want him to damage anything, but mostly he just wants to touch them, give them a sniff and then moves on. It's like sensory overload for him.

Chris - glad to hear that Scott got his old job back for now, what good timing. Have a wonderful dinner tonight with Leah over. Also, am sending positive vibes for the car repair to not be too costly.

Trudy - I want to see that movie too. Looks good. Sorry to hear you DHs knees kept him from wanting to participate yesterday but best he limit activities he knows will bother his knees too much. I know Darrell has a hard time on cement for too long and some days comes home from work and has to soak in the tub with epsom salts to help the ache. I don't mind getting older but sure hate all the health issues that start to come up. I can no longer remember what it felt like in my 20s and 30s to not have back or shoulder pain and endless energy. Oh well....at least my mind is still work....for now :)

NancyP - 58°, how nice! Do you still have that glorious fall color? I still miss fall in Ontario/Michigan as I grew up in Windsor and spent a lot of time travelling thru Michigan and northern Ontario in the fall. The colors were amazing. On the west coast of BC we don't get color like that.

I'm getting out of here now, my finger glue has dried and I can get back to editing and working again for the day. So glad it's only Saturday and I have today and tomorrow to get things done. Plus the extra sleep I'm getting is helping me to feel a bit better too. Slept til almost 9 this morning.

Have a wonderful day, everyone. I'll check in later this afternoon.

It is a sunny Sunday here, and it won't be too cold either. Looks to be a perfect day to celebrate my dad! Can you tell how proud I am?? He is always so laid back and unassuming when it comes to things that he has done, it is a really nice opportunity to see him honored in this way.
Gary isn't coming with us which I knew would happen but still makes me sad.On the plus side of that is that we will all fit in one car. That is a huge plus because mine is in the shop, and Scott's is filled with pumpkins. Literally. Filled with pumpkins. Back seat, trunk. Filled.:becky:

He comes home from work last night and tells us that he has something to show us outside. We walk over to his car, he opens the door and there are pumpkins *everywhere.* Several rolled right out onto the ground. Has to be more than a hundred. 200? No idea. He has a CRV, so there is a decent amount of room, it isn't like a little hatchback. They were getting rid of them, end of the season so they gave them to him as a going-away present.
I am going to try to get pictures on my cell phone of it. It is really funny and God only knows how much I need laughter!

While they were waiting for dinner to be finished, he and Leah went outside and smashed a bunch of them. She would toss one to him and he would hit it with a bat. They sledgehammered a few. The birds and squirrels are going to be so happy!! Scott has a long time friend who does that typical guy stuff of smashing things and he calls him. " Ian, what are you doing next Sunday?" "Got to go back to school." "I have pumpkins to smash." "What time should I be there?"
:pound:

My family is totally off their rockers.
Case in point: Yesterday I put the skeleton in Gary's shower. Then, Gary had it watching out the window. Today, it is on the treadmill, thanks to Caitlyn.
Bonkers. Stark raving mad.

 Gary woke up just now, asked if I had seen the bathroom. I peek into the bedroom from where I am sitting and the skeleton is gone. He is sitting on the toilet reading Weird NJ magazine. Nuts! All of us!!!!

I should get in the shower before everyone wakes up. I have to wash my hair and let it air dry curly so I don't want to leave the house if it still wet.

I hope that my little stories make you smile a bit. If I ever lose my sense of humor and my family's ability to make me LMBO, I don't know what I will do.

xoxoxo!!!!

Out of the shower and now I smell fresh and pretty and my toilet bowl does too.I reached under my sink to grab a new bottle of conditioner and noticed a shampoo bottle on its side, leaking everywhere. Any idea how hard to clean up a half of a bottle of shampoo in, inside of a cabinet? Ever frugal, I scraped the shampoo onto a piece of cardboard and dumped into the toilet bowl then used it to scrub it clean. hee hee!!

Sooooper quick personals-

Nancy- No surprise there for Luther! i think that is one of the things that R and J have trouble with. So much chaos and people in and out of my house, I don't think they really know who is "leader." I am not 100% sure of how to get it back either. Hopefully, DH will get more on board with what you are working. That sounds like a fab bonus with the TSO tickets!
My eyes stink too, I have no depth perception at night, never have and most likely never will.

Trudy- nice to hear that the movie was good and that you had a nice time. That is my kind of theater audience , even though there would be a 999999.9999% chance that the tallest person int here would sit in front of me LOL
Thank you for admiring Scott's work ethic, he really busts his butt and his bosses know it.He doesn't give himself enough credit.

NancyP- yes for sunshine! Did it get that warm by you? It wasn't bad here although very windy. Gary told the dogs that they could go for a ride when we took the cars down to the shop. Of course, they were in the car with me and Jaida is a maniac. She ended up jumping into the front seat so I opened the window for her to stick her nose out and stay put a bit. Thankfully, it wasn't too cold and Cait has heated seats. And no, She didn't stay put although she would Sit when I told her too and then would promptly slide off of the leather seat when I went around a curve. :D
I *wish* we could get Jaida to not bark her head off when anyone walks past but ITA- no one will come into our house uninvited.

Rae- ouch! Hope your finger is feeling better. Be careful! I am, cleaning my house on Monday (oooh, that's tomorrow! Ugh!) but am looking fwd to that. How cute of Taz in the pet store. I can see him prancing around! We have been all caught up onthetV shows too, but the NCIS's are going to be back this week so that will fill the DVR for a while.

hugs to all!

good morning - today is my oldest son's birthday. He did not want to go out he bought ribs and is smoking them. How cute is that. So my DH made a birthday cake - Boston cream pie - all from scratch. Yesterday was so fun. Went to the focus group and it was what women like about hockey, the arena and live events in general. It was fun and there was a wide variety of ages so it was interesting to hear everyone's comments. So I got upgraded tickets and this cracks me up - they were two rows in front of my DIL's seats. That was fun. We also ate in the restaurant and had the buffet and it was so good. My son and DIL really used the buffet. That was awesome. But of course the best was my Devils won 4-2 for their 4 win in a row. They are defeating teams below them in the standings so the real test will come next week when they play the Stars and all the Cali teams. But happy to see wins! Luther is awesome on his walks with me. We saw a cat and one no with his new collar and it was just bark and on we went. Yippee! Was a super good walk as it was quiet and cool but not too cold. And now he is at the dog wash. And I can so see how he has learned not to jump. He did not jump on the nice young woman who baths him. I was so proud.

Chris you and your skeleton just crack me up. How fun that all this happens when no one is noticing. I would not think that is possible. Have a super great time with your Dad - such an honor and so deserving! Take lots of photos. I also want to see all those pumpkins!

NancyP glad you got your baking done. Amazing to hear it is that warm in Michigan. I remember when we lived in Madison how cold it was in Nov. Your dog sounds adorable. Also fun to have a real life alarm system.

Trudy I guess I am going to have to put that movie on my watch list. The best part of going to the movies is the popcorn.

Rae OMgosh I hope your pinky is better today! My DH is much more accident prone. I will have to look into this liquid bandaid. Seems much better. I see them use it on hockey players when they have been cut. I bet your are enjoying the clean house.

Have a great day all!

Hey ladies... guess what?? It's :rain: again!! No surprise really LOL! Yesterday we had a great visit with my brother and SIL. They told us all about their trip and how much fun they had. They were happy to be back home though and to sleep in their nice big bed again!! Brother told me that he had to have surgery, to remove his wife from his hip :becky: they have been joined at the hip for over two months going everywhere and doing everything together. What a joker!! :pound: They are the best of friends however and a match made in heaven so they had the best time together! They loved their visit with Heather, Jonah and Mason and I was so glad to hear that they thought that Heather was such a good mommy!! They all cried when they left, my daughter is not very good with good-byes so this did not surprise me. They laughed because Mason would not call them Auntie Veronica and Uncle Tom, he gave them his own special name of Uncle and Auntie Shell. Where the heck he came up with that for a name who knows :noidea: What a character.

Chris - Your family is riot!! Skeletons on the toilet and pumpkin smashing!! What fun!! I hope you have a great time at your Dad's celebration!! Ugh on the shampoo spill, it is not fun to clean that mess up!

NancyP - Wow how great that you are having such fabulous weather!! Enjoy every minute of it because you know it won't last forever LOL! You little fur baby sounds really cute, and nice that you have a built in alarm system for your house :becky:

Rae - Ouch!! don't you just hate those awful cuts to the ends of your fingers!! They are the worst and it really makes you notice just how much you use those digits!! Hope that you continue to enjoy a nice quiet weekend! Yes getting older with all the aches and pains that go along with it is the pits!! I woke up last night with my stomach hurting like crazy and now this morning it feels like I have pulled a muscle on the side of my tummy, it is very annoying and I can't figure out how on earth I could have hurt myself?? I will go to the doctor if it does not feel better in a day or so, I don't need to be hurting right now or wondering what the heck is wrong with me before I go to Mexico. Your Taz is just the cutest!! I bet he keeps you smiling all day long!!

Nancy - I was saying last night to my DH that I bet Nancy is one happy Devils Fan with that 4th win in row!! How nice that you got such great seats and funny that they were right in front of your DIL's. Luther continues to make you proud! What a great dog he is! To think that at one time you never wanted to have another dog!!

Ok I am off to make some waffles for breakfast today and then I told my DH that I am working on Calendars today and nothing else!!! I need to get these done soon to get out in the mail for DD. Have a great Sunday everyone and do something you love today!!

Good morning ladies. It's raining out which is fine with me, I'm not going out today except maybe a quick trip to the grocery store. I had a quiet night, ended up watching a bunch of Criminal Mind shows so we are caught up on that too now. I was going to scrap last night but my computer did a 3 hr windows update. It finally finished at 10:30 but by then I was too tired to care. Got a fair amount of editing done yesterday so feel like I should be close to finishing it up today which will be nice. That'll be the last of the editing which I'm so looking forward to. Then I want to start organizing photos, applying a quick edit on them and getting jpegs into the online storage. It never ends LOL.

Chris - you guys are too funny with the skeleton positions! Awesome about the pumpkin score, can you use them for any recipes? Soup maybe? Roasted pumpkin seeds (love those)? Hearing about Scott's fun with the pumpkins made me think of our friends that moved away to the BC interior a few months ago (the ones with all the dogs that I've shown pics of before), they had a pumpkin carving party with their new neighbors, so they had tons of pumpkins and afterwards they lined up outside and had smashing and air gun shooting fun with. I would have loved to have been there to take pics LOL. Enjoy the celebration today too.

Nancy - happy b-day to your son. Boston cream pie sounds delicious. I haven't had that in years. It used to be one of my faves. BTW, yes, the liquid bandage is so much better than a bandaid. I find I do need two coats of it and you have to let it dry in between coats so it takes about 15 minutes so apply both coats which is a hassle but it's so much better to function without a bulky bandaid getting in the way. My cut is healing up nicely. I'll put another coat on tomorrow and then it should be fine. The other thing I like is clear Steri-Strips. They are for bigger cuts but not so big or deep that you have to get lots of stitches but for cuts that require maybe just a few stitches, it works perfectly, gives you a nice tight scar almost as good as stitches. My knowledge of these things is indicative of how klutzy and accident prone I am and how often I need these things LOL.

Trudy - hope you get your calendars done today. It reminds me I want to maybe get started on my challenges for next month. It would be nice to not have to rush like I normally do to get them done LOL. Yum....waffles....love them. I have GF ones I like and just got a recipe for homemade GF ones I want to try. I haven't used my waffle maker in ages. I should get it out.

I'm out of here ladies....off to get editing done (hopefully finished today) and get a bit of desk work done too. I also need to go take frozen bananas out for GF muffins later. Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Today is sunny, mid-50s, still a fair amount of foliage color so we went birding in the countryside. Wonderful day!

Chris, my all-time favorite band names are Smashing Pumpkins and Blind Melon (not the bands, just the names!) I too love the skeleton stories, sounds like a total hoot. Super for your Dad, hope it was a swell time.

Rae, missing the Hawaii 5-0 show won't disrupt the overall story, but it had a nice storyline. I watch it (and all my other TV shows) online. Just go to cbs.com. Sure hope the pinkie is healing and you are continuing to feel better.

Nancy, what fun with the Devils! Sounds wonderful. More congrats on Luther and his learning success.

Trudy, did you make it through the calendars? Rainy day after waffles sounds like a good time for them.

NancyP, hope you too are enjoying our unexpected mid-November!
