A big, heartfelt thank you to all of our Vets and a sincere Remembrance to all who have served.

It was a long day yesterday. And not a good one either. Between the exhaustion and the pain and the cold, I was kind of miserable. I guess it showed because my mom called me this morning to ask if I was ok. Apparently, my family is even more worried about me. She said that I looked lost. She knows that I have money and health worried but wanted to make sure that is all that was going on-- what she knows about. I said yup- that is all that it is and left it at that. There is no need for her to know that the money and health is a little more than they know. Bwuahahah!!
She also said that she wants me to ask when I need help. But honestly, how much more can I ask for? They gave Scott money so he could afford a car, heck they gave me their old car... My mom makes me dinners so I don't have to cook. I am freaking 49 and I should NOT have to rely on my elderly parents for help. Dammit!

:sorry:
I let that get the best of me, didn't I?

It is amazing how the weather changes destroys me. But what can you do? I am wearing my fuzzy socks and my mouse face slippers. The little yarn ball ears are very attractive to W however and she is trying to nibble them. Cuz why not? :pound:

I am just planning on doing nothing today. I have to recuperate. Do you think that I can do it?

Have a super day!

Morning everyone and a big huge Thank you to our Vets and all those that serve in the military! Each and everyone are heroes!!!

Chris - Awww sweetie, I wish I could give you the biggest hug! I know how horrible it must be to struggle with finance and health issues, my DD has her good days and bad days too! Don't feel bad about accepting help from your parents, they mean well and only want you to be happy and healthy! Please just take it easy today and keep warm in your cozy slippers and perhaps the puppies will bring a smile or two to your pretty face. I hope that the cold weather goes away soon, although I am sure it will be around for a couple of months, but perhaps maybe not quite so cold?

Not much going on here today, I finished another calendar page yesterday and then checked all of other ones for correct birthdays and other important dates. One more to go and I will be done in record time this year! Then maybe I will finally get some mojo to do some other scrapping? It sure isn't happening for me so far  Anyway have a great weekend everyone! I will check in with the rest of you a bit later on.

Good morning, ladies. Taz got me up at 7 so I enjoyed some quiet time with my coffee and book before D got up. I can't believe this year that I'm actually becoming a morning kind of person, getting up earlier and going to bed earlier.

Chris - hugs. I'm not surprised that things catch up with you sometimes. I think its healthy to acknowledge and wallow in it sometimes. Then you move forward. You always seem to do that. You have a strength and resolve that I really admire. Don't feel shame for help from your family. If they are able to help, let them. I would not want my children to feel bad about help from me, if I give it, it is b/c I can and I want to. That's what family does.

So, I'm on day 2 of my switch back to carb (glucose) burning rather than fat burning. I still feel weird. It's manageable but I'll be glad when the transition is done. I enjoyed dinner last night with lots of mushrooms fried in ghee, and spaghetti sauce with a salad loaded with tomatoes, probably twice as many carbs as I would normally eat on keto. I'll be reading and watching videos throughout the wkend to become more knowledgeable about the paleo diet. I had goat feta cheese with my salad and I was shocked how yummy it was. I am not going to miss cows milk feta at all. This wkend I will make paleo mayo and ranch dressing.

We're heading out to Costco in a bit, for groceries. I like to get there when they first open and become crazy busy.

Chris - I smiled at W trying to nibble your slippers LOL. Taz paws at my ugg-like slipper boots, wanting to get at my socks so he can pull one off (then we trade for a treat).

I hope everyone has a great day. I'm off to grab another coffee, then shower & dress so we can go shopping.

I don't know why I'm acting like that this month. I hear the alarm this morning, but instead to get up and scrap, I turned it off and get additional hour of sleep. Even I was go to the bed early yesterday. I'm read only at one day this week, and I was hoping to knit a scarf for my sister for the Name day present, but is still long only 10 centimeters (hmm, maybe for Christmas). I took every my time hour for adional sleep. And I really don't have other explanation, except the cats which are very lazy these days and probably I mimicry their behavior subconsciously. I really have to be more productive next week, but now is weekend so  ...

Oh, Chris, hugs my dear! It's pretty normal to feel these money difficulties at at this time when the holidays started. Aren't most of you at the same situation right now :ballchain: ?!(Me with sure.) Don't put this additional stress on yourself, you really have to be more careful for your health! For all other you will find decision, I'm sure! Hug your fur kiddos, and wait on warm for better tomorrow!
But be careful with W, my tiny dog eat the nose of one bear toy.

Trudy, so good that you are back to your scraping mojo!

All other girls, I left you personal notes in my yesterday post.

Trudy - cross-posting with you (again). That's great that you are ahead of schedule on the calendar. I'm sure your scrappy mojo will be back but in the meantime don't worry about it, do some other projects (like your woodworking).

Nancy- it is brutal with the wind and temps being so cold. How fun for Luther to have so many Shepards to play with, I bet that they were quite a sight together.
Yesterday W started limping and toe touching on her back leg which gave me flashbacks to J when we first found out about her knee and subsequent surgery. we kept her in her crate most of yesterday and she is better today. I think it has to because of how rough she and J play together. Does that happen with Luther at all?
Hope that the Devils get out of the losing streak tonight. Stay warm today too!

Trudy- I am sorry that you slept so poorly too. Believe me, I get that! Hope last night was much better for you. Did you get a calendar page done? It took me forever to do my dad's cars and all I did was copy an old card, rotated it, and changed the word art.
I went to Paris when I was in HS with my French class and I was too young to appreciate any of it. I would love to go back now to fully enjoy it.
So great at how excited your DS is too.
Do I dare ask what fingerling monkeys are or should I just be grateful that my kids are too old for them? LOL

Rae- that is fantastic news about the Dr visit! Goodluck switching over to paleo. My brother is doing a diet similar to that right now and I hope that it helps him. He is very overweight and I worry with Diabetes and Heart Disease in my family.
keep us updated on how you do on it.
Poor Taz that he got bitten by a tick. Do you get the Lyme vax for him? We do for our girls and we also use Frontline. Did the Dr put him on abx? I would think that with a bullseye he would but maybe it is just a wait and see?
I want some of your scrap mojo please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Jean- I can't imagine being outside for any period of time to watch birds in this weather. I am happy that you have your snow plow contract but maybe we will be lucky and get very little snow.
Caitlyn and I said the same last week on our hike- crazy that there were still blooms on some of the plants in the gardens by the Manor.
BTW- Cait loved your description so much that she put it in her Twitter Bio. She said to say thanks!

Felis- I hope that your roses make it through a freeze ok, all of the plants must be so confused with the weather. Glad you spent time in the garden, that always makes me feel better.
Thank you for the wax melt suggestion- I am always up for new ideas. Sometimes one idea will trigger another new one.
Scott really enjoyed the Reservation and was able to walk around and identify a lot of the rocks that he saw. This is for his geology class that he has struggled with a bit so he was happy to see that he is learning more than he thought. Monday they are going to a State Park near the school so he will be outside in nature again. That is what he likes.
A little tick fact is that they can live year round. We are bad pet owners and we don't usually put the Frontline on the dogs in the winter but our vet tells us that we should.
Your one dog sounds like my BIL's. He was a stray and is very uncomfortable around people and being inside. They would try to keep him in but he kept escaping. Now they keep him outside and he is very content to live under their deck. if I didn't know them better I would be concerned about abuse or neglect. They have tried everything but this is the only way he is happy and calm.

may the sun shine for you all!

good morning I too want to think all the Vets and especially my son. Well it is below freezing for the first time this fall. My DH took Luther out and they had a great time with the ice. And he does not seem to be too bothered by the cold. Today is filled with a BBQ at my son's and then hockey at night. My youngest son is cracking me up. He went to the grocery store to get stuff he knew I needed. And now he is outside raking leaves. Yesterday was a do nothing day. Got some scrapping done so that is great.

Chris some days you just need to take the day off. Glad you made it through the dinner. Take today and it makes me smile to hear about W wanting those ears.

Trudy that is awesome that you are almost finished with your calendar!

Rae how sweet to have some time of your own for coffee and your book. I am sorry I missed it but did you say why you are going back to more carbs. Good luck at Costco.

Jean and Felis waving hi!

Got up early (for me) and went online for talks being given at a meeting in Arlington, Virginia. The group discusses the genealogy computer program I use and the first talk was on recording DNA match data which I have been thinking about a lot. It was very interesting. The second talk was good too. Now DH is watching Ohio State football which, so far, is going much better than last week. It is sunny out and while it started cold is now above freezing. Lots of ideas rattling around in my head for both genealogy and scrapping, but I have to get it together long enough to actually do some of them. Hopefully.

Thinking of veterans today, living and lone gone, we owe you so much. Wishing we could not create any more but we keep the fighting going.

Chris, tell Cait she's welcome! I'm so pleased she likes the description. So sorry yesterday was the train wreck you predicted. Since your parents don't know how dire things are, I don't think you can prevent them doing everything they can for you even though I know you hate needing it. Some of it works for them as it makes them feel good that they can do it. Remember they love you! Take today off please and hug the fur babies. And glad to hear Scott is doing better with geology than he thought. I never took a class in it, but with two geologists in the family have had a lot of exposure over the years. It really is cool.

Trudy, so, like Chris asked, what are fingerling monkeys? Guess we should Google it, but more fun to see what you'll tell us. Hope you've got that last calendar page done and gone on to more scrapping.

Rae, sounds like fun getting to eat different things with the paleo diet. Hope that all goes well.

Felis, I too think you must need that extra hour of sleep. What's wrong with sleeping like a cat in the winter? Though it would be good to finish that scarf. Hope you and all the fur babies have a great weekend.

Nancy, that'll be great with the BBQ and a hockey game. Sure hope they win this time. What has happened to younger son? He's doing all this good stuff.

Good weekend vibes to all.

LOL ok for all of you that are wondering what the heck fingerling monkeys are here you go...
156693_2.jpg
They are a silly little toy Created by WowWee, Fingerlings are baby animals that cling to a child's finger, make cute noises and and react to sound, motion and touch. And stores, of course, cannot keep the tiny plastic critters in stock.

Happy Sunday to you all! Did everyone enjoy their Saturday? I kinda did. It was a very lazy day. I did literally no housework. I scrapped a LO for the 52 Inspirations challenge that Rae is hosting. I complained a bit about the weather. And Cait and I got into a fight.
:( We are all better now. She was in a mood and I wasn't feeling well and it was a bad combo. She is very worried about Muffin and the surgery on Tuesday. After we worked things out, I said I should have realized that was where the mood was coming from and that I think the last time we fought was right before Clover's surgery. We rarely ever fight so when we do, even if it just being crabby with each other, it hurts.

Today, I need to catch up on laundry and prepare myself for the week ahead. I need a personal trainer but for organizational skills rather than exercise ;)

I am seeing some tiny steps with Kib being more "used" to Whisky. She is starting to come out from under the bed on occasion. There is still quite a bit of barking and hissing when they see each other and she will somehow manage to squeeze her very large body behind my desk where W can't get at her. I wish I could remember how long it took for her and J to become friends.

I think it is going to warm up a tiny bit today-- mid-40*s. Still very cold, but better than it was. I wish that my back wasn't still hurting so much. I would love to get a little more of the leaves raked. My dad is coming up one day next week to help with the leaf blower, but I try to get at least some of them raked to the back so we just have to blow them into the woods behind my house.

Sending love and sunshine to all of you! xoxo

So I have a lot to catch up on from yesterday. You were all very chatty!

Trudy- how did you calendar pages come out? Got the right info on them? I had an album printed for my SIL and there was a typo that I missed and man, that killed me. I can only imagine what I would do if I had a date wrong.
Thank you as always and always for the hug and the sweet words.I know that you understand what I go through seeing how Heather goes through similar situations and emotions. My puppies did make me smile and I chose one of the happiest photos I could find of W to scrap and that made me smile even more.

Rae- I wish that my dogs would get used to the time change- R starts wanting dinner at 4 pm since they are used to eating at 5. And it isn't like they don't get breakfast so she isn't starving :hungry: But at least they don't wake me up too early.
I never understood how you could stay up so late. Funny how that is changing. How are you feeling after eating some carbs?

Felis- Sounds like your body is telling you to rest. You sound a lot like me and as the days get shorter and darker, I get more introspective. And lazy
Yeah, I struggle with money even more at this time of year. I add pressure on myself that I need to make a lot of Christmas gifts and always feel like I am behind schedule. I wish I knew how to knit. I can crochet, not that good, but I can. But I feel like I don't even have any ideas on what I could make for people doing that.

Nancy- Thank your son for me, too! It is weird now that my dad is more open about being a vet. I knew as a kid he was in the Nat'l Guard but didn't realize that he enlisted and then re-upped. This year was the first I heard that he went to a Vet's "Service" at Christopher's school. My FIL is a Marine and we never did anything for him either.
That is awesome that DS is shopping and raking for you. Good job!

Jean- that sounds very interesting doing the talks online, awesome that it really got you inspired. I agree-- wish we weren't creating more vets. Seems like that will never end.
Thank goodness for my puppies, they really make me happy. And Cait's rats too, I wish I could remember what Muffin did yesterday that had us laughing. My entire house is a bunch of Delightful Nonsense. LOL
Hope that it warms up nicely by you too. I am happy to see the sun shining at least.

T- those fingerlings are cute but again-- I am very glad that my kids have outgrown things like that! hahaha!! Good luck on finding them!

good morning - whew it is above freezing. Just got back from a walk with Luther and it was not as bad as I expected. In fact it was so so quiet. It was lovely. Birds were chirping and leaves are just so pretty. My son's BBQ was awesome. He makes the best BBQ sauce and pulled pork. It was so cold. They had the fire pit going but I was a wimp and also I did not want to smell like a fire pit at the hockey game so I was inside a lot. Found out today my son and some of their friends are doing the chip challenge. Apparently there is this corn chip which has this topping that is the hottest and so they are going to see if they can eat this one chip. Yes each box comes with just one chip. They come in a coffin. You are to have a glass of milk handy when you give in. They say the smell is something too! My DIL said she would video so that should be something to see. And my hockey team won. It was close a 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers. So that was fun. Took my youngest son and he get so into the game yelling at the refs for their bad calls as if they could hear him. The funniest was when a Panther went to the penalty box they played the song from the Pink Panther movies. My team flew out last night after the game to Chicago where tonight they play the Blackhawks. The Blackhawks played last night in Carolina so both teams will be playing the second game. Yesterday three red-tailed hawks were flying around my neighborhood that was really cool. Today is hockey and football.

Chris glad that you are feeling better today. I know that it hurts to fight we our kids but sometimes it just does happen. But knowing you two I am sure you two worked it out. And she has to be worried about her mice.

Trudy those little monkeys are so cute. I can see why they would sell out especially if the move to sounds. Congrats on making the last critical check of your calendar. I try hard when I go to print to check for misspellings but I still miss a few even with spell check and in my family they understand.

Rae my son is having the same problem with his dogs not used to the time change. Interesting that you are now going to bed earlier. Now that I am retired and don't have to get up before dawn I stay up much later.

Felis if your body says it needs the sleep it really does need the sleep. I know it is hard to get out of bed when I feel so cozy in bed. I am now looking forward to Dec 21 which is when the days will start to get longer.

Jean wow how fun to take your on-line classes. Sounds like you are learning a lot.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. Had a wonderful lazy day yesterday. We went to Costco in the morning and there was no lineup when we went to pay (that almost never happens LOL). Then home to relax, watched Daddy's Home so we'll be ready for the new comedy that was just released. Watched another silly comedy Horrible Bosses 2 which was funny but I didn't need to watch intently so was able to do a lot of reading about paleo. Then went onto my PC and watched some youtube vids about it. There's a woman whose youtube channel I follow whose latest video was all about switching over from keto to a paleo diet. She said that her mom, dad and her had all had great success on keto (since November so a few more months more than me) but that her dad started having increasing cholesterol number (like me) and that she had reached her goal weight (like me) so they decided to switch over to a paleo low carb diet. So I'll enjoy continuing to follow her as she seems to be in line with what I am thinking.

I still had headaches, dizziness and fogginess yesterday which came in waves off and on throughout the day. I wasn't surprised though, my body was going thru a metabolic change and I had quit dairy. Today I feel fine. I enjoyed a cabbage/chicken/pepper stirfry last night and tonight I'm having salad with a salmon burger with homemade mayo/tartar sauce. I'm so glad I did keto, I had great success and it taught me so much about low carb, so tweaking into a paleo diet is going to be so easy.

Today I'm going to scrap, watch more videos and shows, and putter around the house. First though, I'm popping out to a xmas craft fair and get a few more groceries.

Chris - glad you are feeling better mentally but hope your body feels better too. I was thinking of C yesterday as we were in the pet store watching a cute little rat peek out at us from his blanket. D and I were both enchanted by this little fellow. No wonder she was feeling out of sorts and is worried about the surgery.

Trudy - fingerling monkeys are cute.

Nancy - Taz is starting to adjust but still is looking for dinner a bit early, wanting to eat about an hour before us. I've always noticed that our dogs have to adjust to the time change, just like us. BBQ sauce and pulled pork sounds so yummy. Enjoy the game tonight.

Jean - sounds like a great online class for you and you're enjoying it.

Felis and everyone else - hope all is well.

I'm getting dressed and heading out to the craft fair now. Have a great day everyone.

Good afternoon everyone! I have had a very busy morning of cleaning and :washing: but its all done and my house is spic and span!! OMG that's an old saying isn't it!! LOL showing my age!! We are heading out this afternoon to Victoria and going to use up a couple of our free movie passes to see "Murder on the Orient Express" should be a nice date night! Lots of great reviews on this movie and so many great actors/actresses. We have booked our Air B&B apartment in Paris I am so excited!! July just won't come fast enough! Now I have to concentrate on Christmas and try not to talk too much about our trip while DD is here, I feel a bit guilty that she can not come with us.

Chris - A nice relaxing day for you yesterday! That is awesome! Sorry that you and Cait had a bit of a tiff, but it is totally understandable that she is upset about her cute little pet having surgery! I hope that all goes well! My calendar pages are turning out really nice, but this last one is going to take me forever!! I can't decide what photos to use for it, but it will come to me eventually, its nice that I have plenty of time to finish it off. You are lucky you don't have to look for these silly gifts for your kids, but just wait, the grandkids will all want something that will be impossible to find!! :becky:

Nancy - Nice to hear that the freezing weather has moved on! So much nicer to go out for a walk in the milder temps! A fabulous day for you yesterday with BBQ, hockey, a few laughs and the sighting of the Red Tail Hawks! Don't be surprised if the refs did hear your son yelling at them, my DH ref'd hockey for years and he often heard some of the horrible things people would say to him LOL ! Its all part of the fun!

Rae - You will have to let me know how you like the Paleo way of eating, although I would not like to give up the dairy!! It would be nice to be able to use things like honey again. I still love Keto and would like to drop a few more pounds, so not quite ready to change my way of eating right now. Enjoy your lovely day of scrapping and watching movies etc. Last night DH and I watched the last couple of episodes of Stranger Things 2. We just loved it! Now a long wait for the next one :mmph: Looking forward to watching Outlander tonight, but will have it pvr'd for later. I might ask a huge favour of you?? The next time you are across the border and if you are out shopping I would love it if you could look for a couple of those dam fingerlings for me. I would of course pay whatever they cost and also the cost to have them mailed to me. But only if you are out and about shopping.

:hello: to you Jean and Felis, I would love to catch up with the two of you, but I have to get ready to go to Victoria and I am not looking forward to the drive on the Malahat in this pouring :rain: Have a lovely Sunday everyone!!

When I thought I could post, my battery was low but I wanted to continue sitting with DH watching football, so now it's charged back up. Now we're smelling a pot roast in the crockpot. I want dinner time to hurry up with those good smells. Nothing exciting happening today but it was warmer!

Chris, hope today was still OK and you got things done without being wiped out. Poor Cait having to worry until Tuesday.

Nancy, love the Pink Panther thing! I see the Devils are leading their division, so that's nice. Didn't realize the Blue Jackets and Penguins are also in that division. Good luck in Chicago. Sounds like a nice walk with Luther and seeing red-tails.

Rae, how nice you found someone else in about the same keto to paleo place. Hope you feel better soon, but I'm sure you will.

Trudy, thanks for the fingerling monkey info. They do look adorable and maybe perfect for kids. Good luck with finding some! I'm sure your last calendar page will come together and be great. Hope you are enjoying the movie. Would love to hear your opinion. Keep dry and warm.
