Rainy days and Mondays and all that...

20002095.png

I slept fine until 3 am but was restless and all stiff and achy from then on. I am feeling more than a little sluggish ATM. I was busy almost all day and exhausted by the time we sat to watch some TV after dinner. I thought I'd sleep like a rock, especially since I found a new podcast- The Rest is History- to fall asleep to. The episode I was listening to was "Causes of the First World War," and discussed the reasons why Britain was dragging its feet on getting involved. Empires and all that. :/

Good(ish) news about Christopher's album! I have one more page to do and it has to get done in the next day or so. Walgreens is having 50% off Photos this week and I have rewards points to use up before they expire. Nose to the grindstone (AKA computer monitor).
Cait and Tom went to an Open House yesterday and they liked it a lot. She is prequalified at the asking price but doesn't think she can make it work on a monthly basis because of her *$#^* student loans. Again, I have to ask, how in the world are other young adults doing it? She went to 2 years of community college and lived at home for the rest of her undergrad/grad school. She got a few small scholarships and was super careful about expenses. I don't get how someone who went away to a 4-year non-state-funded college does it.
Sorry, I am blabbering about this again but man, it really stinks for that generation.

I am not looking forward to today. Gary and I have to take my car to inspection and on the way back home we are going to hit Home Depot and BJs. As long as we have to head all the way down the highway, makes sense to go to the stores on the way back up. I *hate* Home Depot. I hate shopping but Home Depot deserves a special place in hell. Or maybe it is my personal hell? #devil Hahah!

The other thing I need to do today is my second level of hell. Meal planning. Ugghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..........
Caitlyn and I are both 100% bored with what I have been cooking. I look at all of the recipes I have collected and nothing stands out. Thankfully, Gary likes practically anything I put on the table but the rest of us... meh

What is your favorite food or meal? Maybe you can give me some inspiration.

Me Me Monday:
Hmmm. Since I am not sure how much time and energy I'll have when we get back, I might have to use yoga as my MMM.

How about you?

Good morning. Quick in and out here. Today's docket...guy is coming to power wash the house and the drive. We do that a lot ourselves but we really need a heavy duty guy. Stuff down here just gets so moldy if you don't do it constantly. He comes this morning.

At 12:15 a.m. the realtor for the Minnesota people sent me an email saying that the lady is in town today and wants to see our house at noon. Fortunately I saw the email and told her that's fine.

Then at 1:00, Brian's brokers are coming to our house to give us a market analysis. So we can get the house listed on Friday. And, through all of that, I'm working! Oh my!

@faerywings I don't know how kids are doing it. We have such a crisis on our hands with this generation. As you know, Shaun is doing community college and living at home for the first two years. Sydney is going to a state college and she has a scholarship that pays all of her tuition. I have delayed retirement to help with the costs of living there. But private college was not even an option for her unless she found someone willing to pay her way. She didn't even apply to any of those. Boo...hiss...to our educational system.

Honestly, we treat the elderly and the young awful here!

Before I do personals, I want to point out that our amazing Momma O added a "Care" reaction button to the list. Thank you, Vicki!!

@Nonni F That sounds like my kind of day, scrapping and yard work. Two of my favorite things :heartpumppink: I love the feeling of seeing green under the dead leaves and branches too.
I know that NJ is notoriously expensive but home prices are truly out of control. Two houses up the street from me went on the market last week-- $550,000. On my dinky street, with a well and septic, so no "city" resources. Bonkers. Utter madness.
Thanks for the good mojo for them!

@LSlycord Isn't that the truth about YouTube? Is the computer still working right?
It is sooo exciting that you are getting your house ready to show and that Brian is doing Real Estate again. I am happy for you both!!
I have told my guys they are welcome to stay here as long as they need. They don't *want* to but are grateful that they can. Scott is going to be 27 (**GULP**) in May and it was not in his plan to still be here. I even told Cait and Tom that it is not the way I want them to start their married life but if they had to live here while they saved some more, it would not be the end of the world. I'm sure that Shaun knows that you feel the same way about the situation.
I am still cheering him on as he gets through the last week or so of the semester.
#cheer-3
Does Shaun remember much about his life before he was with you?

@Cherylndesigns
Hahah!! You were too lazy to look at a thread. *snorts* That sounds like me.
*Swoons* look at the baby plant buggy!* So full of baby plants! Although technically, they are closer to Toddler age, hehe :D
I looooved it when Scott worked at the local garden center. He'd bring me back into the greenhouses and there is just something special about them, The smell, the energy. YKWIM.
It's still too early to get plants here but I put aside some Christmas money so I can get a few. I started zinnia and basil from seeds this year and I have some little leaves popping up already. I never have good luck with seeds but if I can even get a few basil plants I'll be thrilled. I got a bunch of seeds from the dollar store (4 packs for $1.25 woot!) so it's not a big loss if it doesn't work out. I saved morning glory and marigold seeds from last year. Most of my perennials seem to be coming back too. The baby lavender is getting new leaves (I miss my old one! *sobs*) and so is the bee balm. The phlox looks dead but you know me, I will give it every last shot before I declare it gone for good.
Oh man, I can talk about flowers allll day long and I love hearing about every else's gardening too! :heartpumplove:
Roger sounds like my dad! What is it about stubborn and injured men???

Sending out big hugs to everyone!

Hey Chri and Linda
unfortunately no ideas for cooking. Michael and I have been cooking every night for 28 years! Believe me, we haven't come up with anything for a long time. Especially since our habits have changed completely as a result of being retired. You also need less energy. And we eat less and less meat. If so then poultry! just a little note regarding my bug bites. It's shingles. Very painful time I must say! Now I got medication today and I hope that it will get better and that I can sleep through the night again. Friendly greetings to everyone! I'll be back soon, Scrapping in the background and trying to get healthy. xoxo

@tanteva Housewifing is more than a FT job. *nods* I know you'll be fine as you adjust the budget and all that. xo

@LSlycord I am practically bouncing in my chair I am so excited for you!
You know I am such a firm believer in Community College. My heart is so sad about how we have failed the younger generation and the elderly. It's very messed up that even when you do everything "right" it doesn't seem to make a dent. :(

@Su_Sanne Shingles. Oh no! I have heard the worse things about shingles so you have every healthy thought that this is a mild case.
Hope that the medicine works quickly. Feel better!

BTW- I asked Gary if we can put off the car inspection and shopping until tomorrow. I have way too many loose ends flailing about in my brain to be out all day. He agreed. Whew

Good Monday Morning ladies!! I am back from my lovely and Romantic Weekend at the King Fisher Resort and Spa. What a wonderful time we had! I think that I probably gained 5lbs LOL. We were totally unplugged for the whole weekend and just enjoyed getting pampered and spending time together. I only took a couple of photos, none of them with us in them darn it. Did you all see the gorgeous photo of @bcgal00 and her D on the Cruise ship this morning! They look so happy!! I am so happy for her, she certainly deserves this vacation!! Wish we could all join her!! So today will be a catching up day of :laundry: and other cleaning jobs. Also a baking day as my DH needs some Keto things for his snacks during the work day. It is a dark and gloomy day here so a good day to just get things done! I am feeling a bit stuffed up this morning and hope that it is just allergies and not anything else . I have far too much going on this week to be getting sick! Had a great Face Time call with our Son and family last night, they are all doing well and the kids are so busy with school and other activities that they are involved in. Isaac and Sadie are growing up too darn quickly and becoming such lovely young adults! We miss them all so much!! Heather and her boys are at the Dentist in London Ontario today, so hope all goes well as both boys. I am very far behind with scrapping so hope to get some inspiration to get a page done at some point today. Hopefully I will feel well enough to get to the pool tomorrow, but our hike day is looking like a very rainy day, so I might not be going on that hike. Weather changes so quickly around here, so we will see what happens.

@faerywings - I agree that young people these days have it pretty tough when trying to be able to afford housing !! Did you and your DH have any trouble making ends meet when you were first married?? I know that we did! I know that my parents did and so did Gary's parents, so maybe it is all relevant?? You should have seen some of the places that we lived in when we were first married OMG!! Sorry no suggestions for meal planning, you would probably not like all the meat dishes that my Gary and I eat now and none of them include pasta LOL. Love your gif with the frog, does that mean that you have found your friend in the garden?? Sure hope that Cait and Tom are able to find something that they can afford, but at least they know they are welcome to live with you if it comes to that! :heartpumppink: WTG on working on the final page for Christophers book!! You can do it!! Good plan to hold off going to Home Depot and getting the car inspection, hope that you enjoy your day at home!

@LSlycord - Wow sounds like lots happening for you today! Hope you get the power washing done without it taking too long! We get terrible mold here too because of all the rain during the winter and spring. Can't wait to get it done, but no sense doing it until the pollen has subsided, or we will have to do it twice UGH!! Our country is the same, we treat our elderly and young terribly, people who flee to our country are treated way better and are given all kinds of free everything, sorry I won't go there or I will ranting all day long :soapbox: I know they deserve a break too, but what about our young that will be our future taxpayers and voters, sheesh!

@Su_Sanne - Ohhh nooo, not shingles!! That is the worst!! Sure hope you don't have a terrible case of it! FIL had it on his back years ago and still suffers with it flaring up once in a while. I am sending you lots of healing vibes to be free of it soon!! :hug1::heartpumppink::sparkles1:.

Ok I better get busy with the laundry etc. I hope you all have a wonderful day! :waving1

Good afternoon, all.

Quick in and out but I'll try to come back later. I'm getting a late start and I need to post a couple of things. Chris @faerywings I knew you'd love the pictures and there's nothing else like a real nursery - I agree - the smells, sights, oh my. I did get those big pots of trailing Black Eyed Susans, one for each side of my arch. The other plants were toddlers. LOL

Linda @LSlycord good luck with the agents today and Trudy @taxed4ever your get away sounds divine. Hello to everybody and have a good day.

XOXO

Hello, everyone!

Rainy afternoon here in NH, but I'll take it. We need the water.

@Su_Sanne oh, no! Shingles!! My husband had the down one whole side of his head and face a few years ago. I hope it passes quickly for you.

@Cherylndesigns that nursery was swoon worthy. Jealous. Looking forward to hitting the ones here as soon as it's a bit nicer.

@faerywings the yard work felt good to do three days straight. (work gets in the way of so much. I should have married rich :giggle4: )
Hopefully the few patches of poison ivy that have shown up (one on my face) would fester and GROW. oops... I did it again. When will I learn? (don't answer that)

@taxed4ever Is there anyone who didn't struggle younger? If there is... I haven't met them. lol I remember my first husband and I saving money for a car. We thought we had a good down payment and went to the dealership. (we were 19) They asked if we had a co-signer. We were too proud to ask our parents so we continued to walk for six more months. Thankfully we lived right outside the gate at the base we were stationed at so at least it was all do-able for us. I don't know how kids do it today.

Quick pop on to tell you that our house is sold. Very good offer and we accepted.

Now we are trying to decide between two very different houses in Palm Coast. One is five blocks from the ocean. It’s a gated community on the ocean and most people are older. The house is 2 bedrooms but it has a large family room that they added on and we would turn that into a 3rd bedroom. Darling house. Great location.

The other house is new construction. Will be ready next month. Beautifully done. There are 4 bedrooms plus an office. Shaun’s bedroom has an en-suite bath. Syd’s bedroom is on the opposite side with the guest bedroom and those two bedrooms share a bath.

Decisions, decisions.

Hello Ladies,
Thank you for the compassionate words. So it wasn't ant bites, but that's what it feels like. It burns like hell. The body automatically assumes a protective posture and the joints hurt. In the waiting room I had picked out a magazine to read and I flip to a page and see a woman's shoulder with the same "ant bites" as me! So I wanted to ask the doctor about a vaccination ... that's only possible when it's healed. I have to rest a lot now. Michael helps where he can and baked me a cake today. That and your good thoughts will surely help. Greetings to everyone and stay healthy! Get vaccinated if you had chickenpox as a child!!! :waving1

Thank you for the update @Su_Sanne
I hope that you heal up quickly and can get the vaccine. I got it last year and it was a rough one with the side effects. But from what I hear about shingles, 100% worth it.

*gentle hugs and feel better*
