Drat, I almost typed August in there. Guess I wish it was still summer. (Evergreen comment heh)

This was my to do list for yesterday:
To Do List: Scrap, do laundry, make my menu and schedule for the week.
Play with rats :D
Not too bad, right?
How did I do?
The laundry is still in the dryer so... meh---
Scrapped-- yes!
Menu... I worked on it. Didn't accomplish *anything* but I *did* try to find dinner ideas.

At least I knew what I was going to cook last night with Caitlyn not being around. Even the smell of shrimp makes her nauseous, so with her being away, I used some of the frozen shrimp I got from the FP. Made a garlic pasta and shrimp bake. It made me happy to see Scott go back for thirds :D The three of us talked for an hour and a half, I think he needed to work through the last few days' emotions. We are so pleased that he can do that.

Rain update: I really thought we were going to get downpours. The sky was dark grey and the thunder was rumbling non-stop. Pfftt, barely rained. Maybe today?

I have another repeat day -- still need to work on getting dinner ideas and laundry done
*bangs head* Why can't we simply order pizza every night????
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?????????????????

Aren't I so dramatic?

Wishing everyone a fantastic day!!

@BrightEyes You and DD#1 had great luck at the library DVD sale! Wow! That reminds me that I should look to see if there are any for me to bring to the shore in case it rains. It's NOT going to rain, but JIC. (it's not. nope, not gonna). Most of the DVDs we have are Gary's taste or Disney. Maybe I can ask my friend across the street if she has any chick flicks I could borrow
Hahaha! Too funny that everyone is pleading No more plums! Do you have a food pantry nearby? They might be able to take some off your hands. The one that I go to takes donations from the local farmer's market. It is really nice when we are able to get fresh fruit and veggies. I know I gush over the Entenmann's but the fresh food is a nice bonus too.

I hope that Rae gets better soon, thanks for letting me know she posted

@Cherylndesigns personally, I am freaking out over coffee shortages and prices. We were having trouble getting canned dog food for a while. So now tomatoes are next up? bah humbug
There was nothing from Rae on FB since her cruise. :(

@pachimac That must have been wild using Google Translate to communicate with Meli's friend's father's fiancee. (Did I get that right?) I hope that the rest of her family is safe as possible. That situation breaks my heart.
Oh no about SIL bringing the main course! What time did she show up?
I hope that the entire dinner was calm and respectful, it is hard when people have differing opinions but are unaccepting that other people have differing views. I was raised that you don't talk about politics/religion/salary. And I break all three of them on a regular basis :D, but I take care of what I say and to whom. My dinner table debates are very different than what I would say to my brother's ILs. When we are together, we have plenty of other topics to find common ground. Life is too short to fight everyone about everything, right?
Allergies in NJ are terrible! Last week was worse than right now but with everything dying and dry- my eyes and nose are itching like mad. Hope you feel better

@Cherylndesigns those pics look like they should be on an influencer blog :D Gorgeous kids and gorgeous porch and home!!♥
Did you get into the pool???
Did Ava have a nice b-day?

@tanteva yes. To every word you wrote. :(

Thanks @vickyday no real rain still...

Good Morning!
We have plans to ride with our good friends from church today (aka the pastor and his wife). But some rain is in the forecast, so not sure what is going to actually happen yet. DH is sleeping in this morning!

We got lots of good rain yesterday! Sorry you did not, Chris @faerywings :(

Not much going on. I did a bit of scrapping yesterday. Here is one from the scanning I've done. I DID start riding very young! ;) I'm going to have to fix the upper photo because I moved it around but forgot to move the paint around, too, darn it!

Have a great day!

Good morning all. It's Labor Day here in the States so we have a 3 day weekend. Oh...except I don't have a job right now. So tomorrow it will be a 4 day weekend. I'm counting down to vacation time...so I'm focused on that. A weekend with the babies and then a week and a half road trip. WooHoo!

And guess who is leaving tomorrow. That would be Decker...and we will be back to 2 dogs...and boy is that easier! And he goes home to people who love him...so no sadness this time. I was thinking about it and one of the good things that we did this year was Decker. I truly believe that our involvement saved his life. And that makes me so happy.

@faerywings the laundry is in the dryer and not the washer so I consider that a success! Glad that Scott had the time to decompress with you guys last night. Love that!

@vickyday what neat photos...worth the effort to scan for sure! Love that layout! Hope you get a good ride in today!

@Cherylndesigns love that photo of the 4 grandkids. And I have young Asher in my memory...so I guess I'm now clear. Thanks for posting the photo. And those porch photos...I am a total sucker for big lush ferns hanging from the porch. My folks had a front porch that they used constantly in retirement...and they had big ferns hanging clear across the front. I fear that they would burn up down here. Speaking of tomato plants burning up...mine truly burned to a crisp! We got 3 tomatoes...and then that was the end.

@taxed4ever I can't wait to hear what home projects you decide on. That will be so much fun for us to watch...

Holy Nomad
Mornin' all.
It's rainy here- muggy and gray. Makes me ache a bit. Grandson 1 is here with us. We decided to take him home with us after Gathering yesterday. He is precious. Such a "good" personality. And a real cutie.Oct.19-2018.jpg Oh boy, in a few years the girls..! Ack!
Feeling a bit better after the news about my sister. Honestly, as grievous as the illness is, it was harder to comprehend her dealing with it while trying to live in a mess. Not to mention the danger- rodents come, spiders, roaches etc! My BIL is mentally ill- I did a bit of research and the degree of hoarding is an illness. : ( I was in shock for about an hour. I made a page to help get some of it out and that helped. We are clinging to our faith to overcome this wretched situation. Whew!

We are supposed to have final distribution of Dan's ("Hubster") V.A. settlement tomorrow. Hope so. We've been in court with it for 18 months!!! We've been waiting to buy a home and truly begin the empty nesting we wanted ten years ago. (Loooong story with lots of surgeries). Then we will also be traveling a good bit. They should have given him 100% disability as his ankle is purple and the bones have fused. Pain is chronic but he is a real warrior. He continues to endeavor to enjoy life!

I'm having fun with the small weaving. It's the first time I've used vine and twigs in one. :D DD is prepping for two months of travel. First London for a linguist conference after which she is going to visit C.S. Lewis home and search for the Lamppost of Narnia (??) She says she knows where it is- near Oxford. OF course she wants to go to Oxford! SO her!
Then she goes 10 days to Mayalsia: Social development NGO, working with Rohingya refugees. THEN, she goes to Thailand for a week. We are concerned about these two places in Asia. Known for heavy trafficking and violence to women. Have already started the prayers! How we wish she had a husband at this time!
Then 3 days in Istanbul. ( A wee bit jealous- I studied the famous Hagia Sofia at A.A.U. and wrote a paper on it - got an A!) We plan to travel to Turkey next year- with some of the settlement $$.
Today: complete the small organic weaving and get a rug for my porch that goes with my Fall stuff.

Chris @faerywings You made me laugh. I get "repeat days". They usually happen for me when I am attempting a major project- and they can be frustrating. I usually am goal oriented, so to have to admit (to myself- nobody else even bothers with it, lol) that I didn't get part A done on day X ... I am trying to let that go. hmmpf. I too discuss things openly- but seriously desire to do it respectfully. I am sick of the censorship we are having in the U.S. Just sayin'. Like you said "Life is too short to fight everyone about everything, right?"
Cheryl @Cherylndesigns What great photos and beautiful family!!! You have inspired me to do my front porch for Fall. Wish real pumpkins were available but its way too early here. In a few weeks...
Linda, @LSlycord thank you for compassion for dogs. Love that you invested like that.
Susan @pachimac Thanks for the thoughts- Deb would never move- and we don't have any place or means to bring her if she would. She has lived her ENTIRE life in one house, one city, one church, etc. Not a nomad like us, lol!

Happy Holiday everybody, no matter where you are!

Morning ladies I am very late arriving her today, but its a long weekend for us here too and DH is keeping me very busy with little jobs here and there. We did enjoy a nice quiet morning of coffee and breakfast on the front upper deck. Now DH is getting a white wine transferred into the carboy and it will sit for another couple of weeks before we bottle that. Yesterday it did rain all day long so no swimming in the Lake for me :( . We did get some chores done for FIL and MIL and enjoyed a lovely lunch with them and SIL and her man Mark. Lots of laughs and a couple of surprises too as the In-Laws announced that they will be putting the house up for sale soon and moving to a smaller place....hmmmm think I have heard all this before???? We will see, but FIL knows he will be losing his licence very soon especially now that he is having heart issues and MIL knows they will be up S*#t Creek without a paddle soon. We will not be able to help them in the Winter as the roads will be impassible on most days during December/January. So there are a couple of places that they are looking at on Wednesday, one is at the bottom of our hill and the other is in Ladysmith where SIL Linda lives. We will see, we have been down this road once already. Anyway they want me to come to the showings so I will be able to go after my hike on Wednesday. Today I am baking for most of the day and then I hope to get the rest of the laundry done and clean the bathrooms too. Sure would like to find some time to do some scrapping but I also have to get a GC out to the winner of MommaO's challenge for last month.... opps forgot to do that the other day LOL. Darn I need to get going so will try to catch up with everyone soon! Sorry no time for personals again #crazy.

Well, I made it - it's only 10:32 my time. What a busy weekend! Ava had a great birthday and we were up at Adrienne's until about 11 pm last night. We had our first big pool bash! We had the music cranked up because we can - no neighbors to bother. All of the "neighbors" were at the party. There were a ton of people there after 8 PM. Prior to 8 it was family only. With just us, it's a big crowd.

We all sat around the pool and swam yesterday afternoon - just lolled around and Adrienne fixed Mimosas. We always have them on holidays - Ava's birthday counts, doesn't it??? The kids had a blast in the pool last night - everybody was wet, and the weather was perfect. There must have been 25 people out on the deck, but it's a big deck so it wasn't crowded at all. Like I said, the kids were all in the pool.

Then today I went with Adrienne to take Jordan back to the airport in Tulsa. After we dropped him off, we decided to go to World Market while we were there. I hadn't been there since we lived in Florida, so it was fun to get to go again. They weren't as stocked as they used to be - that scares me - I did get a fake plant to put on top of my upper cabinet and let it hang down over the end. it looks so good and I won't have to get the ladder out to water it. I'm not a huge fan of artificial plants, but if they look real, they're okay. LOL I also found a yummy candle - they're always nice to have sitting around. I remember when that store had so many baskets - their stock was very low compared to what it used to be and they were so much more price wise. :( I didn't pick up a basket (that I was drawn to) for less than $40 and most were $50.

Ava just called and wants me to ride over to Muskogee tomorrow, so back in the car. It will give us a chance to talk, though, so it will be fun. She got a new car - this afternoon - and I haven't seen it yet. We're taking it to Muskogee. She decided to trade her truck in for a Ram Challenger. She'll probably be ready to get a truck again when she can't get up the hill to our houses this winter. LOL We couldn't make it up last year in our SUV and Braden couldn't make it up in his 2-wheel drive truck. Both our vehicles had to sit at the bottom of the hill for a couple of days last winter. For those of you who've seen pictures of our property, our houses sit up pretty high.

Chris, your shrimp dinner sounds amazing! It's so good to hear that Scott had a chance to talk to you and Gary. I'm sure he needed that - you all did. I told Ava that Aunt Chris said Happy Birthday and she said to tell you thank you. I'm so glad you enjoyed my pictures. It's not big, but it's a porch and I haven't had one since forever. We've really enjoyed sitting out there and fall is my favorite time to sit out there.

Linda @LSlycord I'm glad you have an "org chart" (sort of) of my family. You are right about the ferns - they don't do well in Florida. I've had ferns for many, many years - and I love them so much. The first year we moved to Florida, I bought my usual ferns and hung them across the back of our lanai beside the pool. They had to be babied like crazy and I watered them at least twice a day. I left for two weeks, to go up north and left explicit orders for my hubby and dd to take care of them and they let every one of them die. I threw them away (they were fried) and I never got any more down there. They will grow in the ground in the shade, but the hanging ferns are just too high maintenance. So, you got three whole tomatoes, huh? We got a couple of dozen - ugh. They're actually starting to blossom again and we're getting more tomatoes - I don't think they're done yet. Second time around.

Amanda, we don't have pumpkins here yet, either. I'm hoping that they will be the same price this year (I can dream, can't I?) They were $8 apiece for the medium sized pumpkins last year, so we shall see. The stores had huge bins last year and they'll be popping up soon again. Glad I inspired you to get fallish with your porch. SO sad about your SIL - but good news about Hubster! I know you've been working on this settlement for a long time. Sending you hugs and good vibes. Your DD is a brave person - I'd be nervous about some of those locales, too, but some people just go anyway. I know you'll be surrounding her with prayer.

Hugs to everybody and I'll try to make it in here earlier tomorrow.
