Is anyone else not really ready to say goodbye to September? As I was driving the other day, the trees in my town (I live in the "highlands" of NJ) are all starting to turn. Makes me sad. I do like how pretty the trees look and you all know how much I adore Halloween, but I am never happy to see summer go.
But the good news is that we are going to have some really nice warm days this week. That really does make me happy!

Not much going on here for me. My day's highlight is going to be food shopping...... eeeep.

And I am trying to cut down on coffee consumption. *cries* it doesn't seem to make any difference in the heart palpitations and tremors, but it is probably better for me anyway. So I am going to stick up on some tea.

Me Me Monday-- Since it is going to be nice, I really should get outside and start doing some Fall cleanup work.
Hopefully Scott can mow our lawn when he gets home from school so we can get the lawn decorated. Lawnmower Man needs to be revived! LOL
(For any new people, we decorate our yard with a Man running a lawnmower over a pair of jeans/sneakers.Creepy! LOL)

Love to allllll!

Cynthia- soooo good to see you posting back again. I hear ya on having a hard time keeping up with everything, and just staying upright some days. I had a really horrible health week last week too and was barely around here and I can tell you how much I miss this place too.
Hope that you can spend more time with us!

Trudy- hope that you had an awesome Spa weekend.

Phyllis- where are you???

xoxo to all of you!

:Cry:i'm HEEEEEEEER! i kind of went brain-fizzed over the weekend. this Windows 8 thing is getting to my mood. and now i'm finding out that a lot of the stuff that i had in my ITunes library on my old computer is not there anymore on my new computer AND not in the cloud purchases. so i wasted hours doing transfers of purchases from my various devices into iTunes on the new computer yesterday. but the REAL time-consuming stuff is going to be getting my Harry Potter and other audiobooks back into the library from CDs, which is what i have to do, because, for some reason THEY didn't transfer into iTunes on the new computer when i did the purchase transfers. when i downloaded the CDs the first time, i discovered that, when the CDs were made, they really didn't conceive of iTunes importing. all the sorting info on the CDs is random, so i had to go through EVERY little section of EVERY chapter and make the sorting consistent so that it would import into iTunes IN ORDER. GAAAH!!!! :ballchain: :hurt: it's going to take forever. again. WHO said that computers would save us time???

Chris, i saw some leaves turning in my yard yesterday, and all i could think was, "uh oh...." i'm not ready for this, either. wouldn't it be great to live someplace where the change of season didn't bring on a feeling of dread. i sometimes miss the beauty of fall because all i can think about is the coming ice storms and blizzards. and lots of gray, gray days. :hurt: and don't give up coffee!! drink decaf! regular tea actually has more caffeine in it than regular coffee. i know that veteran coffee drinkers are appalled by decaf, but, honestly, i gives you the best of both worlds. try it! and hope you get to feeling better every day, kiddo.

hi, Cynthia!! great to "see" your smiling face here again!

Trudy, waiting to hear about the spa weekend!! i bet it was fabulous! did you take photos?

i'll be back later to see what everybody's up to. today, it's clean the library top to bottom and go grocery shopping. i painted my first floor bathroom yesterday. Plaster Lady did a fabulous job resurfacing the walls! and Hubby and i cut down a bunch of "done" stuff in the yard yesterday, so that's gone. i'm feeling pretty prepared for fall, outside, at least. i still have to get tons of dirt delivered so i can rake it over where a bunch of pine trees used to be in front of our house, then plant grass seed and hope for the best.

OK. off to tackle the library. Make Monday Memorable! :becky:

Good Morning O fam!! I took today off- forgot that I took it off so it is a wonderful gift. We have been busy this weekend dragging everything out of the attic and sorting- keep, sell, trash. Would you believe there was a box of farm toys that also included magazines and papers from when we moved in 2002? Yes you would. So I had boxes to wash, toys primarily to move to the basement. There are some that I am saving in case we have grandkids. We had a huge collection of unit blocks (those heavy wooden blocks we played with in kindergarten, legos and playmobile. Then there are the hess trucks and lastly toys from when I did home visits that are mine (3 large containers of those. They are being sorted and packed into the basement. I will deal with them again in 5-10 years. That and general cleaning are on my list today!

Good morning I had one super fun and busy weekend. Saturday was the first fun NJ Devils event. The Devils hosted a BBQ for all season tickets holders to meet the Devils and coaching staff. I love this as it is such fun to see my players in street clothes and to talk to them. My Devils by a lot of the NHL analysts have been selected to finish near the bottom of the conference so I asked Stephan Gionta if the players read this stuff and if it motivates them. He said yes it motivates them and he said they will not finish last. It was an unusual way they did the meet and greet. The players just wondered around and no name tags so it was up to us fans to know them. Well my DIL wanted to meet Michael Ryder and she was about to walk by him but I (lol) did recognize him and she got him to sign her jersey. My new players seem really nice. Opening night for the NHL is tomorrow night and then my team plays on Thursday and home on Friday night. So after the meet and greet we left the arena and became part of the opening montage for the Devils home opener. The wanted all the fans to scream We Are Jersey. So I will have to see if I can see me. Should be pretty funny. Then my son and DIL came down so he could show off his new truck to his dad. He is so happy with his truck. Boys and their trucks. Went to bed early and got up on Sunday to go to Hawk Mt. in PA. The way the valley and mountain meet huge numbers of hawks migrate through here in the spring and the fall. It was a gorgeous day. We saw black vultures, broadwing hawks, cooper hawk, sharp-shinned hawk, red-tailed hawk and red-shouldered hawk. It is this out cropping of rock and in the sun and you just sit and watch the birds fly by. The most amazing is watching the kids just scramble over the rocks - me I am super careful just trying not to fall. Phylis I looked up its location and its is about 2 hours from my house and according to the site 5-6 hrs from Pittsburgh. On really good days they have over a 1000 hawks fly by. Got some good photos of the black vulture but others are so high and fast that it was not possible. The leaves are starting to turn but not that much yet. It was such a great way to be outside. Again went to bed early.

Chris hope you are having a much better health week this year. Have fun decorating for Halloween.

Phylis and Trudy hope you both had a fun weekend.

Cynthia hope you have a much calmer week.

Laurie! WAAH!!! i wish i HAD an attic!! what a difference that would make for storage. as it is, i have a room upstairs that i refer to as The Mess Room, which functions as our attic....

Nancy, i'm sure you felt right at home at that Devils get-together. you know EVERYONE without a nametag!! sounds like fun, and what a neat thing for management to do for the fans! thanks for the info about the Hawk stuff. that's a pretty far drive for me to go to see hawks. with my luck, i'd probably go there on a day when no hawks show up! did you take pix? gonna make some pages?

i've been at the computer for 2 hours already, reinstalling some of my audiobook CDs back into iTunes. GAAAAAAH!!!! only about 10 hours to go, i estimate. the Harry Potter audiobooks and Lord of the RIngs is going to take me eons, going through every subchapter and changing things to match up. :hurt:

Happy Monday ladies!! I can't stay here too long today, my back is killing me!!!! The spa was wonderful, but halfway through my body massage I was asked to turn over and I heard this "CRACK" and oh my gosh the "PAIN"!!!!!! It took me 10 minutes to turn over on the bed and finish the massage. I have been in horrible pain ever since. :hurt: it really put a damper on the whole experience. My sister Wendy helped me to feel better for a while, by showing me a couple of stretches to do on the hard floor and I did feel so much better, until the next day when I started to stiffen up again. It wasn't the poor girl's fault that gave me the massage, it was just the way I turned. She gave me the best massage I have ever had!! 90 minutes of pure heaven, until I had to walk down to the waiting area again and wait for my facial. That was excruciating! They even had someone else come and talk to me about what happened, poor girl was so worried that she had done something to me. But I know I just aggravated my previous back injury. So now its tons of Ibuprofen and lots of stretching. What a wonderful place that spa is, if anyone of you ever have the chance to go I highly recommend it!! Its a huge spa that employs over 300 people and they treat you like gold!!! Horrible weather on the way there and back, but we had a nice break of sunshine for a bit on Sunday and went to Coombs and shopped a bit. Then the downpour began again and it was time to hit the road and get home. Terrible wind and rainstorm last night. My backyard is filled with branches and other debris . Forecasting another wave of windstorms today, so no sense in even thinking about cleaning up the yard today. Not that I could anyway the way I am feeling! Sorry on not catching up with personals today, but it is an effort to sit in one place this long. Know that I am thinking about all of you and hope to catch up better tomorrow.

always chatty at the O!!
I am sitting up in the OR with nothing to do...waiting for some work. I basically sit around until they need me somewhere so I am going through the forums as I do every day and realized I don't remember the last time I wrote in the Daily-Os so I thought I should. My weekend was too short as always. I had a little mini meltdown on Saturday. I really needed it and my husband let me just ramble on and on about all my pitiful woes while I just cried. What came out of it was me deciding I needed a mommy break. My sister offered to pay for half of my trip home if I wanted to come home over Veterans Day weekend...I had a realization that if I took one more day off of work I could come home for a whole week instead of a few days...so my sister is getting the ticket today and I get to be home for my niece's 1st birthday party. I'm pretty excited about it. I got the leave approved today and I am a happy camper now. Yay!!!!

Aside from that I have just been working, making coffee and working...and doing both at the same time. We've got a roommate for a few months. If any of you remember Andrea of Lifescape designs aka mrsaboyer...her husband is staying with us until he gets out of the army. He sent her and the kids off to stay with his sister in PA so that the kids could start school and moved out of his place to save some money. While having a roommate can be stressful he is very helpful, which makes the annoying extra person in the house stuff not so bad. For some crazy reason he likes to wake up and come to the coffee stand with me in the morning...which thinking about it this morning is not a bad thing...I may have him open in the mornings when I am gone. My husband is finally learning the guitar while he is staying with us and all those little projects that we mean to do, but never quite get to have started getting done. It's kinda nice.

Aside from that...that's about it.

Chris - I want to come and see you and your neighbor's house for Halloween one year. It sounds like so much fun. I know what you mean about the weather and the leaves changing...but here it gets so hot that I welcome the cold...and I enjoy cold weather activities...like drinking tea, snuggling with my kids, driving with the heat on instead of the AC, turning off the AC in the house, and peppermint mochas. Mmmmmmmmmm!!!

Phyllis - Oh man that sucks about the computer stuff. I use a program to rename stuff...I wonder if you could use a renaming program to help with the iTunes stuff. I use it when I putting together the Oscraps Collabs to get all the naming the same. It speeds things up a little bit. What a giant pain. Good luck with it.

Laurie - enjoy your day off. I hope you do something fun besides just cleaning, like go out to lunch or something. But it is nice to have an unexpected day off to just get stuff done. I know I had to take some days off from work to get stuff done when my in-laws were coming into town while my husband hadn't returned from training yet. It was nice being able to just do my thing.

Nancy - that sounds like so much fun with the hockey team. My sister would die to do something like that with the Seahawks. She talks about them like they are her kids. It cracks me up. That place where you saw all the hawks sounds so cool.

Trudy - That is so terrible about your back. I'm glad you enjoyed your spa experience anyway, but how sad to have it almost wasted with an injury. Poo!! If I am ever in the area I think I need to check that place out. I hope your back heals quickly...lots of ice and heat. hugs!!
