Good morning and happy Labor Day to everyone who works their butts off every day. Hmm- we are all women here. That means all of us. :D

Did I have a successful and productive day yesterday? Not really. I got a couple of small things done around the house. My parents were here for a little while and my mom and I talked a bit about our mini-vacation. (weather as of today is *not* looking good :( ) I wanted to do more yard cleanup, but it started to rain so that ended pretty quickly. I somehow waste more time and the next thing I knew, my day had ended and I needed to cook dinner.

My goodness, my life is so dull!!! hahaha!!!!!

I got a text from my BFF inviting me down to her house today to hang out in her new pool. If no one needs me around here, I will go there for a little while. But first, I have to get my food shopping list and menu planned especially since it is going to have last until next Thursday when I get back. God knows, the family will starve if I don't leave them food. Actually, they will order pizza every night with money that we don't have. ;)
Here's to everyone having a lovely day! :tea:

Nancy- it is good that you got Luther out for a nice walk yesterday since it is going to be HHH again this week.
Ugh about the EHD! Why is everything always more complicated than it should be? At least you were able to watch a lot of sports while you needed to take a break from scrapping.

Rae- I am really happy that you and Jen had a nice time away. It is really important that you are able to do that. we are all caught up with Castle Rock and it is getting really creepy.
Good luck with your busy week!

Trudy- That is funny that the Farmer's Almanac is predicting a typical winter for you. I heard it is supposed to be extremely cold here this winter but I don't think *anyone* can predict what the weather is going to do from day to day anymore. I am not ready for fall decorations but Cait asked for a spooky themed birthday party so we will have some low-key Halloween decorations up by Sept 21.
I should see if Caitlyn still have the picture of the Jesus mural on her phone. When Scott went with me last month she desperately wanted him to take a selfie with Jesus in the background but he couldn't frame it properly without people noticing.

Hugs to all of you!!

what is Labour Day?

A quick intro, as this is my first time playing here. My name is Angela. I live in England. I have 3 children, the older two have medical needs etc. I love all forms of crafts involving fabric, paper and paint.

It's the last day of the school holidays today. My children all go back tomorrow (although some schools in the area return on Wednesday). We started the day with a trip to the library to return books. My youngest got her reading challenge certificate and medal for reading 6 or more library books over the summer. She probably read more than 20 books including ones we own.

I've got some mixed media dies that arrived from the summer sales today - I'm itching to play with them and try them out in some art.

Good Monday Morning everyone! It is a holiday Monday here for us in Canada also a nice little day off for all of those who work so hard all year long! My DH will spend his day working on painting the trim on the front windows of the house, so no rest for him LOL. Yesterday was lovely as we enjoyed celebrating my brothers birthday on their wharf on the river, it was sunny and warm and we had a nice time! My brother got a Edmonton Oilers Jersey from his wife (he is a big oilers fan from way back!) Then his son surprised him with a trip to Edmonton to see them play in January. Jordan his son will be home from Australia at that time and so they are going to the game together, what a great gift! Today I hope to get some scrapping done and then I have to run up to Walmart to copy a few photos that DD had done while here. So a laid back kind of day for me escept for having to get meals for DH LOL.

Chris - Sorry that yo did not get as much accomplished as you wanted yesterday, but it was nice that you had time to spend with your parents! I agree, these days the weather is so unpredictable that I don't anyone knows what the heck it will be like, let alone being able to predict the long range forecast! I really was not ready to change out the flower pots etc, but really I had no choice as my petunias were done and everything is so dry and yellow, that it already looks like fall is here. The poor maple trees are so stressed that they started changing a few weeks ago. It is sad! The showed on the news this morning that the wildfires are down to around 400 from the over 600 that were burning most of the summer. YIKES!! Our poor province won't have any trees left! Yes I bet Scott would have gotten some looks trying to take a selfie with Jesus LOL!!

Angela - welcome to the Daily O's we have lots of fun here and enjoy chatting it up with each other. As for your question ... Labour day is a public holiday or day of festivities held in honor of working people, in the US and Canada on the first Monday in September.
Most of us here enjoy crafting also and I myself love to paint with acrylics I used to do some paper scrapping but love that I no longer have to clean up the mess anymore LOL. School begins here tomorrow also, however I no longer have any school aged children at home. My son and DIL are both in the Military and are living in Toronto right now with their two children ages 10 and 8 and my Daughter and SIL live in Mitchell Ontario with their two boys aged 5 and 1, so we are blessed with 4 wonderful grandchildren. We live on Vancouver Island so we are very far away from all of them  congrats to your youngest for reading so many books over the summer! I hope that you have fun playing with your new mixed media dyes!!

:hello: to the rest of you this morning and I hope you are all enjoying a relaxing Holiday Monday!

good late morning - whew is it warm out. The haze heat and humidity are back. We got Luther out and he had his tongue hanging out but we bring water so that is good. My DH made an awesome dinner last night. He grilled steaks, smashed potatoes with cheese and horseradish, asparagus with bacon and seasonings, and grilled corn on the cob. He made a total mess in the kitchen but wow what a feast. Left overs today so no labor on this Labor day. I am starting the slow process of removing photos from my hard drive and it is so hard.

Chris glad you were some what productive. Hope you have a great dime at the pool with your friend. Seems the perfect day to enjoy sun time. That is funny about your DH and kids not surviving without your food. Hope the weather forecast gets better for your mini vacation.

Trudy how fun to spend time with brother and his wife for his birthday. Sounds like a great day. What a fun birthday gift from his son!

Angela welcome - yes Labor Day is holiday is the US to celebrate all the hard workers. It took a long time for labor laws to be passed so this is a day to remember. But it has turned into the last official day to celebrate summer before fall and school starts in Sept. I too have two grown sons, one married and one still at home. My DH is a professor and he has been busy getting ready for his classes. And I must say that I am glad I have gotten them through school. I do not miss their homework or projects. Hope all goes well with the start of school.

Waving to all! Have a great day!

I'm happy that DH saw a hummingbird in the yard this morning. It visited the coral honeysuckle that has a little bloom again plus the trumpet creeper. It's another hot day but we have no plans at the moment.

Chris, holding out hope that the weather will be good for your get-away. Hope you go to BFF's pool today.

Angela, must be a big change of season when the kiddies go back to school. Trudy and Nancy gave good description's of Labor Day. Have fun with those new dyes.

Trudy, lovely birthday for your brother! Sounds like you are keeping very busy though. Hope after the weekend you finally get to relax a little.

Nancy, poor hot Luther. I sure do sympathize.

Hi to all.

Hi everyone
Welcome Angela.

It's been too warm and rainy here to walk my dogs. They are going crazy. We are on month 4 of high temps, humidity and too much rain to do anything outside.

We are all just hanging out on Labor Day as everyone had the long weekend off from work.
