*head desk* Monday again. And this week is going to be a doozy. No no, nothing bad and or all that busy, at least as far as I know. This time last week, I had no idea what crap was in store for me and my fam. ;)
Nope- i am stuck on trying to figure out what to do about these gifts I need to make or buy. It is driving me crazy. It doesn't help that I am needing to get for a man who has everything, plus a very limited budget..... ahhhhhhh! Gary is no help whatsoever, ever though it is his side of the family. Of course, Gary is no help if I ask him something simple as "what do you want for dinner?" *eye roll*

Uh-oh... I am sounding a bit cranky, is it really obvious?

let me post this and pull my head together LOL

Morning Chris & All

Off to work today- just got a text that the head boss is buying us breakfast- in case we forgot- ummm I did. It is rainy here- which means the Amish may be here to work on the basement- yeah! However last week they tied their horse to my propane tank and the ground is so wet- yea lets just say there was nothing to mow and too many hoof prints to even mow over it cause the horse sunk in 4-6 inches every where- think we will have him put in the dog pen today- huge and 8' fence all around! Okay- off to get more done before work/breakfast!

i've been trying to get housework started sice last THURSDAY. "something" keeps getting in my way. i really have to get going or the Health Department's going to show up and cite me for something or other. i can feel that i'm entering one of my Creative Slumps. do you guys get those? a period when i have absolutely NOTHING in my head!!

Chris, i laughed out loud at you comment about your husband not even being able to tell you what he wants for dinner. my husband and i went round and round about that just yesterday. that really infuriates me!! could you EVER imagine not being able to come up with an idea for dinner if some one was going to COOK IT FOR YOU!! men. they drive me insane.

Laurie, i didn't realize that the Amish did basements! i've only ever seen them doing framing and other outside stuff around here.

have a great day, ladies!

I swear the weekends go by way to fast....I think my company should go to a four day work week, so we can have a 3 day weekend. That may just be enough time to recoup from the previous work week. This week is my payroll process weeek so very intense and having to meet time deadlines.

Chris - go girl and take the time to scrap, clears the head.

Laurie - my goodness a horse tied to your propane tank! Really.....

Phylis - I go through a creative slump almost every other week...sheesh....why can't we just put a layout together with no effort.....

Morning all. DH just went out for some breakfast. I'm not ready to eat and may just have tea and an orange.

I never ask what he wants to eat. I think of that as the cook's prerogative. Of course I do cook a lot of what he likes. Food.

Today is going to be a quiet day in NYC for me I'm hoping. The coffee table and dining table in this apt have metal legs and Ms. Barefoot banged her toe against one. It hurt last night when we walked over to a nearby church for Evensong. It's still swollen today but it doesn't hurt as much. Shoes with fronts for me instead of sandals I'm afraid. We got a bunch of street food last night on the way back from church. I love eating that way. The Sunday market had 5th avenue closed this week where I also got a gaggle of faux Missoni scarves for me and the grandchicks.

I guess the self-inflicted banged up toe will have to be the Naked City tale of the day!

Goodmorning! My little Chloe is sick with a cold today so she will stay home from kindergarten. I will have to do my errands tomorrow. Looks like lots of cuddles and a movie on my agenda today.

Morning Ladies!! :rain: here today, but my weekend away was fabulous!! The wedding was beautiful, speeches a little too long, food was terrific! It was so much fun to dress up and visit with so many that we have not seen for so long. The dancing started late, but my MG and I kicked up our heels and had a great time!! Had to leave the next day after the wedding fairly early as wind warnings scared all of us about catching the ferry back to the Island, none of us wanted to get stuck on the mainland. Good to be back home in our own bed, but we did enjoy all of it!!

Chris - My husband says the same thing everytime I ask him what he would like to eat, "Do you have anything that you need to get rid of?" It drives me  I could smack him :brick: but then perhaps I should just stop asking him!!

Laurie: hope that your basement gets worked on today!! You will now have a horseshoe shaped small pool in your yard, the ducks might like it!!

Phylis - hope you get your housework done, then perhaps something will come to you while you do your chores and your creative slump will be gone.

Fran _ I agree the weekends go way to fast!! But then I spent most of mine traveling to and from a wedding, with some fun in between of course!

Maureen - Hope your toe heals quickly!! If you cooked for me everyday I would never have a problem coming up with suggestions for supper or any meal! LOL. Have fun in NYC!!

Heather - Hope your little one gets over her cold soon, cuddles and a movie sound perfect!!

Hope you all have a great Monday!!

good afternoon ladies!!

It's Monday--work for me. I did manage to go to the gym this morning. Can't work anything that has to do with legs or feet--so it was upper body and abs. I'm determined to get this ab back in shape, like in flat!!

Hope to put in less than 12 hours today at work. Relax tonight.

always chatty at the O!!
Good evening ladies.

The boys just left for scouts tonight. I had a pretty good weekend. My husband had a 24 hour duty...which always sucks, but it was manageable. We always go and take him food and visit for a little bit. My plan for yesterday was to go to church and then take the kids to go and visit my friend whose husband just passed...but before we left for church I got a call from a friend of mine. She was supposed to have a baby almost 3 weeks ago but instead had her yesterday in the early morning. Her birth plan was to have a home birth but after hours of being almost progressed far enough they decided to call it a wash and go to the hospital where they tried to help her to have the baby naturally but in the end she had to have a C-section. The baby ended up being 10lbs and 11oz. She wasn't ready to be on her own but her husband needed to go home to get a few things so they called and asked if I could sit with her for awhile...so...plans changed. I still got to go and see Michelle just later in the day. I still can't get over how big that baby was. I have never seen such a large newborn...and she was proportional (22 inches) and not just all big and chunky. But she was sure beautiful...as C-section babies get to be. Addie was devastated to not get to go yesterday so we went to go see them again today before Addie started school. She was feeling a lot better by today and she even let Addie sit on the bed with her. So, get this....I am still amazed by this. She has a midwife who is providing care for her and the baby for 30 days after the birth. Because of this the midwofe does the PKU test (the one where they make the baby's heel bleed and put the blood on the paper) about a week after the birth. Should be no big deal, right? As long as it gets done. They wanted the midwife to do it because her plan is nicer and less traumatizing...they do it with the mom breastfeeding and stuff. Don't pull the baby away and all that like most hospitals do it. No big deal, right? Oh no!! It was a huge deal and the charge nurse called in JAG (the legal department) to create a form for her to sign about it. Another guy was in there freaking out about the 48 hour appt. This is a new thing. It takes place 48 hours after you leave the hospital instead of while you are still there...as was done with both of my kidlets. Once again...care that was going to be done by the midwife and not the military hospital. Her personal nursing staff was being fine with it...but the leads and admins were freaking out. The midwife even came in and they were freaking out about it. OH!! And I found out today that when she got the epidural they kicked her husband out of the room. For both of mine my husband was instructed to help them by essentially giving me someone to hug to keep me still and curve my back the right way. I am just dumbfounded by this hospital. I don't get it. And yet...this is where I want a job. Brilliant!! Okay...sorry for the rambling...

I think my washing machine has finally crapped out. Hopefully Derek can figure out how to fix it...but he doesn't seem to be in any hurry to even look at it. It stopped spinning. It has fallen off the track before but this sounds different. Ugh!! I really don't want to buy a new washing machine. If I have to get a new one it will be a fancy one. Maybe this is motivation to start saving for the ones I want.

Okay...how about some personals.

Chris - that cracked me up...reminding Sally about the center of the world. Very cool that Cait gets to go shopping with her grandma. My grandma always did that for us too. I am not looking forward to that. Addie is very particular about what she wears...I can only imagine how it will be later. My husband is also a pain when I ask for his opinion about stuff. Couldn't possibly answer my questions.

Laurie - I hope your basement got worked on today. That is so cool that you have the amish to work on your house. They do such great work. My husband used to do house framing with them...then when he was an x-ray tech the clinic he worked for did an Amish clinic one day a week. He swears by their work. I hope you can find a way for them not to destroy your yard.

Phyllis - I still have boxes that I need to unpack and I keep simply keep looking at them and then do anything else...that doesn't need done. Invite people over...that's how I always get stuff done.

Frani - I am so with you on the 4 day work week. I am all over that.

Maureen - Your poor toe. I hope it doesn't hold you back too much on your trip. I love street food too.

Heather - What is it with the sick kids? Mine won't stay healthy either. Then I have allergies on top of that so we are just a big miserable bunch. I do love the sickie cuddles though. They are just a little sweeter than normal.

Trudy - I'm glad your wedding weekend trip was a good one. Thank goodness for no wind issues. That's crazy about the long speeches. We only had 3 speeches at my sister's wedding and they were pretty short.

Sally - I love that you listen to Christmas music whenever you want. Good luck with your list.

Linda - Good morning to you too. So glad to see you run through here. Give all those babies some extra O-love.

Terry - good luck with your abs...I wish I had the motivation. They have Yoga on Hulu. I really should start.

Okay ladies...I'll try to hop in earlier tomorrow. Hugs to everyone.

clarabear--almost an 11 pound baby!! OMG she came out full grown!!

Well--work this afternoon was interrupted with the dreaded phone call from the 19 year old son.

"mom, you want the good news first or the bad news."

Oh no. What did you do?

"I'm still alive but can you meet me at the ER"

why? What happened. Thinking he was going to tell me he had a car wreck and was hurt.

"long story mom. but I'm alive and probably need stitches."

Long story short---he was "looking" at his friends knife in class (criminal justice college class) and cut his thumb right open. Yea, right---looking at a knife and it just jumped up and cut your thumb???? He must think I'm stupid. Oh yeah. I forgot--aren't all parents stupid?

Still has his thumb. He's going to live. Probably will cost about $1000.00.

7PM and I'm just now sitting down to relax.

Oh Terry, I hate those phone calls- how about the call that comes when you and your husband are returning from a trip, traveling by car -you answer husbands phone and son says- mom is dad there- you hand the phone over thinking this is not going to be good, and where else would he be- we are driving home- the joys of kids- it was a car accident- with my car- should have been totaled, but wasn't - we no call it the family wreck car son # 2 rear ended a tractor trailer at 20 mp last winter

Clarabear, look out for the new washing machines. i was just in my basement swearing at my new washing machine. first of all, you have to look long and hard to get a washing machine where you can choose the water levels. i think i got the last one in existence. then, my new washing machine thinks i'm an idiot who will either put my arm into a spinning barrel, or that i will let a toddler open the top of the machine and jump in, because it has a lid lock system FROM THE BEGINNING of the cycle. i haven't been able to figure out how to override the darned thing.
