hehe, I just scrolled through yesterday's posts and saw the goats again. Gah, they are so darn cute!

How was everyone's weekend? I was still pretty tired yesterday but tidied the house a little before I scrapped in the afternoon.
Cheryl asked in another thread about how our houses are decorated and I am just so discouraged at how rundown and dingy everything is here. I do my best but sheesh- it all needs work. Well, one good thing is that pretty soon, we will start decorating for Halloween and "dingy" will be the decor LOL

Usually, we start spooky decorating for the family's Sept Birthday Bash but we aren't having it here this year. Since we had the Grad party in July, and the engagement party is in Oct., we decided it was too much to deal with. (too much for *me* to deal with LOL). It makes sense but having family parties here really forces me to clean and encourage Gary to get rid of his s*** he piles up everywhere. Last night at dinner, I was teasing Tom that a key to a happy marriage to Caitlyn is to make sure that the basement and attic of their future house are neat and organized.
Speaking of dinner, I made really good vegan pasta and soft rolls for dinner. Lemon pasta made with coconut milk and fake parmesan (cashews/salt/garlic powder/and nutritional yeast). Yeast rolls made with vegan butter and coconut milk. I surprised myself with how good everything tasted. Canned coconut milk?! Who knew??

I have to drive Scott to pick up his car from the shop this morning and then work on my food shopping list. I was going to do some yard work, but it looks like it is going to rain.

hope you all have a fab day!

@LSlycord I am relieved that you are feeling better and your dinner sounds delicious! My heart panged at your "moment" realizing you only needed 3 pork chops. The only good thing when the kids are finally moved out is that they are so often out that I might not notice much difference- Scott was at Leah's every other weekend and now he is at Sam's house a lot on weekends. although that doesn't help me with Caitlyn... phooey *G*
I hope that you are still resting so you will be 100% for the trip.
hahaha, that is such an Auntie thing to do-- buy the gifts that make the most noise. :D:D Maybe postponing the trip is a good thing so you will be able to see your niece

@Cherylndesigns I spoke to BFF yesterday and my nephew is renting an Airbnb for the 2 months. Whew! I am glad they were able to find something so fast. I am not sure exactly where it is but she seems happy with it.
My aunt used to live in Falls Church, she sold condos in DC back in the day
That shop sounds adorable and I love discounts!

What is it with dogs and drinking water? We tell J all of the time to swallow it before she walks around the house, its always dripping everywhere, like the Loch Ness Monster LOL

Cheryl- you aren't a dingbat! And if you are, then so am I!
#kiss Back atcha!

@BrightEyes That had to have been so disorienting to fall asleep and think it was the morning when you woke up. You always come up with fantastic challenges, can't wait to see what you decide on for Oct

Good morning ladies! Didn't accomplish much yesterday but I'm starting to adjust to not accomplishing much. ;) Today's big goal is to get some mums at Costco...hope they didn't all get purchased over the weekend. It's such a nice day here today...mid 80's for a high. This month, the resident's of our county get free admission to lots of the attractions in St. Augustine so I think we may pretend that we are vacationing there. It is really a cool place...very historic...and we haven't seen as much as I would like. So, we will try to rectify that a bit this week...and try to build up some energy for me.

@faerywings so glad that your nephew has found an AirBnB to live in while he does his internship! This is just such a great opportunity. How I hope it turns out for him! The pressure on these kids to find internships and jobs...it's just crazy. Sydney told me the other day that her resume looked terrible. I told her she is a freshman and it is supposed to look terrible. But I also told her that's why she needs to be working on it right now...and that made me a little bit sad. I sure wasn't worried about my resume at age 18. Has Cait found any other jobs to apply for? The politics of the job search is exhausting.

@BrightEyes how I hate it went I wake up from a nap and have no concept of what time it is. And you ladies that host challenges...I am in AWE! Anyone that figures out how to inspire others the way that you do is an extra level of creativity in my book!

Have a great day all. I don't think that I tell you often enough how much I appreciate each and every one of you! You keep me going.

Hi, all. Ended up going to bed early and only read until 9:30. Woke up at 4AM but managed to go back to sleep until 6AM. Dawn was just starting to lighten the sky then. I see some more hot air balloons in the air this morning. It is only 2 weeks until the International Hot Air Balloon Festival kicks off for 10 days. Always love seeing the balloons over our neighborhood during then. Hoping we have good calm weather during it. I need to call and activate my Rx at the base. Will try to get over to pick it up before the weekend.

@faerywings - Yes, I did get a start on the challenge but still looking for the right photo/kit for it. So glad your nephew found the AirBnB to rent during his internship. DC housing is so expensive! Knowing you and Gary... the house will be decorated with Halloween themed stuff soon. I am sure the skeletons will have a place of honor for the engagement party. :D Can't wait to see some photos from it.

@LSlycord Hope you find some mums at Costco. Enjoy sightseeing around St. Augustine... so many historical places to visit. We enjoyed going down there when we live right next to NAS Jacksonville (1958-1960). I am sure there are many chances since then. Glad you have this free time to recoup from your fall.

@Cherylndesigns Did you get some pool time?? We have a new Home-dec store in town that I need to check out soon. Sounds like the new one near you.

Off to get another cup of coffee then get dressed. Have a couple of errands I need to run. Hope everyone has a good week.

Good afternoon, ladies.

I've been up for a while, but have been watching the end of the Queen's funeral coverage. It's taped at this point, I think, but I wanted to watch a little bit of it. Somebody (on the news last night) said it started at 3 AM EST here. UGH - it will be on all day, so I'm sure I can see what I missed. Chuck gets up early so he'd been watching it. We popped our TV on in the living room and watched it while we had our "morning chat".

Chris, your dinner last night sounds amazing. Who knew about the coconut milk? Who knew that food could taste so good. Fake Parm??? LOL I couldn't give up cheese - no way, no how. Like they used to say on Seinfeld "Not that there's anything wrong with that". Hahaha Awwwww, I'm sorry my questions made you feel bad about your house. I'm sure it's adorable and charming! Just trick it out with all of your Halloween stuff and keep them all out until after Christmas. Braxton wouldn't want to miss anything, would he? What's he up to these days??? I thought of you yesterday, I found the cutest new sugar skull at the grocery store. He jumped right off that table and into my cart. BWAHAHA

Good news about your nephew finding a place an ABnB sounds perfect. How ironic that your aunt used to live in Falls Church. Small world. My niece was in real estate for a while too, but she's moved to Florida now.

Yes, those lab/lab mixes are THE messiest - all I did when we had ours was mop up water. They "bite the water". It's so weird - they actually bite it. I was giving Ava's dog a drink out of the hose, and she was biting that. It's in their genetic make up. I knew you'd love the dingbat post. Hahaha We're BOTH dingbats - I'm sure of that.

Linda @LSlycord good luck finding mums. I saw a ton of them outside the grocery store yesterday and I thought of you. I didn't buy any because I have perennial mums in my front gardens and they're just getting ready to burst. Funny story - Adrienne and I were sitting on my front porch Friday and she said "I want one of those bushes you have". I asked her which one and she pointed to the one she wanted. I told her it was a weed and I had no idea how it got in there. BWAHAHA The wind blows SO hard up here and it just blew itself into my garden. It's beautiful and I hate to move it but I'm going to have to because it's growing too big and will soon strangle out my hydrangeas and I can't have that. I told her I'd divide it and give her half - I actually like some weeds - they're very pretty. You know, I have a "weed garden", right? It's at the side of the house. There are lots of wild flowers growing in there - it's not all weeds.

Kay @BrightEyes how exciting that the Balloon Festival is so near! I'd LOVE to see that! I'm so in love with hot air balloons. Enjoy and I hope you get some good pictures. We didn't get any pool time - there were workers up there the whole time - some of Roger's workers have full time jobs and can only work for him on the weekend. The handyman who works for all of us can do most of his work on the weekend. He's the maintenance manager for a big apartment complex and works until dark every night. There's still so much to do around the pool, but they're chipping away at it.

Well, I need to get busy - haven't accomplished much so far, but that's ok - it's Monday.

Have a great day everybody.

I didn't get a chance to pop in this morning, I was out early with Remi for a long day of investigating country roads and finding spots to let Remi run around for a bit. Got back this afternoon, had lunch, did some CT stuff and chores and now its dinner time so the day flew by.
