CHEERY O
Eeek!! Is it *really* the 15th, aka the halfway mark through the month??
More of this from me today ~> :lalalala:

The weekend flew by even though I worked all day yesterday. (And yes, I slept like a rock last night! Woo hoo!) I got to work at 9, left at 4:30, and logged 11,000 steps. The first Forest Bathing Hike went well, but it was actually harder with only three people. I thought it would be easier but no one wanted to share, a lot fewer questions, that kind of stuff. I couldn't reach the birch leaves on the one tree either. LOL! If you take a leaf from that tree and sniff the end of it, it will smell like wintergreen and/or birch beer. Everyone gets a kick out of that, so I was disappointed that I couldn't offer it. We did get to smell the witch hazel leaves. though.

I wrote up the plan for the HS Field Trip for next week. I am not sure who is running it since I'll be at the conference but at least it will be all set for them. Then we had the donors meeting and that was both uncomfortable and fun. I am not super comfy making small talk but after a while, I did ok. I took one of the donors for a quick(er) forest bathing hike. It was kind of fascinating doing the same sensory walk through the woods at different times of the day. When we do it with the kids, such as on a field trip, it is one group right after another. Not to mention our attention isn't on the play of sunlight through the leaves ha! Everything looked so different 5 hours later-- everything glowed. If I were alone, I would have taken photos. If I had a superpower, my first choice would always be teleportation. But having the ability for my eyes to take photos is in my top 10. Maybe even my Top 5.

Today is a work from and at home day. The trustees asked Lauren and me to look at a Grant Offer and come up with a proposal for it. I have never done anything like this before. Have any of you done that and do you have advice?
It cracks me up when I "hob-nob" with the Trustees and they seem to think I know what I am doing. :lol23:
(They are all really awesome people and I love working with them. I only get a touch of impostor syndrome - just a touch that feels like a punch occasionally :p)
I also cleaned my office last week. Can anyone tell me why it looks like a tornado hit again? I can't seem to keep this little space tidy and organized. Pfft.

oops-- I am really behind schedule. Too much time chattering away.

*signing off with a big hug to everyone*
:grouphugyay:

@BoatLady Good luck clearing photos of your phone. I need to do that too. Google keeps telling me I am almost out of storage and I don't want to have to pay to get more. Maybe I need a vacation as an incentive? *wink*
Hoping that your hip feels better today.

@AK_Tracy Are you not a pumpkin spice fan? I like it well enough but not for everything and usually only after Caitlyn's birthday. My normal seasonal change is hanging on to summer until the last possible moment. Cail's birthday (Sept 21) is when I switch to Halloween/Autumn.
Nellie is such a cutie and I'm glad that she is taking things slowly and carefully. How many more days until the stitches come out? Think she will get the ultra-zoomies right after they are gone? :D

@bcgal00 How was Game Day? Did you win? *fingers crossed for ya*
I don't blame you for being cautious with your clothes. Glad that it wasn't moths. That would give me more of an ick-response, even though the remedy might be less expensive than a new washing machine. Hopefully it won't come to that.

@vickyday hope that your stomach is all better today and it stays that way. Can you eat crackers or toast or will anything set it off?

@mimes1 We missed you too! I thought of you the other night- Gary and I watched a PBS/NOVA special called Bird Brains. It was older, from 2017, which means the research has to be even more incredible by now. I was in awe of the problem-solving skills they demonstrated by the birds. They are smarter than some humans I know bwuahahah!
Hope that you get caught up and settled into your routine quickly so you have more time to hang with us here. (priorities, you know LOL)

Usually toast and crackers will work, but I usually just wait it out. I'm feeling pretty good.....at the moment! Always subject to change without notification!

Good Morning,
Hard to believe half of the month is gone already! Slipped up on me! I had to get the AJ challenge posted when Chris reminded me it was the 15th!! I know some of you (aka @AK_Tracy ) have been waiting anxiously! ;)
Nothing planned today except get the car inspection/oil change/tire rotation done so I can get the tags renewed.
Got Mark's laundry done yesterday in the afternoon after church.
I want to do some work in the kitchen cabinets today.....YUCK!!!
Need to get dressed (been awake since Mark left at 5:30) so I can run the deposit to the bank.
Have a great day!

Good Morning Ladies!!! (still morning here so I'm good LOL)

Are you not a pumpkin spice fan?
NO! Hate it! Hate all things pumpkin except the actual pumpkin turned jack-o-latern.
How many more days until the stitches come out?
Three more days. They said day 10 and she had surgery the 8th. We will remove them ourselves. No need to take her in. Thankfully its just four stitches.
I just read in the Cheery O section that Kay is starting to feel better and that DD#3 tested negative and is on her way home.
I figured that I'd share here so everyone would know she is ok. ♥
Thank you so much for letting us know. So glad to hear she is getting better and DD3 didn't get sick.

You know it!!! I was looking last night just in case the time difference worked in my favor :floorlaugh: And today got busy and I wont be able to work on it until this afternoon or evening. How dare the day get busy on me.

Never thought my homeschool career would go this route but now I am helping my DD with her son and reading. I had a struggling to read child and have a few tips and tricks and so I will help her but man my skills feel rusting. Going from high school stuff back to 2nd grade levels. But thankful I can help her out. Tutoring is expensive so if we can do this and it "clicks" it will be awesome. Off to get my sight words ready to be flashcards. Have a great day all!!

Did you teach your kids using phonics principles? My kids always did very well that way in Christian school.

Can't wait to see what you dream up for the AJ challenge! ;)

Yep, we do phonics and we do sight words. The, and, it, they just need to see and know them not try to sound them out all the time. But bigger words we for sure sound them out so they can see the sound each letter makes is important.
