Hello O-zies! How was everyone's weekend?
I was lazy, I didn't do any cleaning. The house isn't too bad, it's just that I hate coming home into a messy house. Even if it is just being away for a day or so, I always have to clean beforehand.
I don't even know what I did yesterday, I didn't pack either. I just gathered a bunch of stuff and tossed it into a laundry basket and left it until today to sort. The weather is gonna be nice!! yay! The only rain is forecast for tomorrow. (although I remember many times when it was supposed to be nice and we got unexpected rain/high tides) -- It is going to be perfect!
I had to laugh at myself- I did my nails yesterday and tried to be so careful to not get the polish on my cuticles. I thought I did a pretty good job until I looked more closely at them today. what a mess Hahahaha!

Both kids are working all day so I won't see them for more than a few minutes. :(
I hope that I can get myself totally packed and ready to roll so tomorrow all I have to do is throw everything in my car and go.

Have a wonderful day, hugs to you all!

@LSlycord Ugh, I feel your software pain, did you ever get PS to reset? The only things I can think of (and you probably already tried) are to reset your Workspace and to look through View to see everything you want to see is checked.
Yay for your upcoming trip!! You must be so darn excited!! Please keep us posted on the job offer too - also such good news
The way Cait has talked, I think she wants the recipes on index cards. She is going to be so surprised and happy that her O-Aunts are thinking of her ♥♥♥

@BrightEyes I am not surprised that you needed to take it easy after the kids all left. Did you have any of the cold spells while they were around? I wonder if it is connected to being overtired? My mom always told me that when you are overtired you "get a chill." Old wives tale or maybe not?
Hahahaha!! I totally will go and bop Rae on the head if she overdoes it!! And you too--- don't make me come and do the same to you :D

@vickyday Great news that you are feeling better!!

@bcgal00 fantastic news for you too for getting out and driving to the park. It had to make you feel semi-human again to be dressed and upright and outside. proud of you for going back to bed afterward.
Tell Jen that we are all wishing her the best today, it has to be a big and emotional step but we are cheering her on!!!

@Cherylndesigns My dad still goes every year to the Fire Dept memorial service for 9-11. He says it's sad that every year fewer and fewer people attend which makes him feel it's more important to show up. He wanted to drive into NYC with a few guys from his company- I had to beg him not to go. What was he going to be able to do, 60 yo man from a volunteer dept?
It's hard to believe it is 21 years.
If you are going to "scold" me about being frumpy then I am going to do the same to you. pbbbbt!!<~ me giving raspberries to you. LOL

@tanteva any election results in yet? I hope that whoever wins is competent and ethical. (At that point you might as well ask for a unicorn *winks*

@Kythe Fantastic news that you are up and walking every day and that you are noticing the difference! I have been trying to do sit-ups every day and I can finally do 20 (don't laugh!!! :D:D) without struggling
I hope that the fires get under control soon and the air clears for you

It's so close, there won't be a final result until Wednesday, when the last votes will be counted. (If you vote in another town than you are living in, it takes a couple of days for the votes to be counted. Also, for those who live abroad.) Looks like it all went effing wrong though. LOL On the other hand, it's so close, it will probably be four more years of chaos, like the last four. Unless, the politicians decide to be adult, and co-operate ... you know like every other adult in the country has to do with their work mates.

But ... I wouln't mind getting that unicorn instead .....

Good Monday morning everyone! It is still smokey here, but looks like its not as bad as the last few days. I had a busy weekend as per usual and still have some cleaning to do inside the house today. We are getting a visitor on Wednesday, an old friend from our Saskatchewan days, she will be spending a couple of nights with us and then I will take her to the airport on Friday. I am thinking that perhaps we should go to the Butchart Gardens for the day before dropping her off for her flight home. We will discuss it while she is here. We haven't seen her for about 20 years or longer, it will be great to catch up with her. Still waiting to hear from the In-Laws as to if they are putting in an offer on the place down at the bottom of our hill. SIL Linda will be in that same complex if she decides she is moving for sure and if her offer is accepted. These units are all in a gated community down in front of the Lake, all very beautiful, but some in need of updating. The one she is looking at is a two bedroom rancher with a huge storage space below. Some painting needs to be done, but not much else except perhaps some updated appliances. The one that the In-Laws like is just below the one that Linda likes and has three bedrooms and a huge walkout basement with a room downstairs that would be perfect for MIL's sewing room, it is ginormous!!! I could fit three of my craft rooms in there. It would be perfect to have everyone so close together, so that MIL and FIL can enjoy the place without the worry of yard work and other maintenance. All of the doctors and grocery stores that they like are 5/10 mins away and SIL and myself and my Gary can drive them where they need to go. Oh well its a waiting game, but hopefully they don't wait so long that they miss out on the opportunity to grab this beautiful home. If everything gets put into place and they move, then I might have to be MIA for quite some time from here. There will be so much stuff to go through, it could take months LOL.

@faerywings - I am so happy to hear that the weather is going to be nice for your time with your Mom!! Enjoy my friend! You deserve the getaway! Hope you get your packing done and that you have time to get your nails re-done LOL.

@tanteva - Ugh politicians!! Are there any out there that don't act like 5yr olds?? Are there any out there that aren't crooked??

I have lots of catching up to do here so I will come back soon to do that CYL!

Good morning Lovelies,

I'm up early for me - woke up about 8:30 but I haven't been productive so far. I laid in bed until about 9 then got up and have been sitting and talking to Chuck.

Chris @faerywings - love your raspberries. I know you won't look frumpy, but I feel super frumpy in a bathing suit! BWAHAHA I didn't care when we had our own pool in Florida, and I was the only one out there - now I'm surrounded by "beach bodies". UGH.

You sound like me when I try to do my own nails. I get polish everywhere! I just don't do my fingernails anymore except clear polish. My toenails are a disaster if I try to do them. That's why I go get pedis about once a month. You're also like me in the fact that I hate to leave my house in a mess - I have always wanted it clean and uncluttered when I leave. Why, I ask you? No idea - just one of my things. LOL

Your poor dad, I'm sure he wanted to go into NYC yesterday. My biggest fear is that in the coming years, it will be totally forgotten. So many people weren't even alive or were so small when it happened and they just don't understand how horrible that day was!! As a firefighter, this has to be so difficult for him. The First Responders were some of the true heroes of 9/11! My grandfather was a fireman and I know how "tight" they are. There's nothing like the "family of firefighters". Tell him thanks for his service!

I'll try to come back and do some more personals later on. Hugs to all of you.

Good morning ladies. I had a good day yesterday, only needed to rest for a few hours and then was able to stay awake after dinner to watch the last two episodes of Westworld. I had to lay down to watch but at least I was awake. Today I have a dentist appt and this afternoon the dogs get their nails clipped. So I have a feeling that I'll be tired and resting a few hours before dinner tonight. I never made it to the store for ingred for my crockpot dish I want to make (crack chicken) but I have chicken so will make roast that with veggies. Hopefully next week I will feel better and we can go to Costco. We're starting to run low on staples.

@faerywings I read that article and it really makes sense. The takeaway from it is that there can be good and bad days, mental/physical stress can increase symptoms and the degree of recovery is extremely varied in severity and longevity. Rest is important and, as hard as it is for me to slow down, I will listen to my body and rest more, probably napping each day for a period throughout the afternoon and evening. Morning is still my best time, when I feel the most normal so until I recover more, I'll get important things done in the morning, not knowing how I'll be later in the day.

I'm watching Bella this morning while Jen works, so I'd better go check on them. When they are too quiet, it's time to see what's going on :)

Good morning ladies! It's a beautiful sunny day here. And I am counting down the days until my Iowa trip. Four more sleeps. Cannot wait!!! I have had an amazingly productive morning. I have spoken with Medicare about what to do if my Medicare begins prior to my group health insurance. (Kind of counting my chickens before they are hatched but they called me this morning and asked me to get my references updated because they want to get started checking them.)

I have found a guy to come out and fix our screen door. Brian got me a beautiful screen door for the front of the house for Christmas. The day it was installed, poor Hayden ran up and thought she could go outside. It made the screen loose and we have just stayed with it all summer...because no way in Florida would I have the screen door open in the summer. But I am counting on the promise of fall...and winter...and I want that cross breeze. So this guy will come to our house and fix the screen here.

Looking at cars. Syd has hers at college. Shaun has his here at home but he is often at school or at work and I'm getting tired of sharing with Brian, especially now that he is back to work. Besides that, the car that we share is so low to the ground that I feel like I fall into it. But, then again, cars are so expensive now. I don't know...we will see.

Good morning @faerywings I cannot believe that it is almost shore time for you and your mom! What a treat that will be for both of you! And, word of advice, don't stress about getting ready. It always works out. One or the other... And an index card it is...does she want 3x5 or 4x6? This has to be just right...I feel like I've known her most of her life...even though I did disappear for 10 of the formative years! But, I'm going to ignore that. And I did try to reset my PS but for some reason, it just isn't right. I'll get it eventually.

@tanteva I agree. I'd take anyone in politics who would act like an adult, realize their ideas weren't perfect and collaborate. I hope it works out. If so, maybe that person could come give lessons in the USA.

@taxed4ever my fingers are crossed for you in-laws to decide and just get on with it. It sounds like the perfect solution...and perfect solutions are so hard to come by. So much going on in your life right now...hope that this doesn't put your remodeling plans on hold but I understand if it does!

@Cherylndesigns you just need to head to the pool when the beach bodies aren't there. LOL I know exactly what you mean about the fear that people will forget 9/11. It was the first time that our vulnerabilities were exposed as a nation in my lifetime. And then, the way everyone rallied around together. I can't imagine it being forgotten but I'm sure it will be.

@bcgal00 so glad to hear that you really are feeling better. I read that article that Chris posted. It is still so scary what Covid can do to people! It sounds like the afternoon will be long so go slow. And, I can't wait to hear about Jen and the kennel. I hope it works out!

Ok...I'm going to try to take some of my good luck from earlier this morning and get it to work in my favor with PhotoShop.

Afternoon, all. Spent this morning trying to get caught up on some computer things and now I am ready for a nap. Yesterday turned into a 'do nothing' day. I got a load of towels done and put away early in the morning but that was it. I sat down in the recliner around noon and fell asleep for a couple of hours... and woke up thinking it was a new morning until I realized where I was.:rolleyes:o_O I have a bit of a sore throat today... pretty sure it is due to allergies as the pollen count is very high but decided to not go the Red Hat lunch tomorrow just in case it is something more. Will be drinking honey and lemon in hot tea and hope that will ease the throat. Still feeling tired so guess I will be napping again this afternoon.

Yes, I was having several cold spells while DD#1 was here even though we weren't doing much except visiting/talking. Only had 3 days without them during her visit. Can't seem to pinpoint why they are occurring as they were happening for several weeks before the kids came. Never turned the fan or the A/C on yesterday and it was 80*F in the house and I was dressed in long pants. But, I am being smart enough to rest and not over-do.

Good Afternoon all!
"Personals" first:
Chris @faerywings I really hope you have a good trip and weather cooperates. I know what you mean about packing! Our recent cabin trip was the FIRST time in years that I packed light- we even shared a suitcase, lol!

@LSlycord Did you go to Fla, or do you live in Fla? We had a great trip there last Jan. and plan to go again in Jan. 23. How nice to see your daughter. Good times with them are so special.
And phooey on Photoshop! I've had issues with mine as well that point to corrupted files. yikes. Not going to buy another copy/version. Just have to keep resetting things all the time. May you get your issue resolved SOON! :)

@taxed4ever What a fragile situation with all the prospective moves. Wise to try to keep out of it. It's difficult when parents are aging, isn't it? Prayers sent for you and the family in these decisions. :D

@vickyday Glad you are doing better. You would have had to deal with a lot of traffic in M.B.! Do you live in S.C.?

@bcgal00 I feel for you. My younger sister has long term covid. She got the vax too. Didn't help, I guess??? She has lost most of her hair as well. But you seem to be a person of strength. Praying for full recovery!!!

@Cherylndesigns Frumpy? YOU??? nope. But I do get the reservations...I have never been at ease in one of those things we call suits!! Except for the time when I went on Senior Skip Day with friends and sneakily wore a bikini. Guess what? I got caught due to my bad sunburn!!! haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Served me right! We here are night owls, so we don't get up early either. Enough of that when we were teaching!

Well, it was an uneventful weekend. We did get the purging done, except for the kitchen ( facepalm here) . It is such a relief. At least a temporary one.
I painted a shirt on Saturday with Dye na Flow - it is paint that acts like a dye but no hand stains and no special "setting" of the dye. It was a blast!! IMG_0627.JPG I will be sticking with this paint as it can be used on silk, natural and synthetics as well as wood and leather!!

More bad news from my sister. :( Mom said that even AFTER having a Business Closing party my brother in law took down the signs from Deb's business and insists she keep it open until January. ?? With Parkinson's she cannot physically run the Curves portion, nor can she do massages any longer. She cognitively cannot do the computer end of the business, and she has misplaced (due to first stages of dementia/covid) her financials. I'm TRYING to be compassionate toward him, but she needs a calm, uncluttered place to rest and live out her life and he is making that impossible. His head isn't straight. I feel helpless apart from prayer. Deb is only 69 but she looks like 80, that change within the past 6 months. I am deeply concerned.
DD Miranda is packed for her global escapades! She leaves Thursday. DS is doing great and DIL is too.
