How time flies... 16 years since 9/11. Isn't that hard to believe? as always, I send thoughts of love and peace to all affected, then and forever.
My SIL sent me some photos of Christopher and my dad at the Memorial Service yesterday. My dad has participated every year since and I have to say how he looks so handsome in his uniform.

Yesterday ended up being "one of those days." But it all turned out fine. The 5 of us went to the Fundraiser and what a turnout! So many people, I was amazed. I figured that it was going to be a tiny thing but it was really fun.I didn't take lots of pictures but the ones I took are cute so you will be seeing them at some point.
They had a petting zoo with everything from bunnies and guinea pigs to a sheep and a potbelly pig. I got a couple of pics of the small tortoises munching on some lettuce and Cait and Leah snuggling with some baby chicks. And the yoga goats! They are these tiny little babies that wander around snuggling on you as you go through the poses. Cait wanted to bring Duncan the Pig home with us. No surprise there. She has such a way with animals I really wonder if she should work with them instead of kids as a career LOL

Scott and Leah were cute. For $1, you could get your picture taken with one of the baby goats s the two of them took one together and of course, I had to joke that it was a picture of their first "kid." (I know, corny as all hell, but can't help myself. )
My IL's popped in for an hour or so and we watched some of the news on the storm. Why does The Weather Channel feel the need to have these forecasters out in the wind and rain??? Then we had a quick dinner and waited to hear from the dog rescue. A little after 6 pm, I called the woman that I had spoken to the day before and she told me that the transport was delayed and wouldn't reach NJ until 11 pm. She will call us today when the dog is ready for us.

So, yup! Today is also going to be another one of those days. I want to get food shopping as early as I can since I don't know when we will be off to pick up the dog. I also wanted to run errands in the afternoon but it looks like that won't happen. Maybe I will have to time to run out tomorrow morning before I have to clean at noon.

Chaos in my brain!!!!!!!!
yes, I had more nightmares last night- being in a glass elevator with the glass cracking and being kidnapped. No stress whatsoever.

Hope that you have a fantastic Monday!

Nancy- what is it with men?? Sorry that you got rope burn, why does your DH insist on using a rope? SMH :p
That is great news about your DS and the BBQ!!! I hope that he does well with it and it sounds like he is off to a great start.
I am so sad and jealous of all of you that get to watch Outlander. Maybe someday it will come to Netflix or Amazon Prime :(

Trudy- woo hoo on blue skies and no smoke! Must feel great to be able to breathe and not choke when you do. I understand how you feel, watching the horrible weather all over and we have had such sunny (even if cold) weather.
That is a strange dream about losing Heather.
How did the patio glass turn out? Were you able to get it all installed without a problem?

Jean- Hope that your football team played well- is the first week of the season?

Hugs to all!

good morning - it is hard to believe it has been 16 years. Still hard to believe it even happened. Also thinking of those lost. The dinner at my son's was so good. Chicken wings, steak, steak fries and corn on the cob. He was even so good because all but my DH like the corn off the cob so he just cut it all off. The steak was so tender and cooked just right. My DIL school system is still working out where pre k classes will be held and that determine whether she will have a class room. Seems like they should have figured this out a before school started. But we had a really fun time. Watched some football and the NY Giants were pitiful. Without their defense the score would have been much worse. The hurricane damage coverage was amazing. And yes Chris it is crazy to see the reporters out where they should not be.

Chris sounds like a busy day yesterday but a really fun day. Bet the photos were awesome. Hopefully the day will be calm. Good luck with the new dog!

Trudy so glad you are getting your chill and blue skies. Hope the day stayed calm after the nice breakfast.

Rae and Jean waving hi!

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... another clear morning and I am loving not having the smoke! Not sure how the fire situation is doing, I will have to check it out this morning. Well as usual I never got to return here yesterday. I did however get all my :washing:
cleaning-smiley.gif
and scrubbed the bathrooms too. I helped DH install the glass after he put up the new railing and it looks so much better than it used to. Why did we wait so long to do it?? We will be so nice and cozy there this fall with the patio heater and no wind blowing through the end of porch. I will have to get a photo of our little hide-a-way spot.

Chris - Yes still so hard to comprehend the horrors of this anniversary of 9/11 and still so many terrible things going on in the world. Will it ever end?? Sorry you did not get to pick up your recovery pooch! Hopefully you won't have to wait around too long today to get him/her! Sounds like the Fundraiser was a big success!! I am looking forward to seeing the pictures and pages from the day! Yes perhaps Cait should think about a career with animals instead of children LOL Very strange dreams my friend!! Hopefully you will be nightmare free this evening!! I can't believe that your Netflix does not have Outlander?? The Netflix in the States carries way more content than our Canadian one. :noidea: Hope your grocery shopping trip goes quickly and without incident today!

Nancy - Time to give your DH a piece of your mind about the way he is with Luther, still using a rope... Ouch on your hands!! I enjoyed the season 3 first episode of Outlander last night too!! Nice to have Jamie and Claire back in our lives again LOL. I wish we could just watch the whole season all at once also, but then it would be Droughtlander again!! Isn't it just nuts how they let those reporters go out in the Hurricanes!! I hope that they get paid very well for risking their lives like that!! :loco: Your son sounds like he is quite the chef on the BBQ!! Everything sounds like it was cooked to perfection! Lucky you, you got to sample all of those yummy things! :hungry: Hope that you and Luther are enjoying a nice day!

Rae - :hello: hope that your work is not too heavy today and that you and Taz get to enjoy the lovely sunny day!

Jean - I watched far too much Irma coverage yesterday, it is heartbreaking to see the damage and to watch those nuts out in the storm when they should all be evacuated!! Surely they could get mounted cameras somewhere that would do the coverage for them. Until they blew away of course :becky:

A quiet day for me today, I will check to see if the Pool has re-opend yet and perhaps get some laps in tomorrow, then hopefully get back to my hiking group this Wednesday. Not so hot now so will enjoy the hikes so much more! Hope to get a page done today also, but I always say that and something always comes up. Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, ladies. We were out at a birthday party yesterday afternoon/evening and then came home to watch Fear The Walking Dead before bed. The wkend flew by. I didn't quite get all the work done I wanted to but am hoping that if I work really hard today I can get caught up. Then the rest of the month will be back to normal...whew. Its been a crazy couple of months with all the holiday relief coverage I've done.

Chris - how exciting to be getting your dog later. Sorry to hear about the terrible dream. The good thing is you wake up and realize it was just a dream.

Trudy - glad you got the glass put in and enjoy your space out there more now.

Nancy, Jean and everyone else....hi...hope all is well.

I'm getting to work now. Have a great day, everyone.

I can so easily recall the bright blue sky against which the unthinkable played out. Can it really be 16 years? It changed our world so much.

By contrast Irma is a force of nature wreaking havoc as it goes. We have a beautiful day, but high clouds will come in from Irma's fringes. Not much impact of the storm is expected here though. The fuss about reporters in harm's way seems a social media happening as they've been reporting like that as long as I can remember. Not smart of course, but irresistible I think.

Chris, hope you get the pooch and quit with the weird dreaming. The fund raiser must have been such fun from your description. How many sleeps until the shore? I'm sure you're counting. Hang in there, kiddo. :hang in:

Nancy, wow, super dinner from your son! And considerate. Doesn't sound like his Dad or brother in that regard. :bounce:

Trudy, your day and the coming ones at pool and hiking sound delightful. Sure hope it all goes according to plan. How nice to have the glass installed and the results so nice. Hope you find that time for scrapping!

Rae, how nice it will soon be getting back to "normal."

Hope it a good one despite the memories and Irma.
