Who is ready/not ready for the new week? It's the first full week of October, how did this happen? My house is spookified and Moe is busy on the front lawn, so we are officially in Halloween Mode! (I added "spookified" to my Grammarly dictionary. I am tired of dismissing it every time it gets spellchecked LOL!)
For those of you who weren't here last October, Moe and Vick are Halloween props that Gary puts on the lawn. It started maybe 15 years ago with a "man" pushing a lawn mover over a pair of jeans. Moe is the lawnmower operator and Vick is the Victim. Gary has pieces and parts of different motors that make the legs move and it typically breaks down a few times a day. But we get people stopping on the street to take photos and that makes it worth it. It's like the neighborhood's official start to the season.
Gary did *not* want to do anything this time, but Scott talked him into it. Within minutes of setting up, the first kid said that he loves seeing it every year. Braxton and Linguine O'Brien watched TV with us last night and only had to hide their eye sockets a few times.

I am working a field trip this morning-- Insect Adaptations-- so I hope to pick up more info and facts to share with everyone I come in contact with. Whether they want to hear them or not. :floorlaugh:

Better get my day started, I am out of practice getting to work in the mornings these days. Wishing all of you a fantastic Monday and week ahead!

heh, I reread what I posted and I sound even more off my rocker than usual.

@vickyday The sun setting makes such a huge difference in the temperature. Add in the wind on the bike and no wonder you got cold on the way home from dinner.
I sure hope you slept better/later last night than the night before. It never seems to make a difference for me the following night. 90% of the time I will still wake up around 1 am, then again at 3, and then again at 4.30 for good. yuck.

@AK_Tracy ((((((hugs))))) to you, my friend! It's hard enough to keep yourself together when you are in pain and to have the added stress of working-- it has to be awful.

@BrightEyes *fingers crossed the wind direction changes for the balloons*
Good luck with the mammo!

@Cherylndesigns Did you get your LO in the gallery? I saw a bunch of pages by Trudy this morning on FB but I don't think I saw any new ones of yours.

Hugs!!

Don't seem to catch a break here. Saturday I drove 4 plus hours to Pompano to spend time with friends...only to turn around to come back home yesterday in torrential rain and 2 accidents. We are getting ready to pack up trailer and take off to higher ground. We were told to evacuate so prepping the house. Most of our friends are heading out of town. I hope everyone in Milton's way stays safe.

Debby, stay safe. Back-to-back storms are so scary. So many people are still exhausted and vulnerable from the first storm. Take care.

I would love to see Moe and Vick (glad the "vic" isn't me, LOL) in action! Not sure attaching a short movie clip is available to do here, but if so, I would love to see it! ;)
Have fun with the insects today, whether the kids do, or not! :floorlaugh:

Good Morning,
Today is the day to straighten up from the weekend. That means putting things back where they belong.....if I'm still not in the middle of a project with them, LOL!
I slept like a baby last night after not sleeping Saturday night!
I spent all yesterday afternoon getting pages ready to upload to Persnickety to take advantage of their fall sale. I uploaded 308 pages from May 2023 to September 2024! Holy Moly! I already had some of it paid for (thank goodness) from where I purchased some prepaid packets of 50 either last year or the year before but never took the time to use. As with everything else they have had to raise their prices, but it is still a good deal to me. I love their turn-around (very quickly processing) and the pages are beautiful! I had 182 8x8 pages, 62 12x12's, and 64 8.5x11's. The 8.5x11's are my motorcycle pages and my ATC scripture collections I've done this year (21 so far!). I need to go ahead and order another 50 of the 8.5x11 because I will need 19 at least for a complete year of the ATCs and the rest I can use for bike pages. Yes, I need to do that! The sale is for 25% off.
Mark just called and wants to do lunch, so I'm going to close this and do another order at Persnickety while the sale is still on today, the last day. The code is FALL2024 if you are interested!
Have a great day!
PS - Thanks to those of you who have been able to participate in my challenge this month so far. The pages have been great! I'm so glad I went with that poem!

Good Monday Morning everyone! It is sunny and chilly this morning, but the fall colours are really getting vibrant! Perhaps a last paddle kind of day on the lake with SIL Linda, when it warms up a bit. It was a busy weekend again and a very expensive one also. Yup we bought a new to us car on Friday. Its a beauty and we love it!! DH fell in love with it right away. The price was actually a lot less than we thought it would be and the mileage is very low for a 2017. We did not want a new car, they depreciate as soon as you drive them off the lot. We also were not quite ready for a full electric vehicle, perhaps the next one will be. Anyway we are loving all the bells and whistles and it will take some time to figure it all out.
New Car .jpg
I hope to make a layout today about our purchase. Just heard from SIL Linda and she is unable to go out today, but perhaps tomorrow, she is off to her first day of Curling. She hasn't curled in over 10 years so she is a bit nervous about it. I am sure she will do well, she used to curl so much with her husband, but lost interest after he passed away. It will be good for her to get back out there! Thinking of all of our O friends who are dealing with yet another hurricane, how very stressful it all must be!! Please stay safe and out of harms way if you are able :praying2:.

I am working a field trip this morning-- Insect Adaptations-- so I hope to pick up more info and facts to share with everyone I come in contact with. Whether they want to hear them or not. :floorlaugh:
Good luck with your field trip this morning, although I know you will be amazing!! Glad to hear that you are all ready for the spooky season!! Good that Scott talked Gary into doing his display again this year, what would the neighbours think if he didn't?? They would never know when Halloween was :vamp1::knifehead::grimreaper:.
Good Morning,

I slept like a baby last night after not sleeping Saturday night!
This is my straighten up day today also, we had my brother and his wife for supper on Saturday night and they spent the night with us, so lots of clean up to do. Wish my DH would call and take me for lunch today, you are lucky to be treated so often to lunch!! Enjoy!! Oh and great score on the photo books I am not sure we have Persnickety Prints here in Canada, but I will have to check it out for sure!

Ok I am off to the shower and then get things back to normal here after having weekend guests. Have a safe day everyone!!

Debby prayers for your safety. Will be sitting here waiting to hear you are safe and that when you go home all is well. My Aunt had to evacuate too, their 3rd floor apartment isn't tall enough for the surge they're expecting. Its super scary and I am praying youre all safe.

Congratulations on the new to you car. Looks like a beautiful car.

Today is also a straighten up day. The only day of the week I dont have to leave my house. I protect my Mondays because of that, not leaving the house. I think I am going to turn my phone off too and really make it a great day. My goal is to sit a bit and rest between bouts of cleaning so I dont end up overdoing it like last week. And I know youre dying to know so I'll tell you, its 28* and the sun wont rise for another 50 minutes. We are on the down slide of light and down to just under 11 hours daylight. We will be down to 5 hours-ish in December.

Coffee is calling my name. Off I go to answer the call.

Anyway we are loving all the bells and whistles and it will take some time to figure it all out.
It's a beauty, same color or close to ours. We love the bells and whistles in the car that had it's 3rd birthday in Sept. Driving to a basketball game a few months after we got it, it's snowing, we don't know how to turn on the wipers, so I'm digging thru the manual while hubs is driving.
Another beautiful crisp day. I wont give you a temp cause I know you hate that :giggle4:
We had our first frost on the pumpkin this morning, not a killing frost, but I won't mention the temp because I'm sure some people would guess 55. :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:

@vickyday Maybe if I count scrapbooks for basketball players, calendars, and pages for others and then finally me, I've made that many since I started scrapping. Persnickety does a beautiful job, I used to have 8x8 there for calendars for our friend's kids.
I feel guilty whining when so many people have it so much worse, but I really, really want my weekend back. Saturday morning I was sitting on my hands so I wouldn't shop, but then the aAnna e-mail came & she had a bunch of classes on sale. I can't afford regular price, but attack the word sale & I was bad, very, very bad. I got no scrapping done this weekend . Saturday afternoon I saw that the newest upgrade to ACDsee was out, so back to downloading. That program has made scrapping much less stressful for me, but upgrade time always chills up my spine. I thought it had gone better this year until I started to use it and none of my metadata & categories were there. That's when the bp shoots up & I start mucking around in the dark trying to fix things and in a panic state dark isn't good. I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to clean up the mess I finally had to walk away from it. There had been a huge Windows update that morning so system restore didn't help either, at suppertime I just walked away from it. I puttered some more on it yesterday morning, but the Vikings game was on at 8:30 because they were playing in London & of course I'd forgotten and Wendell comes downstairs and asks if I found a place we could watch because it wasn't broadcast on national networks here. I refuse to put money into the NFL coffers so I signed up for a trial of Fubo for free so we could watch it. It was a good game, they are playing well this year finally, but I am still irate about the National Anthem. Yesterday afternoon we had a wake to go to @2, it was almost an hour drive but a beautiful day. When we got there at 2 there was already a line, but they had a massive display of photos and memorabilia. She was Wendell's niece's mil, the kind of person I never saw without a smile on her face & only 68 years old. After we were back out in the.car Wendell said, "what do you want to do now?" While go home might have been the logical thing to say, I asked google. Found out there was a winery about 10 minutes away that we'd never been to, AND it was owned by Veterans so we headed there. We tasted 12 different wines, the driver, tastes and I clean up the leftovers I then had a glass of my favorite, which was a difficult decision since we'd liked all of them. We came home with a case of assorted wines and had popcorn for supper. This morning the alarm went off at 4:15 and I got up to go to the gym. When I got up I started the whole upright hound dog thing because I smelled food which was odd, it didn't smell like popcorn, it smelled more like chicken which was even odder. Then it dawned on me, last night I'd taken a giant vacuum sealed bag of Greek Lemon Chicken soup out of the freezer & set it on the counter to thaw, so I gingerly walk over to the counter in the dark & reach out & touch the paper towel beneath the package and it was sopping wet which is when I turned on the lights, and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a leaking bag and chicken soup juice everywhere. Apparently I'd vacuumed sealed the bag after the soup was frozen too hard & it had a hard point that had punctured the, not at the bottom and not on the floor, but under the glass, the soap dispenser, can opener, blender & had almost reached the mixer. I wasn't going to leave that mess to Wendell & by the time I got it cleaned up sanitized I figured that was my workout. I'm going to check out the forums and gallery & fight with ACDsee later.

I turned my phone on Drive Mode so everyone gets the auto reply that I have taken the day off. I put it in the bedroom so I dont see it. Its such a hard first hour not having it but that also tells me how addicted I am to my phone and the games on it. Now its been an hour and other then music I am not missing it. Its a great day! Temps up to 30* and the sun is out! Not raining. Just a gorgeous fall day. Laundry is running. I showered and dressed LOL Dinner is hubs job tonight. And I deleted his phone backup so I have room to scrap. Its a beautiful day! Might need to update sig and a few more challenges. I hope you all have a fabulous Monday!

Yep, been there done that too many times :giggle4: Now it goes in a bowl. Especially if its milk! Those plastic jugs aren't as thick as they use to be and they always split.
I do it too especially when I think it could bleed on the counter, i was too lazy to get the giant soup pot out, luckily I had a box of no salt chicken stock in the cupboard. Won't do that again.

Debby I'm so sorry you have to evacuate. Praying that you stay safe and that your home fares well through the storm.

Good evening loves,

I've been gone all afternoon and just got home to catch up on things. I've been trying to get an absentee ballot since we moved out here. Well, I finally got one and guess what? I have to take it to a Notary Public to have my signature notorized. UGH like I know that many Notaries - I used to be one in Michigan, but you can't notorize your own stuff anyway. There are only about 8 states who make you get your signature notorized, and of course, this is one of them. I guess it's a good thing, though. SO, I started looking online for places to get something notarized. The UPS store in town does it so I made an appointment for 4 today and we also had some Amazon returns, so we killed two birds with one stone (that doesn't sound good, does it?????) Anyhoo, got that done and our favorite grocery store is right next door, so we went over there and browsed. They have THE cutest seasonal stuff there and of course, had the best Halloween cuteness. (Back to the notary - they can't charge you for this, but it's just an inconvenience. Kinda defeats the purpose - what if a person CAN'T get out?????) I don't know if the state you all live in does this, but we can actually go on a voting website and make sure our vote is counted. Good vs inconvenience? You tell me. :floorlaugh:

I'm going to try to do some personals. Chris @faerywings I did get maybe 3 layouts done and they're in the gallery, but the ones I mentioned aren't due for a week or two, so no, I didn't get them in the gallery. I'm also working on a prerelease for Erin. I DO have my Art Journaling Challenge (Week 2) ready to post when the 9th rolls around. That's probably the one I was referring to. I've done 3 out of the 4 October Challenges and they've all been straight from my gut (I mean my heart). It feels like my gut sometimes. I normally feel like I've given birth when I get one of them done, let alone 3. I still have 1 to catch up on.

Debby, my heart goes out to you and all of the people in the path of this latest hurricane. As a former Floridian, I can totally sympathize when what you're all going through. It's such a process of worry, worry, preparation, preparation - no matter what the level is. You just never know and have to be prepared. My youngest DD is still scarred from Ian - we lived in the Ft. Myers area for so many years and to see that area get wiped out, as well as our beloved Sanibel and Captiva - it's so heartbreaking. FM Beach got hit again and they're still not recovered from Ian. We spent every Christmas (2 weeks) on Sanibel for so many years, then when my husband retired, we moved to FT. Myers, very near Ft. Myers Beach. My roots go very deep there.

Trudy @taxed4ever congrats on the new car!!! Looks like Gary got the car he "had his eye on". I LOVE new cars - enjoy it and love every minute of it.

Vicky @Vicky I'll be right over - how inviting that looks.

To the rest of you - you're TOO gabby and my brain is about half fried right now. So, I love ya and I'm sending lots of huge and XOXO.

What a pain. Ours just has to have two witnesses sign as well. You fill out ballot, put it in envelope then seal envelope then witnesses sign on back of envelope.

Well, two witnesses I could "dig up" but a notary is another thing. Anyhoo, I got
er done. Now, I'll mail it tomorrow. :):)

I never finished my story- I just realized. SO, we did not go to Walmart today - by choice, we went to Reasor
s the store we love but the prices are a little higher. We knocked out the things we needed to do - including picking up prescriptions at Walgreens (waiting in line for awhile because they're the only game in town - well, almost, anyway). Got those - felt golden - fought the road construction and that's a huge issue. Smooth sailing, huh? Never. The phone rings and it's Alyssa. "You guys at Walmart?" Us: "No, we didn't go to Walmart today". Alyssa "Can I ask you for a favor - now it you don't want to do it - it's ok") Uh-Oh -that's not a good starter. Alyssa: "Can you guys "possibly" go to Walmart for me?" She needed ranch dressing which Ava told her she had. She also needed "hot" honey - never heard of it before, but we were having pizza and she NEEDED it. OK, we'll go Walmart.

SO, we went to Wally's for 2 items, but I decided to pick up a few things, too. I didn't get the frozen things at Reasor's because I didn't know we weren't going straight to Adrienne's for pizza, so I picked them up at Wally's. There's never a dull moment here. Okay, I'm done. Now, who's the gabby one????? :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:

Yeah, and all the while, we're fighting the horrible road construction and going blocks out of our way - "could you swing by Walmart and pick up 2 items for me?" :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:
