Here we are, the last Monday in October. That is pretty wild. Even more so with the upcoming holiday season. I am 100% *not* ready for that! But I should give myself plenty of time to not worry 'bout that just yet. There will be plenty of time to do that later.

I was so happy to see my parents in good spirits. My mom looked good!! Her energy is up a bit and while her voice is still very gravely, it doesn't sound as weak and thin as it had even just a couple of weeks ago. I was asking Caitlyn what she thought since I knew that she would be honest with me and she felt the same. Scott asked about her when we had dinner (he was at Leah's this weekend) and Gary agreed.

My mom is determined that we are going back down the shore next year and Caitlyn told me that research shows that elderly people who have goals/reasons to live (in their opinions) have long life spans and better health outcomes. That is good to hear. My dad looked good too and there was no bickering. Whew!

I made baked chicken breast and Yukon gold mashed potatoes for dinner last night. I could live on mashed potatoes. :hungry:
Today I have to run over to the food pantry and Walmart to buy the spackle and ceiling paint. Next week I will get the paint for the walls. I decided to go with Benjamin Moore. Everyone seems to swear by that brand the most. I had used it in the past when I had more money to spend but then switched to cheaper brands when I didn't. However, it makes sense to use a good quality paint if I only paint once every 10 -15 years LOL

Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Kay- you posted while I was posting yesterday. You had an excellent day with your girls-- great news about your ears too. I hope that D-SiL is able to get the computer straightened out and cleaned up for you soon. You are having T-giving early, IIRC?
Gary had me flipping between laughter and exasperation yesterday. He wants me to paint the DR too. It all opens to the LR/kitchen but I was really only planning on painting the ceiling in there. I love how he suggests what I should paint when he doesn't paint. (OK-- in all honesty, he is not allowed to paint. He is terrible at it!)

Nancy- we did get rain but it wasn't as heavy as we were expected to get. How about by you? It is always pretty to watch snow on TV --not so much in real life. heh. You had a sports-filled day. Bet it was a lot of fun.

Trudy- You had a very busy weekend and have a fun time with your friends today! I haven't seen Hotel Mumbai, but I looked it up on IMDb - looks interesting
Excellent idea that if I don't like the color I can ask to have it retinted. You are so smart!

Toque vs. beanie:p How do you pronounce toque anyway? Took rhymes with spook?
When I was growing up, we called beanies coupalinas (sp??) and we pronounced that as "ghoopaleen" in the Italian dialect my grandparents spoke.

Jean- I am relieved that DH is feeling better, it must be worrying when the fevers take long to break. Are you feeling by better today? I hope that you were able to snuggle under some blankets and watch some tv or read or rest. Much luck to you in getting your data work done for tomorrow.

Felis- The weird changes in weather always seems to give people colds. I know that scientifically it shouldn't work that way but it seems to. I am really sorry to hear that your parents are bickering. Believe me-- I understand that. :(
I agree with you- I would rather have it dark in the mornings and lighter at night. When I was teaching before Scott was born, I was an hour away and left at 5pm in the pitch dark. Driving on the winding, dark roads with the leaves blowing around while being huge and tired and pregnant wiped me out by the time I got home at 6. If even just a portion of the drive was light, it would have been so much easier. And at that time of day, there were still kids getting off late buses and dog walkers. Well-- that was a ramble...
On to your good news-- I am happy that you are enjoying Brassic! Watching it with the fireplace on and warm socks-- a perfect way to savor it!
I knew you would get a kick out of seeing the rats driving around.
You look so cute in your glasses, but ask about contacts the next time you go in. There are so many options now. You should be able to find something that will be comfortable to wear.

xoxoxo!

I love autumn, the colors, the smells, all the cozy activities inside! I like gloomy days, and the rain lullaby on my roof. But this year the weather is so strange that I have difficulties to get into right mood. I can't organize my day, so I wasn't able to finish anything I started today! I wasn't able to apportion properly the light part of the day! I was out in a usual time, to clean up my yard, I'm stop to talk with my neighbor literally for five minutes, and suddenly I found myself into the twilight. I couldn't see what I'm cleaning, and Chris (as it looks like that today will be only two of us) I know that you'll understand me, when I complain that no one wants to start her day cleaning her yard after the dogs. But there is no other option, except to leave it for tomorrow. Was plan also dog walk and meeting with my acquaintance, to bring her the DVD, but had to ask dad to drive me with the car and to not stop by. Luckily she showed understanding and couldn't to not agree that no one wants walk in this dark cold evening, which suddenly became after another hot afternoon. So we let our meeting for another, better planned time.
In this post is used too much "I" and "and", excuse me, but I'm still little bit pissed off and grumpy, which makes it difficult for me to express myself better.

So, Chris, it sounds as the painting project will be bigger. It make sense to me, all rooms to be doing now, when you are enthusiastic about this refreshing. The good news about your mom makes me happy! Hope you'll survive after the shopping, LOL! Definitely expensive paint once in decade is better than cheap which will need replacement on the next year. It's a long term investment, so as they say: ''The cheap comes out expensive''.
Oh, exactly, I knew you'll understand me about the dangers at getting dark early!

I'll keep my mouth shut, about the upcoming months, because even the hint drives me crazy. I have so important appointments in my schedule and so many holidays/gifts choosing, that both things scares me. It's time for celebration, but before that is time to do all goals procrastinated till now :boink: . So yes ITA, it's such a madness how fast October fly away.

Sweet dreams for now (it's a little after midnight) and calm end of the month! :ranger:
