I would like to take a moment to remember those we have lost over the course of America's short history.

The pacifist in me also wishes that the best way to honor and remember is to stop sending more to die. :(

The part of me that appreciates the strength of the soul has to share these photos:

I had seen this photographer's work with the SCAR project, and he has done it again. He seems to shatter my soul, but then rebuilds it with each image. Very touching.

Seeing them also comes at a good time for me. I have been in so much pain, feeling so poorly, and had been getting pretty depressed and down. How can you see these photos and not feel lik you got such a kick in the ass? I woke up this morning, feeling determined to work through the pain, but this is a jolt to make sure that it happens.

How are all of you doing today? Ready to kick off the summer? We should have some nice warm weather here today. Yesterday it was nice out in the sun, but inside it was so cold. At least it was for me, Gary was warm, while I was walking around with my Linus blanket.;)

Gary and I have gotten Scott addicted to Arrested Development. Last night we watched the Mole episode and the three of us were laughing so hard. Hysterical!!

Today, I am going to try to catch up on some housework and then I have to drive Brendan to work around noon.Maybe I will try to work a bit outside after lunch. Like I said, I am going to work through this andget my attitude re-adjusted. :fish:

If I am going to do all of this, I had better get rolling....

Hugs to all of you!

PS: If any of you will be BBQ-ing today- can you eat a burger for me?
I don't eat red meat at all. The last time I had a burger was a year ago, and it smelled so darn good, but upset my stomach like mad. Yesterday, someone in the neighborhood was grilling and oh-YUM!! Smelled amazing!!!! But now I know better-- it is *not* worth it! LOL

From Sunday:

Sharon- any more updates from the kids? Hope that they are settling in!
NJ had a bill working through the state legislature about allowing pump your own gas. The backlash against it has been strong and very funny! There is a saying "Jersey Girls Don't Pump Gas," well it looks like Jersey guys want nothing to do with it too.
When I was in college in PA, I had to learn to pump my own and why in the world would anybody want to do that on a regular basis?? heh!

Trudy- did you get that darn fence painted?
Congrats to your brother for g-baby #4!

jean- 4" of rain... wow. Be safe, I saw some headlines about rivers washing out in OK/TX.
I am going to have to check out your blog next :)

Nancy- Poor Rex and Ashley's car! Ray has been playfighting with Jaida and if I didn't know what a mush she was, I would be terrified too- that low growl sounds so intimidating.
Hope you had a nice time at the BBQ!

xoxo

Morning ladies and I hope you are having a good a Memorial Day for all of my USA friends!! I hope everyone enjoys their Monday off!! A great day to scrap about your wonderful Country, Land of the Free, Home of the Brave!! Here's hoping it always stays that way!!

Chris - That article... Wow!! Powerful stuff!! It is so sad that these wonderful men and woman have to sacrifice so much, thank goodness for them and all of those who have fought so bravely to keep our Countries Free! Yes it would be wonderful if we never had to send anymore to die or be wounded! They are the reason that we are free countries, if not for them the Real War would be here in our own back yard!! Ok that's enough said from me :tape: I hope that you are able to get out of your funk and get that attitude adjustment that you are seeking! Sometimes we get into a rut and it is very hard to crawl out of it, but I know that you can do it!! :boxing: One day at a time my friend, one day at a time!

I am up a bit earlier than usual and hope that perhaps this Monday I can get into the pool this morning. Or maybe I will wait until later in the afternoon and see if that is a better time to go. I don't want to have to cut back to only two days a week for swimming, I find that it is just too long of a wait in-between swims if I only go twice a week. Ohhh poor me :becky: Really I feel ashamed complaining about my silly problem
embarrassed-smiley.gif
when there are so many with real problems in their lives!! Shame on me!!

Well not much else happening here today, some housework to catch up on and hopefully I will get busy with some scrapping today! I hope everyone has a great day and that we all appreciate just how lucky we really are!!

Cloudy today in OK but maybe won't rain. Plan to bird and look for a special cicada hatch.

Chris, hope you get to feeling better today. Comparing ourselves to those with greater burdens can be inspiring, but it's tough when hurting no matter what. Having that puppy still seems like a lift.

Trudy, hope you get in the swimming and have a good, quiet day.

I still find it hard to think of today as Memorial Day. For me it will always be May 30. Of course, I'm old enough to remember it as Decoration Day too. Having worked many years for the Navy, armed forces seem like extended family.

Hope it's a safe and happy day for all.

Morning all. Although most mornings I still wake up too early, I have been a Sleeping Machine the last couple weeks. What a wonderful improvement!

Chris, hope you can get to a happier, more peaceful place soon.

Jean, good luck finding the cicada hatch (although it sounds more like an insect than a bird to me...maybe it EATS cicadas???). It's another gray day for us too.

The pool is closed today, so I luxuriated in bed with a carafe of coffee. aaahhhh. Feeling a little guilty, but not much. ;)

We talked for over an hour and a half with DD in Utah last night...mostly she talked...telling us details about the move. Glad to report that there were no dropped appliances or injuries either to people or property! WHEW! They are all exhausted, of course, but there was a huge crew of neighbors...from the old neighborhood as well as the new, that helped them all day Saturday.

Dave's sister's husband has been quite ill for a couple years, and it has culminated in several hospital stays and intestinal surgery. He had another emergency trip to the hospital a couple days ago. Not sure if he's still in the hospital or home again, but we're going to go visit him/them today if SIL gives the okay.

Happy Memorial - Chris thanks for the article. It is so true that people do not want to see this side of war. Thanks for sharing it is important to remember these brave men and women. I just got back from our town's parade. It always make me feel good to go to a parade and hear the patriotic music from the school bands. But best of all today is my anniversary. Hard to believe it has been 41 years + 4 years before that while I was in college. Today is really just a lazy day. Yesterday's BBQ was so much fun. It was fun to see my sons' friends with their kids. We had Patrick and Jacob both around 3 who played and never argued. Too cute. It is just so awesome to see how these kids who are now in their 30 have matured with jobs and girlfriends or wives. Makes me have hope for our future. The food was so good and there was plenty and huge variety. I am stuffed yet Charles and Ashley brought home DQ Blizzards and I had to eat it. Came home around 8 pm and I was tired and felt the kids should have the night for themselves. Watched hockey and Tampa was awesome! This morning came home from parade and they brought home bagels for us. So good!

Chris again thanks for the article! Hope you have a great day! Get through the pain but don't over do!

Trudy no shame! Being in healthy is something we all strive for! Have fun at the pool! Good to know the US has a strong northern neighbor!

Sharon any updates on the move. Did the clouds go away. Today we are having partly cloudy with high in the 80s Awesome! How did your gathering go yesterday.

Jean so scary to see all the rain that OK and TX are getting. Hope it stops for your visit. I agree you can still bird watch in the rain but in good weather it is better LOL!

Have a great day all!

Nancy, you and I cross-posted! You may have to join the sync. swim team! Sounds like a wonderful time for you. AND! Happy ANNIVERSARY! Glad you had such a fun BBQ. I LOVE watching toddlers/preschoolers playing together. They are truly a mystery. Parade...bagels...life is good!

This morning DD has been sending me pictures of Life At The New House...her DH out on the patio putting the patio furniture together. Imagining myself having coffee on the patio there next month. ...photos of the 2 littlest guys playing in THEIR back yard! SO precious. She posted a photo of her feet as she was soaking in her nice big bathtub last night...candles alight in the corner...on Instagram.

Yesterday's meeting was smaller than usual (long weekend), but a blessing. I found an old song by Don Francisco, "I'll Never Let Go of Your Hand," chorded it out so I can play it on the autoharp, and played/sang it for the group. Everyone wants me to teach it to them. Very 70's folkish.
