I know that we try to keep the O a Politics-Free Zone (mostly to keep me off my soapbox!) but wow is it a great day!!!!
Just like I will never, ever forget where I was on 9-11, I'll never forget last night. I was in bed, asleep and my dog kept waking me up. Around 10:30 I let her out and Gary calls out to me that Pres. Obama is going to be making a speech. 10:30 on a Sunday night, I knew it had to be big. So i went upstairs to hang out and see what was up. Just fabulous news. As y'all know, I am hippy-dippy, anti-death penalty, but I could not be happier to hear that Osama is dead. ha!!

Iposted it on FB- but had to share here too. Between the NYFD/NYPD and all of our military I am so happy today. (now- lets bring them all home, please!!)

laurie- your new plants sound great! i don't get enough sun and I have really bad soil so i can't do much more than limited flowers and herbs in pots. Have a great time with your fruits and veggies!

morning all - went into work y'day to play catch up before I go on vacation- then grocery shopping- now back to work today. It is going to be rainy for the next few days- ughhh Well it will make planting my rose bushes and digging the other bushes out much easier!

I agree the news made my heart sing-and it brought back all the memories of how that name struck me with terror back when the world changed forever- unfortunately we can never go back- it is a part of the fabric of us now.
 
I was still up when I heard and turned on the news.....I didn't believe it at first.... But after the speech...I cried...just like I did when I sat and watched 9-11 (I was at home that day and could not tear myself from my telelvision for days). I really thought this day would never come!!!! But I agree....It's a day to celebrate!!!!

I gotta run....gotta pick up Jesse.

I was turning on the puter this morning, and DH asked if I've seen any news. We were thinking about the situation in Libya, since Gadaffi's son was killed the other day. And when I got to the national news paper's web site that I usually go to all I saw was a big EXTRA! all over the page - had to scroll down to see what the news was.

Really - I have mixed feelings about this. I really don't like being happy about a person being killed. Also - I'm scared what will come. Revenge give birth to revenge. Too much testosterone in this world ;)

I don't want to be excited that someone was killed but I just can't help it. I know this will not end the Al Qaeda terrorism and might even make it worse for awhile, but it sure sends a message the US will seek justice when they are wronged so horrifically. I am so proud to be a veteran and currently still a part of the military system. I want to hug the guys who are responsible for the mission. I hope this brings a sense of closure to all of those who lost loved ones during 9-11. I am definitely a proud American today.

So, on to other things. I am exhausted this morning and about to go back to bed. I told Derek yesterday that if I took a nap I'd be up all night and he insisted the whole family take a nap with him so I was up past 3. I may have ended up being up that late anyway though. I was putting together my sister's wedding announcements and looking up a honeymoon registry for her. She prefers cash as a gift (she doesn't realize the wedding is a great way to get rid of all her hand me downs) and honeymoon registries are a great way to accomplish that. The invitations look really nice and thanks to Kayleigh's husband every piece also has the Spanish translation on the back. I had wanted to make some of them straight Spanish but my sister's fiancee thought his Peruvian friends would be insulted thinking it was us saying they couldn't read English and not a gesture towards his country and language for those who share his background. So, onto the back it went into every invitation instead. That worked out easily enough. So now today I have to mail them to my mom/sister so that they can do the finishing touches. Oh, and a little new added drama to the wedding...my sister has been working on what the men will be wearing in the wedding. Derek offered to wear his uniform, which would save us some money. She then proceeded to attack Derek's patriotism and made some very uncool comments. They straight up pissed me off and while I didn't attack her and create any major issues I definitely called her on it. I then called my mom and so she knew how I felt about the situation. Eventually my sister processed everything that was said and called my mom. She asked her if I was upset so my mom played dumb saying I hadn't really said anything so my sister replayed the conversation to my mom who then told her "That was pretty mean." My sister had decided that the guys could wear black suits (of which I told her Derek didn't have) so it would end up costing more than if they just rented tuxes. So she continued thinking about it for the next few hours and kept sending me texts asking questions about the uniform. Finally she talked to her fiancee who had no issues with it whatsoever...I'm guessing it would be expected in a Peruvian wedding, so she ended up saying it would be fine. Good thing because Derek would not wear his uniform for just anybody and for him to offer was a pretty big deal. I swear she has lost her mind.

Today Addie and I will be doing a craft. That should be fun. Not quite sure what craft that will be yet but it should be fun. Okay, I am wearing down. Time to go back to bed. 3-4 hours was not enough sleep for this girl.

Chris - We may not agree on much politically but we definitely agree about today. Yay!! That photo is amazing. I love it!! I may have to find it myself.

Laurie - where are you going on vacation?? I hope you get everything taken care of and have a safe trip.

Nana - I know what you mean about today. I find it odd that both last night and on 9-11 I was doing something wedding related. But the news is amazing indeed. I was crying last night too. I was completely overcome with emotion.

Eva - I feel your concern about issues that will arise from the death of Osama and i will continue to pray for the military that is deployed right now. My poor neighbor is probably freaking out since her husband is deploying to Afghanistan tomorrow. Maybe we will be lucky and they will get the message that the US will not cease and stop their terror. Here's to hoping!!

Dumpty - Am I still sleeping? I must be having a dream seeing you in here. Hahaha!! i am so glad you found some inspiration and are popping your head in to say hi. I'm sure you will not recognize a lot of new faces but hopefully you will hang out a bit and make the new faces your newest online friends. Glad to see you back in here.

okay my take.....the confirmation is not 100% and even if it IS him...the war is FAR FROM OVER! this is only going to open up a new can of worms....it would be silly to let our guard down and ask for all the troops to come home....no matter what that cannot happen...no matter how much everyone wants it...it just will not happen.....do you think bin ladens followers will just let this go?? of course not! they will try to retaliate...and the whole world especially the US must be prepared
 
Good morning my favorite "O" ladies! Wow what big news for our American sisters and brothers! It is wonderful news for those so hard hit by 911, but why was he buried at sea? How are we ever to know for sure that it was really him?? What kind of retaliation will there now be??? I shudder to think!!

I was MIA over the weekend, very busy with cleaning and yard work and then had a bad case of the 26oz flu :sick: LOL. Had a great time with my brother and SIL also had my nephew Stephen over and we had a lot of laughs, so nice that my hubby loves my family too! So I was a bit out of sorts yesterday. :dizzy:

Sorry that I do not have time for personals today :hurt:, I have to get to work but before that I have to get out and vote. It is election day for us and its an election that none of us really thought was necessary, but whatever! So I am off to vote for our Prime Minister, I really like Stephen Harper and think that he has done a wonderful job as our Prime Minister.

Hey kiddos!!!! Kaylea and I are having a blast!! :) just hanging...making sure the kiddos are doing what they are supposed to...

Tomorrow we are going to the museum to see the Texas exhibit...that's what every good Arkansas girl should do when on vacation...go to Texas and see a Texas exhibit...we are so cool! :)

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hey!! love you all!!
