Happy Monday! How was your weekend? I had a nice day yesterday, Vax went fine although I was definitely "overstimulated" by being around so many people for such a long time in a year! My arm is sore but nothing that I cant deal with.
It was amazing to have my parents inside my house. We could actually talk to each other. We all had masks on and were spread out but it felt more like a "real" visit. My dad just casually dropping health bombs on me... sure...
To make a long story semi-short, it started when I asked him if he were able to get pain relievers for the shoulder pain. His shoulder joint is bone on bone and all of the surrounding soft tissue is gone. He said he still has them left when he had pains in his side in January and the Dr thought it might be kidney stones. A CT scan showed no stones but a nodule on his lung. The pulmonologist says the nodule is not cancerous, just watch it. But while at the Pulmonologist office, he notices an irregular heartbeat. Brings him upstairs to my dad's GP and has him to an EKG immediately. Yup, irregular heartbeat. The cardiologist has him wear an EKG monitor for 14 days and everything checked out except he's allergic to the medical tape and has hives and blisters all over. My parents never said a thing. [frusty smilie rolling pin smilie] He also mentioned that he had to postpone one of the first appts because he was waiting on a COVID test after he was exposed but my mom had let that slip a while ago.
Now before you all (correctly!) remind me that I don't tell my parents everything either, it just seems like over the course of the six or seven weeks this happened that someone could tell me one tiny bit of info!
My goodness, my family is [rolls eyes smilie]...

After dinner, we played a game of Cards Against Humanity. whew, it was a crazy one. The kids censor the worst of the cards when they play with mom and dad but I had one that I wasn't comfortable using and had in my hand the entire game. In the last round (we play until all of the cards are gone, not just when the first person wins the number of cards needed according to the rules) we all have one card left, Caitlyn reads the phrase and the Awful Card I am holding works in it but I can't give it to my daughter to read! I had it over and whine that don't want to give it to her. She reads the card and the three of them stare at it in silence. I am shouting at them, "I didn't want to play this card!"
:D Then everyone was laughing hysterically and decided that this card should also be removed from the deck when the parents are around haha!!!

Today I have a bunch of stuff to do around the house, the biggest is the food shopping and coupons and dinner ideas. 100% excitement. *G*
Hope you'll have a fab day!!

@felis Yes, I feel that too, it is like a timer goes off and says to me "Too many people, too long inside, Time to Go!" ;) When the kids were little, especially Scott who loved construction trucks, we watched Monster House where a team would come in and have to renovate a house with a theme in some short period of time. Other than that, I don't watch them since it only gets my mind going to things I hate about my little quirky house that I want to change. Remember how often I complained that I was jealous over Cait's new floor? Imagine me watching a TV show that has an unlimited budget and professionals doing the work? haha!

@LSlycord Some things are good with the pandemic and getting to cheer your old team virtually is one of them! I got to see some of Christopher's talent show last weekend and it was something I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. Good luck tomorrow with your vax appt. It was exciting!
Enjoy the temps for me, please!!! Other than boarding windows, is the hurricane prep much different than the blizzard prep you were doing in Iowa?

@taxed4ever That sounds nice to be able to visit with your ILs and help them a bit. Your MIL sure is stubborn, she and FIL make a *fun* team, don't they? I hope that you and your hiking group can get together again soon. Your reply to me yesterday sounds about as rollercoaster-y as I do hahaha!!!!!

@Cherylndesigns the sun must feel fabulous on your face! The dogs must be loving it too.
My kids (24 and 22) each have a few friends that have kids and/or married and it seems so young. Gary and I were married at 24 but that seemed older than the kids are now. So weird, right?
I can't imagine doing surgery on a rat- mindboggling, right?
Wait a minute- your DD got fined for the wrong color flowers???? What the heck!!!!! What happens when you plant seeds and they reseed and turn out hybrids? My morning glories were a mix of pinks that I collect from year to year and I throw in a packet of blue or purple every few years. But I never know exactly what color I will get until they bloom. That is bonkers!
New Ttitle for you: Dictator Cici Chairman of the HOA :p

@felis It took me a while to figure out how to best navigate the alerts and gallery comments too.
Your translation of laptop made me laugh! You are too cute!!

@Cherylndesigns can't wait to see the LOs- please tag us!!

xoxo

Good early morning everyone! I am up with my Gary this morning, had a terrible nights sleep. I tossed and turned for half of the night. That's what I get for falling asleep on the couch!! So I figured I may as well get up and get him a good breakfast before he heads out to work. Not much to do today, except clean the bathrooms. I got all my other cleaning done yesterday and laundry done too. Watched the Devils beat our Bruins, don't know why but they seem to play so awful against the Devils and then play so great against the better teams (sorry Nancy). Oh well I am happy for Nancy that her Devils won! Hope to get a page done today and other than that I have no plans, maybe the sun will come out and I can get in a nice walk this morning.

@faerywings - Had to laugh about your Mom and Dad keeping all the health issues a secret from you, it is the same with my In-laws! They tell one of their children a little bit, then another something else and the only way we hear the whole story is if we give the other siblings a phone call LOL. It is nice that you were able to have the nice visit though! Your game of Cards against Humanity sounded like it was a hoot!! Now I am curious as to just what your card had written on it LOL. Seems like you always have so much fun when you are all together, how wonderful! Good luck with your grocery list and meal planning, ugh I hate planning meals too!!

@felis - Awww Happy International Women's Day to you also! I hope you have a lovely one!

Well I am going to look for some Instapot Recipes for our dinner tonight, doesn't that sound like fun?? (NOT!!) Have a great Monday everyone!

Have a few minutes while I am waiting for the house to warm up so I can get my shower. Going to be a warm day... up to 70* for a high! Tomorrow will be slightly cooler but warm enough I can get by wearing a short sleeve tee with a light sweatshirt when I see my Primary Care doc. Nice to have some warmer days even though the nights are still fairly cool - mid-30's. I have been taking a bit of a break - sitting in the recliner with feet up reading. That has helped some with the foot - but it aches still when it is down while I work on the computer or if I am standing/walking. So I am limiting my time on the computer.

Chris, had to LOL over your game/card and you not wanting to give the card to Cait. Sorry about the issues with your dad and them not telling you about it. But, glad you got to have a good visit with them in person.

Trudy, so sorry about your broken sleep last night. Hate when I have a night like that. Maybe you can get a nap later on today.

I got my laundry sorted and will try to get all the loads done today. Then on Wed will try to get the sheets changed on my bed and that load done and put away. Thursday will be my 2nd vaccine shot so not planning on doing much through the weekend.

Had a nice one-on-one online visit with DD#2 yesterday. We ended up chatting for an hour and a half. They are still looking for a house to buy in their area. Hope they get one soon so they can get settled permanently.

Happy International Woman's Day to all.

Hello and Happy International Women's Day!!

Chris @faerywings I was cracking up about your card game. I have never played that game, but have heard so much about it. I think it's pretty typical for your parents to not tell you things. They don't want to worry their kids. Chuck will tell the grandkids but not the kids. I guess he knows they won't run and tell.

I love that new title "Dictator of The HOA"! Our son-in-law was pouring a big cement step for us and I yelled to him "Hey Mr! Did you get permission from the HOA to do that"??? We both laughed SO hard. We always say "we ARE the HOA"! Yes, my dd got written up for planting white flowers - those HOA's are crazy. Theirs was horrible - they got written up about once a week for something. We got written up once because somebody who was visiting was "hanging over the edge of the driveway". UGH - I sure don't miss that bs.

I am enjoying the sun and Ava sunbathed yesterday on her deck. She said she had to start getting her tan back. We're all pale like ghosts by now. We always had tans - you get them in Florida if you're out of the house on a regular basis - you don't even have to try. Guess who's getting a lounge chair - ME!! I have a deck right out of my scraproom door. Lila went home last night - her mommy and daddy are home. We had her for 4 days. I think Daisy's worn out. Haha

I will definitely tag all of you when I get my LO's done. I have one side done, but have to do the other side for it to make sense. Chuck took about 25 pictures of me and I was only able to acceptable use 3 of them. LOL His photography skills aren't very good.

Kay @BrightEyes I'm so happy that you're getting to visit your family. Hopefully, this covid junk will soon be behind us. I'm happy for you to be getting the warm weather again. Our nights are chilly here too, but I can deal with that. It's 70 degrees right now! YAY! Good luck with your doctor appt today. We JUST found a doctor (well, a nurse practitioner) and we loved her and we found out today that their practice is closing. We have to start all over. I just HATE trying to find a doctor.

Trudy @taxed4ever I hope you find a yummy recipe for your instapot. I still think we need to get one of those and an air fryer.

Oh, tada I got a layout done for Challenge #3 - the artists challenge. I did a collage where I used a picture of my Corvette (back in the "day") and a picture of me and the girls. I manipulated all of the pictures and painted on my LO to get the color blocking. It was a lot of work, but I was so inspired by Betty Jo's @Betty Jo that I gave her a standing O. She used James Dean and a Corvette so I kind of got the Corvette idea from her.

Going to go post it and then I have to do some chores today. The Peeps are all coming over for dinner after everybody's been scattered for the last week. Have a great day everybody.

good evening - Happy International Women's Day. It annoys me though that there has to be a day to recognize women. We should be past the need to give us a day. Oh well - never sure where the day goes but it does. Had a 90 min class with Anna Aspnes where she deconstructs pages from her team. It is always inspirational and at the same time I am in awe by their what they do to get the final results. I also made a nice pasta dinner. I love dinners that only take about 30 min from start to finish and then tastes awesome! Had a good walk with Luther and OMgosh it was nice out. Not warm enough for me not to wear gloves and a hat but you could tell it getting near spring. Yes my Devils defeated the Bruins 1-0. If the Devils only played the Bruins they would be in first place. They just cant consistently defeat the other teams in the division. The good news of the day is that people who are fully vaccinated can be with others who have been vaccinated without masks and no social distancing. Yea! Things really are getting back to normal for those that are vaccinated too bad those that are not cant just hang in for a few more months. I hate seeing all the gatherings for spring break.

@faerywings Chris congrats on the first shot. Yep all we had after the first shot was a sore arm. It must have been so fun to have your parents around. And now the new guideline say you can be together once you have your second shot! You can get your hug! Maybe now they wont be able to keep their health issues from you.

@taxed4ever Trudy it is something how well the Devils play the Bruins. Sounded like fun to bottle wine and play tunes! Glad you are able to help the ILs. So sorry you did not get a good night's sleep.

@BrightEyes Kay congrats on the weather warming up. Keep the foot up. Enjoy reading or scrapping.

@Cherylndesigns it is so funny to see you are now the Dictator of the HOA. Glad you are getting warmer weather.

Waving to all.
