happy beautiful Monday from NJ! It cooled off overnight and it's not humid ATM at all. It looks to be a fantastic weather day. I still haven't unpacked the party stuff. I am wondering if I really need to do it at all? I probably do, I will put myself into an anxiety attack the day before the party. It would be silly of me to not head it off by being lazy.
I should make that my incentive to go outside this afternoon- carrot and sticks. That's a big "carrot" for me

Speaking of carrots/carats...

What a transition that is. Just wait for it!

Any ideas??

Tom proposed last night!
(she said yes)
We knew that it was going to happen at some point. Did I mention last week that he asked Gary for his "blessing?" I can't remember if I did, but I don't think so. At any rate, he talked to Gary and to me, and of course, we approved.
They were leaving the zoo and Caitlyn kept saying what a perfect day it was, one of the best days of her life. Then he gets on one knee and proposes. <3
Earlier in the day, we laughed about her stuffed animal collection when she was a kid. She couldn't go anywhere without getting a stuffed animal and would sleep on the floor because there wasn't enough room in her bed for her and her crew. To this day, she can't get rid of them because they have names and are her friends. They walk in the door while we are watching TV and I see that she (naturally) has a new stuffed animal. She is holding out the anteater and is stroking his snout and I don't even notice the ring. Finally, she shoves her hand in my face and I am LMBO b/c my SIL did the same thing when she got engaged to my brother and I had no clue!
I am really very happy for them. OTOH-- I am not sure if I am ready for this next stage in my life, however. Eep. Is that normal? Yikes!

The ring is very very pretty. It has a platinum band with a small twist in it and the diamond is lab-grown (ethical!--Very important to them both) marquise-cut. Looks wonderful on her hand. Once I noticed it, that is. *winks*

Better get my day started, big hugs to you all!

@LSlycord ugh about the too-short haircut! Can you go back and see if they can fix it? It will grow back, one way that I know it will grow *really* fast. Dye it. You will have major roots in no time ;)
The poor hummingbird, I hope it smartens up and figures out to stay away from the pepper plants. I am grinning over Team Sam. It is really weird to look back 6-7 months ago. Everything was so different.
It is also really different today with college roommates- they can text each other and like you said, coordinate what they can bring. I never spoke to my freshman year roommate until she moved in.
Yup, that sounds about right,-- kids and dogs would be the topic of any conversation that Gary and I would have too

@BrightEyes That has to be a big help for the tax holiday on gasoline. Yay for being Team Sam too.
WTH about the ehd/cloud backup. grrr. I hope thatBest Buy takes it back without any problems. Hope you get to see lots of balloons today

@tanteva if I sleep past 7 my family would send in a rescue party. They would if *they* were awake, that is :D I was never, ever a good sleeper, not even as a baby.

@bcgal00 did you go to the Dr yesterday? PLEASE don't put that off if you didn't.
We are going to most likely break the last 2 Stranger Things episodes into 4 of them. Did you finish it? Caitlyn saw spoilers all over her social media, Thankfully, I didn't.

@Cherylndesigns That is good that you are finally feeling better. oooh, the arch will look so pretty with lights on it!
I love cannolis too- Sam took Scott to a bakery near where she used to live and brought me back some rugelach and a Boston cream donut. (more points in the Team Sam column) The donut didn't have the typical "pudding" type cream but more like a cannoli cream and OMG-- I texted Scott- Best. Donut. Ever. It turned out to be so filling it was my breakfast and lunch hahaha!!
Yikes about the bird in the house and then in the ferns
There is a nest in the Rhodo out front and everyone in a while the mama comes flying out at me and makes me jump too

xoxoxo

Wow! Good morning and happy 4th of July to those in the USA.

@faerywings oh my! What big news!!! Congratulations to Cait and Tom! How exciting!! Well, that is a lot of news. Do they have a date? It will definitely be a new phase for you. Lots of excitement...but a huge change and adjustment for you! Can you tell that I am now projecting...thinking of my own two kids. Anyway, you better unpack the graduation party box because you are going to have a lot of party planning ahead.

We went to see Top Gun: Maverick yesterday. I was afraid I would be disappointed. When the first movie came out, I went to the theater 3 or 4 Saturdays just to watch it. Well, I'm glad we actually left the house and got to see this while it was on the big screen. It was everything that I had hoped for and more. Seriously...it was the perfect extension of the story. So much emotion for me. I kept thinking about how young I was when I sat in the theater in Des Moines and watched that movie. I wasn't married, no kids...sure couldn't have imagined my life now.

Anyway, funny story. We haven't been to a movie theater since before the pandemic. I found it a bit challenging to figure it all out to be honest. We had a couple of gift certificates and used them so we went to the customer service window instead of one of the kiosks. We selected the seats...which were very close to the front. We reminisced about one of the last times that we had watched a movie sitting that close, The Color of Money with Tom Cruise and Paul Newman. Watching pool balls coming at you that were 6 feet tall...but I digress.

We finally figure out how to order our food and find our seats. Very comfortable seats. I had my cell phone in my pocket. All of a sudden, I felt like my back and hip were heating up. I took my phone out twice and it wasn’t hot. I thought I was losing my mind. Then I saw the little green light. I had pushed the seat warmer. In Florida. In July. And I realized I was truly old.

Up again before the sun was up.... <<< sigh >>> It makes for a very long day! And I didn't go to sleep until after 10:30 PM as people were setting off fireworks! I am sure it will be louder and lots more of them tonight!!! Not looking forward to that at all.
I talked to DD#3 yesterday and she is planning on coming over today. She said her foot is doing much better - now walking without cane and it is only a little bit sore if she is up on it a lot. Haven't seen her in over a month so will be great to spend a bit of time with her today. Which means this will be a short in and out here.

@faerywings Sending#kissand congratulations to Cait and Tom!!! Had to LOL over you not seeing her ring until stuck close to you!!! WOW... that is also something to celebrate along with her graduation. Maybe you can make it a 2-for-1 graduation-engagement party...

@LSlycord - DD#3 was telling me about how much she enjoyed seeing Top Gun - Maverick, too. They saw it last week and she really liked it. I loved the first Top Gun since my DH was stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station - where Top Gun school was located - and lived in San Diego off and on for 30+ years. The jets flew right over our house a lot. I know that Top Gun school was relocated when Miramar became a Marine base. DH also did TDY at a couple of the 'training areas' where the TG jets did their training so curious to see if I recognize any of those places in the movie. Oh, I am :D over your seat getting warm on you!!! Haven't been to a theater in over 2 1/2 years so not sure ours have that type of 'improvement' or not! hahaahaa

Need to close up the house and get my shower. CYL

Happy 4th of July to all my American friends!!!

It was another busy weekend for us here. Lots of trim painting and yard work. DH spent a lot of time trying to get the underground sprinklers working properly, but discovered that he needs a couple of new parts so those got ordered yesterday. Hopefully they will arrive by Wednesday. It is raining here today, so no need for sprinklers anyway LOL. Yesterday was very rainy too, but we decided to hop in the car and make a run to Costco to stock up on a few things. It will be our last run before we head out to Ottawa at the end of the month. The only thing left for me to do today is vacuuming and washing the floors, so that shouldn't take too long. Got all the coupons out to the June Challenge winners yesterday and can now concentrate on doing a page or two of scrapping. Thinking it might be time for a new siggie too. Loving all the new AVI's and siggies that I have been seeing!

@faerywings - Wow!!!! What exciting news!! Congrats to Cait and Tom!! How wonderful!! Too funny that you did not see the ring right away! Yes it will be a change in all of your lives for sure, but what a happy change!! Is there any idea as to when they will tie the knott?? I think that having a graduation/engagement party would be a great idea!! A lot of news for you to process, but you must be so very happy!! I am over the moon happy for all of you!!

@LSlycord - Glad you enjoyed the new Top Gun movie! My DH and I saw it in our local theatre too. We loved it!! Can't say that our little theatre here has any of those new fangled things at it, but the seats were comfy and there was lots of room so we could social distance from everyone else! I can't get over how good Tom Cruise looks for his age. I believe he is 60 now. What a great feature to have a seat warmer in your theatre, but not in July!! LOL.

@BrightEyes - Ughh on waking up again so darn early! I have been sleeping fairly well these past couple of nights, but its probably because the temps have dropped and its rainy. I can not sleep when its too hot in the house!! Hope you have a much better sleep tonight!! Although with all the fireworks going off tonight you might be late in getting to bed. How nice to have a visit from your daughter today! Sounds like she is doing very well with her foot!

Ok I need to read what has happened over the weekend here at the O and then hope to return with more personals! But you know me, I get distracted very easily so guarantees :) . I hope you all have a wonderful Monday! #kiss3

Happy 4th of July and Happy Canada Day (tomorrow, as I recall?) The rest of the family are all going out on the lake today but I'm passing - I don't need motion sickness - I'm just getting over food sickness. LOL Good news about food - Adrienne, Roger, Chuck and I went to the Cherokee Casino for dinner. They have THE best food there - Chuck had steak and loved it and I had coconut shrimp and a side of mashed potatoes and gravy (I know it sounds weird, but that's one of their specialties'. I had NO after effects from our dinner, and it was just the 4 of us for once so it was very pleasant. They have the best homemade yeast rolls and sweet butter!

Chris @faerywings congratulations to Cait and Tom!!! That's awesome and yes, you'll be ready for this next stage. You will be! I'd love to find some of those cannoli filled donuts - I've never had one and if it's better than the custard, oh my - I would probably be in cannoli Heaven!! Keep us posted on the "Team Sam" and the "Team Cait and Tom"!! Lots of coming excitement at your house.

Those darned birds are starting to take up roost on our front porch. I head them out there last night, singing. I guess as long as one doesn't get in the house again, I don't care.

Kay @BrightEyes have a lovely visit with your dd today and it's so wonderful to hear that she's doing so much better.

We're going to have a quiet fourth - we'll be watching fireworks on our TV - the best seats in the house. They're shooting off firecrackers around here - have been for 2 days and there were fireworks someplace close to us last night. The dogs (we have Lila) got worked up a couple of times, but we calmed them down.

Have a good holiday, if you celebrate!

XOXO

@BrightEyes I am so glad that your daughter is going to pay you a visit today! Glad that her foot is doing well and that you will get some time to catch up.

@taxed4ever sounds like your weekend was quite productive! I thought about a Costco run but it's not very convenient...AND on August 3 one opens about 20 minutes from our house. So I decided to wait. Looking forward to having one nearby again. Although I can't imagine what those bills will be now! I agree that Tom Cruise looks pretty good. He turned 60 yesterday. They were showing previews and I saw him in Mission Impossible and I said to Brian that I thought that he was looking old. Brian said that he thought he was looking good. Then the movie started...and he definitely is looking really good. :D

@Cherylndesigns glad that you were able to eat out and that it didn't upset your stomach. Actually, mashed potatoes and gravy sounds delicious. I may need to add those to the menu this week!

Good morning ladies. Headed out bright and early for errands and now am going to putter before watching the second half of a Netflix movie we started yesterday, The Man From Toronto. We are loving the silly comedy and great cast. Tonight we'll watch the last episode of Stranger Things.

@faerywings Yes I booked a hospital clinic visit for yesterday so will find out soon what is going on hopefully. That is soooo exciting about C getting engaged. They sound so perfectly matched for each other.

I have 3 dogs staring at me so I think we need some play time :)

They were SO good, Linda! Comfort food and I was very careful about everything. Hot rolls and sweet butter are additional comfort food. Give me bread and potatoes and I'm happy. Hahaha

@Cherylndesigns - Canada Day was on the 1st, always on the 1st. Sounds like you had a great meal at the Casino! Nice that it never bothered your stomach!
