Daily Ooos: Monday, July 25

I switched my AC from "Cold" to "Fan" when I got out of bed and I am thinking that I shouldn't have. It was 6 am- 78* with 88% humidity. No cool-ish breeze so far today but maybe this afternoon we will have some T-storms that are supposed to break the heatwave. We'll see.

Faery's Moment of Stupidity yesterday:
First thing in the day, I mentally scheduled Tom's birthday dinner. He requested my homemade french fries so they take time to prep. Scrubbed/peeled/cut/soaked them. Got the table set, put the fries in the oven. Stirred them around, put the chicken patties in for Gary, Scott, and me. Broccoli in the air fryer. Washed tomatoes and lettuce. Put the rest of the condiments and toppings- vegan and regular- on the table. Took a vegan bun out of the freezer and toasted that.
We all sit down.
Caitlyn is staring at me.
What??
I forgot to cook their Beyond Burgers.
Bwuahahahah!! Whoops!!! Usually, Cait will cook her own vegetarian "chick'n" or burgers so it wasn't even in my mind that I should have either done it or called her when it was time for her to do it. I told Tom welcome to their family, it is now official since I flaked on something like a birthday dinner LOL!
To add to the chaos, Cait put the pan on to preheat as I was grabbing one last thing from the fridge- and noticed that she never turned the stove on. What a team! #crazy

My mom had a rough few days, she had been staying inside because of the heat, and too much togetherness for her and my dad is draining. For me having to hear about it as well as them having to live it She is coming up to visit tomorrow so that might cheer her up.

Cait's big interview is today-- please send good vibes!! She is really nervous, this is like a dream job for her. It is a phone interview with a panel of interviewers. She knows one slightly. She interviewed him for a policy paper that she wrote last year. She is well-prepped and has her boss and his boss both giving recommendations. But she knows that she is young and might not have enough on-paper experience. I am anxious for her!

@LSlycord 5.30 is pretty much my wake-up time every darn day. Sometimes I can fall back asleep for a half out or hour but usually, my back says No way! Soooo sorry that you had a migraine. Enjoy the strawberry ice cream!

@BrightEyes Such a wonderful visit you must have had with DD#3, lots of time to catch up. LOL-ing about forgetting to eat!
What in the world are you doing to yourself crawling under the desk??? Your knee seemed like it was *finally* feeling better! It is going to be so nice for you to scrap again, especially after getting to see so many old kits.

@tanteva How is Marten? Good luck to him and to Urban getting him seen by the vet. It is scary when they don't eat. Please let us know how he is!

@bcgal00 How fun and a good score on the news clothes and shorwes. Love the pjs! It has to be so darn exciting to see the cruise is coming up soon.
Thanks for the support when I become an empty nester. I complain allll of the time about how I never have the house to myself. When I think of the kids being gone, it makes me sad. (Of course, with Gary being mostly housebound, I really am never fully alone)
Glad you like the frog stories, I have the entire fam talking to Tif and checking on her at night. haha

@Cherylndesigns is everyone back home on the compound?
That is exciting about the pool! When do they expect it to be ready for swimming? *packs my bag and gets ready to walk to OK*

@faerywings sending all of the good vibes to Cait! Hard to believe that she is truly moving out of the education realm and into the work world.

Didn't do much around here yesterday. It was a beautiful day in the morning but Sydney was working until 1:00 so I had planned to spend the afternoon swimming with her. Well, about 15 minutes before she got home, the skies opened up and it just dumped so no swimming yesterday. We did get a chance to watch a Netflix mini series...Unbelieveable...it was painful to watch. We still have 3 shows left for tonight. She works 1-7 so I told her to get home quickly so I won't be up all night finishing this series!

Morning, gals. Yesterday was terrible. Shortly after I posted here, I noticed that the new modem suddenly had a flashing green light instead of the steady blue light. Yes, my internet and phone service was down. Disconnected the power line to the modem and reconnected it... still had the flashing green light. Gave it 10 minutes and tried again. Still down. Had to use my cell phone to call the provider. Of course, they have a computer "helper" to answer. While doing the steps of disconnecting power again, the power line fell behind and under the desk... so once again, I was down on my knees under the desk. Of course, the arms are not long enough to push it back up to where it needed to go!! Had to drop a string from the top of the shelf then behind the desk and down to the floor and tie it onto the power line - then gently pull it back up to where the modem was. Got smart and taped the power line to top shelf and left the string tied to it. That didn't resolve the issue! Finally the 'computer' helper said she would get a live tech on the line. Well.... 30 minutes later.... after listening to the same boring music and recorded voice playing... got a real live person on the line. She checked and said that it appears that there is trouble with service in my neighborhood and no one had called in about it until I did. She asked me to stay on the phone while she tried to fix it. Back to the boring music... and then after another 10 minutes, the call disconnected! Didn't get service back up until around 4 PM! Then I had to go in and reset up the modem and link to the internet. I need to do that to all the computers but didn't feel like doing it then. I was feeling all the crawling around under the desk so watched a couple of DVDs and rested in the recliner all afternoon. When I got up to have supper, I was feeling slightly dizzy... took BP and it was down to 103/80... Couldn't finish eating dinner as I was feeling worse. Took my temp - 99* - which is a temperature for me as it is normally 97*. Crawled into bed early as I was feeling worse. Woke up feeling better this morning... temp is 97.2* and BP is 102/90 so guess I am over whatever it was. Going to take it easy today... not going to work on copying files, etc.

@faerywings I couldn't help but LOL over your forgetting to fix the burgers for Tom's birthday dinner... and Cait forgetting to turn on the oven after putting food in it!!! Some days are like that. Sounds like Tom is great and took it all in stride. Keeping good thoughts going for Cait as she has her job interview.

@Cherylndesigns the pool sounds like it is coming right along. Won't be long until you are all playing in it.

@LSlycord hope you enjoyed binge-watching the series. Have to tell a funny on me... while I was waiting for internet service to come back in the afternoon, I turned on the TV and was going to check out what might be streaming.... DUH.... with the internet down - there was no streaming available!!! #dk

@bcgal00 So excited for you that you will be making the Alaska cruise. Sounds like you found some wonderful clothes for the cruise.

@tanteva sure hope the cat is doing better. Can't believe there is a shortage of Vets there. Seems like your vacation was too short and now you are back to work again.

Morning O-zies!! Its going to be a very warm day today and for the whole week. I will be spending lots of time watering!! We got so much accomplished over the weekend and now feel that we are pretty much ready for our trip. Just the packing of the suitcase and carry on. I loaded a few movies onto the laptop for DH to watch on the plane and will get a couple for myself done today. Housework is all done and so today I will be free to just relax and enjoy the day. I have a feeling that a lot of jobs are going to get done at our Son's place while he has his Dad with him LOL. My Gary sure doesn't like to sit around and do nothing!! Tomorrow is my spa day and I will be there for 3 hours of pampering, hooray!! Facial, mani and pedi, it will be so nice! What a great gift from my DH!! Wednesday I am off to my last hike which is in Youbou where FIL and MIL live, we have some bottled wine to get to them so I will take that with me. It is supposed to be very warm, so I will bring my swimsuit and have a dip in the lake before heading home. Only 4 more sleeps!! Ha, Ha I think I might be getting excited to get going!

@faerywings - OMG I have had so many dinners like that!! Usually big get togethers for Thanksgiving or Christmas and we sit down to eat and I totally forgot to cook something!! Sheesh!! You are not alone!! Of course I am sending all good thoughts and vibes to Caitlyn for her to get this dream job!! I have a good feeling about it! Hope your Mom enjoys her time spent away from your Dad LOL I can totally relate!! No fun being cooped up when the weather is so hot and humid! I am hoping that the humid weather is gone for you soon!

@LSlycord - Sorry you did not get your swim time in yesterday! Did the rain help out with breaking the humidity or make it worse? Hope you and Sydney get to spend a nice evening together binge watching your last few episodes!

@BrightEyes - Oh my goodness Kay, step away from the electronics LOL. You certainly have had your share of problems lately! Hope your BP is good today and yup just stay away from the copying of the files today. Sending you hugs and hope that you will have everything all finished up soon! Just not today!!

@bcgal00 - Had to laugh over your shopping trip and that you spent so much on under ware!! I love going to La Vi En Rose, but my wallet doesn't LOL. Great score on all the comfy things!! Nice that you are so organized and have the birthday gifts all ready, what a fun birthday for your DD and your DH!! Aren't you glad you did not have to renew your passport before you go!! OMG what long waits for those! Enjoy your pool and hot tub day today!

@Cherylndesigns - How fun to have the pool installation progressing and glad that you found your bag of ribbons! It's the little things right? Guess its time for you to clean and tidy up LOL.

Good morning ladies. It's hot and sunny out, all week it will be close to 40. We took the dogs to the park yesterday and we decided to drive a minute further down the road and check the river, see if there is access for the dogs. Turns out there is a boat dock so has a nice sloped sandy area into the water. The dogs loved it. Now we know they can go swimming there too. I love that there are 3 dog beaches, each about 5 minutes away. What a wonderful city for the dogs.

To the left of that was a paved walkway along the water with a sign River's Trail. That is the trail I have heard about but couldn't figure out exactly where it was. Now I know. It's a good trail for birding so will be strolling down that way quite a bit when the weather cools off.

We are all up to date on our cruise pre-booking app. D was the last one to get confirmation yesterday. Now we get our covid test 2 days prior and just have to scan the result into the app the next day. They guarantee results the same day or next morning. This pharmacy does all the cruise tests out here. We are waiting to find out when we can book excursions through the ship. We have narrowed it down to 3 we are interested in if we can get on them. But there are a few others we could do if we don't get our first picks. D picked a helicopter ride that stops on two glaciers or second pick is a helicopter glacier ride and a float boat ride by the glaciers. I also want to go whale watching too. So hopefully we'll get the ones we want.

This morning we'll take D's truck in for body work, painting and rust sealing. He's excited, he's been wanting to do this for quite awhile but never got around to it. We got a good price too.

Want to do a bit of scrapping and reading aside from being out in the pool. Should be a relaxing day.

@faerywings That's too funny about the food lol. I have forgotten dishes before too, usually the side dishes. I have sometimes put veggies to nuke in the microwave and then found them the next day LOL. That's too bad that your parents bicker so much, glad your mom is coming to visit tomorrow.

@BrightEyes Oh boy, you sure have had your computer/internet problems lately. Hope this is the end of it all.

@LSlycord Had to go and check the netflix show, I'll watch it too.

Good afternoon. Taking a few minutes from my lunch hour to check in. It is hot and sunny…I sat outside for about 10 minutes to get some Vitamin D…it’s just so hot that I spend way too much time inside.

@BrightEyes what an absolute mess that was yesterday! I think the very worst thing is when you are on hold for a long time and then you get disconnected! Sorry that you were physically sick but glad you are feeling better this morning.

@taxed4ever I am so excited for your trip! I’m sure that Gary will be busy with lots of projects.

@bcgal00 what a great place for the dogs to swim from…it really is a great locale for the dogs! I hope you like the Netflix show. It’s been interesting watching the show with Sydney and her opinion of how the women are treated.

Good afternoon lovelies.

Still hot hot here. UGH. My poor plants - it's like we planted them in Zone 7 and now they feel like they're growing in Zone 10 (S. Florida). My Daylilies don't even look good. I never had luck with them in Florida. My Hydrangeas look very puny, too. We've been watering, but they're just scorching. Some of my herbs have even died. I just got a hydrator for them and I'm not sure I have enough to harvest. SO sad. My Zebra Grass is growing like crazy though and my ferns are lush.

On a brighter note, I'm feeling ALMOST back to normal, whatever normal is.

Chris @faerywings I can believe that you forgot to add something - and then Cait not turning the heat on. Sounds familiar. No everybody isn't back on the compound yet. Braden, Hayden and Roger just left yesterday. Adrienne's here at least. Hope your mom and dad make it through this heat. LOL Heat makes everybody extra cranky, though. The pool is about 2 weeks away from being done, so they say. Come on out - I'm sure it will get a workout. Those workers have labored through this entire heatwave - I don't know how! They're up there today.

Trudy @taxed4ever yes, it is the little things. I'm easily entertained. I had been looking for that bag for a week and eureka! yesterday, there it was - not where it was supposed to be, but I found it. They're saying the pool is about 2 weeks away from having water in it. They bring a huge water truck in and back it up and fill the pool in just a short amount of time. It's magical! I used to work for a pool company (in a former life) and we'd have people who "chintzed" out at the end and wanted to fill their own pools with their hose. Took FOREVER - they spent all that money on a pool, then wouldn't pay for the water truck.

Kay @BrightEyes we're all counting down until that pool is full of water. Ava and I were going to get cheapo pools for our yards because we didn't think they were putting the pool in until next year. The newest "thing" is using those horse troughs to make pools, ( I think they're calling them tank pools.) They're stainless steel and you drill a hole in the side for the pump. There are some amazing pictures on Pinterest. People are even using big plastic pools, putting filters in them, sinking them in the ground and making them really fancy. It's really crazy what people are making pools out of.

Anyway, we sat and had all these plans then found out the big pool was going in THIS summer.

Mårten is ok. He's been to the vet. Library had to close early today because of Mårten. LOL It was meant, me & Urban was going to close, but since noone could step in for Urban (and we're not allowed to work alone), we closed early. That's how powerful Mårten is. LOL

Anyway, vet thought he was remarkably well for a cat who eaten so little for such a long period of time. He only got fluid (really dehydrated) and pain meds. Now he has to start eating and peeing this evening/night or he has to go back again tomorrow for tests and/or x-ray.

Problem is, I have no idea how he's going to be able to eat: he's high as a kite from the pain meds. Sitting there like a stoned buddha staring on the food.

@tanteva - Glad to hear that Marten is doing ok! Too funny that he is stoned out of his mind!! #crazy Hope he eats and drinks lots and gets his kidneys working well again!
