My calendar for this upcoming week is pretty quiet-looking on the surface, but hoo boy, I feel a bit stressed this morning. Caitlyn needs to make a Drs appt with an immunologist ASAP which means my schedule could be this:juggle: by 9 am. You might remember that Caitlyn has been getting hives on and off for several years, possibly from a disorder called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. It is a somewhat common "side effect" from Lyme Disease where the immune system goes haywire. Lyme causes lots of autoimmune issues which is why I test positive for Rheumatoid Arthritis although I don't "technically" have it. When Cait was first tested for Lyme, she also came up positive for Sjogren's Disease which is an autoimmune disorder involving connective tissue. So long story short, she has been tested for allergies with no specific response. The allergist she had seen said that is was an immune reaction not an allergic one and she treats the hives with Zyrtec.
Fast forward to Saturday night when she ate a handful of peanuts and had a full-blown "allergic" reaction. Her entire body swelled up, thankfully not her throat. Whew. But she eats peanuts and peanut butter and has never had an issue before but this was almost immediately after eating roasted peanuts. She has had a referral for months to see an immunologist but it was never convenient and nothing had truly changed and the Zyrtec worked. But this is very concerning. The Dr's office opens at 9 so she is set her alarm so she can call and hopefully get an appt before I have to leave for PT at 10. That way I will know what shuffling around the rest of my week will be. Not to mention, I am worried about her. She took pics of her swollen legs and it looked bad. I am mad at her for not waking me up too.
Anyway-- I am thinking that it never gets easier as a parent, there is *always * something to worry about with your kids, no matter their age.
Yesterday was nice-- my parents were fun to be around (they didn't bicker!) and my mom seemed to be in a bit less pain. She says it comes and goes. We agreed that I should drive her car around town to get used to it so I can drive it down the shore in Sept.
I spent some time out pulling weeds and my brother sent up some money for pizzas so I didn't have to cook.
It looks like it will be a bit cooler today and some T-storms will be coming through and that will cool things off.
Hoping that you all have a fantastic day!
