Good morning and happy Monday to all of you! We are having a run of truly wonderful weather! Of course, I am meeting up on Thursday with my BFF to go swimming and the weather looks like rain then, but who knows? Things might change. At any rate, it is bright blue skies and lower humidity right now. In fact, I have a long sleeve t-shirt on and my toes are chilly.

My ILs came up in the afternoon and FIL helped Gary fix the generator. We have only had to use it once or twice and I hope to keep it that way. But it doesn't do us any good if we need it and it isn't working. Instead of Gary doing the cooking, I did that while he was outside. I was really happy that he made the sauce on Friday since that is the hard part.

I had a horror movie moment when I went to open the bottle of wine. I have a battery operated corkscrew. It looks like a wand that you place over the cork, press a button and it screws into the cork and retracts to pull it out. I put the wand over the wine bottle and saw some baby ants on it. Put down the corkscrew, grabbed a paper towel and wiped up the ants. Picked the corkscrew back up and there were *tons* of tiny ants crawling out of it. Pouring out and all over me, all over the counter. (I am itching all over again!) I am yelling and stomping on them, slapping at my arms and legs. I ask Scott to take the darn thing outside and even a couple of hours later, there were still more of them crawling out of it.

Looking back, it must have been really comical but at that moment, I was not amused. I was watching two pots of pasta and two saucepans with vodka sauce warming. I just fed the dogs, set the table, and was simply trying to open a bottle of wine... and to be *covered* in an army of tiny ants...Ahhhhh! :scared: LOL

Today, I am off to PT in the morning and then maybe more yard work in the afternoon. The morning glories by the side of the driveway need some work. Plus I need to get dinner ideas for the week before I have to go shopping tomorrow.

Have a wonderful day!

Kay- I am glad that you are seeing a shift in mood even if it is slow. I hope that each day gets a bit easier for you. Yikes!! I bet your family was in a panic when they couldn't reach you. Nice to know that they checked in on you. Happy birthday to your D-GD!
Stay cool!

Jean- it sounds like the library lady had good info to share. Will she come back again? How cool to wander the art festival and get inspired especially with the Mixed media artist.
I spoke to my mom again yesterday and gently lectured her about calling the Dr first thing this morning. She gets overwhelmed easily so I am trying to guide her by using a to-do list and taking things one step at a time. (yeah, I know it-- I don't always take my own advice  ).

Felis- awesome news about the weather being cooler and the fur-babies being more playful. I am looking forward to seeing your page for the letter art!
That is interesting that you are required to learn so many other languages- English and another. My state requires 2 years of a foreign language in order to graduate high school but that is it. Scott took two years of Spanish, Cait took 3 years of Italian but neither can speak or understand it at all.
I am having such a hard time reading the book. I am distracting myself -- a little voice in my head asks me nonstop- Ask Felis if this is true! hahaha! :) So far, the story is just about the American woman searching for a family with the help of a taxi driver, but it is going to get into politics soon, I think. His back story is that he has been arrested for protesting. Like Jean said, Americans don't know that much about Bulgaria and its very long history, generally speaking. I hope that you don't mind if I ask you more about your country as I continue to read about it.
I am smiling at the description of your cats using the pool as a big cup!

better get going, I have to leave here in an hour or so xoxo!

good morning - I had a great weekend doing nothing. This will be my last post as I head off to the wild blue yonder. I am busy getting the last errands completed. My son and his partner in their catering business was involved in a BBQ for charity this weekend. My DH spent Sat with prep and Sunday was the BBQ. They had lots of people but we did get some left overs so that was awesome!

No personals. All have a great summer and I will be back soon!

Have a great day!

Today was another beauty. We did the usual Monday things though. Nothing exciting.

Nancy, waving as you go off on another adventure! :plane:
Looking forward to the pages you'll create afterward.

Chris, hope PT went well and that your mom is following through on it for herself. I totally sympathize with the little ant invasion meltdown. That was just rude! What did they mean by invading the corkscrew? It might have looked funny to an observer, but not the one in the middle of it. Did you figure out how they got there?

Felis, I'm also looking for your letter art LO. So glad you can do that. And when I get something more done on the current drawing I'll post it and let you know. So far I've gotten distracted.

Wishing you all a good week.

Hi girls!
I had terrible Monday! I'm that kind of person that distend one situation till make it big crash. The fact that this topic is visible for non-members don't allows me to be opened about what happens. But actually it's no need, why to put dark thoughts in your day. It's no sense for anybody.

Chris, Not just I don't mind to ask questions about the book, but even I'm grateful, I need something to distract me from the day life! Something to talk about. I had to check the annotation of the book to see in what period narration is, because I'm not sure what you mean with "arrested for protesting", at present day every month someone protest for something  . What the author mind is happens during the Communism.
Hmm, how to describe it in shorten... We are country with ancient history, the conquerors and builders which in some moment collapse and become slave of empire with different religion. After 5 century slavery finally we win our liberation, but only to can few years late to be scattered on parts again. First World War exhausted and discouraged us. So when Second World War began our king try as long as it's possible to stay neutral. From present is very easy to see Hitler as a monster. But back then he is been kind of magnetic, just see how he is convinced not just germans, but italians to follow him. During the slavery the whole king family is wiped out, so our king is ours, but with italian and german roots, we just choose him after the liberation. And yes we come at the WWII on a german side. At the whole time here have people who refuse to become a military and blame our king that put us on a wrong side. And then we learn what actually happens into the nazy concentration camps and we change our ally.
I hope I didn't lost you at the explanation. So here we are the Communists takes down the monarchy, they blame royalty and the intelligentsia (writers, musician and ect.) for our shame and misery and what they do, they do absolutely the same: everybody who is disagree with them go to prison. They are being robbed and forced to a hard work at the prisons, or worse. Without trial and conviction. Many people are been forced (and many do it for privilege) to spy their neighbors or friends. Everything is dressed up at slogans for equality of all people, prosperity and fairness for small, regular person. People finally are fed, lived in peace and have own property and feeling for success. The Communists are pretend that all are equal, and hide what privileges the politicians have and what they do with people who do not obey. History needs much longer time period before to can give evaluation of what happens then. The generation of my grandparents swears that then life was much better (for the regular people). The bigger part of the generation of my parents blame this political regime as criminal. My generation ... hmm, most of us just don't care, what we learned is that there is no 'good main character' and 'the bad'. In this 'story' just in few years ones takes the place of the others, but the results stay the same.
I hope I described it understandable!

Haha, so Chris, I bet you didn't expect so long answer. But I just can't describe it easily. Now back to present. I read your post with a discretion smile and big sympathy, but LOL, oh I just can't stay serious after Jean's answer! She is wrote it so clever and funny! Hope you was able to do some yard work! And the generator is very important indeed. Better to be covered without need, instead to nerves your nervous when it's been to late!

Jean, to doing the usual things, in my opinion is the best spend day! I was wondering, did for you have meaning what is written on paper pieces that you use at your mixed media project? I saw you use them at "From Any Point" and few others. So I was wondering did they are specifically thematically chosen or how?!

Nancy, have fun, dear! And come back with bunch of interesting stories! I'm sure that you'll bring us awesome photos!
