First day of the first week of the new year.
Who else is ready to take on 2023?

kitten-boxing.gif

This gif is a much better visualization for me than say, Rocky Balboa, running up the steps in Philly :D
To be honest, this is closer to me that the first:
kitten-cute.gif

I am not very intimidating, nor very coordinated. If I tried the moves in Gif #1, I'd tip over.

I was hoping that I would feel like I got something, anything accomplished yesterday but alas...
So today is it. Starting now.

My "Big Plan" for today is cleaning out the fridge, there are leftovers from Christmas still shoved in the back. I would like to take everything out of the one cabinet (pots/pans/containers) and re-organize it. But that is more than I think I am up for today.
I also need to check in on my brother- he called to say Happy NY and told me he tested positive on Saturday. He sounded awful. He talked to his Dr and started Paxlovid yesterday- he had to be off of his statins for 24 hours, I'd never heard of that before but that is what he needed to do. He hadn't been by my parents since Christmas so he thinks they are out of that window.

That's about it. Wishing all of you a happy and productive day!
Hugs!!

@LSlycord I can't complain too much about the temps here, we have been in the upper 40s but wow, I would love to be running around in a t-shirt/shorts again. Did you put the AC on?
That stinks about the beef wellington. I did that once, MIL offered to buy the meat and I had no clue how much it was going to be. And that was a long time ago- Scott was a baby. I like the idea of snacks better than meat anyway;)
Caitlyn and Tom made vegan steaks for dinner last night- I was LMBO since Caitlyn doesn't like the taste or texture of meat as it is, no matter if it is animal or plant-based. She was poking at it, just the same as if it were beef. She took a few bites and gave the rest of it to Tom. LOL
Ugh, so sorry to hear that your family isn't coming out to visit. They would have been a good distraction for you, as well as fun to hang with.

@BrightEyes your experience at midnight sounds similar to mine- also the first time I was awake at midnight in years and years too
I will be working on the challenges today too, I started one for the color palette yesterday, it is almost done but I am not sure I am happy with it.
Wow, I love wild animals but I don't think I would be happy to see a bobcat trying to get into my house! I *know* I wouldn't like to see that!

@bcgal00 That would be amazing for Jen to take classes to become a lab tech. All good thoughts coming her way.
I know that you are going to get amazing photos of wildlife no matter where you are.
WTH? there was no reason for the guy to get rude to you about "trespassing." Scott has to deal with people having dogs off leash as well as hunters and he has come up with some cute and friendly ways to approach them. He figures it gets the same results but everyone has a better experience if he is nice about it. Although he doesn't get it when he has to approach people with dogs off-leash and asks if they are friendly and they say No. Then, maybe not have them off-leash for that reason as well as it being illegal on County/State lands?? Perhaps?? ;) (he got bit/nipped last week too!)
If you lived here, I know Scott would take you to see the beavers - and talk your ear off about them *wink*

@Cherylndesigns OMG!! look at you!!!!!! What a great costume and yes, an elegant bada**!!
I can't wait to see the rest of them!

It is foggy and 58* here. We are heading to Savannah this morning but we have a heavy fog and so I want to wait awhile until it burns off. Shaun has decided that he isn't going with us. He, and I quote, "only has 2 more free days". LOL I told him that people use their free days to do fun things but he thinks that the purpose of life is to have free days where you don't do anything. Since he works Friday, Saturday and Sunday and goes to school the rest of the time, he won't have any "free" days until March.

Continued working on my photos and genealogy and storage closet in general. And just remembered that I didn't check to see if the camera is charged. I'll be back after I do that and get another cup of coffee.

Battery is charged...but decided I needed to clean off my SD card so I'm uploading photos photos to SmugMug. (From our trip to Europe. I do almost need the eye roll emoji as much as I need the ROFL emoji.

@faerywings it feels good to me to be starting a New Year. No AC for me yesterday. I am disappointed that Ash and Cam aren't coming to visit this week. But she said that when work calms down a bit, she will plan again. And maybe the timing will be warmer and the pool will be warm enough to be enjoyable!

Got a couple of layouts done yesterday. One was for my heritage pages and one was for the white space challenge. I am really committed to keeping up to date. Ugh...I'm so bad about that. I like to bundle it all together and catch up at the end of the month...well, I don't like to do it that way. It just happens. But I'm doubling down on my efforts.

@Cherylndesigns what an incredible photo! You look like you belong in NYC. How fun that you went with the tuxedo instead of a dress. I'm sure that you really did stand out. And sounds like your table was the place to be! Did you tell the owner that he needs to start planning for the 2024 party because this will be hard to top!

@BrightEyes it's probably a good thing that you won't have the car until February. That way there will be less of winter remaining and you will be able to "zip around in the new red car" sooner. Oh, your mac and cheese sounds good with a brat added. Sydney made ours for Christmas dinner and she decided to use a mix of 2/3 cheddar and 1/3 pepper jack cheese and that was really yummy. The addition of a brat would make that absolutely luscious!

@bcgal00 I cannot believe that the guy was rude to you, especially after you explained what had happened. Honestly, people are just not nice and it makes me sad. But those photos...especially the ones of the eagles. They are stunning!

@vickyday hope that you had a good first day of the new year!

Have a good day all. I'm going to go get cleaned up for our outing to Savannah!

Morning, all. Woke up to 42*F but it has fallen to 36*F in less than an hour so guess the cold front is arriving soon. No rain or snow YET. Will have to wait and see what the day brings.

Heard a bit more about the bobcat at DD#2's... the garage door was open and the bobcat started to come into it. But their big German Shepard sent the bobcat running away. Scary thought that it would try to come inside the garage or house. I am also working on challenges... Have a couple of ideas mulling around in the head for a few of them. Waiting to find the 'perfect' kit for one of them. ;) So glad that I am able to do more scrapping although I still have to pace the time spend at the computer.

I guess I may be ultra cautious but I don't clean off my SD cards. I just buy new ones when the old one gets full. I do load the photos onto the computer and ExHd. I save the SD cards just in case something happens with my computer. Several years ago, I tried storing some of the photos and some LOs in the cloud and they got all messed up and mixed together. I know things have improved alot since then... but guess I am old-fashion enough to want to have the photos especially saved on the card.
Yes, the addition of the brat really does spice up the Mac and Cheese.

@Cherylndesigns You look like a real bada*** in the Tux! Looking forward to seeing more photos from the party.

Try to get back for more personals later. HAGD

Day 2 of Veganuary - and I'm sooo hungry. I know. All in my head. I mean, really no big difference from what I'm used to eating, but this happens every time I try some new diet. I get obsessed with the things I can't eat, and have "no idea" what to eat. But one problem: I forgot to get some non-dairy butter when shopping - I can't have any sandwiches. Drives me nuts ... since I normally eat about 3 or 4 sandwiches per week. LOL You see - I can't think straight. But to be honest, most of my go-to breakfasts and lunches have dairy or egg. I need to get to the store and stock up. But Urban work late today, and I work late tomorrow, but maybe we can stop at the super market on our way home from work tomorrow. Only thing I've really, really missed so far is honey in my tea. Really doesn't taste the same with sugar.

This week, I'm only working one day (since Friday is a "Sunday" here in Sweden), but new deal is, I'm working 2 days a week again. Until the end of March I think. Great - more money for food.

Urban is at work, and he keeps messaging me, planning a trip to Stockholm in May. Just all of a sudden. Apparently he wants to go to a concert (Stravinskij's Rite of Spring), and he's "bribing" me with a thing I want to do in Stockholm. My "geek crush", i.e. an historian that I'm following on YouTube, are giving guided tours in the older parts of Stockholm, and it looks like he has a tour at the same time as the concert. Looks like I'm going to Stockholm in May.

Only worry: last time Urban planned for a concert trip was in May 2020 ... and we all know what happened that year. Wonder what pandemic he sets in motion now. LOL

Ear's still troubling me, but the dr said it would be 3-4 weeks before it would be ok.

We have heavy fog here again today, too! Not quite 50 degrees yet. Be careful on your drive and have a good time!
Mark has used his "free" days to the max! He is already back down in the woods this morning!

Yup, thanks! After church I knitted all day and listened to a new author, Sarah E. Ladd. So far the books I have listened to are set in England and in the 1800's. Listened to The Headmistress of Rosemere and am currently listening to The Letter From Briarton Park.

Good Morning!
Well, today I've been a mom for 43 years! Best thing and greatest blessing that has ever happened to me!

Yesterday Mark and I had a hankering for Burger King, so we stopped on the way home from church. Then I spent all afternoon knitting while listening to an audiobook. Not sure what happened, but the second baby sock I worked on ended up quite a bit different than the first! But to tell you the truth, I think the second one is closer to the correct size for a newborn than the first one I did, LOL! I have no idea what happened, or where the problem was, but I could tell the second one was going to be way different than the first!
IMG_20230101_133140172_HDR-web.jpg

Back to the drawing board to try and create a matching pair, LOL! I also finished the baby blanket.

Mark is back down in the woods this morning. I had a fitful night of sleeplessness again on Saturday night, so I went to bed before midnight last night and am up a bit earlier than usual. But slept pretty good last night, however I did wake up with a slight headache this morning.....the same one I went to bed with.....so I must still be tired.

Mark and I worked on the creche on Saturday. Not quite finished with the set up as the base board is in the process of being flattened. But we like how it is looking so far! Stay tuned!

Today begins the working countdown to prepare for my kids coming in 2 weeks for our Christmas gathering. First thing I want to do is take some of my craft stuff back out to my she shed. I also have some pictures to rehang as the 3M velcro stuff has outlived its usefulness!

I repacked some of the Christmas decorations this weekend but left out some of my favorite snowman decor.

Shuffling and straightening it is! Have a good day!

I hope the ear is, at least, not as painful as it was, Eva!
Good luck with your diet!

This is why I have 2 sets of dpns, so I can knit them side by side. This way I can do each step on both socks at the same time. I always get them looking differently otherwise.

Good morning ladies. A quick hello from me as I need to shower and get dressed so Jen and I can take the dogs out for the day. We are going to drive out to Salmon Arm, a pretty little community about an hour and a bit from here. We'll find a few spots to let the dogs out and then Jen and I will grab coffee, let the dogs come on a leash and we'll walk out to the boardwalk which I've never gone out to. It won't be anything exciting but we'll get some fresh air, the dogs will get new scents to discover and maybe we'll see the swans. I'm not bringing my wildlife lens tho, this is the day for the dogs so don't need the big gear.

I'll be back later this afternoon. HAGD everyone.

Good afternoon all. I'm SO ready for the new year! Ava watches this video and listens to the song before she has a fight. LOL How iconic is this scene???

I'm so glad that you all like my bad*** picture. LOL I got SO many compliments on my outfit. It was certainly unexpected. I'd wanted to wear a tuxedo all my adult life and finally did. Never too late. Linda @LSlycord that's a great idea to tell the owner to get crackin' on next NYE! There are lots of pictures from the party starting to get posted on FB. Ava and Adrienne are posting lots of them. They're tagging me, but I have to go in and approve all tags, which I haven't done yet, so if you get a chance, check my FB page.

I'll try to come back for personals. XOXO
