Double digits in January. I hope that this month goes fast, next month too.
My ILs got us a Mickey Mouse Alexa clock/time for the kitchen last year for Xmas (very cute but also impractical). The batteries died the other day so I replaced them. B/c it's a whatddayawannacallit... a smart clock, AI decoration-- whatever-- it reset itself automatically. It has hands (Mickey's arms) not numbers so they spun around really fast to catch up to the correct time. I joked that I wish time would go that quickly for real and Gary asked-- it doesn't? o_O
Some days it feels like it and others, not so much.

It was quiet here yesterday and I don't think I got much done, but I did some dusting, cleaned the kitchen, and that sort of stuff. I also finished the page for Karen's tips challenge and I think it is a technique I am going to use a lot.

Same old same old here today. I am working on the food shopping list this morning. Which means I am going to be cursing at the computer- all of the recipe sites and then the supermarket site. Gary offered to cook one night this week but didn't have any idea what he should cook. If *I* give him a recipe, he is more than happy to cook. Well dammit, that's the problem! I don't have any ideas either! haha

Have a fabulous day!! xoxo

@LSlycord Good for you getting in steps and staying on the diet! even if it is silly :D
I think the ed. hike is a better interview process for someone in his field too. He gets really excited when he sees plants and critters (I raised him right LOL) and he is passionate about ecology/sustainability/conservation.
I would love to be able to go on a dolphin walk! That sounds amazing

@BrightEyes Thanks for checking in, we all have been thinking of you too. How sweet of your G-DD to call you, I am sure that was a bright spot of your day.

@bcgal00 I am happy for you-- that going to the dog park didn't aggravate your back too much. Mentally, it had to be so helpful to do that and to see the dogs play together. Will Remi want to go out in the cold rain too?
What channels are Rosell and Station 11 on? I tried to see if we could watch Yellowstone since I know several of you watch that but it looks like it isn't anywhere other than Paramount+?
I don't have a 12x12 printer but I think I could make a collage as an 8x10, no problem. That is a great idea and thanks!!

@Kythe a golden ball in the sky? What is that? LOL I shouldn't complain, we had sunshine where last week, it only feels that it has been forever since we saw it.
When I first tried the D&B challenge on a photo, I *think* I had to unlock the layer before I could add the new layer as a clipping mask.
Did you enjoy your PJ day? I don't even want to think about putting jeans on ATM. The *only* good thing that came out of Scott's breakup insanity was that no one could eat, I went for a few days only eating a granola bar here and there. That might offset the weight I am putting on from all of the cookies that are still leftover. *G*
Don't you wish there was a way to take pictures with your eyes? Sunrise/sunsets never come out as pretty as they are in real life- like you said, rooftops and electric wires always run through and ruin them

@tanteva you are on fire with your organizing, I am really impressed!!!
That is a smart idea to sell the kitchen utensils - make good use of the decluttering job and make some money. Just don't buy more yarn with it ;)

@Cherylndesigns we would be *dangerous* to be in the same room, add in Caitlyn and Ava- look out world! Although we would probably end up attaining world peace and reducing hunger at the same time. ;)
I am a terrible *terrible* typist. I use a combo of maybe 4 fingers. I tried to type properly but I never got the hang of it. But that works well with my stream of consciousness anyway. If you ever wondered how I speak in "real life" read anything here and that will give a solid idea. Just read my words with a Jersey accent (cawfee, dawg etc), throw in some crazy hand waving, and that be me. *giggles*
Oh no, poor Alyssa, how is she feeling? And Adrienne, so far so good?
I saw that this morning about possible 4th boosters... I mean I will do it if that is what we need to do, but blergh!! if they could just add it to the flu vax, I might make it easier. I am due for my second shingles vax and I don't want to have to deal with that either. The first one made me feel awful.
Does heat help the muscle feel any better? Massage? Icy Hot or anything similar? It has been a long time :(

@LSlycord I feel the same, if it is a good thing we are all flung to different corners of the world, Dangerous would be an understatement if we lived close :D

@tjscraps Whoa! I thought NJ was late in getting out of school. We usually go close to the end of June- usually the 24th-25th. I was in school once on my b-day which is the 26th. I can see why it doesn't make sense to push the year any farther back
Reading>toy cleanup :D

That photo is *disturbing*

Not for the content but for the COLD!!!!! hahaha!!!!!!
You are making me shiver just looking at it!

@mom2triplets04 The soup looks delish, and yesterday was a good day for soup. You are making me really want to get an instapot from the recipes you are sharing.
Good luck with the school going remote, although it seems like you kinda knew it was coming?
I hope Myla passes the chicken bone easily. We make boiled chicken and white rice for our dogs when they have upset stomachs which feels like it happens all of the time. But if she hasn't passed it by now, I guess a call to the vet is a good idea. I hope that she is all better soon.

Hugs and love to you all!!

Hahahha - it was very relaxing actually - we convinced the little that it was too cold outside for her to come in with us! Our school doesn't usually start until after Labour day, so that's why the late end.

I'm a bag of nerves today - hubby has a procedure (gastroscopy) to see if they can find out what's going on with him, and to check things out - the infection he has is 8x more likely to cause the big C word, so I'm hoping they don't find anything!

Good morning all. I'm a bit of a slow starter today. It is absolutely beautiful this morning but supposed to rain this afternoon and temps are supposed to only reach 70* How quickly I seem to have forgotten what it is like to face a real winter. Hats' off to all of you ladies doing that for real!

I started applying for jobs last Monday and I already have two interviews lined up for this week. I wasn't planning to return quite this early but I guess it's a good thing that I'm getting attention. I think that I have a good shot at the one on Thursday but we will see. In the meantime, I am appreciating what could be the last of the time off.

And, after my friend's fiasco with flights last week, we have already had our first change to our booked flights to Europe. I'm sure that there will be many more before all is said and done!:rolleyes: Must learn patience and flexibility.

Started our day walking with Shaun. The kid kind of cracks me up the way he shows up every morning on the lanai at 7:30 to walk. Even when he doesn't have any reason to be up for a couple of additional hours. Trying to get some scrapping done for the challenges! Hopefully I can get at least a couple of layouts complete!

Oh, how do you end this laziness?! I think I'm beginning to be sick of being home ... I don't work much, but it sure is nice to get a change of scenery once a week! Next Thursday, I'm back at work. Today, we woke up to chillz - the heater had stopped during night. I meant to get up at 7.30 with Urban & have breakfast, but I told him - "I'm staying in bed until my medicine alarm goes off, and you go restart the heater, and it will be warm when I get up." But ... when I got up at 9, it was still only 17 degrees in the house (that's 34 degrees F). I thought the heater had stopped once again, but no ... it was "firing away". Meant to do laundry & some decluttering today, but no ... I've been doing CT chores, scrapping, and watching telly.

Urban's got an e-mail today, that his book has been approved by the print-on-demand company. No idea why they did flag it at first. They say they have a list of words that they scan for, and if some of them is in the manuscript, they have to approve it first. I guess it's a loooong list, cuz people get triggered for everything these days! Anyway, it's supposed to be able to order now. How cool is that?! I'm so proud of him. I've tried to write books as well, but I never have the stamina to finish them. This is his 4th book.

@faerywings Make a list of favorite dinners, special comfort food, easy-to-make meals, best-go-to-recipes and so on. Ask everyone in the family to add their favorites as well. Make a real proper list, write it or print it & keep in a safe place. Then you have a place to look when you need inspiration. If you find a recipe you want to try, cut it out (or print it out) and save it. Maybe a special meal planning folder will evolve? I have a couple of Pinterest boards where I save recipes as well. Try and make a new recipe every week. It might turn out to more recipes to add to the favorite list? And - when in doubt: just add cheese! (I'm still a bit shocked over the fact that there are people who don't like cheese!!!!!)

@tjscraps I'm crossing fingers, toes, and every other body part for your husband! <3

@LSlycord I don't remember - when was your trip to Europe? I hope it's way in the future, for ... right now ... I wouldn't go here, if I wasn't here already. Corona is spreading like crazy right now!

Morning, gals. I slept in this morning until after 8AM!!! And I fell asleep with glasses on and book in hand sometime around 9:30 PM - and woke up after 11 long enough to put book and glasses on the night stand and turn out the light. Guess the weekend took a lot out of me so my bod put me to sleep for a long rest.
I am feeling okay and in fairly good spirits this morning. Waiting for the house to heat up so I can grab a shower.

Good news is that I decided to start the book inventory on the laptop yesterday afternoon. Got about half of the handwritten list put in. Will work on the other half later on this week. Not sure when I start on the books in the hall and MB. And I won't think about the ones out on the garage shelves!!! Yeah, I have a lot of books!

Not sure if I will make it in here tomorrow morning as I have a brown bag lunch with my gals. So glad we are all fully vaccinated and had the booster. Need to make a few stops afterwards to pick up a few things. Looking forward to getting out of the house and hoping the stores won't be crowded since it is not the weekend.

Just checked on my challenge and got caught up on comments for it. Thanks to all for doing the commenting on LOs over the weekend.

Good morning ladies. The wkend flew by, partly b/c I spent so much time at the dog park which I was so happy to do with Jen, for 3 days in a row. It made a difference in the evening, the dogs settled down and had quiet time after dinner, no high excitement wrestling and barking, just playing quietly, chasing balls, chewing on a bone, etc. It sure makes a difference when they are getting the physical exercise for an hour or two in the afternoon. There is no snow left on the trees now, just a few inches on the ground that is slushy in some parts and icy in others. The walk thru the park yesterday was dicey, everyone had to walk slowly and keep an eye on all dogs around b/c at any time, one could come barreling into you as they chased each other and with the icy paths, could knock you off your feet. I was ok, as was Jen, but a few others went down. Remi is really going to miss the snow. It's starting to look like moving to Kamloops might happen so maybe next winter we'll be there with a lot more snow. We will miss the dog park with 4 km of trails but not much else around here will be missed.

D is out for breakfast with a buddy this morning. He sure is loving his retirement. If we get the go ahead with plans to move, I'll quit my job so we can focus on purging, packing, cleaning, etc and then start driving up to Kamloops to check homes for sale.

Today is the usual desk work and then we'll take the dogs to the pet store this afternoon. I need to get some paw moisturizing wax for Remi, her big pads are really rough from running over the snow/ice. I'm going to get a small electric toothbrush for the dogs teeth. It's hard to brush Taz's teeth b/c his mouth is small so I think an electric brush will work better. I have no idea what Remi will think of an electric brush. It should be interesting LOL.

@faerywings We have Roswell and Station Eleven on our cable on demand, Roswell was on the CW network and the other was on the sci-fi channel. As for the weather and Remi, she is happy with everything. It seems that she loves snow the best but is happy with rain, mud, sunshine...all of it :)

@tjscraps Good luck to your hubby. Hope he gets this figured out.

@LSlycord Good luck with the interviews.

@tanteva That is good news for Urban's book. Hope the house warms up.

I'm getting another coffee and going to post a LO before starting work. Have a good day everyone.

@tanteva we don't leave for Europe until April 30 so I am hoping that the surge stops by then. But who knows? We won't go if it is like it is right now but I'm hoping it will be better by then. Sounds extremely cold...I would have stayed in bed for a very long time. And congrats on Urban's book. I'm sure he is excited.

@BrightEyes glad that you can do the brown bag lunch with friends. The vaccines and the boosters are something I am thankful for every single day.

@bcgal00 so much change ahead of you. Very exciting times. And I laughed at your description of the dogs while walking on the trail. I constantly tell our two that they need to be careful on the stairs because if they knock me down, I might not get back up. (I also hold on to the handrail in case they don't listen. ;)

LOL - I can tell Urban thinks I'm silly right now. I'm sitting here a bit starstruck. I commented on a video today on Youtube. It's a famous historian (can you be famous if you are an historian???), that's posting a video every day about a glimpse from 18th century Sweden. And now he's liked my comment, and answered to it. I'm totally starstruck! When U laughed at me ... I threatened him with the fact that the historian is single again. LOL

Here's a link to Urban's book - I hope you can see it though it's a Swedish site. I designed the front cover.

Morning ladies... I am late arriving here this morning! I have been on a very long face time with Heather and the boys! They had a great weekend and Mason was telling me all about watching Sing2 on Prime Video. I surprised him by renting it for them, he has been wanting to see it for a while and they could not find anywhere that was streaming it. I was a popular granny LOL!! Anyway lots happening today, MIL and FIL are coming at some point today to pick up some wine that we bottled for them and I am still busy making the last T-shirt for Hunter. I really, really want to get a page done today, but it seems like whenever I say that it never happens  . It is pouring rain this morning, so hopefully it will take the snow away for a bit. Trouble is it usually floods when we have this much snow to get rid of. Oh dear the phone is ringing and its my sister, gotta run. Catch up in a bit.

well it's been a rough morning. We just got back from the vet. My ear drums are now shot! Myla makes so much noise when she is there. They took a pooh sample. Gave us some meds for the diarrahea. They tried changing her food again. Meanwhile no x-ray for the bone that she ate. And now she can't go to puppy play again until her pooh sample comes back negative for parasites. $140. ugh.

now I'm off to the dentist with my oldest.

dinner (new recipe)

I really love my instant pot.

Just got a message from DD#2 - both her and her hubby have Covid. She also has the viral pneumonia along with it. Keep them in your thoughts, please.
Oh, Kay, I'm so sorry to hear that. Bad enough the COVID, but viral pneumonia, too! Sending healing thoughts to all. Hope she recovers swiftly.

Eva! I am so impressed. The cover is lovely and enticing and I see you got credit inside too. Urban must be even more amazing than you've told us. To have an interest in the "Travelers" plus trying to bring out the lives of the women and children (if Google translate got the right idea) is fabulous. And then to be able to write about it. WOW. I can see why he wasn't totally supportive of your being starstruck over another historian. ;)

Hope the house warmed up and the heater doesn't do that again.

Good afternoon. Sorry I'm so late today.

Chris, @faerywings I can just hear your jersey accent and see those hands "talking" too. Yes, the 4 of us would be something, wouldn't we? Adrienne doesn't feel well today and Alyssa is worse. We're waving to each other. It's so hard to be this close and not be able to be together. I told Adrienne that we could stand out in the yards and yell back and forth to each other. Adrienne said a lot of kids have been sent home from school with covid. UGH - it finally caught up with us out here in the middle of nowhere. STAY AWAY!!!

Kay @BrightEyes sorry to hear about your family and covid. it's everywhere.

I've been working on my wreath - not very fast, but working on it. it's hanging on my office wall and I have all my "stuff" out going through it. I think I need to order some floral picks and some other necessities - I seem to have lost a lot of my stuff in our move. I THOUGHT I had some big, heavy duty hair pins, that I could have used to hold stuff in on my wreath, but I can't find them either. UGH. I bought them by mistake - they said "for thick hair" but I have thick hair and they were ginormous. I can use the "picks" for when I get my plants started in the spring, so they're in my "wish list". I have some VERY thick twine that I'm trying to work into the wreath and I need some anchors.

SO sad about Bob Saget, isn't it? We watched Full House every week back in the day. SO young.

Sending hugs to all.

Where has the day gone? First I slept in until 7:30 which is 1/12 hours longer than normal.

Then after breakfast I dealt with some property assessment issues. Easiest thing I did all day.

I have been telling hubby the same thing for years regarding his diet and food choices. He spent time looking up diets for IBS.
We found a site that recommended which foods to avoid and which you can have. I spent hours making a chart to help with meal planning and shopping. All colour coded and categorized. It now sits in a place of honour on the fridge. I guess it had to be his idea before he would accept it. sigh... oh well. It is now 12:30.

So come 1:00 hubby decides he wants to move furniture around. We usually make space for the Christmas tree and needed to reposition the furniture for the other 11 months of the year. We have a reasonably large hutch that was for my china until I got my rosewood one refinished. I didn't want to get rid of the old one, so I suggested he turn it into a cabinet for his hundreds of movie DVD's. This would be for him, right, so of course he liked the idea. Today he decides he doesn't like it where it is because he would have to move his speakers 12". Goodness knows that can't happen. Now he decides he wants to make major furniture moves. After much discussion- what goes where, measuring space etc. Finally I say just move it and see what it looks like. Push, pull, shove and we got it into the new spot.......... "nope I don't like it there. Put it back". Push, pull, shove in reverse back to where it was. "Well okay I can move the speakers a little bit." he says. By this time it is 3:30. Now he starts in on the family room and the process starts again. Where to put the 2 big wing-backs moved room the living-room to make way for the tree. He wants the living room to not have the wing-backs because they block the speakers.
Okay, I don't mind the chairs in the family room. It means that I won't be as comfortable when watching movies but for the sake of peace I agree. But can they stay positioned as they are ... oh no he is wanting to change that too. It is now 4:30. push, pull, shove forward and reverse. The wing-backs are in the original spot in the family room. I am tired. :):)
