Good morning, ladies. :) :pillowfight:
Rise up! Time to start the day at Oscraps. It's 10:29 am - so hurry up :rotfl:

So, I brought hot coffee and Roiibush tea. My husband baked Russian pluck cake muffins yesterday. What a great recipe! I have two pieces left, I can leave them here for you. I'll bring more next time ... :giggle4:In our house, my husband bakes and I like to cook.

Now here's some information about me, so you know who you're dealing with. I retired last August. I worked as a secretary at VW in Wolfsburg for 45 years. Now I enjoy the free time and can take care of more everyday things. But most of all I enjoy free time for myself and my hobbies. I started 20 years ago with a homepage about my dachshunds Max and Odin and learned how to edit photos in different graphic and design schools online. Funnily enough, I always had more fun in courses based somewhere in the US. Everything was much more relaxed there than here in Germany. And now I've landed here with you and I'm feeling pudelwohl *lol* I'm curious what the translation makes of "pudelwohl".

I hope you are well and had a nice weekend. It was cold and grey here, so I spent all my time at the PC except for walking the dogs. I enjoy this "lazy" time in winter, because in spring the garden calls and then there is little time for my hobby. It would be wonderful if you could bring me up to date with my way of expressing myself. I could use more phrases that say it all in a nutshell. I have already internalised a new phrase. 'Ill try to pop in later"

Good morning @Su_Sanne! It is so nice to have you here to brew the coffee and have it ready for us. And muffins, too :D
I am on the East Coast of the US, close to New York City, so I am -5 hours Greenwich Mean Time. I'm just guessing, but are you 2-3 hours ahead of GMT? Plenty of time to keep the coffee pot filled. #coffee-2

I looked up the translation:
Screenshot 2023-02-06 at 07-06-58 dict.cc dictionary pudelwohl German-English translation.png
I am thrilled that you feel that way here!

Thank you for the introduction here. I briefly welcomed you in your intro thread but I'll give you a little more detail here. I'm Chris and my husband is Gary. Gary is disabled and is home 99.9999% of the time. I have two adult kids (Scott and Caitlyn) who still live at home but not for much longer. My daughter is getting married next September but her plan is to move in with her fiance Tom beforehand. Scott thought he would be out on his own by now but life has a way of flipping the table on you. That is way too crazy and complicated of a story to get into in an intro but it all ended well. And that's what matters.
I have been with Oscraps since before it was Oscraps. Vicki had a blog and gave away a ton of freebies. I know her since way back then. When she opened Oscraps in 2006, I was one of the first people to register. I love it here. Everyone is just the best :beatingheart:

Did you all have a good weekend? I got a little bit of housework done, got the majority of my shopping order done, and scrapped a page. All in all, a good day. Today is basically the same- finish cleaning the house, start some of the food for tomorrow's party, and finish the grocery order.

Hugs to you all!

Good morning ladies! Sydney decided to stay one more day so she is getting ready to leave now. Her first two classes have recordings of the seminars on demand so she often does that instead of going to the classroom. That's what she will do today so she needs to be back in time to find a parking spot and unload the car before her Physics 2 class at 10:40. Mainly we wasted time yesterday...made a trip to Walmart because they are the only place that carries the water that Sydney likes. Filled her car with gas which is a treat for her if someone else fills it when it costs $50. Then the two of us sat and binged House Hunters. She said, "We haven't done this for such a long time." And she was right. So that was a lot of fun. It really is the simple moments.

Today is Brian's 60th birthday and he wants to go to the beach to celebrate so that's what we have in store today. I'll be back for personals after Sydney leaves.

@LSlycord I know that you must be enjoying the warm weather. If you aren't, go ahead and enjoy it for me :D I hope that you get in a nice visit to Merritt Island. I was like Syd when I was in college. When I had Monday classes that started a little later - around 10, I would stay the extra night at home, get up early and drive right to class. It was a little over three hours but all of the traffic was opposite so I could leave at 7 and just be a few minutes late. Just having that one extra dinner and night in my own bed was wonderful.
Wow! I hope that Shaun goes for it! Will he train in your pool with the tether? What did he decide about his job, is he taking time off? Swimming would be a really good thing to balance school work and fun.
I am LMBO at your comment about the grocery stores being a major time-suck. It's so true even when I shop from home. At least it can be a time-suck in my PJs bwahaha

:grouphugyay: back at ya!!!

@BrightEyes kay, I am so sorry that you have been in such pain. I had a frozen shoulder when I was 20 and it's never been 100% right since. I know that your gut instinct is to immobilize it but you also know that is the worst thing to do. Good to hear that you are doing gentle stretching. Do you do wall walking (leaning against a wall and walking the fingers above your head slowly)? That was one of the few stretches that didn't make me see stars and helped at the same time.
I hope that you can find something to replace your stinky cream but I can see that you use it only when you need the big guns ;)

@Su_Sanne I checked out the two new pages and just wow! I got a little choked up myself when I saw that your dog Odin is your soulmate. Harley is/was my soul mate. She has been gone for over 10 years and I miss her still. She was special and I am sure that Odin was too.

@Cherylndesigns Haha!! That is hysterical that Asher said that the skull reminded him of you.
BTW, I am still mad at Gary for putting Braxton away in the attic. He could have played the role of the murder victim at our party tomorrow night. He would enjoy that very much.
Did you try the monitors on the other sides? Did it make any difference?

@taxed4ever :notinfrontofthekids::eek: You showed up! On a Sunday!!!
Your painting is stunning, I love how the colors flow along the plank. You are so darn talented and what special and meaningful touches you added.
Hunter will be thrilled that his Grandma is painting him Sonic. It'll be a change of pace :D
Oooooohhhh- red wine on a laptop sounds bad. No surprise he couldn't get it fixed.

@bcgal00 Sounds like you had a nice and cozy weekend. How is Jen doing? Is she feeling any better? yeah, I don't know about the fake cheese either :/ I bet D and G would have a blast sitting around watching TV and phones all way too loud! We could hide on your third floor happily scrapping away. :busy1:

@vickyday I hope that you and Mark are 100% better by now.
I have a really weird aversion to the textures of certain foods-- bananas, raw carrots, and most berries are Big Nos. But avocado- one you would think would be weird, I love.

@Nonni F Hi Arline- welcome to the chatty spot of the O! Ugh about the -17*, if the wind was anything like it was in NJ (must have been much worse) it had to have been brutal. I would have said the same thing to your cat! I yelled at my one dog who has to sniff the air, guard the driveway, and sniff the air some more before she even thinks to go potty-- it's too cold to be out there
It's supposed to be the mid-40s here, hope it is "warm" for you too!

She (Sydney) is gone. So here I am for personals. #coffee-4

@Su_Sanne first, thanks for bringing us all coffee and baked goods to start the morning. And just as important, thank you for the new word "pudelwohl". I love that word. I need to teach it to Sydney. I told her that she needs to learn some German online before she heads over there.

@faerywings last semester, she barely came home so it's nice to have her staying a little extra this semester. Traffic isn't bad on the road to school except when the county fair is going, so she should have an easy drive. It's a beautiful day and I am enjoying the weather. I think Shaun will use the tether in our pool part of the time and alternate that with workouts with a Masters Swim team. He went ahead and quit the job. He was so burned out and I told him to take the time to concentrate on school but that he needed to find something physical to do as well.

@taxed4ever that is a beautiful painting. I love all of the special touches like the feather. This is just amazing. How big is that? What did your SIL's boyfriend say when he saw it? Really amazing work! LOL about Hunter getting a "commissioned" piece. Glad that Gary got a new PC. I'm sure that a glass of wine isn't a good thing on the keyboard.

@vickyday I am so sorry that you are having such a hard time getting to feeling good. And I know that you and Mark must have felt awful if you skipped church. I hope the day of rest helped.

@bcgal00 so glad that Jen is done. Abusive behavior from the owner...and then I'm sure that the owner will be one of those people that carries on about how they can't keep good help. Grrr... Hope that the lab option looks good to her.

@Nonni F welcome to where the craziness begins! New Hampshire sounded dreadfully cold.... I agree, don't open the door in that kind of cold! And no stops to run in for milk or bread or anything else! Sounds like the weather is improving for you though!

@BrightEyes I hope that the stinky ointment helps! Does the shoulder make driving hard?

Ok...got a few things I need to do before we head to the beach. Talk to all of you later.

Is this a good place to come to tell you more about me? What brought me here? How long I've been scrapping? That I'm not supervised at the moment and this could get messy?
Or should I start a new thread and cry when no one reads it? (insert sarcasm... I have half a dozen brothers... I'm thick skinned)

This would be an excellent place to tell us about yourself. And if you want to make a gazillion posts, that is fine as well. We really are one of the most accepting group of people that I have ever met!

Okay.... here goes nothing. I've always loved photography and when one of my granddaughters was about three with a very creative imagination... I went in search of kits to bring her dreams to life. I ended up somewhere else (not sure if I'm supposed to say where) but they closed their doors more than a year ago and my mojo seemed to go with it. It was my "home" where lots of creative friends were made.

Recently, Christine offered me a spot on her Fiddlette CT and I jumped right in. I'm loyal but I'm also a hot mess... and now.... I'm all yours! LOL

I'm a USAF Veteran who married the love of my life after "dating" him for twenty years. We have seven grandchildren and four cats. I live in a small NH town not far from where I grew up and work as a Deputy Town Clerk/Tax Collector. I enjoy gardening and motorcycle riding. I am clueless when it comes to traditional scrap. If I join a challenge that requires such a thing... your knowledge, criticism and laughter about what I attempted will always be welcome.

Thanks for all the hellos and support I've gotten so far. I hope your Monday is not so well.... MONDAY!

PEACE

Arline-- you are going to fit right in :D

I can tick off almost everything you wrote and say -- Mmmhmm- You and @vickyday can talk about motorcycles, you and @BrightEyes are both military wives. @bcgal00 is an incredible photographer. When @tanteva pops in, you can share notes on how to deal with stubborn cats (I think that phrase is redundant)
Gardening and hot messes-- that is where I excel :tongueout1:
And as for a sense of humor-- I think you and our other new victim- ahem, I mean "member" @Su_Sanne are going to get along great too!

These threads are basically a coffee klatch free for all. So enjoy!

Yes, it is the little things they (and we) remember! And even at that, the kids remember things we did that I don't remember while raising 4 little ones! My first was born in Jan 1980 and the fourth was born in June 1985. I love the goofy face Jessica is making, lol! I don't know why kids have to go through that making-goofy-faces-for-the-camera phase! This photo was taken while vacationing with mom and dad at Versailles, IN State Park in the summer of 1986. I miss those little faces......and I don't at the same time, LOL!

Good Afternoon! I started out here when it was still morning, LOL! That happens, doesn't it?! Mark is always saying to me, "I wish you would leave the house more often and spend more time with your friends." My response is always, "I don't need to leave the house. I am fine being here on the computer with these friends!"

I'm running a load of laundry as we speak. Towels and dog blankets. Mr. Asher got quite used to being on the couch with Mark this weekend.....the couch he knows he is not supposed to be on! Every time I would walk towards the couch his ears dropped. He just knew I was going to make him leave the couch, LOL! We have to keep "his" blankets where he is allowed, or he sneaks, just like a kid! I'm OK with him being on the couch as long as a blanket is between him and the couch! But the blanket needed washing because when he washes himself his breath is so bad that his fur begins to stink!

Anyway, I listened to an audiobook this weekend to see if I could do something about my kitchen fairy (or lack thereof) situation. I'm the first to admit that I am not a good housekeeper. I don't fuss about dust. I don't fuss about an unmade bed. I don't fuss about a sink full of dishes! I don't fuss about hanging a coat on the back of the dining room chair instead of hanging it up in the closet. However, I would love to minimalize a lot of the "stuff" that is laying around the house as a result of bringing 2 households together when Mark and I married. That is what really drives me nuts.....the fact that I don't have room to move around! So, anyway, the book I listened to is "How to Manage Your Home Without Losing Your Mind" by Dana K. White. It is a book of common sense, really. But, I have done better with the dishes this weekend, LOL, after listening to it! My sink is empty of dirty dishes as I have put them straight into the dishwasher. DH is not there yet, but he won't do it until he realizes (after I bring it to his attention) I am no longer piling dirty dishes into the sink! And she gave some other good suggestions on how to declutter. I will need to declutter my stuff first before I will get DH on board with that, too. At least I hope it works that way, LOL! We shall see! Wish me luck! I want to try to get rid of the stuff I never look at or touch! And that includes clothes that don't fit! And even some that do because I wear the same old things all of the time since I don't go anywhere!

I'm almost finished with the puzzle I started Friday or Saturday. I got all 4 of these "The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady" puzzles on sale at Rainbow Resources last year. I'm working on my 3rd one.
Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady.jpg

OK. That's about it for me. My stomach is beginning to grumble, so I am going to put the towels in the dryer and get something to eat.

Have a great day!

Good Monday Morning everyone! It is nice to be sitting in the quiet house and just having my coffee! Yesterday was busy with helping SIL Linda. We (my DH) got all the chores crossed off of her list. I took the painting to her boyfriend and he absolutely loved it! He even had tears in his eyes :lovey3:. I got paid in Cash and two bottles of my fav wine (Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc). So nice!! We came home and had home made pizza with a cauliflower crust for supper, that was pretty yummy! Today I need to make some cauliflower wraps and get some scrapping done! I am far behind on things so far this month. Tomorrow afternoon I am off the the Dr. for my complete check up. I can't remember the last time I saw her, its been a long time! Guess thats a good thing, it means I have been pretty healthy right?! I am sure that Heather will be giving me a face time call right away, so I will try to wrap this up and get on with personals!

@Su_Sanne - What a great way to start the morning with a pillow fight :pillowfight:and coffee and muffins too! :hug2: thanks for that! I will quickly give you an intro on me too. I live on Vancouver Island, on the outskirts of the small city of Duncan. Canada. I was born and raised here, but lived in Saskatchewan for 28 years after my husband Gary joined theR.C.M.P. we finally got transferred back home and we will never leave again! We love it here! I have been at Oscraps for almost as long as @faerywings, I think I joined in 2007? Nope maybe 2008?? I can't remember, its been a long time anyway. DH and I have two children, and four grandchildren.

Well of course Heather has called and I have been talking with her for almost an hour LOL. Ok so here I go again with personals.

@faerywings - Are you all ready for your Murder Mystery Party?? What time will the Party get started? Sounds like you had a pretty productive day yesterday! I hope to have one of those days today! Thanks for the nice compliments on my painting, you are so sweet!

@LSlycord - Happy Birthday to your hubby!! What a great way to spend his birthday! Thank you also for the compliment on my painting! You know I never really measured the size of it. I think it was probably around 40 inches long and perhaps 12/14 inches wide. Yes Mark was very happy with it! He said it was very special to him and that he loved it! Glad that your daughter got spend an extra day with you and that Shaun will be getting back to his swimming! Those tethers are great when you can't do lap swimming, more work than you would think.

@Nonni F - Thanks for the introduction!! You will definitely fit right in here! As for being a hot mess, well join the club! I am usually a hot mess myself! I have a son and daughter in law that are both in the military, so I can sort of relate to that also.

@vickyday - Sounds like you are getting a handle on the de-cluttering, I can't stand any kind of clutter and my DH is the same way. Guess we are a couple of Neat Freaks LOL. I am one of those everything in its place and a place for everything kind of people. Hope that you will find it more relaxing to have a de-cluttered home! Those puzzles look amazing! Hard to do, but amazing!

Ok I better get some brunch and get on with my day! I hope you all have a lovely one!

Hahaha I have an eye doctor appointment at 1:30 and Chuck is looking at his watch. He's been "herding us women around all these years and trying to get us places on time. He knows we wait until the last minute. :multitasking:

I'll be back later, gator.

Finally back home. After very minimal sleep last night, I knew I had to go to urgent care today. I had tried to get an appt with PC doc but it would be 3 weeks... so tried to get one at UC yesterday but they were all full for the day. Got on-line at 5 AM this morning and got a 9AM one at the near-by UC. I was seen by a great NP... so glad I went in. Turns out it is NOT a torn rotator cuff after all. Took x-rays and looks like it is shoulder impingement. They referred me to Ortho... and I will be seen there tomorrow morning!! WOW. Didn't expect to get in there so quickly. They also gave me a shot to help reduce inflammation which has kicked in and the back and left neck pain is less. To make matters even more bizarre - I pick up a bag with with my right hand yesterday and twisted my right wrist. So now I am the proud owner of a sling for the left arm and a right wrist brace!!:lol23: Of course, I can't drive with them on but will wear them while I am up and awake.

Better get the sling and the brace on and see about getting some lunch. CYL

Okay.... here goes nothing.

MONDAY!

PEACE
Thanks for these profound insights :rotfl:I have to put your contribution in the translator machine because there was only Ooops in my mind. Do you really live in Germany, Nordniedersachsen??? But you are not German, right?

Good morning ladies. The birds and dogs have been fed. I saw birds coming out of both nesting houses on the fence so looks like they are starting to get their little houses ready for babies this spring. I can't wait to see the little ones. I took Remi to a dog friendly park yesterday and she was full of mud but happy by the time she hopped back in the car to come home. The back of my SUV is filthy, might work on cleaning that today. I made keto taco soup yesterday and have enough for the whole week. Yum! I'll have that each night for dinner along with a side dish of some sort. The dogs are going in for their nail clipping today, then groceries and we'll stop at the dog park on the way back.

I love my little city but it sure is a mucky mess in the areas where the snow is melting. Because it is so dry here I know that'll soon turn to dust, not mud, but I'm guessing that mid Feb to early March is the worst before the heat starts to dry everything up.

I had to stop and check all the connections and shift the big power outlet under my desk. I think Remi is shifting it as she lays under the back of the desk. The screens started to flicker and the browser was opening and closing on its own so I couldn't type. Now its working so I'm sure it was just a loose connection.

Jen is starting to feel so much better. She is sleeping better and seems lighter in mood, smiling more.

@faerywings The party is tomorrow? What fun.
@LSlycord I had to laugh when you said it cost $50 to fill the car. My SUV now costs over $100 to fill. I dread what the summer will cost when they say the price will go up drastically again. We watch House Hunters too, both the US and Canadian versions. Happy b-day to Brian. Yes, D and G would be chatting electronics stuff and making a racket while we chilled and had fun upstairs :)

For the newbies @Nonni F and @Su_Sanne I'm Rae, bcgal00, I used to live on the west cost of BC Canada (Vancouver area) but last year moved into the interior to a small city called Kamloops. I retired from medical transcription and was a wedding/portrait photographer for years. Now I enjoy wildlife, landscape and pet photography. We have 3 kids, 4 grands, 2 great-grands and 3 dogs.

@vickyday Glad you and M are feeling better. Love that old photo of your family. You are all so adorable! Good luck with decluttering and staying on top of chores. I am really good with keeping the main areas clean and organized, it is the hidden areas that I have to be careful about cluttering (like closets and the basement storage).

@BrightEyes Poor Kay. Your health has sure taken a beating lately. Glad you are getting treatment now.

Time to get dressed, it's almost lunch time and someone is trying to get my attention LOL.

@taxed4ever Please tell your son and daughter in law I said THANK YOU. I joined during the COLD WAR. Not that things couldn't have changed on a dime but I have the utmost respect for those Brothers and Sisters who joined in a time of war. If there's one thing I miss that I've never found since, it's the brotherhood while serving. There's nothing like it. (Though I'm hoping this group will be). Is a fair trade off, someone sharing with me their knowledge of shadowing and I will in turn explain you can use a cigarette pack to seal off a sucking chest wound? No? Darn!

To complicate things I use COREL. I am not a PSP girl, I have tried.. but like most things with me. I am a creature of habit and I just couldn't figure it out.

I get the early morning coffee Hellos!.. but, will there be wine this evening? :drinks2:

@vickyday Love the Preacher to Biker move. One of my best biker friends IS a Preacher! As for ride or drive.... I'm happing riding these days. Like you, with a camera in hand. Keep the rubber to the road and the bugs out of your teeth.

I can't tell you all how excited I am that I found a place for my snark!

Photo taken many moons ago....

Would love to see your wildlife photography. My father does a lot of wildlife and landscape. I have always dreamed of having his eye... but pretty sure I got his dry humor instead.
