We are down to the last full week of February!:bliss:
If I can make it through to the middle of March, I will consider that I have successfully survived winter.

Yesterday, when I let the dogs out in the morning, it was cold, but that different kind of cold. The sun is stronger too which makes it feel less dreary.

I really have no idea of what I did yesterday. Started my food shopping list, washed a sink load of dishes (why do teenagers insist on leaving dishes in the sink??), then when through another photo album, filing and dating pics. The ones that I have left are the ones I don't have any idea of the dates and it will take a bit of a scavenger hunt to figure it out.

For today........
............. *drum roll*..........
I am working at one of my old clients' house. She has a regular cleaner but is having me do special jobs. She says that she has a lot of them. I'll head over there this morning and work for a few hours. If it gets done, it will be good, but she says that it will most likely take more than one day.

Thank goodness, cuz I am flat out broke!

We have two good things for today:
World Thinking Day has been celebrated every year since 1926, and has been an important fundraising day since 1932. It’s a day about friendship, advocacy, and fundraising – all to support over 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world.
This special day is celebrated in several ways. Girl Guides and Girl Scouts spend today learning about their international sisters around the world. They participate in entertaining, educational activities based on the year’s advocacy theme. Past themes have included education, hunger and poverty, gender equality, and environmental sustainability.
Fundraising is also an important part of this day. Money that is donated will help girls learn new skills, to take action on issues important to them, and to help them develop as global citizens.
Lastly, Girl Scouts use today to earn their World Thinking Day badge! Celebrate today by supporting your local Girl Scout Troop or making a direct donation to the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
I like this advocacy very much, but if you need something a bit more lighthearted at the end of the day, it is also:

Today is National Margarita Day! Send a free Margarita Day eCard to friends and family! The margarita cocktail – a famous concoction of tequila, Cointreau or Triple Sec, and lime juice – has been around since the 1940s. Every bartender in the world has put a unique spin on this classic, but no one knows who created the original.
Dozens of people claim that they invented the margarita, including a bartender named Willie from Mexico City. He said that in 1934 he created and named the drink for his friend Marguerite Hemery. Another popular legend is that Carlos “Danny” Herrera developed the drink at his restaurant in Tijuana in 1938. He invented it for Marjorie King, a customer who was allergic to all hard alcohol except tequila, and didn’t like its sour taste. Another story is that the Dallas socialite Margarita Sames mixed up the drink in 1948 for a house full of guests. One of them was Tommy Hilton who later added the drink to the bar menu at his hotels.
While the true identity of the tequila master may never be known, the margarita will go down in history as one of the most popular mixed drinks of all time. To celebrate National Margarita Day, invite some friends over and enjoy a pitcher of homemade margaritas!

Rae- I feel your tax/filing pain!!!!! Because we have such an incredible amount of medical expenses, I have separate folders for all of those receipts. But as you read yesterday, there is so much other "stuff" required for everything, it is so hard to keep it all straight. Hope that you find everything that you need.
That is a big decision to move but it might be fun. Would it be like a Mother-Daughter house? At least you have time to decide. How is Bailey doing? Hope she is well!

Hugs to everyone!

good morning - well I am back from a fantastic weekend! On Friday is was off to hair cut and color and then home to do laundry and get ready for the Devils hockey game. On Friday they lost to the Islanders 1-0. They had chances but just could not finish. Came home and finished packing. Saturday was up early to catch the bus with the rest of the Devils fan club for our trip to DC for the weekend. Got in to DC just in time for lunch and then we went to the Spy Museum. It was totally fun. And we learned a lot about old spy craft and traitors. Came back to hotel which was located in a perfect spot for walking to all the Smithsonian museums and the hockey arena. So we walked our legs off. The hockey game against the Caps were so exciting event though my team lost 4-3 in the end. On Sunday got up and had a huge breakfast then off the see the Washington Monument, the WWII memorial, Korean memorial and the Vietnam Wall of names. It was an overcast day and we were caught in the rain but it was worth it. Came back and went to the American History museum which is one we had never been in. It was so interesting - I loved seeing the Star Spangled Banner Flag. They had a gun boat from Lake Champlain that held 44 men and I swear it was hardly bigger than a large row boat and of course it also had cannon. We left DC late afternoon. Came home and the house was still standing and the dogs were super happy to see us so that was sweet. Now today is recovery!

Chris there is nothing wrong with slow days. Hope the job at your former client is fun!

Rae I was out walking Luther and we met another woman walking two dogs. We got to talking and she and her daughter have a dog walking and doggie play day business that they are starting up. So hopefully this week we can get together and find some play time for Luther. She says she has two biggish dogs so that should be good for Luther. Thanks for inspiring me to find him playmates.

Have a great day all!

Good morning ladies... I am here in frozen Cold Lake!! Having lots of fun with the grands and getting in lots of cuddles and story time. They are a bit obsessed with screen time so I really have to put my foot down about all of that! Then they both tried to fake sick so they would not have to go to school today. I told them if they stayed home that they only got to be in bed no screens, no games no nothing!! So miraculously they were cured :becky: Sadie is a slow poke and gets distracted by everything a real dreamer and it takes her forever to get ready in the mornings. Isaac is just the opposite and is ready to go in record time. DS and his lovely wife are safe and sound in their vacation destination. It looks like paradise there, I bet they never want to leave! Anyway I have a full day alone and will need to head out for groceries, and take the dog for a walk. She is young and wants to play all of time. I am not used to having a dog to take care of too!! No rest for me! But I am enjoying all of this, except for the cold and dry, dry air!! My poor nose is not used to this!

Chris - Glad you are able to do some special jobs for your client again! Hopefully it pays well and puts some much needed dollars in your purse! Yes just a few more weeks and it will be spring!! I hope that the warmer days make you feel better, I know I miss the mild weather already and I am having flash backs to my years of living in Saskatchewan, uggh!!!

Nancy - Sounds like you might have found some new playmates for Luther! I wish there was a place to drop off Storm for the day so I could get some scrapping time in and a bit of cleaning. Hard to do when she follows me around all day long!! But she is a real sweetie, so gentle and quiet, but loves to go in and out all day more like a cat than a dog LOL.

Rae - I too have been wondering how Bailey is making out? I sure hope she sticks to taking her meds!! Sounds like you have some big decisions to make! I had to move from B.C. shortly after we got married and after 28 years of being away, I swore I would never move again!! Not even to follow my kids around, perhaps it is selfish of me but I really don't think I could do it again! I miss my kids but my son and his wife get transferred all the time and there is no way in hell I would live in Ontario where my DD is, the humidity would kill me for sure!

Ok well I better hit the shower and get some groceries, then when it warms up a bit I will take Storm for a walk. Hope to get some scrap time in today also, but who knows? Have a great day everyone!!

Hi ladies. Phew. A weekend ... I keep wondering if I actually HAD a weekend?! too much to do, and - seemingly - so little time! Taking a lunch break from training with my new side-kick and catching up on things. :ranger:

Ugh, Chris, I don't envy you with tax time - and Rae, having to find all the receipts. We owe this year. Boo!! Some to be expected (I had a 401k loan with my prior employer that I didn't pay off before I left ... voila! extra earned income) ... but this was also the first year that we couldn't claim Stan as a dependent. Last year he didn't earn enough, but this year, our preparer was kinda of like, um, yeah, it's not a huge amount of money for the year, but he's not in school, not even part-time, so she recommended we err on the side of caution. At least we've got another six weeks or so to put additional money aside.

Of course, during that time, we'll be on VACATION! Yay! I'll still be online - taking the laptop to work and play ;) - but three weeks of just setting my own timelines will be nice. Booked the whale watching cruise in Hawaii this morning ... can't wait!! Talked to Mum over the weekend, and I can tell she's getting excited, too.

Rae, good luck on weighing the pro's and con's of a possible move. The hubs being able to transfer his job would be pretty important, as you mentioned. Do you think he would be able to?

Trudy, saw some of the snow vids on FB ... bbbbrrr!! Looks like the g/kids had fun, though. Too funny how they miraculously were feeling so much better ;)

Ruh-roh. Just got a call from Prometric, the vendor that manages one of the testing centers in my local area. I was scheduled to take my next level HR exam last Monday ... and then BAM! 5+ inches of snow followed by ice. At 6 am, I couldn't safely make the trip to the center - and I didn't even know if they were open.

Sooo ... the society that gives me my certification has approved a make-up exam, and the testing center has an opening on Thursday morning. Eeekk!! That's the only one (I tried for next week), so I took it.

Wish me luck!!

*** back to studying I go! ***

That is great to hear, Kat! Glad you got the makeup exam.
