brrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!
-1*F right now and crazy wind. I can't imagine what it feels like out there. I feel so bad for anyone who has to work outside today. It is President's Day in the US so garbage collections, postal workers should have the day off, although I don't know if tomorrow will be much better, since more snow is being forecasted.

Right now, I am snuggled inside my Linus Blanket with coffee and my Oooos so that makes it all good.
It is going to be a quiet day here. Cait is home from school, but Scott has classes. He'd better make sure he gives himself time to warm up his car really good.

QOTD What is your favorite hot drink when you are cold? Coffee, hot chocolate? Teas-- black, green, herbal? Lattes or other fancy coffees?
You all know how much I love my coffee, but I have been trying to drink tea in the afternoon instead of coffee. I like white/green teas or herbals. Hot choch, not so much anymore, but cait made a hot choch recipe with milk, cocoa and nutella that was totally decadent!

Nancy- I thought I saw you blowing in the wind past my window! LOL It is crazy out there. We have some branches come down, but pretty much small ones, thank goodness. I hope that your DS is able to get a parking garage close to where he has to be today.
Did you make it out to dinner?

Trudy- did you have a nice time with the IL's? The carpet in my bedroom is 20 years old and it is, thankfully, a pretty color and when I steam clean, it perks up nicely. Much of my house needs painting too, but I really can't even think about it, it is too overwhelming.
Too cute about Mason liking the Vicks. If Heather can get her hands on Eucalyptus smithii (that kind is gentler than the more commom Euc. globulus) she can put a few drops into liquid bath soap, or lotion or even into a burner if she want to go a more natural route. I used that with my kids and it seemed to help.

Jean- I am hibernating with you! Is the cold and wind any better by you today? Stay warm, my friend!!!

Warm vibes to all of you who need them and boo hiss to Trudy and her warmth! :pound:

I'm up way too early. Went all day yesterday and last night with no cold meds. Stuffiness woke me up with a headache. It's not quite over, but I'm back to doing things like fixing meals and knitting. Did a couple pages yesterday for challenges. Still working with the handicap of only partial use of my supplies.

DH is golfing today and Wednesday...maybe Friday too. He's been off for a couple weeks, so itching to take advantage of our (sorry) gorgeous spring-like weather. Our garbage collectors work today, and so do I (laundry). Biggest frustration for me is that the online library is down for maintenance, and wouldn't you know, I finished the book I was on. I'm an Amazon Prime member, and so can borrow a book a month for my Kindle, but it is such an awkward system they use, that it's almost more bother than it's worth. I finally found a book I thought I could enjoy, and it's a stinker. But even if I "return" it, I can't borrow another until March 2! I may have to resort to my Mythology for Dummies. The library and Overdrive work much better for borrowing Kindle books.

Coffee--plain and strong (but not bitter) in the morning. DH fixes us mochas almost every afternoon. So wish I liked tea, but just don't. Hot chocolate? ack. No thanks.

That's all I've got this morning.

Good morning - It is down right frigid but luckily I am only at 7 degrees and not minus. Yesterday turned out to be a lot of fun as I watched hockey, took a scrapping class with Anna Aspnes. Anna is venturing into teaching her blending techniques so it was really fun to see how she thinks and works. And yes I did go out to dinner. We had such a good time. We went to Benihana's and their food is so good. We all had fun and laughed and ate. I was the only one who brought home leftovers. I ordered edamame for appetizer and my DH said he did not like them - well he ate half of my portion they were so good. That or he was hungry LOL. My youngest son made sure they knew it was my birthday so I got serenaded and he also picked up the bill as he is now working. That was a sweet surprise. So it was a very good birthday and Valentine's Day weekend. And forgot but my DH also cleaned the kitchen floor - now that was a real surprise!

Chris we do not have any downed branches but that wind is so strong I did not even try to walk as I really would have blown past your window. Stay warm inside your blanket!

Phylis I watched the Pens play the Blackhawks and I have never before seen the refs reverse a penalty Only for Crosby. It was not a penalty but if they correct the call for him I hope they do the other players too. I must say that those moves for the shoot out were awesome!

Trudy Yes I did watch Hockey Day in Canada. I love learning more about Canada. This year they focused on teammates and I thought that was pretty cool. I also love how they are really trying to get girls involved too! Hope you had fun at the In-laws and enjoyed the new improvements.

Jean and Shar hope you had good Sundays

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... I did not sleep well last night, I dreamed all night long and woke up a few times with my sciatica bothering me, but too dopey to get up and take something for it. It's my DD's birthday today!! I can't believe that she is 33 today!! Bet she can't either :becky: I might not hear from her today as it is family day in Ontario and they are going into the big city for the day. I know that Jonah's family spoiled her with a cake and some lovely gifts for her birthday yesterday. I wish I could do the same for her, I hate being so far away!! :hurt:

Chris - Brrrr!! Keep warm and cozy under that new blanket!! We did have a nice day at the In-Laws!! MIL very happy with her new carpeting and it really does look so much better! I light colour and the new paint really got them out of the dark living room and into the light. New furniture too a big lounger chesterfield (sectional) MIL never does anything small LOL. (except their double bed) :becky: It really made me laugh when she told me that they bought it from the Brick furniture store, because just a few weeks ago she said she would never buy from the Brick she said they sold nothing but junk!!! :noidea: But it was a gorgeous day and we sat on the deck and looked out on the Lake, it was like glass. Here's a couple of photos I took on my iPhone taken just as the sun was going down.

Shar - Nice to hear that you are feeling better! Too bad that you are still stuffy and waking up with a headache is not fun at all! Have you ever read the Outlander Series?? A bunch of here have and we love them! I got mine all on audio book on my Kobo, but my sister has the whole series in Hardcover and signed by the Author, I am very jealous!! LOL. Hope you find something that you like to read!!

Nancy - I might have to check out that class with Anna A she is such an amazing Designer! Glad to hear that you enjoyed learning about us Crazy Canadians! Hockey really is our Love !! Although DH and I get into heated discussion about how ridiculous the salaries are for those who do not supply an essential service, but we won't go there right now :becky:

Phylis and Jean - Hope you both come out of hibernation today!

QOTD - Coffee with Vanilla creamer!! Yummy! I don't drink tea too often and limit my coffee consumption to usually 2 cups a day.

Hope everyone has an amazing day and that you all get to scrap about something you love!

We're shivering here but glad not to live in Boston. I was wrong yesterday, the high was actually +3. Previous lowest high for Feb. 15 was +8. Overnight it got down around -10 but we may get to +14 today. Haven't had new snow since Saturday, but will get more this week and some single digit temps.

On the bright side, I have a new version of PSP. I hadn't updated in a long time and the last version wasn't exactly compatible with our new Windows 8.1 computers. Got the new one installed on both computers and yesterday did my first LO with it. Not a lot of change but so far have seen a few new goodies. Also bright, DH brought home bouquet of sunshine today (bright yellow mum or daisy kind of flowers.)

Chris, as long as you stay in with the Linus blanket, looks like you're set today. Hope Scott doesn't blow away out there.

Nancy, glad you're going to stay out of the wind too. Your dinner sounds so great and even the kitchen floor! We had that hockey game on and the reversed call really got everyone's attention. The officials are doing some of that kind of conferencing in baseball and helping get the calls right. Hope that is where it is going in hockey too.

Shar, love the page of your airplane row of seats. Glad you feel well enough to get scrapping. Hope the headache went away and the cold follows it off.

Trudy, you sure know how to rub it in! Those are gorgeous photos and some of us wanted to be in Mexico with you and now this? Glad it was a good time.

Phylis, hope you haven't frozen solid!

Happy President's Day in the US.

I wish I could be interested in the Outlander series, but reading about them makes me think it would not be a good match. I don't care for romance OR fantasy/time-travel books. I'm into slice of life (Anne Tyler, Richard Russo, Elizabeth Berg) and COZY mysteries (Cat Who series, Agatha Christie, M.C. Beaton, Robert Barnard) or a combination of the two (Alexander McCall Smith). Problem is, I've read everything they've written. I haven't read any Michner for many years...may go back and pick up some of the ones I missed. Don't care for spy thrillers, and John Grisham books (at least the lawyer ones) are all seeming so much the same I can't remember which ones I've read!

Jean! I ADORE your Challenge 2 layout. It is gorgeous. I'm really getting into Romy's stuff, and with all my computer woes, had trouble finding my stash. Finally found it this morning. Can't WAIT to get more of her goodies.

I wish I could love hockey they way so many of you do. I just sort of skim over The Hockey Report. Sorry.

Trudy, your photos are dazzling. I've been watching some free videos by the best iPhone photographer I've ever heard/seen: Emil Pakarklis · Founder at IPhone Photography School....he speaks my language. I'm hoping to sign up for his "Academy" class next week. He takes all the techie mystery out of iPhoneography (or droid).

Anyway, I'm sorry you had a bad night. Mine was pretty good until the stuffy nose and dry mouth woke me up! I know what you mean about your daughter's age. My oldest turned 40 2 years ago and I about stroked out! #2 turned 40 in December. Baby girl won't get there for 3.5 years...sheesh. I'll be into my 70s by then! Talk about unbelievable!

Hibernation is a good thing when the weather is like it is in the east. I feel guilty! =:O
