Daily Ooos: Monday, December 8

The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
It can't really be Monday? For real?
I feel like I need a restart for a full weekend. A three-day weekend, perhaps. Who knows how to make that happen?
Anyone? Bueller?
Cait and I had a good day yesterday with our baking. I say good, rather than great, because we had more than a few technical difficulties. We managed to laugh our way through much of it. (The spiked eggnog helped :giggle4:)
We made four batches of cookies. Walnut balls (AKA Russian Teacakes) and Walnut Cups (Nut Tassies) and each was done in vegan and non-vegan options. Cailtyn and I did a side-by-side test of the walnut balls and I don't think many people could tell the difference between vegan butter and real butter varieties. We don't know what happened to the regular walnut balls but something was off. We had to add more butter and sugar to the dough so it wouldn't crumble. In all of the years I have made them (since I was a teenager), I never had that happen.

That literally took all day-- started at 8 am and finished at 4.30.

I am in full-blown catch-up on life mode today, as well as prepping for the bonkers week ahead. jaida was in such a playful mood yesterday and we feel so sad that she is going to be miserable again. Cait joked that maybe the third surgery will be the charm and will reset her personality to the non-neurotic puppy she was before the first surgery.

Main things today: Finish my food shopping order. Prep for my field trip on Friday. I might have someone -- potential new employee/also the long-time boyfriend of one of the FT staff members-- tagging along/observing/training during the session. No pressure LOL

How about you? HAGD!!!

Day 8 - Holiday Two Truths and a Lie | GAME

(Day 8! Already!!?? How did that happen???)

I don't think there is any way possible to catch up on both Sat/Sun personals, so I'm gonna take my own gosh dang advice and not stress about it. At least not stress too much.
I'll read through everything -- and maybe I'll leave it at that.

ETA: I read through the entire weekend thread and nodded and "liked" in my head everything you wrote. LOL over the COWS. I relate. That said, I'm opting to finish my third mug of coffee and start my day instead of personals.
*pats self on the back*
It CAN be done!!

Good girl...should be no stress here... this is the fun place.

I can not believe it! I have done all challenges and played all games so far in the event! I will work a full day on Wednesday though, but it will hopefully be a quick catch up on Thursday.

Tomorrow I will be home, waiting for the delivery of my Black Week sale shopping: a new freezer and a new computer! I think I'm more excited about the freezer actually, even though a new computer will be amazing. The old freezer is one of those HUGE boxes, where everything ends up drowning in the bottom. I'm scared what I will find down there. LOL It's so big, it's out on the porch, and it's NOT fun going out and get food from it in the winter. The new is a small "cupboard" that will fit inside. Also, it will be easier to keep track of what we have ... I hope!

If anyone's up for a little reading challenge for next year, I posted this: https://oscraps.com/community/threads/book-challenge-for-2026.43366/

Quick in and out. Heading to pick up Mark for lunch in a few. Meeting our pastor there.
I've done the church deposit and gotten groceries, mainly for Mark to take to work for breakfast and snacks.
Hope to be back later.
Finished my devotional for tomorrow but we are having a mix of rain and snow today so the meeting may be postponed.
Have a great day

We had a busy weekend. Fortunately Friday's snow was melted by midday Saturday. However, it's snowing again today and they are saying to expect another 2-3". I have a meeting this afternoon that I'm hoping will be moved over to Zoom. That's one of the best lessons of the pandemic -- now we all know how to do Zoom or Teams or something.

I've got laundry going with the assumption the power won't go out because we don't have ice coming down. It's so cold that we have real snow. I'm planning on making chicken enchiladas for dinner, but I don't have the Swiss cheese I usually use. I think regular "Mexican blend" won't kill us because I don't feel like driving to the grocery. An audiobook that I've been waiting for has come in on my library's Libby app, so I will probably listen to that and knit. I'm trying to get David's Christmas socks finished before it's actually Christmas.

David had the dress rehearsal for his concert yesterday evening, so I was able to stay home and watch Die Hard which he hates. I, on the other hand, consider it an obligatory Christmas movie so I try to fit it in sometime when he's away. I always marvel at how we lived such a short time ago. Lighting up a cigarette in the airport. Carrying a gun in a holster on the plane. Needing to find a phone to call in an emergency. And the women's hairstyles! :giggle4:

The moose were in the corner of our house trying to get out of the wind. We have an L shaped house and they were in the inside corner. Up close and personal.
Once I biked on the bike trail around Anchorage and everyone had to stop because there was a moose just hanging there. They look cute on TV but holy smoke, they're huge in real life! I hope they don't come so close in the summer when you're enjoying your deck.

I don't think there is any way possible to catch up on both Sat/Sun personals, so I'm gonna take my own gosh dang advice and not stress about it.
Perfect attitude!

The old freezer is one of those HUGE boxes, where everything ends up drowning in the bottom.
My daughter has a chest freezer, and even though it's not huge, I think the whole bottom half is stuff they never look at. About once a year when we're visiting I try to go through and retrieve some stuff from the lowest strata to cook up but I don't think it makes a big difference. The cabinet style sounds much more practical.

I can not believe it! I have done all challenges and played all games so far in the event!
I was just thinking that myself this morning! Yay us!

:windy1:
Someone, please, stop the crazy winds!!!! They were less yesterday but soon (today) they're whipping again. Hubs loves weather type apps and he's watching this horror and says that its sending all our winter weather south to you all in the lower 48!!!!! Sorry girls, youre getting my weather. Send it back please and send this wind back out into the nether.

Anyone? Bueller?

I love this line!!!! I use it all the time!!!

Best decision ever! God job Chris! Faery can learn new tricks!!!

Isn't is sad how as adults we get so excited over silly things like a fridge or freezer? I hope the new one helps you keep track of what you have and not lost in the bottomless pit of a big chest freezer.

HEHE We watched this the other day too!!! Have to watch it, its a Christmas movie!!!!!

Yep, they're not little and fuzzy at all!!!! They certainly have the right of way. They get to go where they want :giggle4: Thankfully they dont come too close in summer but they do get closer then you want at times. Thankfully they do most of their moving before we are out enjoying the porch.

Today is Monday. Means laundry and vacuuming and making dinner
:laundry::vacuuming::housekeeping::showering:

Gonna be a fun one. Hopefully the winds die down and we dont loose power. I dont enjoy cooking by candlelight. Off and running to check out the game for today. Have a great day!

Good morning ladies. My head is spinning (I'm sure you can relate @faerywings LOL). But, I am getting things done one at a time and trying not to focus on all that still needs to be done.

I thought I was going to have to bring Darrell to a get his hearing checked this afternoon but the hospital is going to transport him back and forth. One of the meds they have him on can possibly cause hearing loss which they said is rare but...they did have a patient recently that had that side effect so now they are checking all patients. Neither of us have ever had our hearing checked so I am curious to hear what his result will be. This is something I should be getting done too in the new year. I know my hearing has decreased over the last few years.

Today I got my challenge ready, will put together a grocery shopping check list for myself and my two helpers for the upcoming grammas xmas party in a few days. We'll go to costco on Wed. I also need to put together another list for our xmas party, held on saturday night. I finally got the menu planned out last night.

I have most of the house decorated but Jen and I will do the fireplace garland tomorrow. The tree is done. I pick up Darrell hopefully on thursday to come home, fingers crossed that doesn't change b/c my grammas party is friday and our party is saturday so coming home thursday is the best day. He explained our plans to the respirologist at the hospital a few days ago and she agreed that coming home a few days early shouldn't be a problem but a new respirologist has taken over the ward now so hopefully he doesn't mess up our plans.

I need to get the car washed and hopefully it is working ok today b/c Jen used it and the gas gauge stopped working. I'm hoping that if I fill it up today it will work ok and maybe it was just the gas ball thingy (like my technical terms LOL) that was stuck. If not, we might only be left with the truck to drive for a week or two until we can get a tow truck to bring the KIA to Calgary for repairs (we are under warranty with KIA but no dealership is here in our town). I hate driving the truck, it is too big, too clunky and impossible for me to park so hopefully I won't have to. Jen still hasn't put snow tires on her car so we can't use it until Darrell gets home and the two of them can change out the tires.

So, lots more to do, every day will be busy but...like I always tell Chris, don't stress, it will all get done. Just one thing at a time...

I'm going to shower, get Remi out for a walk and then get the car over to the gas station (hopefully it starts, I am so afraid to try it).

HAGD everyone.

Good afternoon. How did it get to be Monday? How did it get to be afternoon? Ugh...guess that happens every December so no surprise there. Had a doctor's appointment first thing this morning. I'm doing prep for tomorrow's colonoscopy so my COWS (Crabby Old Woman Syndrome) is in full force. :cowwaving:Kind of a cute cow anyhow. After the doctor's appointment this morning, I went to the library to pick up a couple of books for the Book Challenge that I am doing in 2026. @tanteva I have decided to take on your challenge as well. Great idea!
Then I stopped at the dentist's office to re-schedule an appointment for teeth cleaning that I am postponing due to the colonoscopy. Who has ever gone to the dentist's office to schedule the appointment? Who has time for that behavior? Me...as a retired person. ;)

I don't think there is any way possible to catch up on both Sat/Sun personals, so I'm gonna take my own gosh dang advice and not stress about it. At least not stress too much.
I had to read that at least a couple of times...no stress for the faerywings...doesn't really seem possible. You must be re-wiring your brain like I am (trying to do). Good job by you!

Wow! You are really doing a great job with the challenges and games! Amazing. I need to catch up. I always need to catch up. Oh well, at least I'm consistent in that!

@vickyday love your lunches with Mark.

David had the dress rehearsal for his concert yesterday evening, so I was able to stay home and watch Die Hard which he hates. I, on the other hand, consider it an obligatory Christmas movie so I try to fit it in sometime when he's away. I always marvel at how we lived such a short time ago. There really are so many changes...it is kind of overwhelming if you think about it.
Yep, they're not little and fuzzy at all!!!! They certainly have the right of way. They get to go where they want :giggle4: Thankfully they dont come too close in summer but they do get closer then you want at times. Thankfully they do most of their moving before we are out enjoying the porch.
LOL...I'm not sure that I'd want the moose to be that close to my house. But I'd love to be able to sit and watch them.
I pick up Darrell hopefully on thursday to come home, fingers crossed that doesn't change b/c my grammas party is friday and our party is saturday so coming home thursday is the best day. I hope things go smooth with picking up Darrell and that the plans don't change. Good luck!

Have a good day all. I'll talk to you in the morning.
