Goodbye to 2018 and good riddance!
Reflecting a bit on the year is not something I want to focus on too much. For me personally, it wasn't a terrible year, we have been through much worse. But it was a lot of uphill battles and with them, the realization that some of the issues aren't going to go away. But what can you do but fight another day?

How was everyone's weekend? I never made it here yesterday. Our internet was down and then my parents come up to see the family a bit. After that, I have no idea what I did. Started to gather the Christmas decorations and put them in the dining room. Finished a scrap page.

No big plans for today either. I think that Gary is going to help me take down the tree. I am getting ready for food shopping tomorrow. The store is open and I am going there early and hopefully, everyone else in town will be sleeping. ;)
We don't do anything for NYE. Since I was a kid, it has always been a bit of a depressing holiday. It was "fun" when it was a drinking party when I was younger. Now it is just another night. The kids have Brendan and Leah coming over to watch movies.

I have a question for any of you where have progressive glasses. I got a pair a couple of weeks ago. I am slowly getting more used to them, especially for computer/desk work. But I cannot wear them while watching TV so I wear my distance only glasses. How long does it usually take to get used to these? And am I screwing up my eyes switching between contact lenses/distance/progressive glasses?

Have a fantastic day and evening, Happy New year to all of you too!!!

Kay- stay warm!!! That is brutally cold. I hope that you were able to stay in and hibernate. That is too funny about wearing gloves in the house. I wear winter hats inside all of the time and I wear fingerless gloves very often too. Everyone knows that I am always cold-- I got 4 blankets for Christmas this year. And yes, I am keeping them all.
You are awesome in getting 4 LOs in a day! Nancy has some speed scrapping competition. :typing:
Are you liking the NR book? My mom said that she liked the first one better, that this one was predictable. I am reading Michelle Obama's book and I adore her so I am biased in my enjoyment of it.

Trudy- *fingers crossed that you don't catch your Gary's cold* Hope that he is all better today and that you stay that way.

Hill House was really good and creepy-- remember how I said that I heard a creepy noise in my office area and Cait had heard it too? Yesterday W and Ray were staring at the wall on the other side in the DR. They were lying down, just looking at the wall- it was very weird! :fear:
But wow, the show was worth it!
Your visit with your brother sounds nice and of course, they liked your painting. Were you able to get outside for a bit? I miss fresh air!

Jean- that stinks that you have to go out to watch ESPN-- but it must save a lot of money to not have cable. How was dinner?
The rats are doing so good and I got to snuggle with Olivia a bit yesterday. She seems to be the smartest of the three. Cordelia is the fearless one. And Titania-- well, we think she is the most "Muffin-like." She is a bit more cautious and a little less coordinated LOL
All of them are so sweet.
Yes, kids are all done with the semester and they go back on Jan 22 (IIRC)

Kay- I am glad that you had a nice dream about Bill holding you and telling you that it was all ok. I think I would have woke up crying. But it is a better way to think of him happily.
I had my phone on speaker when I was trying to call the ins co. Scott came downstairs and heard it, thinking -- Mom is listening to some cool jazz and chilling out a bit. Then he heard it repeat, and again, and knew that I was most def. *not* chilling :pound:

Nancy- good job for Blackwood to get a shutout! Must have felt really good to cheer and win!
That is bonkers but not surprising that your DH had such a hard time getting in and out of the city for the wedding. I am sorry that your knee is hurting so much that you couldn't go.
I will have to ask Caitlyn about the age ranges on when they change to juveniles and adults. They are getting spayed in two weeks, right before they turn 4 months old so that is when I would guess that they are juvenile.

Rae- I have to say, I am jealous that your tree is put away already, I am not looking forward to doing that today.
I am sad that B is still getting triggered and that J is the target. I cannot imagine how hard it must be for her. That has to be a good sign that B remembered where the game was- maybe they will get more frequent soon.
I am glad that she is in a good, safe place.
I read The Passage- all three of the Series and really liked them. It is going to be a TV show in Jan. Are you trying to finsih it beofre that begins? Enjoy!

I see I am not the only 'early bird' this morning, Chris. Woke up at 4 but forced myself to lay there until 4:30 AM. Think I should stop going to sleep at 9 PM! Guess 7 hours of sleep is enough right now. Another factor is keeping the temp in house at 70 - even at night - due to the freezing temps then. Woke up to 20 degrees this AM... brrrr.... expecting snow by noon so need to get the bills paid and make a quick run over to the PO to make sure they go out today.

I got my New Year's Eve - looking back LO finished and posted to FB. That one took me a bit longer to do as I had to narrow down what pages to include on it. Yes, 2-4 LOs in a day is about normal for me... especially when I am on a creative roll. And some pages just seem to create themselves when the theme, kit, and photos fall right into place. Love it when that happens. Always love the 1st of the months when the new challenges are posted... get so excited to decide which ones to work on first.

Chris, think your Mom is right... the 1st book of the One was really good... #2 is a bit more predictable. I do like Nora Roberts and have a huge collection of her books. Will wait until this one comes out in PB before getting them. If the weather cooperates, I will try to pick up the Final Shadows by Kay Hooper while I am out... it is being released today. Yep... have the whole series plus most of her other books in my collection. Must admit that I think I have more books in my collection than my mom had in hers... and she had a BIG collection!

Sorry to hear your internet was down most of yesterday. Nice that you got of visit with family. Yes, taking the tree down and packing decorations away is a big job. Glad I did mine when I did. I hear you about dealing with some of the same issues that you have been dealing with this past year. Hopefully things will improve in 2019. Oh... blankets for presents - how nice and warm! My granddaughter gave me a fluffy warm throw last year for Christmas and I use it most days when I am sitting and reading.

Jean, sad that you have to go out to watch sports since you don't have cable. Your dinner sounded so good tho... Hope your sweetie liked it.

Nancy, you were so wise to know not to try to go into NYC for the wedding. Sounds like he had quite a trek there and back. Sorry your knee is bad and keeps you from doing things that you want to do. <<< hugs >>>

Rae, hope that once B settles in some of those triggers will lessen. Sounds like she is finally in a place that will be good for her in the long run.

Well, had better get the checks for the bills done then head to the PO. Need to be back home before noon as that when the snow is expected. CYL

good morning - getting ready to head to my Devils afternoon game. They play the Vancouver Canucks a team that has some young soon to be superstars and I look forward to seeing them as this team comes to town only once a season. My DH is at the gym and my son is at work. I am listening to the new Rita O'ro album and I really like it. I scrapped 5 pages yesterday so now I am through June. It felt good to get another month done. So I am half way to completion. I am excited now that football is on to the playoffs. The New York teams were bad so it will be fun to see teams that are good play.

Chris those rats are sounding fun! I like to stay up until midnight and see the new year enter. I don't know why but it makes me feel happy to see a new start! Enjoy de-decorating.

Kay you are up early! Those are cold temps. We are to have lots of rain but decent temps. So glad I do not need to stand in Time Square. Last year the temps were single digit. You are scrapping a lot too. It is so fun when the photos do come together and a page just seems to create itself. Yes I can say that if you go to bed at 9am you will wake early. LOL good luck getting everything mailed off!

Fran Happy New year to you. Hope that a year of transitions is good!

Trudy and Rae I see the World Jrs are in your area. Are you seeing an increase in people due the games? I would love to go to the games.

Trudy stay strong and don't get sick! Hope your MG is getting better. Have fun with family! Did you catch the new Outlander? Looking forward to the Bruins playing Blackhawks on New Year's Day at Notre Dame. Should be a good game.

Rae so glad to hear such good things about the facility for B. Sorry she triggers on J. No matter how old your kids are they are still your babies and it hurts. Luckily J has you to lean on.

Jean I liked it so much better when the bowl games were on the National stations not the cable ones but I guess the games go were they will get paid the most. Sad. Looks like repeat Alabama vs Clemson.

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... my goodness I slept until 8:30!! Mind you I did not go to bed until after 11pm. So far I am still cold free, DH still is coughing, and sneezing like crazy and is a big ball of mucus ewwwww!! Poor guy had to go into work this morning as the other person that works in his dept. is on holiday and he is the only one to the job today. I am going to call him soon to see how he is feeling. I don't want to get the suitcase out etc. if he is not going to be well enough to go. I won't have any problem getting rid of the tickets if we can't go, it is sold out and we have had many people ask how to get them. Keep your fingers crossed for us to be able to go. I need to pop out for a bit and then I will get back here and catch up with all of you lovely people! Talk soon!

Popping back in to say I got all my errands run. Dropped off the mail at the Post Office first thing. Was disappointed that the store didn't have the new Kay Hooper book on the shelf yet. << sigh >> But I managed to remember to get my facial cleansing clothes while I was there. Left the house with bright blue skies and just a few wispy clouds - was the same when I stopped by my mailbox 2 blocks from the house after the errands... only to have dark grey clouds covering most of the sky 5 minutes later. Temps got up to 32 but now on the downward slide... only 28 now.

Just looked out and the snow has started coming down. Just small flakes right now but I am sure it will be heavier in just a little bit.

Trudy, don't blame you for waiting to see if Gary will up to the dance... especially if you know that others would buy the tickets from you.

Nancy, so glad to hear that you are getting more of the year's pages done. Great going, gal.

Frani, nice to see you popping in. Would love to see more of you and your posts.

The senior center is open today and DH got H&S to agree to meeting even w/o their usual leader. There were six, five of them the main group before the "leader" came back to town and one new one. They had a very good time and did some very strange verses to Auld Lang Syne ("translated" by one who is from Scotland.) I did year end bills and stuff. It is raining but in the 40s, still 6 juncos and 4 goldfinch were at the feeder. We are always up after midnight, so will celebrate a little here at home when the ball drops. We have a beautiful pair of crystal champagne flutes that we'll fill from a split of bubbly. (I bought them long ago with a money gift from my parents). Tomorrow I'll fix DH's family's fare of pork roast and sauerkraut. The Moroccan chicken and carrots was good but the seasoning a little strong and very different from what we're used to. Think I'll try it again with a little variation sometime later. If I ever finish my weekly pages, there's a picture of it plated to go in the LO.

Chris, it was scary without you and not knowing why yesterday. Glad it was just bad Internet and being busy. Love the personalities of the rats showing up in your descriptions. Interesting idea to do groceries early tomorrow. Bet you're right that not many will be there then.

Kay, your timing on those errands was spectacular. Glad you're home again watching the snow and not out in it. Can't imagine doing 4 LO/day very often, so admire your efforts a lot. I too enjoy the new challenges at the beginning of each month.

Fran, hope the transitions are good to you!

Nancy, nice having another day game to attend and come home before dark I hope. Too bad the knee kept you from both the wedding and the bird count. Our CBC was on the 22nd and DH decided we were both too creaky to do it (not just me), so after 45 years we "retired" but did turn in a feeder count. Don't know what we'll do tomorrow about the Rose Bowl as DH will really want to see Ohio State play. Maybe we'll pop out to our local place that is really sort of a sports bar as they will be open. At least that one will be on the radio here.

Trudy, we're all hoping your MG is well enough for tonight, but with going to work, I'm kind of doubting it. Good thing you can sell the tickets, but sad not to get to go as you were really looking forward to it. Still, fingers crossed.

Rae, hope you have another good visit with B and a nice quiet NYE. Enjoy a little time off from work. Looking forward to your Jan. 52 Inspirations challenge.

Hugs to all for a good day and year. ::grouphug

Wanted to wish you all a happy new year ahead! I have to be quick as I need to get my challenge page done so it'll be ready to post in the morning. I have to leave soon to get J to go up to see B for the afternoon before coming home for dinner with D (he's staying home to putter and do some computer work for his job as he's on call tonight and tomorrow). Hopefully D will not get called out tonight for work and we can enjoy the last few episodes of Channel Zero The Butcher Block and then maybe a movie or two while we have some snacks and relax tonight.

I'll come back later but just in case I can't....have a great night tonight whatever you do and here's hoping 2019 is a good year ahead for all of us.

Happy new year ladies - here hoping 2019 will better for those of us who had a tough year.

its supposed to get really cold tonight - around 20 so debating whether or not to go to the theme park for their new years eve party. A s it is part of the annual membership fee there no money lost if we dont go. there will be one indoor bldg that going to have a live band but with the super cold weather that will be packed and by the time we get ther e could easily have no more entry. they are having a fireworks show too which would be nice.

I am back and must be quick again. I was hoping to catch up with all of you, but now I need to get things packed up for tonight. Hooray, DH decided that he really wants to go to the dance, so he came home early and is now having a nap so he will perhaps feel a bit more normal and enjoy the dance. We might not make it until midnight, but thats ok we would never make it that long if we stayed home either LOL. So we will be ready to go shortly and get to the In-Laws where we will be spending the night. The shuttle will pick us up at the door and drop us off when we are ready to leave. How nice is that! I really wanted to say that I hope you all have lovely evening and my wish for all of you is have the very best Year in 2019! May the New Year bring you all happiness, good health and prosperity! I look forward to starting each day of the New Year with you all, I just love  my Ofamily!! Goodbye to 2018!!
