And we are back to Monday! Did everyone have a nice weekend? I hope so. I sure as heck didn't want to get out of bed this morning. My alarm went off and then I closed my eyes and had to force them back open.

My weekend was nice. I loved having all of the kids at dinner Saturday and then a big breakfast with my parents and kids. I felt so bad for Gary. He can eat plain bagels but not cream cheese. My mom brought him a big bowl of melon but his sugar was high so he couldn't eat that. Poor guy had to watch us enjoy our food. He had coffee so he was happy with that at least. :tea:
It was good to see mom getting around a lot better. In fact, we are (tentatively) going shopping together on Friday to look for some clothes for the trip down the shore! Three weeks from tomorrow but who is counting?

After they left, I worked off some of my bagel with yard work. It was so humid outside, not really hot, but sticky. I was covered in dirt and grass clippings. I brought up more rocks and compost for the edge of the road. There might be a loss of bee population but what an increase of worms in the compost. I swear I have never seen such enormous worms. I also chatted with a garter snake, a blue jay, and a large toad. I was worried about the blue jay- she was hopping in the planter box where we have tomato plants but didn't fly away when I got close. I didn't see her at first when I was watering the plants. I had seen her earlier in the day when the pups barked at her from the bedroom window.
Birder friends- is that normal behavior?

I made a yummy pasta dinner last night with eggplant from the garden. I am still waiting for more zucchini- although Scott told me that I bought the wrong kind of fertilizer. I needed "instant" but bought long-release (can't think of the right word ATM) instead. Live and learn~ my new motto I think.

Cait and I are taking W and Ray to the vet for vaccines and I want Ray's papillomas checked out. She seems to be getting a lot more on her front leg and is licking one and it is getting irritated and larger. I have been putting the cortisone/Vicks combo on her but it isn't helping all that much. So I have that and grocery shopping prep on my list for today.

Wishing everyone a fantastic day!

Nancy- I am going to bet that Luther won't want to walk today either, Gary said it is going to have a Real Feal of 98* up here. I know you are going to be warmer than that.
We *finally* got rain last night. We had one set of storms earlier last week, but all of the other rain forecasts went bust. Oh man, that is crazy about the lawnmower overheating. Are you sure that it wasn't just your guys not wanting to mow? :p

Jean- I am glad that you had a bit of a nice morning before the heat got too bad. That is what we have right now, it is lovely with the windows open. How cool to hear the screech owl again. Gary and Caitlyn heard a fox the other night while I slept through it. I sleep with earbuds in and that blocks out a lot of noise.
The lectures must have been fascinating. With the DNA kits so popular now, it has to raise a lot of issues with family histories and all of that.
The kids (again, I call them kids and they aren't  ) go back Sept 6. They both will graduate in May and are taking all 400 level courses. Scott has some fieldwork classes and Cait is all Psych. They both are looking forward to the semester.
I was pretty pleased with how the latest LO came out and it only took me two days to finish.

Good morning - well we had a nice surprise. Zach my oldest called and said he was trying out a new shrimp marinade. He was also grilling pork chops and veggies. I brought what I was going to have as they were thawed (pork chops too and veggies) and it made for a wonderful afternoon dinner. My DH also wanted to contribute so he made a banana cream pie. Oh was it good too! Had fun and talked and just an easy Sunday afternoon. I rained for maybe 15 min but it was while we were eating so no problem and it cooled off the temps as they had been in the 90s. Yes it was hot and today is hotter and yes Chris you are correct Luther does not want to walk. He has been spending the evening outside on the deck and I bring him in when I go bed. The back had so overgrown that really the lawn mower quit. My DH does not mind being out doing it so it really was the mower LOL. I also got 4 loads of laundry done. My DH took the baskets down and up but I did the rest so that was good. Not only done but also sorted and put away. Yea that was so good. Today I am seeing my knee surgeon to decide about my left knee. There is so much I want to do in the fall but I think I must really do something about this knee.

Chris sounds like a fun weekend with the family. That is really too bad that Gary could not enjoy the food. Your outdoor work is good and glad you finally got some rain. My DH starts school too right after Labor Day.

Jean your Indian pitcher looked good. Should be interesting to see them play if they both make it to the play-offs which they should. Neither team will be intimidated by the other since each knows they can win. You will have your starting pitchers back too so that should be a real plus! How cool to hear the owl. Hope the heat is not too bad! The lectures you attended sound so fascinating. My DH and I on our trip to Florida listened to a podcast from an NPR reporter in New Hampshire who talked about a cold case involving finding 3 kids and 2 adult women and how the DNA helped solve case but more importantly it helped with the identification of the remains. It was really interesting how much these DNA data bases are helping to solve crimes

Waving to all. Have a great day

Another quick in and out this AM. Have a busy day ahead... seems like that is par for the course lately! Still working on some LOs for my designers that will be released this week. And I need to put my thinking cap on for the Sept challenge I will be hosting here. The 1st week and 3rd week of the month always seems to be the busiest for me. Good thing that I really enjoy scrapping! LOL

Had a lovely family get-together yesterday afternoon. It will be our last family gathering while Granddaugher and family are here. They will be packing up and getting ready for their move. Wonderful food and great visiting. Son-in-law was joking that he would have to get used to grilling by himself again without grandson-in-law around to help. We are all going to miss them. DD#3 and her son came back to my house afterwards so I could give them some of the plums off my tree. Found out that they will ripen within a few days after they are picked. So will be picking them a few at a time for right now.

I hear you all about the heat... temps are still in the mid-to-high 90's by afternoon. No rain for the pass several days so nighttime temps are staying high, too. Running about 10 degrees above normal.

Chris, I love your latest LO... so adorable! Glad you got it finished. LOL over the type of fertilizer and which one you should have used. That sounds like me... So sorry that Gary couldn't have the melon due to high blood sugar - know what it is like as my DH had to watch his, too.

Nancy, hate to hear that your other knee might need surgery, too. Wow... surprised that you had the pool to yourself the other day for your swim/PT. Guess it is because school has started. The outdoor pools here all close about 10 days ago. Only the indoor one is opened now and it has school classes scheduled so only available for limited hours now.

Gotta run and get started on my 'to do' list... after I get dressed. Hope you all have a good day.

It's pretty nice today but yesterday we had some big storms that caused damage, but not around us thankfully. This morning did the usual bills and DH went to H&S. They're playing for a volunteer appreciation lunch at the senior center tomorrow, so had practicing to do for that. Nothing exciting happening otherwise I guess.

Chris, they will always be "the kids" no matter how old. Sounds like an exciting school year for each of them, but maybe challenging too. You had some good outside work done and the eggplant pasta sounds interesting. I used to like eggplant but for some reason it doesn't especially appeal anymore. Of course I think they are beautiful objects. Your mom's improvement must be pleasing both of you and so making everyone's life easier. Sorry for Gary with the food issues but know it has to be that way. Sigh.

Kay, what a lot of heat! Better you than me. :becky: Fun family gathering but sad the DGD is moving away. Still you can count yourself fortunate to have family nearby. Being busy with scrapping actually sounds pretty nice.

Nancy, bet it's too hot/humid for Luther again. Hope you are having a nice day though. Thanks for the comments on the Indians' pitcher. Clevinger has really come through this season. They're still in NY playing the Mets tomorrow.

Felis, hope you're happier now with the week unplugged over! Like your week 33 LO for it.

Hello girls, I'm back!
Not as it happens something that deserve to be shared, but I missed our talks. I'm sorry but I'm still not check previous week's posts! It's just so difficult for me to organize my time now when it is dark early. The days are still too hot, and then all work is placed in one very short evening.
Yesterday dad was out of the town so we made ladies night and was reckless to have pancakes for dinner :D . See my life is really exciting  !

Chris, I can't wait to see your yard project finished! It's sounds very good! So happy about your mom's improvement! I bet that Gary still enjoy a lot of these family meetings, even without the food! But eggplant pasta is something that really deserve attention, one of my favorite! This year you had lot of success with your garden! I'm happy that wild friends didn't eat everything :) . Oh and I saw the article about the Lime you are give link, I'll check it later as I'm still confused and curious. Thank you for share it!

Nancy, oh, my lawn looks awful it's so yellow (I don't watering grass as we don't eat it so not make sense to me) and I think it's only two mowing left this year, so it's my plan for the weekend. I'm curious to hear what you decided about your knee! I can understand why you don't want to miss the autumn, it's the best part of the year! But won't it be more unpleasant to recovery at winter? You will keep your swim therapy or not?!

Kay, so good that plums are ready for pickup and the family will be able to use them, as you was hoping! Your family day sounds really cute and fun!

Jean , I'm not much sure what is appreciation lunch, but it's sounds fun! Are you be there to listen? :drum:
