Oscraps

Daily Ooo's: May5/6: Weekend Edition

Wish I could join you Maureen!!! I really could use a day at the beach. Enjoy!!

And I am glad you packed your sunblock. As a note, not all women in NJ tan like that Nutley, NJ mom whose photo has been zipping around the interwebs. Between Snooki and that "Leatherface" y'all must think we Jersey Girls are kooks!. Not true! I like a bot of color but nothing like either of them.

Myhouse is so peaceful ATM, everyone is sleeping except me. Even Catzilla is quiet. I have a quiet day today, just a few things to do around the house, then I want to do my nails for the party tomorrow. It is my Christopher's First B-day party. I can't wait to see him, even if I do have to share with 55 other people. See why I was so glad to get to see him last week? I am also totally excited to see my BFF, she is also invited and I haven't seen her in over a month.

Thank you again for all of your support yesterday. As you know and get to experience, I try to keep some crap inside, but sometimes it all needs to spew out.
I have to say how proud I am of Caitlyn. My goodness that girl amazes me. She came home from school yesterday and told me now that she had time to think about it, and let it sink in, she is ok with whatever happens. She and her BFF talked a nd made a pact to stay BFF's. She feels more positive about going to the town HS and is ready to make the best of it. Best of all, she refuses to give up learning and playing with make-up and hair color. (That had me worried-- that being hurt would turn her off of something that she loves to do).

And to think she did all of that on her own, at 13. I know some adults (including me!) that can't deal that well with life.

I also spoke with the Admissions Counselor at PCTI and it made me feel better about the "rejection" on a mom-level. There were 157 applicants and only 25 spots. They sent out the acceptance letters to those 25 kids and will see who accepts the spot. If someone doesn't accept then the next on the wait-list gets a spot, and so on. So depending where she is on the list, she still has a chance. The "bad" news is that the Cosmo School is strictly a 4 year program, so if she doesn't get in this year, that is it. Some of the other Schools in PCTI allow for 10th grade enrollment and I was hoping that maybe next year she would have a shot. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Off to get some more :tea:

be back soon!

xoxo

Did i ever tell you how much I adore coffee?

Oh Phyllis.... what horrible and scary news. Two close friends.... tons of good thoughts to both of them and to you. 2 years ago I had a biopsy done on suspicious "stuff" on my breast and thankfully it turned out to be calcifications that just need to monitored. (Which reminds me, I have to find out when I need to get back in for my mammo- it has to be overdue... :( )
Hopefully treatments will work for your other friend and she can beat it.
Hope you got all of your emotions out on those weeds- that always works for me. (((hugs)))

Yup, Maureen, that is how I try to usually view life- everyone had their s***. some people just hide it better than others.
I am so on the same page as you with the homeschooling. It is not right for her, and I would refuse to do it. I told her how I was so shy in HS and people thought I was stuck up. Whne I went to college, I knew that either I was going to stay shy and have no friends or I was going to have to pretend I wasn't shy. And it was hard but it worked out. When she came home from school yesterday, she told me that she thought about what I had said and she talked to 2 girls and has tentative plans to hang out with them next week. yay!

Kristy- thanks hon! And how is all of your fam feeling? All healthy?

Trudy- how are you and your SIL holding up? Any news? ITA with the waiting to be alone to slip away, I hear that so often.
I love my O-fam and would love to meet up with all of you wise woman!!

Yup-- me to Eva. I had a bad administrative experience at my first university where I ended up having to drop out in my senior year. Transferred to a college at home, only to meet my friend who introduced me to Gary :D
I definitely live by the one door closes, another opens motto. :)
Sooo happy to hear that life is good for you!!! you deserve that!

M- isn't her tag too cute!?

The book I am reading right now is Mercy, on older Jodie Picoult where a husband kills his cancer-ridden wife at her request. I don't know if I could do that for someone I love but I am selfish enough to want someone to be able to do that for me.

To my non-US friends, I was reading a news artcile that in some Eu countries, there is an option for euthanasia, is that true?

Good Saturday Morning everyone!! Looks like it might be a sunny day today! I slept in today, a very rare occurrence for me!! But I was worn out from work yesterday...soooo busy!! When I got home I had a message on the phone that my BIL has miraculously woken up!!! He is talking and sitting up OMG!!! Can you believe it??? The doctors are dumbfounded and cannot believe that he did not pass on Tuesday nite. Poor Mike (BIL) does not remember anything about being at the hospital. They have moved him and his wife to a larger room at Palliative Care and expect that now that it will just take longer for him to go. He knows he is dying and that has made him so very sad. But when I talked to SIL she was thrilled to be able to say a few more things to him. He has been sleeping since yesterday afternoon and no visitors allowed, he does not want them. Not sure if this happens to many cancer patients or not? We can hardly believe it!

Chris - Can you come and help me out in the garden today? I have so many weeds and hubby does not do weeds LOL So happy for Cait that she is accepting things like such a grown up, well probably better than most grown ups!! Everything happens for a reason right!!

Maureen - Enjoy your beach weekend!! I sure wish I could join you!

Have a fun weekend everyone!

Trudy- that is so bittersweet about your BIL. But it has to be a good thing for your family to be able to say to him directly how much they love him.

I'll be right up- weeds are my therapy!!! xoxo

morning all, home from the beach, started the travel day in rain, ended in hot humid sun. Hot tub is on- cooking in the chemicals and we plan to view the super moon from it tonight! We stopped on the way home yesterday so today was much less travel and we stopped and bought groceries. Our bags are all unpacked and laundry nearly caught up. I should be out gardening, but instead I am enjoying a glass of vacation - firefly sweet tea vodka with lemonade. We bought artwork in Charleston, and I bought a small ladle and a coffee mug with a beach chair on it. It was a wonderful relaxing time. Do I have to go back to work on Monday? I need to go hit the shops for iNSD!

Hello ladies! I am exhausted! Sydney had 82 degrees and 74% humidity. By the time we got home, I crashed! Now I'm thinking an evening of scrapping could be just what the doctor ordered!

So sorry that Cait didn't get accepted to the program that she wanted but so glad that she saw it as an opportunity! Good job Mom!

Trudy, I am sorry for what your family is going through. But glad that you got to sleep in.

Phylis, saying a prayer for your friends. Such pain for so many people!

Maureen, I hope that your day at the beach is splendid!

Laurie, glad that you made it back home safe and sound. Sorry about work on Monday.

well.about time i checked in! Saturday's almost over. my SIL and her Husband (the one who caused all the trouble at Christmas this year with the tree-chopping incident) came over and ended up staying for hours. it actually was a nice visit. no trees were chopped.... i got my veggies planted. hopefully i'll actually get some zucchini this year. if not, i am SO finished with Burpee Zucchini seeds! i also made an EXCELLENT almond flour dessert thingy with coconut oil and sugar free raspberry spread and walnuts and stuff. it tasted almost like a REAL DESSERT!! i didn't feel like eating dinner tonight, so i had a piece of that stuff and three glasses of champagne. worked for me! :partywine

Chris, Cait is a daughter to be proud of. what a distance she travelled in so short a time. i think she's going to be just fine.

Trudy, unbelievable about your BIL!! although i have heard about a rally before The End happening. maybe it's for everyone to say what they need to say. why does life have to be so doggone SAD?

Maureen, you are on the go more than anyone i know!! enjoyed the beach? hope your day was a beautiful as ours was. about 78 degrees, sun, gentle breeze. perfect.

Laurie, i think you like that vodka tea stuff! hoist a glass to The Big Moon tonight!

Happy Big Moon Night!

phylis

Oh Phylis....that sounds so yummy!!!! Glad that you had a good visit with SIL. And hope you get a good crop of zuchini!

my tomatoes survived while I was gone, I am going to plant strawberries this week- you know the 2 that are really 20 that I bought before vacation!

Happy Sunday! I am so excited to go to the b-day party! I even did my nails yesterday. Heck, I might even tweeze my eyebrows. No one is going to recognize me. bwuhahaha!!!

Gary isn't coming with us. Not surprised. It sucks but in a way I am relieved in that I know I can stay as long as I want and not have to worry about him getting sick and needing to rush home. We'll be having our families up to our house the next 2 weekends so he can socialize then. I really wish there was something that could help his stomach. Its so hard on him, on all of us. :(

Laurie- great news about your tomatoes, have fun with your strawberries! I wanted to get some seeds down this past week, it has been cool and rainy almost every day. Maybe tomorrow I can get some gardening done.

Phyllis- This faery tree hugger is very happy that no trees were chopped! Can you link me up with that recipe, sounds really good!!!
And your dinner--- also sounds really good, who needs food when you have champagne and a good dessert!!!
Thanks for the support of Caitlyn, as much as we drive each otyher crazy, she is a really good kid.

Linda S- hot and sweaty day! Did you get any scrapping done?

When I told her that all of you here were thinking of her, I know it made her really happy too

Laurie- I think you made the perfect choice, to sit back and enjoy that
glass of vacation! mmm mmmmm!

Have a fab fab fab day!!!!

Happy Sunday!! Did everyone get to see the super moon last night?? I tried to get some shots very early this morning,:photo: but not that experienced with my camera and night shots so I hope I got at least one good one. Was sad that the moon never made it far enough over the one side of my house to shine on the lake, it would have made such a beautiful photo! It only does that in the winter months  Not much planned for today, some gardening and :washing: will try to get hubby out for a walk today too.

Chris - Happy Birthday to your little cutie pie!! Hope you get to have some snuggle time with him!

Laurie - Glad that your tomatoes survived and hopefully your strawberries produce big juicy fruit!! Did you enjoy your view of the super moon from your hot tub??

Phylis - Saying a prayer to the garden gods that your zucchinis produce this year!!
Your dinner sounds perfect to me!! Its what I would have had too if I didn't have my MG to cook for! Still no word about BIL & SIL, guess they are just spending every precious moment together. Yes, why does life have to be so darn sad :hurt:

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend!

gardening and ughhh bill pay for me today, another day of being outside- I think what I am going to dislike the most about work-is not seeing outside- guess I will have to make it a point to walk around the building at lunch, and get outside after work.

Hi all ! just a quick hello to say I'm back from my US trip :) and still a little jet lagged too ...
We had a great time, althoug the weather was not that great for the last couple of days but we still enjoyed it. And it was definitely too short !!!
