Helloooo!! Happy weekend!
The June kickoff off weekend is beginning with rain! yay! /s

It is fine, all good. :nod1: I didn't have any plans today and I need a day to sit on my butt, not work in the garden. And you'll know where I would be if it were sunny.

I need a day of Dirt Therapy though, after yesterday's ordeal. Two hours of trying on dresses really did a number on my mental state. I don't think I had seen myself in a full-length mirror since I had my fittings for my mother-of-the-bride dress last summer. Let me tell ya, it wasn't pretty. Lots of negative talk going through my head, over and over. Caitlyn was so supportive, she gets me, but I overwhelm myself.

We planned to meet my mom for lunch but she isn't feeling well yet. We visited with her and my dad for a few minutes and then left. He didn't look good either. It sucks.

However, I have exciting news to share! I am going to be a grandma again!!

Haha! I know you are all wondering if I lost my mind completely  but I am going to be a Rat Grandma on Tuesday ♥ Caitlyn is adopting three new rat babies. She found more lumps on Pigeon last week and now that she is closer to 2 yo, Caitlyn won't have her go through another surgery unless it is a quality of life issue. Mouse is still lump-free and no obvious health issues so Cait is looking forward to making sure they have "siblings" when one passes. She looked at the Rat Rescue site where she had adopted from before and there were three baby girls ready to go to their new home. Cait applied, got approved, and is picking these babies up on Tuesday. The only hitch - and it is minor- is that she and Tom will be away from Friday to Tuesday for their camping trip. I'll be doing the handling and socializing them while she is away. I know that she would prefer to do that, but she trusts me. And these girls are already much bigger and older than Mouse and Pig were when she got them. They were scary-young, 4 weeks old IIRC. These girls are 9 weeks, closer to 10 when they get here.

Do you have plans this weekend? I have a lot of end-of-the-month Oscraps work to do. I also want to make sure I am ready for work on Tuesday. Must do my PT exercises. Darn foot is making me aggravated. Tomorrow I am going to pop into TJ Maxx to look for a dress. If I have to buy a dress that I don't like, I might as well not spend a lot of money on it.

Have a fab day and I hope that the rain is passing you by

xo

@bcgal00 Enjoy the sunshine! I bet Remi was thrilled to be out and about with you :)

@Terri M How much rain did you get? I hope that it didn't cause any trouble for the bridges. We got almost 2" overnight and might get another 1" or so before this system moves out.
Hi, Friend of the Mall Haters Club! :p
Is David trying to dig out the forsythia or just get it back in place as much as possible? I love that it blooms in early spring but they do get out of control easily. Before I learned more about native plants, I transplanted some branches to another part of the yard. :oops2:
I love that you are incorporating natives in your yard. I have been trying to rip out some of the invasives/aggressive spreaders but it feels like a losing battle. YKWIM?
I am a huge fan of run-on sentences. In case you couldn't tell. hahaha!

@AK_Tracy Oh sweetheart--- whatcha doin' to yourself? I hope that you paced yourself better yesterday than the day

Thank you all so much for the anniversary wishes!

@vickyday have a fantastic weekend and hope that Ilene was able to come for dinner too.

@JeanneMN *gentle hugs to you* It is great hearing that you are getting around a little better, don't overdo it and let yourself rest when you need it.
What kind of flowers are they? Are they lady slippers? So pretty!

You and your Twin better be taking care of yourselves! Don't make me walk/limp over to yell at ya both! :rollingpin1:

:grouphugyay:

Good morning ladies. I'm off to a euchre tournie today so won't be home til dinner tonight.

@faerywings Enjoy the new babies when they arrive.

Remi is whining at the door so looks like I don't have much time to chit chat right now LOL.

We are in Lanexa VA now...nice drive yesterday for 3 1/2 hours towing!!! We left a little early since the forecast had rain, wing and tornado's-that would not be fun when on the road...or ever for that matter. Anyway most of 95 was good but there are spots that need repairs.
2 years ago we stopped here at this camp/marina to camp we enjoyed the owners so much we stopped on our way back to florida. We made friends with the owners, went to Williamsburg with them then went out wine tasting. We kept in touch and of course had to come back this year. We had plans to go out on their day off Tuesday.

@faerywings Happy Anniversary wishing you many more happy years together.
Congrats on being Rat Grandma--so glad you are happy. They give me the chills like snakes do.
Dirt therapy is great! I miss gardening when we travel but I will be helping Son in CT and his NY since that house is ready for landscaping now. I agree with mall shopping---hate it. I used to make all my clothes so I wouldn't have to go to mall but I also managed a fabric store so it was good advertising to wear clothes I made, I encouraged the girls that worked for me to sew also. Good luck at TJ Maxx. Can I join the Mall Haters Club with you and @Terri M
Sorry you are having so much trouble with your ankle. Pain is your body telling you to take it easy...spoken by one who does not hear her body speaking either!!!!

FYI Forcythia lovers there is a dwarf form that only gets 3' tall, I had both kinds in CT so you might try to find that it is very suitable for in garden planting while taller one is great border plant.

Wishing both the the Surgery Twins "get well" Speedy recoveries to both of you.

Off to do some adventuring for lunch out.

Good Morning Ladies!
Its sunny, for a second. We have clouds moving in but after two days of drizzle its not currently raining!

:hug1: I totally feel this. I'm sorry it was a rough day! The voices in your head are lying to you! you are beautiful Chris! And I bet some of those dresses looked stunning on you. I hope TJMaxx has an inexpensive dress you like.

You and your Twin better be taking care of yourselves! Don't make me walk/limp over to yell at ya both! :rollingpin1:
Dare ya! Come get me! :giggle4: I Triple Dog Dare You!!!! :floorlaugh:
Can I join the Mall Haters Club with you and @Terri M
Yep, solid group of 4 in this Mall Haters Club (so far).

Not much going on. Trying to get up and move as needed without over doing. Yep, over doing. But not really in a bad way. I'm not doing until pain but that first twinge you gotta push through or it gets worse. I sit at the second twinge. Half way through folding laundry I had to sit. I'm not over pushing but I am making sure I dont baby self to the paint of being super sensitive later. My son did that with his first foot surgery and its still 5 years later over sensitive to anything touching it. I refuse to allow self to let that happen. But I am being careful. I ask for coffee rather than jumping up to get more. Which I need to do.
Have a wonderful day!! Stay dry.

It's a beautiful sunny day. Got in a little bike riding. Sat on the deck and read for a while. Ate a package of microwave popcorn for lunch. Talked with mom on the phone, as the independent living place where she lives tries to make plans in case they have to evacuate this hurricane season.

@Terri M How much rain did you get? I hope that it didn't cause any trouble for the bridges.
We had about 7 drops of rain. It was nuts -- all day long the weather app was notifying us. We had a flood watch, and severe thunderstorm warning, and tornado watch. But when you look at the radar, every time a storm headed east toward us, it dissipated over the mountains. We mostly had a sunny day. No complaints, as we had plenty of rain this past week.

Is David trying to dig out the forsythia or just get it back in place as much as possible?
He just tries to prune it back every year after its exuberant springtime growth. We didn't plant it, it was there when we moved in, but it does take up a good amount of space in the front garden, which we'd have to replace with something else if we took it out, plus, yeah, it is a sign of spring that never fails.

Not too much planned for this weekend. May try for a visit at a winery tomorrow afternoon, it's supposed to be another nice day. We'll look for someone who has music.

Good morning and Happy June!! I am going to complain about he weather for one second and that will be it. It is cold. 50° and it is cold.
There.
I'm done.

It rained a lot yesterday and I'm glad that Gary and I moved the plant babies underneath the overhang of the house. They would have drowned in their buckets. As it is, more than a few are not looking great since the squirrels have been digging in them. We put all new soil in them so I know there weren't any seeds or peanuts leftover from the Fall. Leave my seedlings alone, squirrels!
The squirrels have officially gotten used to the spicy bird seed. Between them and the mourning doves, the feeder is getting cleaned out in a day. Gary has been refilling it but I told him to wait a day in between. He feels bad when the birds look at the feeder and it is empty. LOL
I asked for a screen attachment for the feeder for my birthday. Maybe that will help with the mourning doves, those bossy drama birds yelling and blocking the feeder from the littler ones. One of the woodpeckers gets *mad* and starts drumming on the roof next to them.

I don't know how much I actually got accomplished yesterday but I spent some time getting ideas for summer camp. I have a ton of loose threads everywhere and I need to put them into a cohesive plan at some point soon. The three-day theme is :
Things that Live in the Water: Salamanders, Insects, Frogs!
Things that Grow in the Dirt: Plants, Flowers, Trees!
Things that Thrive in the Forest: Birds, Squirrels, Deer!
But I am refining and adding to the topics in each as I go. I saved that cool owl mask that Debby shared, which will be amazing for the Forest Day. If anyone has other cool ideas, I'd love to hear them.

It is sunny out today but 100% muddy. I'd love to get an hour or so in the yard while making sure that my *%$#&* doesn't act up. I am at Weis for three days this week and cleaning for my friend as well. Must pace myself.

Enjoy your day!!!

@bcgal00 How was the tournie? Bring home big bucks?

@BoatLady I imagine you keep a careful eye on the weather as you travel. That is so neat that you made friends with the campground owners. Have fun with them on Tuesday!
I am hedging on going to TJ today. The store is a small one and you know how the aisles are impossible to maneuver through on a good day? Not sure I want to go on a Sunday when it is more crowded. Or am I making excuses? (Both! My money is on both!)

@AK_Tracy TY for the kind words but you mostly see me as a Bitmoji avatar :floorlaugh:
I hope that you are able to find that sweet spot of not doing too much but moving enough so you don't feel worse. And that goes to your Twin, too.
I feel guilty about complaining about my foot nonstop when you both have it so much harder them me.
Dare ya! Come get me! :giggle4: I Triple Dog Dare You!!!! :floorlaugh:
You are going to be surprised at this (no you aren't LOL!) but my kids figured out early that if they dared me to something, I would. Part of me wants to get out my walking stick and start hobbling your way! Triple Dog Dare... pfft!
:giggle4:

@Terri M That must have been a relief that you didn't get the heavy rains that were predicted. My BFF texted me yesterday that they had some crazy supercell or something that came through and took out the outdoor TV and fireplace table on their deck. It was a year ago that a storm brought down their pergola at Caitlyn's bridal shower. She said her deck is jinxed. :(
Same here, the forsythia was here when we moved in and I love seeing it from my kitchen window. At least the chipmunks have a nice shelter and habitat underneath it. But it gets big!
Hope you enjoyed your day and found some live music and wine to sip :)

squirrel proof feeder @faerywings I hope this link works. It might solve your squirrel problem. Yankee flipper style but much better price. I will order one when I get home as I have pesky squirrels and raccoons. I have so many squirrels that I go to my feeders every day and put a 1/2 cup in each because the critters will completely empty them everyday so when I fill them this way the birds get a daily dose. When you make owl masks send me a pic I would love to see them.

Yesterday we went to Williamsburg to a brewery for lunch then a quick stop at HD for some pipe...Jay is going to make a tool to assist opening valves on trailer. Then when we came back we went over to the deck to hang out with the owners and some other campers. When the rental boat would return we went to help .... cannot get away from boat stuff. I was a fun afternoon. Today I will make a few reservations for our trip after our son's place in NY and visiting friends in VT then back to Florida Tonight we are taking the owners to dinner as their anniversary was yesterday. Talked to dear daughter yesterday..they are making a bid on a beautiful ranch style home, I would love to see them out of their 3 story home with all those stairs...she has joint problems like I do. I have my fingers crossed for her.

@AK_Tracy so the big worry you must have is opening the incisions ---so take it easy that would not be fun. These sound bigger than your last ones. Heal well . Why is it all of us push and push ourselves. My hubby strained his heal... he cannot do this or that. I need another hip and 2 knees but still manage to do everything. Sorry about the whine!

Got to run---have a good Sunday everyone.

Good Morning!!

Its drizzling again. Its at least a soft rainfall so its watering the ground not flooding it but after yesterday ........ well it might be good its raining. Sat outside in the sunshine for a hour. or so and it was total bliss. The good part of rain means I will be sitting on the couch not the zero g chairs outside.

I asked for a screen attachment for the feeder for my birthday. Maybe that will help with the mourning doves, those bossy drama birds yelling and blocking the feeder from the littler ones. One of the woodpeckers gets *mad* and starts drumming on the roof next to them.
Bird drama. Its so funny!!!! Animals sometimes make the best drama to watch and its free.

@AK_Tracy TY for the kind words but you mostly see me as a Bitmoji avatar :floorlaugh:
Ummm NO, I see you in photos you post of the wedding and other times. Dont argue with me, I am right. You are beautiful. :heartpumppink:
I feel guilty about complaining about my foot nonstop when you both have it so much harder them me.
Okay, like I tell people, pain is pain. Yours is NO LESS just because someone else's sounds worse. Its not a competition of who is worse, its pain and we all deal with it and it shouldn't ever be competition. So you are not complaining, youre explaining what's going on with you. I'm pretty sure youre pain threshold is higher than normal so when you do talk about it, it would probably put someone else in the ground cause their level is less. So NO do NOT feel bad talking about all you went through and still do with your foot. I have cringed at times when you talk about your foot because it sounds super painful to me and I cant imagine that pain. One of my worse fears is a broken bone, especially in the feet, as I dont know if I could survive the pain and trauma.

The open incisions (6 with straws and about 12 without) are too much of a concern, just annoying. I have to wash them daily in the shower. The straw ones are bigger since they were held open and one is still oozing a bit and two are almost closed over. The rest are all scabbed over and closed up. Now its mostly just the skin reattaching and the bruising going away. I got some spectacular bruises this time around.

Today is another bonding with couch day. I'm in that bored out of my mind state. Where you mindlessly spend money online that you dont have to spend. So far I have resisted but I cant tell you how much searching I have done and ooooooo need that oooooooo click then delete. Next surgery (back of thigh and butt) is booked and travel plans made. Should hear in a month if the arms are covered. We've made three appeals to insurance so far. So frustrating to have a random person (who might not be medical trained) to tell me yeah its not that bad we dont think you need surgery.

Oh and Debby, the men, they know to let their bodies heal. That's why they do that. Women, we are told by society to do it all and never stop. (We listen so well) So we think we cant rest. If we did, and could mentally stop worrying, we would be unstoppable. I always wonder if men had c-sections, would they be expected to be up immediately and care for a baby and the family and do it all? Or would it be more of a rest and recover from major surgery. Yep, woman are a force to be reckoned with and if we rested and healed.........we would take over the world :giggle4:
Okay, now on that thought, off to ask for more coffee. Must get caffeinated so I can sit and do nothing

Good morning ladies. We had fun at the euchre tournie yesterday but didn't win any money. That's ok b/c we never expect to so it's just a fun day to enjoy with friends.

Today I'm baking GF banana bread. I've got salmon airfried for dinner, just need to add it to a big salad. I saw an ad for Odd Bunch veggie/fruit delivery and just ordered my first box that'll come next Sat. It's fresh produce that is slightly mishappen so it's discounted. It'll be interesting to see what I get. Between the meal delivery (mostly for D) and the veggie/fruit box for me, I won't need to do much grocery shopping which I find very appealing.

I feel confident that I'll be ready for my first artisan market this coming wkend. Last night I put biz tags together and started bagging the products, labeling for each stand to put them on. So far, things are going smoothly.

@faerywings no money won but lots of fun anyways. Your summer teaching plan sounds interesting. The kids are lucky to have you!

@AK_Tracy We like the bird drama too :) We've been watching mom and pop robin patroling the yard and walkway behind us. They are now starting to feed in the nest under our porch. Can't wait to see the little heads pop up.

I need coffee and then will get Remi out for her walk. Then jewelry design for the afternoon aside from photo editing some pics for Jen that she wants to frame and hang in her place.

HAGD everyone.

Its always fun when those little heads pop up. We had a nest last year that for whatever reason, they build in the tall grasses on the ground. Was so strange. We had to keep the dogs away which was hard as the bird chose the dogs favorite spot to play. But oh we watched daily for those little heads to pop. Was thankful when they finally flew of though as the dogs were hard to keep away. Bird dogs, birds nest in their space, yeah hopefully that bird builds in a tree this year!
