My Oh MY!! I cannot wait until it is time to get Cait out of bed, pack the car and get out of dodge!

So do you all think I have enough stress? get this, we had been having septic trouble. Its an issue b/c of all the abx we take, throws off the balance in the system. We had a pump out scheduled for yesterday, and then we add special chemicals and then we go away and don't use the system for a few days.

Guys come to pump the tank, and there is a blockage in a drain. Call in the next guy, tries to snake the pipe.. not working. There must be a cracked drain pipe somewhere.
This is going to cost lots and LOTS of money that we just do not have. But you can't not have a working septic. PU!

To save thousands of $$, Gary, Scott and I are going to try to get the digging up the yard started next week. (Oh that is gonna be FUN!!!) if it is close enough and easy enough to fix, we are going to try and do most of it ourselves. If it is more complicated that that.. well, I hope the companies take Credit Cards.

But- as always, I can talk to my college roomie and get a Reality Slap. Her kids have all been sick. (2 have Cystic Fibrosis, the little one has other health issues). The son now has Tourettes and has been teased horribly and is now out of school. The baby has a mild case of spina bifida but needs to have full vertebra surgery/body cast when she turns 4. The older DD got her wish from Make a Wish- to cheer with the Notre Dame cheerleaders in Sept.
So my BFF is telling me all of this and I am sobbing into the phone- how the heck can I complain with all of that going on?
Oh- and she and her DH might be getting pink slips b/c the school that they both teach at is getting closed.

And get this-- she is still so happy, and at peace. I'd have jumped off the nearest building. (Not really but YKWIM)

So now that I have worked myself into a tizz.....

What is everyone up to this weekend?

Hope that you all have a very relaxing time! We all deserve that, right??

Chris- I so hear you on septic troubles- we did our own in NY, in OH it is a totally different system with a revolving motor in the tank- always giving us problems. I am up, one boy is home, the other is on his way, coffee is done ready to get a cuppa, then wait for the fun to begin with the flooring.
 
I hear ya Chris.....If that were me (talking about your BFF), I would not be seeing the world through those same eyes!!! But WOW.....she is a very admirable person for keeping her head up and not seeing all the bad.

I am sorry about the septic sweetie!!! I know it can be a pain!!! I hope you guys are able to do most of it and it won't cost a trillion dollars!!! I suppose the good thing you can look at from this is that Scott and Gary are going to be spending lots of "quality" time together. :)

Well.....I am hoping to spend our long weekend in a quiet way...things have been so messy and upside down for weeks, and I am looking forward to a peaceful weekend....mostly just Mike and I....grilling, sipping a nice glass of.....well whatever suits me at the moment each day :mrgreen: (I did buy some margarita mix at the store the other day :mrgreen: )

The only real thing that I have planned is taking the kids pictures on Sunday morning (I am taking them to the park and doing some creative things).

I have cleaned the kitchen and cleaned out my pantry this morning and now I am enjoying a cup of coffee...

Laurie...I hope you have a fabulous visit with your boys!!!!! and enjoy your cuppa too!!!!

I went in the basement to get an extra litter box out so the cats don't pee on my carpet (hahahaha!) and my well pump is leaking everywhere!

I called gary, since no water is coming in at the moment- we decided to F-it! It can wait.

Linda, can't wait to see your creative shots. We were actually going to have family pictures taken this morning but it's raining here. So we've postponed until tomorrow afternoon. We'll see how that goes.

I haven't had my camera out in ages. I think I need a new lens for inspiration. Maybe it's time for that 50 mm prime. :-)
 
I've been weeding, the carpet just got pulled from the stairs to the basement, and they are going to move onto platon - a plastic product with dimples that goes dimple side down to let the concrete breathe under the laminate flooring!
 
Good morning everyone. I am late to the party this morning...er...afternoon. I slept so much yesterday and then I couldn't sleep last night. Derek knew I had a killer headache and let me sleep in. He is so good to me on the weekends.

Today we are going to a friend's for a BBQ. It should be fun. We are making homemade icecream to take with us. I tried to make some last night but it didn't freeze. :( Derek went to get the actual ingredients and some rock salt for it. It should be fun. The friend we are going to see today is a friend of ours from Italy. I love that the Army is so small. She lives a mile from us. Her and her husband have been coming over for Idol night all season but we haven't been over there yet. So, it should be fun.

Chris - That is the same answer I would have today. Go enjoy yourself and relax and don't think about your house while you are gone. Read some books and get drunk. You are much better than me. I would still complain even knowing someone was in a worse situation than me. You rock.

Nana - I think you and Mike need to tell everyone you guys are taking a trip and then just stay at home and chill out without anyone running over or kids or anything. I hope you have a relaxing weekend. Hugs!!

LindaS - Go get some photos lady!! and that lens. I have been bad about photos lately too. It is pretty bad. Hugs for you!!

Laurie - I am hoping everything goes smoothly and as planned for the flooring extravaganza weekend. Have fun with your boys.

Clara....have fun at the BBQ...and YUMMMMMM homemade icecream!!!! and so cool about your friend from Italy....it is a rather small world period!!! and so far....no interruptions around here....We have been cleaning out some stuff today.....I am about to wrap that up and fix me a cooooool drink :mrgreen:
 
Clara- thanks- of course things never go smoothly- but oldest DS is an engineer in DC, and he also has done run throughs in construction for upscale condo's, so he has lots of great ideas- looking at perhaps placing an LED chandelier in the stairwell going down stairs- instead of an ugly lamp plugged into the wall- which I will no longer be able to change the bulb in as the ledge for the paneling cap is gone, as is the paneling!

i here....just really tired....been a long weekend so far....had company friday evening....we stayed up til 1am....they crashed here left around 10am on saturday....then we ended up being able to get a burn permit for the day...and burned our big pile of junk LOL....so we spent a few hours doing that...boy was it HOT!! haha....it was already in the upper 70's outside...so to add the fire heat from that UGH....we are beat....i also have an extra kid til the 4th when i'll bring him home....
 
kristy you are making me tired. Hope you get to enjoy some down time this weekend. I am going to go back outside to the garden of weedin- it was mid 80's at 10am- I am not used to it getting hot so soon. Not complaining. I have all my birdfeeders set up and am enjoying the shows I keep getting from the birds! I can only have them in the backyard as mr. gorgeous feels in the front leads to too much bird poop on his vehicle! The basement is coming along. Everyone got the gift of knee pads today- that has helped significantly. Almost 2 rooms done. I posted some pics on facebook.
 
Floor is done, now we have ceilings to replace and walls to replace- but I am so happy the floor is done.
 
woohoo for getting the floor done! yeah today has been a lazy one thats for sure...took the kiddos to the park for a bit...boy its muggy out tho!! UGH!
