First weekend in May and we have some fabulous weather coming up. Yesterday it was cold and cloudy, but today it is supposed to get close to 70*

yesterday seemed like a mixed bag for me. I was only able to get one b-day card done, the one for my nephew today. Creativity is just so low in me, and the brain seems to be working through sludge. But I did get some good news, and in the medical field no less!:jaw:
Don't get too excited, it wasn't anything to do with my physical health, but about a hospital bill.
I kept getting billed for $9000 for my surgery in January. I got yet another bill in yesterday, and I figured it was time to suck it up and call my insurance co to find out what was up. She said that they paid the hospital the contracted rate and to let them know I had zero patient liability. I call the hospital and they said to disregard the bill. I was planning on disregarding it one way or the other, but it was nice to know that I won't be fielding Collection Agency notices.
I was going to call Healthcare Marketplace to see what was up about the Appeal for subsidies for Scott and me. But I didn't want to push my luck- I had 2 successful phone calls, there was no way the third was going to go as well. One day next week, I will deal with that.

Busy day today, as we are all off to the pet adoption in town, then to my brother's house for the party. I wish I knew what to do with my hair. It is so ratty. I have been keeping it in a bun or a braid since I don't really go anywhere. I wish I had skills to make some cool braid at least.

I hope that all of you have a super day today!

xoxo

Dina- are you feeling any better today? I swear by garlic pills when I get sick. Antibacterial and antiviral properties in it.
Sending some virtual chicken soup too!

Trudy- that didn't take long to refinish the mirror! You are a rock star! I can't wait to see the photos! You *will* share some with us, please?
The one good thing about a puppy is that we have a lot of the stuff we would need already, we have toys, leashes, food bowls- Gary even cleaned out Ray's old crate. The only thing we would have to get would be puppy food.
Hopefully Heather will not mind the noise of the Dyson so much over time since she will see how much more dirt and stuff it picks up.

Jean- How are your knees doing today? Our dr suggested turmeric to reduce inflammation in the joints. When you go to your PT eval, you could see if they recommend that as well.
How awesome that Dear Abby had that letter for Lyme Awareness! I hate that anyone should have Lyme, but Yolanda Foster and Avril Lavigne seem to have really brought this into the news better than thousands of "little people" like my family. I will take whatever we can get.
We started watching Wentworth on Netflix (It is Australia's version of Orange is the New Black- women's prison) and the one character said that when she gets angry she thinks of puppies rolling in jelly and it makes her smile. No jelly here, but a puppy has to break the bad vibes that we all seem to be struggling with here.
Thank you!

Sharon- so happy to hear that you and Trudy both have nice weather! yay!
AHHHHRGGHHH about the paperwork. We refi-ed our house when Gary got sick, and it was a nightmare. Lost paperwork, over and over. Then they somehow put a Hold on our application- for NO reason. So stressful and we weren't even trying to move. Good vibes coming to them.
How is the ear?
Did you talk to DH about the iphone courses? I hope that you get to do it, esp since you seem to be really rocking the photos and challenges here!

Gotta get in the shower before the rest of the fam gets up, have a wonderful day!

Morning ladies... just popping in quickly before we head to Costco this morning and restock the freezer. Man we would all have so much more $$ if we didn't have to eat!!! :hungry: Also going to get some new drapery rods for the den downstairs, my sister gave me these beautiful curtains that were in her B&B and they fit and go perfectly in that room. They washed up beautifully and still look brand new so yay for my sister!!

Chris - Wow you guys are jumping right into summer! DD said they are in for a fabulous weekend also! Enjoy this great weather before you get hit with the humidity!! I don't know how you guys can stand that humidity that you get! I guess it is just something that you get used to? I was sure that I posted a photo yesterday of my sister's huge dogwood tree that she has in her yard, but maybe I am losing my mind ?? :loco: So I will post it again along with a pic of the mirror that I refinished. Sorry I don't have a before shot, but just imagine it being painted antique white.

Sharon - Hope your ear is ok, I have to wear earplugs mostly because I can't stand the feeling of the water getting in my ear when I do the front crawl. It took getting a few different kinds of plugs before I finally found the right ones. Hope you are not getting an ear infection and that maybe it was just wax build up!! Sending good thoughts for your daughter and family to finally have all this paper work done and finished!!!

Jean - I have one knee that bothers me once in a while, but since I have started swimming more than walking it seems to be much better. Hope you find some relief for it and the PT evaluation goes well!

Ok better jump into the shower and get this show on the road! Have a fabulous day everyone

Double WOWs, Trudy...the tree AND the mirror. Both are gorgeous. And the cherry on the top is the draperies. Trifecta!

Captain Romance didn't have to think twice about the iPhone editing class. Well, he paused and gulped, and then recalled how much he has spent on golf the last few months (including a new set of clubs!), and barely hesitated before saying he thought I should sign up! YEAH!

Saw the doctor about my ear. Thank goodness it is nothing serious. No infection. No wax build-up even. Just some misdirected sinus drainage. I COULD take meds to speed up the recovery, but I hate taking more meds. You never know how they will interact with each other. She said it will take care of itself. It's better today, but I'm still feeling sort of like I'm in a bubble, and a little off balance. Not going to ride my bike today! The bad news is, it is probably a seasonal allergy (lots of tree pollen in the air right now I think), so there's really no solution for the future. I fell into a deep sleep yesterday afternoon; despite taking my knitting along, fell sound asleep during Bible study; and last night slept deeper and longer than I can ever remember. So I guess that's the GOOD news! It's nice to sleep so well! LOL

Trudy, I thought about ear plugs, but fear they would come out while swimming. I use them on airplanes all the time...or when sleeping in a strange place.

Chris, hope the puppy brings joy to your home. As to the cards you "have to make." You don't! I took a full year off from making cards one year. And now I'm lowering the bar on the complexity of my cards. And I don't send them to everyone any more. If I sense that they really don't care that much, or they send me an email on MY birthday instead of mailing a card, all they get is an email note from me. My ArtsyGal friend BUYS most of her cards now! =:O I can't quite go there yet (esp. when the price of nice cards is so high...maybe I could go for the $2 ones!), but you have my permission to do so! You have way more demands on your life than I do. Who you are is NOT DEFINED by your art! You will still be loved and appreciated if you don't make every card.

Sheesh. I feel like I need to take a morning nap. What a waste of this gorgeous day.

Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend.

Good morning, did everyone have a nice day yesterday? I hope that you did!

So, we are in a bit of limbo ATM here. We went to the Pet Adoption and fell in love with this super sweet cuddly puppy.
Last week, we had seen this total mush-face named Mocha on Petfinder.com. She was to be at the Feed Store and we were hoping to get to meet her. A couple of days later, she had a "Hold" on her which was super-disappointing. When we got to the adoption yesterday, there were two puppies there that looked just like her, one was a male, the other female. We took out the female and I asked specifically if this one was Mocha b/c I didn't want to love on her if she was. The woman checks and says no, not Mocha. We fill out the application, get out references checked put. Our two cats are way overdue on Rabies vax b/c they never go outside and we had planned to take them to the clinic on May 9th. So we can't bring the puppy home. We have an appt with out vet on Friday and we can get the puppy after that.
But when we got home, we looked back at the website and it still states that there are only 2 from that litter being up for adoption, one male and one female, and that female is Mocha.

So now we don't know what to think. :(

I keep telling myself that the right dog will be there when it is the right time. But this little girl was super sweet and shy and I think that would be a good personalty for Ray, since she tends to be timid herself.

(We brought Ray to the Feed Store at first, but the shelter wasn't there yet. We tried to take her to the attached dog park. She slipped out of her collar and *booked* it back to our car!!! At first, I was scared she was going to run into the road, but she knew *exactly* where she was going. LOL)

The birthday party for Christopher was nice- I cannot believe he is going to be 4 and he is now turning into all 4-yo Boy. I got lots of hugs which makes me happy.
Today is Gary's birthday and my IL's are coming up. MIL invited her cousin to join us, which freaked me out since the house is a mess, but thankfully (horrible of me, I know!) he won't be able to make it.

Hope that all of you have a wonderful sunny day, like it is here!

hahah!! Trudy! Yeah, we would have more money if we didn't have to eat too- and we don't eat all that much, it is just too darn expensive!
i don't mind the humidity all that much, it is the cold that does me in (as you have been hearing for how many years??). what a pretty tree!
The mirror is just lovely! Is it cherry? Looks like there is a hint of red to it-- very rich looking!

Whoooo hoooo Captain Romance!! Key to keeping Mrs Romance happy-- sign up up for the iphone course :D
Very happy to hear that your ear isn't serious but I hope that it clears up quickly for you.
Thank you for the permission to not make cards. I do need to make one for my other nephew, but I decided to not make one for Gary. He knows that I love him!

xoxox!

Yesterday was lovely. Sunny, no need for a jacket even. Had a monthly genealogy meeting with a class after that was very good. During the time I found two new records and spent time with friends. Finished with an hour spent on a research project for the historical society (where it all took place.) Today back to digging dandelions and long talk with friend who couldn't make the meeting. Right now we're eating popcorn microwaved in the the new popper I ordered that came yesterday. No more chemicals (and no butter and salt which aren't good for us either.)

Chris, sure hope that puppy turns out to be yours and not the one on hold. Sounds really sweet. Happy birthday to Gary! Hope you're having a nice day for it. Can't fault you for not wanting an uninvited guest, but, hey, if they don't like a lived-in look, too bad! It's a little like not having to make all the cards.

Trudy, I have to echo the Wows! Love the dogwood and how big it is. And the mirror - how elegant and lovely. Swimming would be better than walking, but I know I'll never do it so walk just briefly now. We'll see how PT develops.

Sharon, glad you're signing up for the new iPhone class. You really seem to be getting fun and good ideas from classes. I too am glad the ear problem isn't serious. How impressive your swimming is. You really seem to be on a good path.

Hope it's a lovely, relaxing weekend for all.
