Holy cow! :cowwaving:
It really *is* the last week of March. Is it just me or does that seem bonkers?
Yeah. It is -totally- bonkers.

And lucky for me, today will feel like it is May/June weather and I can't wait to get outside. It is already 51*! Sweet!

How was your Friday? Mine was good. I think. Not sure if I remember al that much of it. Scott stopped in while he was on his lunch break. He is doing a beaver info hike this morning and man, I wish I could go. He was on his way to the park for the pre-hike, so he timed it so he could say hi and grab a snack. I showed him more of my bird videos, which made us all laugh. The "expressions" on the cardinals always crack me up.
The spicy seeds are awesome too. I only get a squirrtel up there on occasion. And the mess-free seeds really are 99% mess free. I'm glad Scott has been able to get them for me.

I did a little bit of light dusting and cleaned the bathroom mirrors. And I made (a simple dinner). Go me!!

I would love to go outside and pick up some of the fallen branches today, but at least I can sit out there for a bit instead.

Do you have any amazing weekend plans, please share so I can enjoy them vicariously :)

xoxoxo

So I hopped up and started dusting and picking up because her house is IMMACULATE!!! Ruth brought 1/4 of a German chocolate cake to us that was still warm! How sweet was that?! She went no further than the kitchen because she had to get back to one of her ailing cats! But I felt good about getting rid of the dust bunnies, LOL!
I like having the family parties here because that pushes me to do a real deep clean every few months.
German chocolate cake-- still warm?? Yum. ♥
I saw an ad for the Uno-Stacko and that looks like it could get crazy! It sounds like you and Abby had a wonderful visit.

Only one more lunch to make :yesss:.
Yippppppeeeee!!!
Have a wonderful time at Linda's birthday party today.

Good Morning Ladies!
Hope you all had a splendid nights sleep. Things here are calm and (thankfully) boring today. Grocery shopped yesterday and hubs went with, needed the help. We dropped the dogs at the groomers, got my sunglasses (not in love yet) and then had lunch before tackling the groceries. Then I sat on my porch and it was bliss. I love late March. It gets up to 80*F on my porch and the bugs aren't awake yet. The perfect time to sit and read a book.
This sounds so dang relaxing. What are you reading now?
I am 2/3 of the way through Station 11. I was craving a dystopian novel and that one popped up as a recommended title. I was done with the "girl goes missing and friend uncovers secrets in the hometown" genre.
I feel a bit of loss as to what to do to occupy my mind as we wait. I decided to upload 5 more Color Play LOs to the galleries and get caught up on comments on my March Tic Tac Toe challenge this morning. Have a couple more CP LOs to upload tomorrow.
I hope that scrapping will keep you occupied while you wait for more updates. Sending love :hug3:
I got back Wednesday night from a week in Florida with my mom. Closing on the condo went smoothly, lots of trips to banks and worrying about how to set up the money so it will last her, at least as well as we can figure what with the chaos in the economy these days. Everyone we worked with was very helpful, and congratulated us on the sale. They all believe that sales in Florida are only going to get worse. I should be over the worrying and obsessing about it now, but I'm not. I think I need a few good long bike rides.
I am so relieved that everything went well. If you are anything like me, it will take some time outside to get your head back together. I am super excited to hear about your flowers blooming!
I aksed Scott how the down-county parks were -- they bloom a week or so ahead of us here-- and he sadi things were getting close. I see small buds on the forsythia and the red maple which are early bloomers here. I am getting antsy :giggle4:
Yeah, ITA. Lyme research is one thing but the research on cancer treatments?? Especially ones in human trials? I cannot imagine. :brokenheart:

Tracy-- I hope you adjust to the sunglasses.

@JeanneMN You're back!!!! :dancing6:
Key West sounds like it was wonderful and I cannot wait to see your LOs!
Sorry that all of the appliances went kaplooey when you got back. Isn't that the way of it? One year, we had to replace our stove and the dishwasher. And the coffee pot, but we tend to go through them often. I feel like the old man on the lawn-- "They don't make things like they used to." (Narrator voice: No. They do not.)
Enjoy the weather whiplash :eek2:

HAGD!

@vickyday OMG...German Chocolate cake....I plan on having a piece when I'm in Germany in Sept. I remember my first piece when we were there in the 70's now my mouth is watering. So glad you have a good visit with granddaughter always a good time.

@JeanneMN Key West is so unique I am glad you enjoyed it, looking forward to seeing pages. Makes me want to go back.

@Terri M Glad that the Florida deal went through and now the stress is off. Real estate sales have slowed down in our area for sure.

@AK_Tracy Enjoy your warm weather and the latest book you are reading

This week has been crazy. Yesterday we finally (mostly me) finished digging out the bromeliad garden so now I can just put one of each back so in 8 years we can dig it up again...LOL. A sweet girl came over to get a few but I still have a huge pile to give away. Hubby noticed our A/C isn't right so we are getting someone to come check it out..it's old so I hope it doesn't turn out to need to be replaced. Last night we tried an Italian restaurant we never went to before..Yummy mushroom ravioli and Riesling to wash it down. I want to go back.. oh wait I will...my leftovers for lunch today.

@faerywings I'm so happy your "new house" is done, it looks so adorable...when you moving in??

I'm leaving soon for the club to help prep for the Spring Tea tomorrow. almost 100 women all dressed up drinking tea, baby sandwiches and fancy desserts. My days of dressing up are over I live in Florida now so I will work in the kitchen. I will be glad when this is over. Give me friends in bathing suits by the pool with salads and wine!!!

Well I guess it's time to head out so I will try to stop by again this weekend. HAGD Oladies!!!

Good Morning.
Its a warm (sarcasm) 33*F this morning. Feels super crisp.

And lucky for me, today will feel like it is May/June weather and I can't wait to get outside. It is already 51*! Sweet!
Okay Pot, listen to Kettle, you are allowed outside to SIT DOWN AND DO NOTHING! Not allowed to start working on the garden. Okay!! dont make me come over there and smack you! :rollingpin1:
This sounds so dang relaxing. What are you reading now?
Web of Shadows by Susan Sleeman. Its a trilogy, crime/love story. She's such a good writer. I was looking at my kindle app the other day and it says I have read 22 books this year so far. That felt like so few.

Good luck with prep and serving tomorrow. I hope youre able to have some fun while doing all this work. I am with you though, friends in bathing suits by the pool with wine sounds way more fun then dressing up for tea.
HAGD Oladies!!!
:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh: I did NOT read this as you wrote it! I read Old Ladies!! :floorlaugh:

Welcome home @JeanneMN Glad to see you popping in. Sorry your appliances all decided they needed to show you who was boss. Seems like the break they get while we're on vacation makes them think they no longer have to work. Dont ya just love March and the bi-polar weather it brings?

Tomorrow we are having a ministry fair for Sunday school hour. I'm not sure what I am suppose to set up today for my table. I told them I wouldn't agree to being in charge of the "kitchen" until they came up with an SOP or at least a guideline of what I am to oversee. That hasn't happened yet and they all act like I said yes 6 months ago. So I have to set up a table so people know what and how they can serve "in kitchen" an I dont even know what all I am suppose to cover. The few things I do know, are already covered. Like purchasing and cleaning. All the other events are covered by the other ministries, like Mens Breakfast yeah they use the kitchen but they'll have their own table. Its stressing me out and I have to set it up today. I have NO idea. I asked for a half table and I think I got a full table. What do you decorate a table with? Dishes and towels? Who wants to wash and dry?

Off to get more coffee and stress out :giggle4: Have a great day!

Good afternoon,
Been thinning out the pictures taken in January. I love capturing the motion with the bird setting......but what a pain in the tush when it comes to thinning them out!

We are leaving in a couple of hours to go to a Comedy show at one of the churches in a nearby town....meeting at a restaurant to eat out first.....with our pastor and his wife, her sister and husband, Mark and I. I'm sure it will be a barrel of laughs! At least I hope it is at $45 per couple!

Had a great evening with a childhood friend of Mark's and his wife. Sweet couple. We taught them to play Qwirkle! We plan on getting together again.

That's about it for me. The stomach is finally feeling somewhat better. I don't think I will be able to eat much out for supper tonight, however!

Have a great afternoon!

The spicy seeds are awesome too. I only get a squirrtel up there on occasion. And the mess-free seeds really are 99% mess free. I'm glad Scott has been able to get them for me.

Glad you like the spicy seeds! I love the mess free seeds, even though they aren't 100% mess free!
Glad to hear your weather is such that you will be able to sit out and enjoy it today!
I like having the family parties here because that pushes me to do a real deep clean every few months.
German chocolate cake-- still warm?? Yum. ♥
I saw an ad for the Uno-Stacko and that looks like it could get crazy! It sounds like you and Abby had a wonderful visit.
Uno-Stacko can get crazy! But it is a lot of fun! Had a great visit with my Abby girl!
OMG...German Chocolate cake....I plan on having a piece when I'm in Germany in Sept. I remember my first piece when we were there in the 70's now my mouth is watering. So glad you have a good visit with granddaughter always a good time.
I can only imagine that German Chocolate cake from Germany is the ultimate real deal!
Yes, love any time the grands are willing to spend with me! They have just about all grown out of us!

Morning, gals. Well it has been a busy day for me... Leslie called to ask if I could change the memorial page I did for Max. She needed it to fit into a 16X20 photo that they would have at the funeral. Only took a few minutes to change it and send to her. BTW, she was at the photo center at the pharmacy when she called. But... neither of us thought about it being put on a canvas frame - and needing 1 12" on all four sides for the wrap-around... So another quick adjustment and sent it to her. :floorlaugh: The gal at the photo section was so surprised and loved that I could get the adjustments done in just a few minutes... So thankful that I had the skills and software to do this for Leslie. Lots of messages going among our family as to who is going and when. So it has been a busy morning keeping up with every one and their plans.

Here it is noon and I am still in PJs. Needed to get a shower and dressed. HAGD

GooOOod morning, Lovely Ooos!
The warm, sunny weather only lasted for part of the day but it was glorious being outside to enjoy it. I spent an hour and a half sanding my hiking stick and it's now super smooth. I have to decide what I want to do with it, clear coat or leave it natural? Do I want to add a strap? I am 99.9% sure I don't want a handle but maybe some sort of wrap instead? :thinking2:

I saw a few more "new" birds at the feeder. A male goldfinch -- that was very exciting. And I am assuming the pale golden-ish bird with black/white wing bars is the female. More house finches, *lots* of black capped chickadees. They zip in and out so fast! I think one of the most fascinating things I am learning is how different their behavior is. The cardinals will sit and munch away on the perch, the chickadees zoom, and the juncos always come by with many friends. Many, many friends LOL
After I was done with the sanding, I put together a nesting material basket. I had gathered the materials for the field trip that I didn't get to run. I followed @mimes1 instructions and connected some flexible branches with gardening wire, filled it with some dried moss, dried fluffy seeds, and some fir needles, and popped it in the crook of some branches in the rhododendron. That is the brids' favorite place to hang out while they wait their turn at the feeder. Maybe I'll get to do this with the kids next year. *fingers crossed*

My parents are coming for bagels this mornign and then I need to get ready for the week ahead. Biggest project: grocery order. (yuck)
have a fantastic day!!

Well today is the day of the Spring Tea--It's a big fund raiser but wow it's sooooo much work. I was at the club yesterday with 12 other people setting it up from 10:30 to 5:00 Some left earlier but I worked till the end. 12 round tables set with plates, saucers, tea cups and water goblets. Silver ware and an embroidered tea towel at each. 15 ladies made tea sandwiches 100 each and others made fancy desserts. I need to go get lemons this morning to put in the water pitchers...ooops we forgot that yesterday. The new head count is 93 so serving today will be a busy for the men servers and the kitchen staff. Then of course the clean up.Ugh. I think I want to go on a camping trip next year...LOL

Yesterday I released 7 more monarchs and today there are 4 that are ready and 2 dark chrysalis so they may emerge later. So I have released 50 so far.

@AK_Tracy That was so funny I guess I should have written O-Ladies. Your project sounds pretty intimidating I'm not sure what you are supposed to do but I guess that is your problem too that you don't understand what you are supposed to do.

@BrightEyes I guess that shows how wonderful digi-scrapping is that you can make those changes so quick for the memorial. I bet that was a good feeling being able to help. Thinking of you at this sad time.

Rain last night rinsed off my van so I'm happy. I cleaned inside the other day but didn't get to the car wash.

Ok got to get stuff done before going to the club in a little while.

How are your knees (and shoulders and back and ....) feeling after all of that gardening?
I would be in the kitchen with you-- I'd be much happier in sneakers in the kitchen than dressed up drinking tea. :p
Have a wonderful time today and don't work toooo hard!

@AK_Tracy Don't feel bad about that warm temps we had here yesterday, NJ is back down in the to the 30s today. Chilly and damp. Normal March weather.
Okay Pot, listen to Kettle, you are allowed outside to SIT DOWN AND DO NOTHING! Not allowed to start working on the garden.

Nope, I didn't even leave the patio area. :crying1: One of my favorite thigs to do this time of year is to survey my gardens and yard to see what is starting to grow. Two more weeks and then freedom! (yeah, yeah, with some restrictions LOL)
Web of Shadows by Susan Sleeman. Its a trilogy, crime/love story. She's such a good writer. I
I will check her out!
Sheesh! Did you ever find out what you are supposed to be doing today?

I love capturing the motion with the bird setting.
What is a bird setting, is this on your cellphone?
How fun to go to a comedy show! Gary and I used to do that a lot when we were first dating/married. Out 1st Valentine's Day we saw George Carlin

Posting this now, J needs to go outside BRB!

That is just awesome!!
I think I want to go on a camping trip next year...LOL
I don't blame you, make sure you take breaks today.
@faerywings ooooo walking stick sounds cool --get a wood burning tool and decorate it before clear coating it. Make is super personal.
That's a really awesome idea!!! Gary has one and he also has a wood laser tool. I should see if I can burn faery-wings (maybe like my tattoo?) on it. How aerosome would that be??

That makes the photo so much more special that you were able to do that for Leslie. I know how much you m,ust wan tt be there but you are there, with everything that you do.♥

The bird setting is on my Nikon camera. My new one captures a burst of 10 photos with one push of the button on the bird setting to capture movement. But the downside is having to weed out all of the blurry pictures.

The comedy show was ok but not great. I don't think I would pay $45 to see them again.

I would say that was the female goldfinch for sure. If you see any with the black wing bars with gray bodies, those are immature non productive. I think that's how it is described.

Quick in and out this morning.
Heading to church in a few minutes.
Might be a bike ride in our future this afternoon.
If not I will probably do some laundry.
Have a great day!

I am still reeling from the news that DD#3's husband was admitted to the hospital and her oldest son was being seen at another ER here in town last evening. Separate health issues. Son was treated and sent home. So thankful DD#3 had not left town to be with DD#2. Will be waiting for results on Son-in-law#3... hoping they can be done soon. At least they are here so I can be of support to DD#3.

Oh no, more trouble for your family. I sure hope this is easily resolved. When it rains it pours!!! Best wishes to everyone and please keep us posted. Thinking of you.

@vickyday Oh no a not so great comedy show that's too bad. We are going to one next weekend at the Elks so I hope we are not disappointed, it's 4 different comedians that preform in Vegas so I have my fingers crossed for lots of laughs.

Good morning ladies. Just wanted to pop in and say hi. I've not been around lately, other than taking care of CT stuff. I've been busy with my jewelry biz, designing and getting pieces ready for sale. I've decided that even if the store doesn't have room for me yet, I will apply to some of the local artisan markets so need to get stockpile. It won't always be this busy but right now there is a lot to get started, on the design and business end of things. My biz cards come by mid April, can't wait to be able to give those out.

I'll be around more again but just not right now.

Good Morning Ladies.
Whenever I type that I hear Robin Williams from Good Morning Vietnam. Movie quotes run through my head all the time and pop out in unexpected (to others) places. Growing up we watched movies ALL the time and repeatedly. Quotes are half the conversation at my house LOL

The warm, sunny weather only lasted for part of the day but it was glorious being outside to enjoy it.
Oooohhhhhh sounds like a blissful day! I too was outside for about 90 minutes and was able to read a book while sitting in the sun. totally embraced my Alaska crazy, snow on the ground, slight wind but the sun was out and I was in a tank top! Got some sun too, little color added to my arms. Today looks to be the same too and I cant wait to get home from church.
I think I want to go on a camping trip next year...LOL
I am so with you on this! I would gladly help in the kitchen rather then be part of the tea. I would rather go camping than do fancy tea set up. :giggle4: I'm all for feeding people and that's what I love to do but I dont do fancy. I am all about comfort foods and casual.
I'll be around more again but just not right now.
STRANGER! STRANGER!!! Look out!!!! (please please please read this with funny sarcasm). Its so good to see you and hear how youre working so hard on your new jewelry business. Cant wait to hear how amazing it is and how much you sell.

I went to church yesterday to set up my table thinking I was listed as "kitchen" and stressed so much over what to have on my table and talk about. I made 8 signs with all the things I could think the "kitchen" my be responsible for. Trying to think what, when, how, who? Yep, I arrived and I am to man a table for Wednesday Dinner. That's it. Made it easier but ugh the lack of communication was/is driving me nuts. Then I was told to go to the gym and tell the custodian where I wanted my table located. Well, he wasn't given that direction, and assumed I would set up the table. Then it was super unclear if I am sit at the table during service? They tables line the room where we have Sunday service. Do we stand, there's no chairs, cause I cant stand that long. Yes, it will all work out but this planner who's organized is going crazy with the lack of solid plans and information. We have two secretaries. One said I was kitchen and all that covers. Then the other says nope youre just Wednesday dinner. One says tables will be set up with names on them. The others says here's your sign go set up where you want. **be Gumby. be flexible** AAAHHHHHH I am NOT Gumby!!!!! I have four sign up sheets so people can sign up to help in the kitchen on Wednesdays. Wanna take bets how many names I get today??? My guess is less than 3. Also the Pastor who I report to (my supervisor) talked this whole time as if I was representing the whole kitchen. Plus all signs around church list "kitchen". Will be fun to see if anyone says anything. Sometimes its not a good thing to be organized and a planner. Its super frustrating. Hubs told me I am odd and 99% of the world isn't 1/2 as organized or planned as I am. Sometimes feels like a fault yet its not. People need to learn organization!!! and planning!!!

:soapbox::soapbox::soapbox::soapbox:

Stepping down. Backing away. No one was hurt in the typing of this message. Shhhhh I'm sneaking out the back door.

Off and running. Need to feed the dogs before we leave for church. Have a wonderful day!

@AK_Tracy ---Oh my that is so disheartening and confusing. I feel so bad that you were thrown under the bus but Gumby came out ok.

Well the Ladies Spring Tea is over!!!! I'm exhausted. 11: 00 to 5:30 was a very long day on my feet...TENS machine help me. 4 of us in the kitchen served 102 women about 900 tea sandwiches and 900 desserts. The tea and water was delivered from another area in the club so I'm not sure of the amounts of teas and water...but it was allot. Tomorrow is clean up, wash 13 tables of dishes, water goblets and silverware to wash and put away..

I sure need to sit down now to take it easy.

Tomorrow is monday already.

Oh Debby!!! that's a lot of work!!!! I hope you went home, poured a big glass and then sat with your feet up. I cant imagine 900 of anything let alone desserts and sandwiches. That's insane!!!! The means the each person ate almost 18 things!!!!

Debbie it sounds like you have an amazing club to put on such a special event! Must be a really wonderful community. You deserve a break after all that work, and I hope you were able to rest and pamper yourself a little bit this evening! And I did the same math that Tracy did! That's alot of food!!

So cool that you do this.

@faerywings This is a fabulous suggestion from Debby! Your walking stick is going to be amazing.

@BrightEyes I'm so sorry to read about all the troubles with your family. Please know you and your family are in my prayers.

@faerywings The parakeet is still hanging around! He's a pretty regular guest now. It's so magical watching him fly in and out and integrate with all the local wildlife. He's doing great. I hope he sticks around.

The parakeet is still hanging around!
All the bird talks are ....... wow you all have a lot of birds that hang around. Right now we're watching Bald eagles and ravens doing their mating rituals. No bird feeders, those bring bears. We have been listening to the birds, we have some sing song birds and its a for sure sign that summers coming. I love watching the eagles soar though. Not so loving when they swoop down near our house, and we have to watch the little dogs closely.
