If you haven't seen the Grand Prize Drawing, get a pillow, place it under your chin and go check out.
:jaw:

Wow!

Other than hanging out at the O, what fun plans do you have? We are having some fam and friends to come up today for a Mad Men House Party. I swear, I was done with these, then Gary applied to this one and got it. We watched a few Mad Men episodes on Netflix, and I was *not* amused.
I guess (hope!) that is written tongue in cheek on how sexist the early 60's were, but all it does is make me fume.
I said to Gary, I would not have made it a day back then.

Do any of you watch Mad Men? What are your thoughts on it? I know I am overreacting, its just a TV show, but really, it made me crazy LOL

Better get going, I still have to finsih cleaning up and some cooking.

xoxox!!!

Good morning ladies! I agree Chris...couldn't believe these prizes!

Not much going on here. Syd is completely well...totally admire her resilience! My two are going with my sister-in-law and niece to a new indoor trampoline place to spend an hour jumping! Other than that, we are supposed to have beautiful weather and I'll be hanging out here looking for the newest birthday challenge!

Chris, only watched mad Men once. it didn't interest me. and oh YES, you would have made it a day back then, because that was how things were and we didn't really think to challenge it! but the '60s were when things began to change. some for better, some not so much.

Hey! look at me! i got 8 hours of sleep last night! good!
but because of that, my morning blood sugar reading was too high! bad....

well. bye-bye to 80 degrees and sunshine!. rain and in the '60s. i think my husband is relieved. he was fearing that he'd have to mow the 2 acres, and now that's not going to happen!

gotta clean house. gotta go to the Home Depot to try to find some strange bit of hardware that will help us be able to use the new family room screens i had made by a company online. GREAT company, by the way. they can reproduce almost any screen, it seems like. and pretty cheap, too. i'm pleased!

wonder when all the Winter Weary Pennsylvanians will begin to plant flowers. it's so funny. everyone here ALWAYS gets fooled by our weird weather and goes out and starts buying impatiens and petunias and begin planting them WAY too early. then the frost comes.... when experts tell us MAY for planting, they really are NOT kidding, no matter HOW good the weather looks for about a minute. 8)

enjoy your O Birthday Weekend!! :thumb:

Still not really back on track. Dad is better, still in hospital. I'm still struggling with not feeling well. Pisses me off a bit - I haven't had any problems with my anxiety for years. Anyway, I'm tired - can't focus - a bit restless ... but the thought of leaving the house is scary right now. In short - my brain isn't working right now. (No Chris - you don't have to comment on that - I know what you want to say ;) )

I have no idea what Mad Men is - but ... the world's full of them, right? :)

((((((((((((hugs))))))))))) Eva! I adore you no matter how much or little your brain is working.
And heck, who am I to judge. My brain *never* works!!

Eva, feel better. i hope soon. and you're not missing much with Mad Men, i think, even though it's a sensation in the USA. maybe because THIS country is full of them?

this is what we are doing today

Oh Kristy, looks like a perfect day to accomplish some burning!

And Eva, so glad that your dad is doing better. Sorry that it has caused anxiety to reoccur. My mom had agoraphobia for years...it was particularly bad when I was in jr. high and high school. But she continued to work every day right through that time. She was a strong woman! ((hugs))

Phylis, that seems so unfair that you have a good nights sleep and your blood sugars go up! Ughh... Glad you got the sleep anyhow!

Morning ladies! So excited about the birthday bash!! This will be my third birthday party here at the "O" and they just keep getting better and better!! I love it here!! A beautiful sunny day today, so I can't sit on this computer all day. We have lots to clean up in the backyard after a major wind storm when we were away in Winnipeg. I think most of the trees around us lost there branches and they all fell in our backyard. :mmph:

Chris - I am with you on the Mad Men show!! It just infuriates me!! My Gary's father was very much like those guys, thought women were put on earth to serve men... Oh I better shut up or I will just get myself all worked up :tape2: Hope your party goes well!!

LindaS - Have fun at the trampoline place! Sounds like fun!!

Phylis - Wow 8 hrs of sleep!! that's wonderful!! Too bad about your blood sugar though, its always something right?? Hope you find your DooDad that you need for your screens!

Eva - Aww, sorry that you are still feeling yucky!! Hope today goes better for you! to you my friend! Glad to hear the your dad is feeling a bit better!

Kristy - looks like about the same amount of branches that are in my backyard, but the neighbors would kill us if we lit them on fire LOL.

Well off to the gallery and then some breakfast and outside work for awhile. Need to hit the grocery store and pick up supplies for wine making too. Have a great Saturday everyone!!

Well, we had dance practice, took our possible car to bank for loan quote, went to dealer and said this is what the price total needs to be to get us to buy, and they met it= they came down another nearly $3000! So I have a new/used car- new because the warranty is as if it was new and used because it had 6000 miles on it. It is a tricked out car that was used by a college coach (umm till he was fired/quit, sold everything and left the state). If you wonder what cooled seats feel like- it is like cold air blowing up your skirt! I had to try it. So now I will have a great ride when we go on vacation later this year.

Here's what I've done today:

Super easy pattern. Took me about 2 hrs to do it.

LOVE the idea of the coole seats! You may need to do a layout!

Great job Eva!! Laurie your cooled seats sound like something I could use during a hot flash!! :becky:

kiliki, i got a little worried when i saw your photo - it's just at the end of summer here, s everything is dryyyyy, and over the last few summers we've had several bad bushfires in our region. glad to realise that you're not evacuating and trying to save your house... :eek2:

cute hat, tanteva - i finished a scarf for my daughter last night. (love crochet too).

we had (another) party for my four year old today - glad it's done. she loves people much more than i do... i end up all :croc: and no one's happy with that... (have i said i *love* the smileys here? they're awesome...)

OMGOMGOMG!! Did you all see the party has officially started!!?? It is so exciting.

Party here yesterday was a success! I am so blessed to have such nice family and friends. Ate some food, had some drinks, took everyone out on the trail, came back in for more food/drinks/coffee/desserts..... then off to bed for me. For some odd reason, I was having a total anxiety attack- all morning I was "off." I was releived that everything went easy after that.

Today is some simple clean-up, since I tried to do as much as possible as I went along yesterday, and Gary helped out too. Yay! Then its all O-Party for the rest of the day!!!!

Linda S- how is Syd feeling today? The trampoline place sounds like a blast!

Phyllis- yeah, your are right. I think that is part of why the show aggravated me so much- I was thinking, why are these women just taking it?? But how would they know/expect any different? That was the way they were *supposed* to be. :frusty:

Excellent sleep!! Hope you got it again last night, sans high sugar

Eva- more good thoughts to your dad coming at you. Like I just said up there^ I have been feeling the same weird anxiety for a while too. No reason that I can put my finger on, I just feel "off" and unsettled and anxious. Hope that you feel better. Love that hat, you look adorable in it!!

Kristy- Eep!!Its illegal to burn yard debris in NJ, so it always flips me out when we see people doing in when we are at my mom's in PA. That looks like a big blaze!!

Trudy-- did you have a fab day outside?? Cold and dreary here, so I am thrilled about that- no incentive for me to do anything other than sit right here. :ranger:
heheeee! We can rant to each other about men LOL

Laurie-- great news about the car! That's funny about cooled seats. Made me think of Marilyn Monroe. I wouldn't care about that, but give me warmed seats any day :)

Linda and Eva-- you girls are cracking me up!

Anna-- I am glad I was the only one freaked out by Kristy's photo hahaha!!! I feel the same way about parties too!

Hugs to everyone who stops in today!!

Now Chris, that is one sure way to up your post count. (Do we have a smiley for running and ducking for cover? Why yes we do! :behindsofa: )

Syd is fine...boy can she bounce back! Kids loved the trampoline and then we went to the circus last night. We hadn't been for probably three years and neither of them remembered it.

Another beautiful day in Iowa...but I can't help myself, I need to spend some indoor time at a party. :bday:

Ahhhhhhh!! I am so sorry about that-- the page kept getting stuck!! Off to delete and delete and delete..... ;)

morning all - Chris, it has heated seats and a heated steering wheel. I set up my phone's bluetooth so theoretically I can talk hands free- we shall see. I just have to learn all the voice commands. The most amazing thing to me- I have this rectangular thing that locks, unlocks, does the trunk and will prestart the car for me- oh yeah walking down the hill to the parking lot- hot or cold- I can have the car starting to get ready for me! Plus- no key, it stays in the ignition- you just step on the brake and turn it. As long as the rectangle is within three feet of the car without holding any buttons (it can be in my purse) I can grab the locked handle and it will open! So many new things to learn to take advantage of the bells and whistles! I am really feeling old at my amazement of technology!

aaaahhhh heated seats and steering wheel..... *green with envy*

I had a remote start put in my car as a christmas gift a few years ago- worth every penny since we don't have a garage.

enjoy your ride!

I hope to- it has been over a year since we had to make a car payment and 2 years since we paid two car payments- which equals the amount we will be paying again- yikes- did you feel my belt tighten. We keep them till they have hardly any life in them. I will be now be one of them at work that park diagonal in the end row- so I get no dings for the first year, even if it is "just a car" to me- for the price I am paying, I need to keep it looking new! I made a layout

I have been feeling the same weird anxiety for a while too. No reason that I can put my finger on, I just feel "off" and unsettled and anxious.

You probably don't want to hear this - but I've googled some the last few days about menopause. And now thinking about those who talked about 10 years?!?!! I'm leaving this planet!

Sweet Jesus ... now would be a great time to return! :israel:

Oh ... and my hat ... it's not mine anymore. My sister was here today - she liked it, so I gave it to her.

Hi Girls - it seems like for-evah since I was here with time to chat...Well, it is getting close to midnight. Perhaps that is why?

WHAT A WEEK! My little one (the darling in my shiny new avi) ended up with RSV AND two ear infections AND three new teeth. Oh my heavens am I tired. She's nearly over everything - except she sounds like she smokes a pack a day, and her mouth is pretty sore, but she's in great spirits. Good thing, since yesterday was her first birthday! She slept most of the day, but of course found enough energy to scarf (and smear from head to toe) a cupcake. Good thing this month's O-Collab theme is bdays - I have some great photos to scrap.

In other news - I can't believe my baby isn't really a baby anymore. :( And she's my last. Makes me kind of blue. :frown:

On to personals -
Chris: I have never seen Mad Men, for the reasons you named. I don't like to see ANY group (gender, race, etc) treated unfairly and I knew that show would bother me. Good luck with it! I'm hooked on Grimm, but I have to watch it on Hulu because my daughter and nephew aren't always in bed by 8pm on Fridays, when it comes on. It probably wouldn't phase my daughter (she's three) but my nephew (he's 11) would have nightmares for sure. Go figure. lol

Phylis: Any chance you'd be willing to share a link to the place you got the screens? My living room has windows that are a strange size, so it is hard to find parts for them. Might be worth checking out your online find.

Eva: So sorry about your dad. Hang in there!! LOVE the hat!!

Krisy: EEK! Better you than me - fire makes me too nervous.

Laurie: Congrats on the car!! New or used, it is always exciting to get a new ride.

Okay - I seriously have to get to bed. After I finish packing. *sigh* I have to head back to the surgeon to get my brand-spankin-new elbow checked again. Hopefully he will let me go more than 6 weeks this time. It is so far, we discovered it is cheaper to fly than drive. Gas is outrageous around here - which is so stupid because the oil is drilled and then turned to fuel basically in my backyard. Ugh. But that is another topic for another day. AND I can't go up and back in one day, so that involves a hotel stay.

Anyone know where I can get a money tree? Sheesh, with my not-even-close-to-green thumbs, it would never make it.
