Happy weekend!!!

How is my darling and amazing and talented O-Fam? Hope you are all having a better start to the morning that I am off too. I exploded my coffee pot again. I think I overfilled the reservoir with water, cuz I have coffee running all over my counter, but the pot it still full. Notice, however, that I not cleaning the coffee up but rather hanging out here trying to drink the coffee w/o swallowing any grinds :pound:

What's happening all through O-Land today?
You all can guess that the weather is like here today. Cold, damp and grey and forecasts of a *cue deep announcer voice* "MAJOR SNOW EVENT" next week. Is it any wonder why my bones won't stop aching?? :blabla:

I think I need to steam clean (yes, again, damn cats!) but I might be easily convinced to do it another day. LOL
Anyone want to twist my arm and tell me to scrap instead?

off to see if I can strain out some more coffee,

xoxoxo!

Oh my Chris- not a great way to start the weekend. I know I have dance and then, well scrapping, basement work- because next month we have the grand dance floor opening party- and cleaning upstairs. Someone is messing with me, because I have been in a get it done right now mood and the weekends laundry only has one load left- really on Saturday morning- and the house except for my nemesis kitchen table is clean- I have even made my bed- maybe I should go to the ER and make sure I am not having a self destruct cleaning episode!!!

Friday:

Laurie- how is ACDSee 15? I am still using 12. Now that I don't work for them and get the automatic upgrades, I am stuck on 12. I looked at the new features and while I thought the (darn it, can't think of the word) the sub-categories automatically adding themselves. seemed cool, i didn't think it was worth the money at the moment for me. Or rather, the money isn't there anyway so it was easy to dismiss an upgrade :D
I would love to hear if it is much different however and maybe I can save up eventually. Get it on sale when PM 16 is released.... *wink*

Laurie, can i send a few people over to your house to volunteer their faces for your boxing workout??
Phyllis!!!
I can think of a few that I'd like to send along too.
Abx and my stomach-- yeah, I ingest handfuls of acidophilous daily. There is a new Rx of acidophilous too. The kids dr prescribed it and their insurance company actually covered it. The bad part is that it is apparently very very nasty. Its a powder that they have to mix with milk or juice, I smelled it and -bleck!!! Can't imagine drinking it.
Right now I am on three abx daily and I have to eat when I take or I have horrible nausea. It stinks.
Can you post the recipe for the dressing?? Sounds really good and Cait and I are trying to eat a big salad every night at dinner.

Oh and I know what else I wanted to ask you. Do you make a Mediterranean/Greek style chick pea salad? With feta and cucumbers? If you do, do you have a recipe for that too? I found a recipe online but I am sure it is not get authentic. TIA!

Nana-- that is exactly what sold that car to my mom, the idea of going on family picnics! She was so disappointed then they bought CRV's #2 and #3 and they didn't have the table.
Use your Honda influence and make them bring it back :D

Oh Trudy, I really cannot imagine how hard it is for you to not be able to see your g-kids often. Thank goodness for Facetime and Skype although it is not even close to the real deal. Happy birthday to Sadie!
Hope you had fun at work and didn;t let any of that new owner uncertainty get to you!!

Nancy- that gadget sounds really really cool! Let us know when you get it!

Terry- so relieved to hear that the surgery went well. Were they just repairing the hip fracture? What kind of recovery is she looking at? FWIW- my dad had hip replacement , oh about 8 years ago. He says it was the best decision he ever made. But the most important thing was to get out of bed and move as much as possible, that it helps the healing and recovery more than anything. It sounded very counter-intuitive to me, but that made a huge difference in him being able to get out of the rehab as fast as he did.
Hopefully your mom will be stable enough and you sis will be there for her and you can get to Maui and be able to relax and enjoy your g-daughter. (do I have that right, its a g-DD you are visiting? Sorry if I am wrong, brain doesn't always work too well)

love to all of the O-Zies!!!

Laurie, i only WISH i could permanently stay in a Get It Clean mode. i really have to talk myself into housework EVERY time....

Chris, here's the recipe:

1 cup olive oil (i use light, but you can try extra virgin)
6 Tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp Oregano
a little pepper

that's it! i store it in a bottle in the fridge. (the olive oil hardens, so you have to bring it to room temp before you're going to use it. i just put the bottle in a bowl of hot water for a few minutes.) i also use it to marinate cauliflower that i roast for 10+ minutes in a hot over with a sprinkling of kosher salt. i don't have a chick pea salad recipe, but, believe me: add the above dressing to anything and you've got a Middle Eastern Marvel. it goes especially well with a salad with some crumbled feta. the perfect marriage is a salad dressed with this stuff, (with some feta and Greek olives,) and LAMB. i know a lot of people don't like lamb, but those flavors are PERFECT together. hope you enjoy it.

and sorry to report, it's snowing. :smow: again. hopefully it's not heading your way, Chris. maybe your Major Snow Event is coming up the coast? i'll have to have a look at the radar.

today my plans are on hold. i'm waiting for DD to wake up and call me. i was going to drive into town with some leftovers for her, but i haven't had a reply to yesterday's email yet. so. here i sit. ALSO--i got EIGHT HOURS of sleep last night!! :humble: :cheer2: i was still up at 4:30, but i fell asleep at about 8:30, so it all adds up. it confuses the cat, though. in the past, he's been used to eating as soon as i wake up. so he's demanding food at 4:30a.m. then he's starved by noon and PESTERING me until he gets Feeding #2, which is SUPPOSED to be around 3:00.

well, Happy Weekend, O-zies. give thanks.

Good morning ladies. Can I tell you that I had a crazy week?

Kids were let out of school early on Tuesday because of snow so I worked from home in the afternoon. Spent 2 hours each shoveling Tuesday night. What a disaster! Snowblower fixed on Thursday so hopefully no more snow! Although they tell us that it is coming tomorrow night again! Between cancellations and postponements...ugh! Then had a 2 1/2 hour soccer board meeting Wednesday night! Shaun got my computer all messed up sometime after the soccer board meeting Wednesday night (when he should have already been in bed) so had to work on that! Syd turned 9 yesterday so had her family party last night at Incredible Pizza followed by watching my niece's basketball game.

Craziest week of my already crazy life! Oh, and in the middle of all of that, I found out that they are trying to build a casino within 1000 yards of the kids' school. Which means about 1100 yards from my front door. So I am joining the group to fight it (of course I am) so that's just one more thing on the list...

I do have some time to decompress this weekend however and I intend to use it by hanging out here!

Morning all you lovely ladies!! Looks like our pineapple express that passed through here yesterday is finally gone and boy did it leave a lot of rain :rain: nice mild temps though! Thank you Hawaii for sending that nice warm air this way :thumb: We really needed the rain too, the lake has gone way down in the last month and we were all getting worried that we would be on early water restrictions this summer.

Chris - Ugghhh on the meds!! Doesn't sound very pleasant for you, but hopefully it will kill off those dam bugs!!!!! I think that the steam cleaning could wait one more day, and that you should definitely make today your day to scrap, scrap, scrap!!! Work was great yesterday, got to spend time with my girlfriend and we talked and laughed and just had fun, oh and we got the statements done too LOL. One thing that she did find out about the new boss is that he thinks there are too many women working at our store??? Oh, oh!!!

Laurie - If your cleaning mood stays with you, I have a couple of closets that need to be cleaned out !! Come on over!!

Phylis - Your recipe sounds great!! I will have to try it for sure!! Nothing like a great salad!! Especially with feta!! yummmm!!! Hope your daughter doesn't keep you waiting too long! Hooray for the eight hours of sleep!! Your poor kitty must be so confused  LOL! I slept til 8am this morning, but such broken sleep, awake almost every hr and then toss and turn to get back to sleep Uggghhh. Is it going to be like this for the rest of our lives????

LindaS - Yikes a crazier week than normal?? I don't know how you do it?? Sure hope your weekend gives you some rest!! Now you have to fight the building of a Casino?? WTH are they thinking, putting it near the school?? Surely to goodness there must be someplace on the outskirts of town that they can do something like that?? :loco: Really makes you wonder, who the heck comes up with ideas like that?? Fight the good fight my friend :boxing:

Well I have groceries to buy again... it never ends!! Then I really hope to spend the rest of my weekend here with all of you!! Have great one!!

good day all! Yes it is cold and grey and windy! I really need some real sunshine! My DH and I walked downtown to our attorney and signed our wills, living wills and power of attorney. Told my youngest where we were headed and he looked incredulous and said I want not that old LOL. Glad he does not see me as old. Really should have done this along time ago not only for mature people LOL! But it was a really cold walk. But found out my town has a new store - a yarn store and they have a knitting club and gorgeous yarn. I love knitting and have since I was 10 years old. I think I am going to start again. Just have to find the pattern. The ladies seem so nice. I really want this store to stick around! Was walking with my girlfriend yesterday and one of the neighbors house is having problems with deer eating her plants so now all the plant have bars of zest hanging in them. too funny! of course that may mean that all the deer will be hitting my bird feeders which I will not appreciate!

Chris I hope you have a calm weekend and steam cleaning can be put off for sure! I am just like Phylis I find it hard to convince myself to clean when it does not good and none besides myself bothers to keep it clean! And the older I get the less I want to feel used. I keep clean and take care of the space that matters most to me.

Phylis I think the storm Chris is talking about is coming up the coast but luckily it is now March so any snow should be gone fast or may just come in as rain. Congrats on the great night's sleep!

Linda wow your week was crazy - good luck to fighting that casino!

Trudy glad you had a good time at your job! Makes the time go so fast!

Terry hope the surgery went well!

have a great day!

Well - one step closer to Chris and Trudy's!! I have the laundry done and now I am going to start on Phylis (ironing)! I even scrapped a page in between have another ruminating in my mind and one for the creative challenge to upload- I don't think I have ever finished all 6 challenges so early in the month - or in the month lately!!

Nancy - good for you for getting all that stuff done- I need to get on my husband about that stuff.

Laurie!! you're a dynamo today!! the ironing's waiting....:becky:

Trudy, i can't even imagine getting some weather that makes its way to my house from Hawaii!!. we get things called Alberta Clippers--so you can GUESS what comes with those.

Nancy, the yarn store sounds lovely. unfiortunately, they never last. at least they haven't around here. let's hope the owner is a rich lady who keeps it open as a hobby and doesn't need to make $$!

Linda, were you able to fix the computer? and the casino thing just makes me sick. is this country going out of its MIND??? they were trying (and still might be...) to build a casino right next to the Gettysburg battlefield in PA!! i hope you WIN and the damned casino is sent packing. it's obscene to put it close to a school. i think the stupid things are obscene WHEREVER they are. this really burns me up.:flame::target:

It's after 4 pm...I finally got here!! I am exhausted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jaiden had her little dance recital this morning...a bunch of 4 and 5 year old frolicking fairies...hehe!!! It's suppose to be ballet...but it was darling!!!! Then we headed to Cameran's birthday party at 12:30....TWENTY-FOUR KIDS!!! ACK!!!!!!!!!! so needless to say, I am so tired!!! Mom and Dad came and got Jaiden and Jesse....so I have a few hours without kids here....I think I will order a pizza to be delivered....then I don't have to move!!!

If I feel like it I will get some photos up later on FB....I still need to do the photo's from my Dad's birthday last weekend!!!

Have a great evening ladies!!

Nana- sounds like good exhausted though. Phylis- I just put my iron away- sorry!

I just ordered the backsplash for the basement- yikes- it is coming together. I won't tell my husband that I used ebates- so I will get money back - just enough to feed my digiscrap habit a little bit.

Hey ladies! Popping in this evening for some smiles :) Been having a hard weekend -- lots of friends losing those close to them, and then continued frustrations with the happenings at DH's work lately. Just can't seem to shake my bad mood and anger... been trying to scrap though it!!!

LOL Chris!!! You always make me smile -- hehe I vote for scrapping instead of steam cleaning!

Hehe Laurie, I'm sure the mood will pass without an ER visit ;) It usually only lasts me about half a day, day at most!

Sorry about the snow Phylis :( send it my way!! It's too hot here lately (sorry Trudy!)

Yikes Linda!!!! Is it a tribal one or corporation?? Casinos = big problems. If you need some examples to support your fight, let me know and I can send you some articles about what's happening around here.

Trudy - I agree - more rain please!!! I hope you enjoyed the nice weather though :)

Nancy -- go for it!!!! My favorite yarn shop closed up about two years ago because of the economy, after over two decades. Knitters and crocheters are an awesome bunch - just like scrappers ;)

Nana - glad you got to have fun at the recital and then a brief break from the kiddos! I hope you made the most of it :)

I hope I didn't miss anyone... just saw it's almost time to wake up Jeff to go to work.

another day of watching the "sun" come up. i know it's there because it's getting lighter outside. i'm trying to remember when the last time was when i saw the actual sun. my vitamin D levels are probably in the tank. on a more positive note, i got 7 hours of sleep AND my dreams were all about running around in Paris!

Meg, it's hard to be cheerful when The Husband is having a bad time at work! hope the situation resolves soon.

Nana, you Party Girl, you!!

what's up for today? no idea. one of those days that lends itself to cleaning out drawers...or something.

Morning Phylis! I forgot that the sun rises earlier in the east than it does further west, even in the same time zone. Moving after 40+ years of the sun coming up early and going down late that it did the opposite still boggles me after 10 years. In the summer here it can still be light at 930- really. I did not sleep terrific last night, finally got up and got my ear plugs. argh. Then I woke up several times anyways and slept through the alarm- just a little. Today- still have the do it now bug. We will go to early church. I know breakfast will be on the menu, and I plan on heading to the craft room and cleaning up (and playing!) Oh and more layouts and more posting.

Nancy, tell you neighbor to spray on diluted hot sauce. works like a charm and doesn't require hanging bars of soap. that was a new one on me. never heard of hanging bars of Zest!

hi, Laurie. the sun's coming up about 6:30-ish here now. hmmm. (and today I was coming up at about 5:30-ish.) i just looked outside, and it's snowing. again. :mmph:

:hurt:

i love it when it's still light at 9:30 p.m.!! it means it's SUMMERTIME!!! :cheer2:

Phylis- I think my son is considering running a half marathon in Pittsburgh this year. I will tell him to wave at you.

sound great! and i will wave back! tell him to face northwest from the starting line. then i'll see it. :becky:

good morning and happy Sunday. I think. LOL I was able to stay in bed a bit past 6 am. But damn, I realized how "light" my sleep cycle is. Just about everything seems to wake me up and once I am up it is next to impossible to get back to sleep. Last night I ended up taking more melatonin at 3 am, or it would have been an "Up at 3am" day. Looking back, its seems that this sleep pattern has gotten much worse over the few weeks. Phylis- I know you know what I mean. :(

And yes, I woke up to another dusting of snow. I am 100% grateful it is only a dusting but c'mon already!! DONE!! DONE!! DONE!!!
:mad2: :yell: :censored:

Really. Done.

Good morning - I slept until 8 am and it was wonderful. However I was awakened at 2:30 by my son's car alarm. LOL he set it off when coming home from the club. But fortunately I just rolled over and went back to sleep. Chris and Phylis no snow down by me not even a dusting.

Phylis thanks for the tip on the diluted hot sauce. I will mention it and I may have to use it myself this year as I think my yard has become a deer highway!

Nana Linda I bet watching that recital was so fun. Glad you got a break and enjoy the pizza.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday

Laurie- did the "malady" every go away? If not, you are still welcome to come here :D

Phyllis- yummmmmo! That sounds good (the dressing) I am going to put feta on the shopping list too. Not crazy about kalamata olives. A bit too strong tasting for me. I bet if I used that with the chick peas, it would be delish as well.TY!
Yeah, yeah, we got your snow too. The "Major Snow Event" is coming down from CA but it might either swing out to see or up the coast to NE. I just want it to go *poof*
Did you get to see your DD yesterday? Hope that it was a nice visit.

Linda S. I hate to break this to you. But sweetie, every week of yours is a crazy week. I don't know how you get through some days but you always do!!
And a casino?? Next to a school??? What are they thinking????? I know what they are thinking. MONEY!!!!!
NJ just passed a law to allow for online gambling. Good for me, keep it that way, Not by a school. SMH.

Trudy- warm weather sounds heavenly!!

One thing that she did find out about the new boss is that he thinks there are too many women working at our store??? Oh, oh!!!

I don't know if the laws in Ca are similar to the ones here, but document this. Here it is illegal to fire based on sex, race, sexual orientation etc. If only women get fired, you might have a case against the owner.
OTOH, i don;t think I would want to work for a boss who thinks that way either

Nancy- I sitill don't have a will or life insurance or anything liek that. I keep saying one of these days.....
How nice to start knitting again. I hope the shop does well too. I just found out that our town Dollar Store is closing down, You know your town is not business-friendly when you can't even keep a dollar store going. meh.
I am hoping the same as you- that even if it does snow it would last. But we have been hovering right around freezing point during the day so it will likely stick around up here.

Laurie- what a productive day for you!

nana- oh how cute to see the girls dancing at that age. Cait never did dance, she was always into gymnastics. I miss that she used to do that so well. She actually down at Rutgers today helping her BFF's mom and former gymn instructor with a children's gymn competition. Any possibilities that she might come back home and interested it in again? Yeah. I don't think so either. LOL
Hope you survived the day and didn't need to take too much aspirin.

Meg- you always make me smile too! Hugs!! I think its time for guinea pig therapy! Hope that today is better for you!

:;grouphug

Morning everyone... I will just pop in to say hey and then I have to get some breakfast for MG. He is finally painting my laundry room, it's only been 6 years since I asked him to do it!!! LOL. So I will get back here after some breakfast and catch up on personals

Morning Trudy- my husband turned down breakfast, so I made it for me. I am in the basement, cleaning, organizing and listening to hymns. My mom used to listen to hymns every Sunday so it reminds me of her! Oh Sally just came on- yup, she is my hymn list!

Good morning!!! I started a devotional last night that I've been putting off, and ended up grabbing the book that led to the writing of the devotional. I'm definitely feeling better and more empowered, so time to do some art journaling pages on the verses that really stood out to me :) I want to say it seems like things are calming down for DH at work... but he's still having to work six days a week until further notice. Hopefully that means lots of comp days so we can go visit some digiscrap friends on the coast come April :)

Chris -- hehe guinea pig therapy!! They're actually causing some of the stress lately... Sparkles is being moody and causing problems, and she's being rough with Bubbles. I'll have some girl time with Bubbles later today :)

Well I got side tracked after breakfast and decided to finally get my Blackberry Jelly made. Have been putting it off for a long, long time. Ohhhhh sooooo yummy!! But had a disaster because one of the jars cracked and exploded all over my kitchen counter, what a mess, it took about an hr to get it all cleaned up :frusty: So I am one jar short :hurt: Not sure if I have enough juice to do one more batch, have never tried to do a half batch?? Not sure if it will turn out? Anyone know?? Oh well it is enough to last until next picking which will be the end of August. Kept enough berries for a couple of pies too. MG's favourite pie of all!! So now that I have gotten all my chores done and I even got the bathrooms cleaned. I think that I will just sit and scrap the afternoon away. Sorry no personals ladies, but you know that I love you all!!

Meg - are you coming out to the Island this spring??
