Good morning/afternoon/evening on Saturday/Sunday/Monday if you are Down Under ;)
Who wants some coffee? #coffee-3 I'm going to need more than the one mug I had but I wanted to post here before I grab another one. My back is a bit wonky, the dogs had me so squished. W was sleeping on my pillow in between me and Gary. Paws stretched out straight and every time she started dream-running, I got smacked in the face. Good thing I love that girl. She missed Caitlyn so much. She looked really sad in the morning and when I asked if she missed Caitlyn, she perked up and wagged her tail.
Caitlyn seemed to have a good time at the conference- mostly the social parts of it. The workshops she attended were interesting but didn't give her much new insight and info. It reaffirmed that she is on the right track with her approach though. She was stoked that her boss used her data/spreadsheets/slides during his presentation.

I spent most of the morning getting everything done that was on Thurs and Friday lists. The only thing left was folding the laundry but it wasn't dry when I mentally logged off for the day. The big decision today is what to cook for dinner. I don't have much in the house that is vegetarian, other than the Impossible Burgers but I need to save them tomorrow when Tom is here. I hope there is American cheese at the FP today, I'll make baked macaroni. That's one of the items that is hit or miss. I doubt that Cait is coming with me again, she is probably very happy sleeping in her own bed.
I have two other things I need to do, get my income taxes filed and make another page or two for Christopher's album.

What plans do you have for the weekend?
HAGD!!

@bcgal00 Oh no, your poor back. How is it feeling today? It seems like it's been a while since you had to lie on the floor to settle it down. I'm like you, there is always low-level back pain, but when it gets bad- it's really bad.
The Duck Hunt sounds like a totally fun icebreaker for the cruise. Do you have to get plain basic ones or can you get themed ones? Way back when. I used to make kiddie soaps with rubber ducks embedded on top. I'd use Christmas or Halloween ducks. The Halloween ducks I had left over, I gave to my friend who collects all of the spooky stuff. Every time I clean his bathroom I have to move Franken-Ducks out of the way. :giggle4:
Have a great time at the party today!!

@taxed4ever Woot woot on sleeping in! Did you decide on the paint colors? It will be good to have that settled in your head. Is you still starting the painting this weekend? Have fun with it.

(Ahhhhh! Gay just brought me more coffee! :heartpumppink: )

How can they close a post office? Doesn't each zip code need to have its own PO? *shrugs* I have no idea either for CA or US,
only that the PO I use is never busy but serves the smaller zip code in my town and I thought that it *had* to stay open. Can you ship packages through the postal website? USPS website lets you schedule pickups from your house, pay and print the label, and tell them where you are leaving the box and *wipes hands* you are done. That would stink if you can't do that.
That's awesome that Linda likes to hike, I bet that she be back in shape and not so sore in no time.

I keep thinking that I have a picture of Gary and me hiking, with baby Scott in a carrier. We used to take him and our dog on hikes lot so we bought a sturdy backpack carrier for him. I'd even wear it before he got too heavy:D
I'm going to look for it today.
Umm-- right now... I have this one on my computer already from apple picking2016-02-07 12-49-46_0340.jpg
My gawd he was such a cute baby!! *heart melts all over the place*

My heart melts a little more over you reading Hunter's favorite book that you also read to your kids. ♥

@vickyday thank you! Like I said, the yarn is not what I would have chosen myself, but it worked. :D
You must be cruising along with your sweater. Good luck with the computer and EHDs. You are further along switching to the Mac than I ever would be- sounds like you are really figuring a lot out. *high fives*

Better get my day started-- Have fun whatever you do! xo

Good Morning, Ladies. Happy Belated Saint Patrick's Day! Happy Saturday! Between a bad nor'easter and town elections I was pretty much MIA all week. Sooooo very glad its Saturday. I did get to play a little yesterday and enjoyed some stressless time playing with "Animal Talk". Hopefully today will bring some more creativity.

I'll hopefully get to time to read back and see what was up with all of you this week. Whatever came to pass... I hope today is a fabulous day for each of you!

PEACE

Good Saturday to all!
Bed is made - check :bedjump:
Dishes are put away - check
Laundry is started - check :laundry:
Coffee is in hand - check :javafix1:
YUP! I think I'm ready for the day! :giggle4:
I need to do the social on the layout I did for Lynn's featured product challenge for March. And then I think I will do some knitting on my sweater while I'm listening to a book and in between loads of laundry! DH is in the woods, so all is quiet..... except for the pup snoring in Mark's recliner, LOL!
I talked with my son last night about some Mac things since he is the one that gave me his old Mac that I am using. I was using the Notes feature to record all of my layout information but it is not as conducive as using a word processor. He directed me to the Pages word processor included with the Mac. I saw it but didn't realize what it was for.....a 60+ DUH moment, LOL! What else would the pencil icon mean?? #crazy-2 And since he has given me about 3 of his old laptops and I am in the process of converting everything over to Mac, I asked him what his current laptop was......hoping it was a Mac, LOL! It is! He has saved me $$$$$$$$$$s on buying new laptops! The best part is that his company pays for a new laptop for him. I don't know how often, but I'll take his discards! ;). And, actually, my very first laptop, a Sony Vaio, is still being used by me. The battery is long gone. The charging cord connection is touchy (I have it taped down so it doesn't move, LOL). The USB ports are iffy. And I haven't tried the CD/DVD reader that is not being included on laptops any longer, so it may or may not work. It has my only version of Photo Shop CC5 and has my second version of PSE on it...#6. There's very little RAM left on it, so it just isn't conducive to use for anything but hooked to the TV so we can watch our Wisdom Journey videos at night.

Speaking of the TV.....Mark and I are totally hooked to Alaska Daily! I don't remember who suggested it, but thank you!

OK, first load of laundry (mine) is ready for the dryer. I wash my clothes first before Mark's because his work clothes have machine oil, etc...sawdust from the woods...etc...and then I wash the towels, basically to soak up any machine oil that might be lingering around! We have brown or dark towels, so it works! I use OXY on his laundry, so it cleans his clothes pretty well!

Anywho.....have a great rest of your weekend!

Good morning ladies. I am off this morning for a drive with Remi, I'll bring the camera to see if I find any eagles along the way to photograph. There is a fun spot where we can play ball. She needs some exercise b/c she'll be home moping all afternoon, as we're going to visit friends. I'm making broccoli salad (green for St. Patricks Day), already cooked the bacon, just need to mix everything together.

Can't wait for the cruise. We now have 44 people in our group so it'll be fun getting to know some of them throughout the 3 wks. I will see if I can find some rubber ducks at the dollar store tomorrow, to bring for the duck hunt game. If not, I'll order some online.

@faerywings I loved baked spaghetti (back when I was eating pasta). Hope you get the cheese.

Good morning @Nonni F

I have lots to do today so need to get going. HAGD

I am assuming it is season 1. The first one on our list is listed as the Pilot. I don't think Season 2 is even available for us yet. We have to wait before we can even stream the next one to watch.

Happy Saturday everyone! Its another beautiful sun shiny day! DH and I spent the whole afternoon outside tidying up the front yard. It was so nice to be back to the garden again! I was thinking of you @faerywings the whole time I was out there! We raked all the dead leaves from under the bushes and DH cut the grass, while I cut all the dead flowers off of our huge hydrangea bush. We got the front porch all cleaned and ready for us to sit out there and have our coffee or wine. I found the outdoor rug that we have for the front porch and it was warm enough for us to put the cushions on the furniture and sit cozy warm under the propane heater, we waited all winter to be able to sit out there again, it was so nice!! We will enjoy todays nice weather again and then back to cloud and rain for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, hopefully Wednesday will be nice enough to hike. Bring on Spring!!! :nod1:
Today we are going to get groceries, and a few things at the hardware store. Then home to tackle the big Pampas grass. It really needs to be cut all the way to the ground, it should have been done in the fall, but the weather was just too miserable and its a big job. It will be good to get that job checked off of our long list of garden projects.

@faerywings - Sorry your back is not feeling quite right! I hope you are able to do some stretches and un-tweak it! What a great photo of you and your Gary and cute little Scott!! He really was such a beautiful baby!! You are so young in the photo and look like you are enjoying your day of apple picking! :lovey3:. I don't understand how they can close a post office either, but apparently it is happening. We will now have to pick up and drop off parcels at the London Drugs outlet or the Main Post Office. I do usually print out my own labels as I get the parcels ready online and I could have someone pick them up, but of course there is a cost for that. I guess that is what they are trying to do, is to get more people to use the online portal for mailing. Putting more people out of work UGH!!! Technology is not always a good thing is it?!!

@Nonni F - Happy Saturday, sounds like you have had a busy week! Hope you get some creative juices flowing and enjoy your days off!!

@vickyday - Look at you all organized and ready to take on the day! Wow how great to have all the hand me down Mac's!!! Lucky you! Wish I could some from my son, but his are all military issued so they can't be passed down to me or they would have to kill me :giggle4:. I am happy to have his help with my iMac when needed though, so nice to have a techy guy in the family! Enjoy your day of knitting, you will have that sweater finished in no time flat!! Smart of you to do his laundry separate from yours :laundry:!!

@bcgal00 - How many more sleeps until you leave for your cruise?? I forget, but then I forget a lot of stuff #crazy. Hope you see some eagles today! They land in the trees outside of our place down by the lake and I sure wish I had a great telephoto lens to see them better with. But then sometimes they are eating their lunch and thats not so fun to watch :eek2:. Hope everyone enjoys your broccoli salad and that you have a wonderful time with your friends today! Hope you find some really cute rubber duckys for your game on the cruise! Enjoy your day today!

Well its time to hit the shower :showering:and get something for brunch for DH and myself. Have a great day everyone! :waving1

The sun is shining but dang it is cold cold cold. :brrr:

How was your day and weekend so far? It felt wonderful having Scott home for a short 12 hours. Sheesh... actually not even 12. Poor guy left for work at 6.30 am after getting back home around 7 pm. What a week he had, such an intense experience. He called us mid-day to see if we were up for hanging with him when he got home, he had so much to share. Of course, dude! I even made a cake that said Congrat (ran out of room for the "s" LOL!) He passed the written exam and made it through all of the simulations and is officially a WFR (pronounced Woofer. My dogs were pleased :runningdog: ). The simulations were so intense that after Day 6's, he called Caitlyn around midnight just to touch base. He had to role-play a man who almost died and daughter died- complete with special effect makeup- in a mass casualty event (lightning struck a tree and several people "died," including a pg woman who was his "sister"). After that simulation, all of the patients were sobbing, it was that emotional. He had a tree branch impaled in his cheek and a couple of hours later, he brushed his cheek with his hand and "felt" the branch there. He said the group was an amazing bunch of people- from 19 to 75 yo and felt like family by the time it was done. They were from all over the country and one man flew in from Bosnia.
We are so proud of him. I can't imagine doing that, or even wanting to do that, but he has found his calling.

Cait and I went for a long walk with my friend across the street (her Mom #2) who wanted to know as much as she could about wedding plans and house plans. We worked on the puzzle a bit and I finished the taxes. Federal is eFiled and the State needs to be signed by Gary and put in the mail. I am going to have to get the kids to start theirs soon.

I am meeting my BFF today, she is having a really difficult time with her mom. She started having TIAs a couple of years ago. Last year she had to move from her 55+ apt to Assisted Living but has spent more time in the hospital or Rehab Center than in the apt. Now she really needs to be in a Skilled Nursing Facility and it's just a mess. :( I am meeting BFF at the Rehab to visit her mom, then we are going to get coffee and discuss her options.

Have a wonderful day!

@Nonni F Did you get lots of snow with this past storm? My town was at that weird cutoff area that 10 miles southeast of us it was all rain but it snowed here. I hope that you have a relaxing weekend and that the week ahead is calm as well. Every LO I see with Animal Talk is adorable, makes me want to get that kit.
Thank you, we were all so young in that picture :)

@vickyday look at you go! You are Wonder Woman, no wonder the kitchen faeries kept bailing on you, you didn't need them :)
What a nice perk for you and DS to get new Macs. My ILs gave me some of the iPhones to use as an iPod and I don't mind hand-me-downs at all.
Isn't Alaska Daily good? I think Rae recommended it and I am glad that she did.

@bcgal00 That Remi is so cute. Do you think she bugs Taz to play when you aren't around? And does he give her a grumpy face? *G* How was the party?
Hope you were able to find some ducks

@taxed4ever All of your yard work is making me happy but really wish it could warm up enough that I could get started. ;) I must have felt wonderful sitting outside in the fresh air and admiring your hard work.
That doesn't seem fair that the post office charges you a fee to do a pickup.

@faerywings We got about nineteen inches according to the news. With the drifts some parts of the yard only seemed to have a few but then inside the garden fence it was halfway up and filling in the garden like a bucket. It's going down quickly though.
It was just bad timing being election day here. People were angry and mean that it wasn't postponed. I'm still trying to figure out where all the hardy New Englanders have gone. Had we cancelled and it wasn't that bad we'd have gotten grief for that. But... all is well that ends well. It's a new day. The sun is shining and we're off in a few minutes to visit two of our granddaughter's who had birthdays this week.

I hope this message finds everyone smiling.

PEACE

Happy Sunday ladies…DH and I are up early, we were sound asleep early last night. Guess all that fresh air and yard work tired us out more than we thought! Today we will tackle the pampas grass and I will get all the house cleaning :vacuuming: :mopping:, and the laundry:laundry: done. This afternoon I will finally get the background done for the turtle painting and it will have to dry for a few days before I can start on the actual turtle part of it. I will have to find time to make some zucchini cheesy bread today too. Another busy Sunday. It would be nice if I could actually do some scrapping tomorrow, I need some creative time!

@faerywings - Wow sounds like Scott had quite the time with the training and simulations!! It really does sound like he has found his calling!! Isn’t it wonderful how things have turned around for him! You must be such proud parents!! So nice that you and Caitlyn are talking about wedding plans! I never got to do that with either of my children. Jason and Jackie took total control of their wedding plans and only asked us to pay for the photographer. Heather and Jonah never wanted to get married. I am happy that they have given us four beautiful grandchildren though. I hope that your kids will do the same! I know that you have said they don’t want children, but hey, things change, so don’t ever give up hope!! I keep my fingers crossed :peace2: that you will soon be outside in your garden and talking to your little frog friend! Hope he made it through the winter ok!

@BrightEyes - I really hope that you are feeling a bit better today! :blowkiss::hug2:

@Nonni F - Yes you are probably right! If you would have postponed the election then everyone would have complained about it!! Aren’t people strange! Hope that your weather warms us and spring comes to you very soon! Enjoy your day!

Well I guess I should get going with our busy day. Tomorrow DH is back to work and the house will be clean and all will be quiet LOL. Have a lovely day everyone! I hope you all do something fun with your Sunday! :waving1

Good morning,
Quick in and out as I'm on the way to church.
Not much planned for today except knitting on the sweater. I'm almost done with the body. Then I pick up stitches for the sleeves and neck, weave in the ends and I'm done! If the cold hangs around I might be able to wear it later this week!
Have a great day!

Good morning ladies. We were up late so didn't drift off until around 1:30 am. Had a fun time at the get-together. They had a big fire going so even though it dipped down to the low 30's, it was still comfortable to be outside later in the evening. It was a small group, only about 12 of us. It is so interesting to talk to their friends, what it is like living in a rural area, farming country. One couple raises cattle, another fellow is an artist, and they all live in small communities within an hour of Kamloops. I spent time with their birds, talking to Draven a lot, a white cockatoo. He was imitating my laugh, would repeat...hello, i love you, i'm a pretty boy. He would do a dance and raise one claw and shake it around. I could spend all day with him. But then we went out to the shed to hang out with the horses, donkey and llama. It is so surreal to be snuggled and poked by all the animals. I kept trying to take photos and they were all over me, poking their noses into the lens, they were fascinated by the camera. Most of their animals are rescues - mini horses, donkey, turtle, dogs, cats, llama, birds, hens - its always so much fun to visit.

This morning I will head out for a photo drive and will bring Remi so she can run around in a spot along the river. I want to scrap and do some meal planning later.

@faerywings You're a good friend, helping your BFF with her mom. I guess one of the good things about her situation is that there are facilities to meet her needs as she worsens. Here, there isn't much at all so the elderly really suffer here in Canada. When I go out, the dogs usually spend most of the time upstairs in bed. They both like to pout LOL.

@Nonni F That is a lot of snow, you can keep it. I'm ready for spring.

@taxed4ever zucchini cheesy bread sounds good. Enjoy working on the painting.

Time to go feed the birds and play with Remi. HAGD everyone.

Good morning. Had a couple of meetings on Friday to get the work credentials checked out, etc. The rest of the day was spent hanging out with the kids and Brian. We have lots of groceries and Syd has decided to not go back until tomorrow morning. Her Monday classes are all recorded so she doesn't need to be back until afternoon when she volunteers in the lab.

We got all of the documentation loaded for her trip to Germany. Copies of passport, covid IDs, etc. She ordered a lunch card. Looks like she is on her way. They have a meeting on Thursday with the program advisor...Syd has class so she will need to wait for the video. I'm anxious for her to be able to get her tickets sorted out but my preference is that she take the same flight with someone else if she can. She doesn't seem to care one way or the other.

I need to go back and catch up on everyone with personals. I'll get that done soon.

@faerywings I think you definitely need some fresh produce. Ours isn't great but it is almost year round at decent prices. What I miss most are good apples...a nice, really crisp, sweet apple and sweet corn in season. In Iowa, it is called sweet corn for a reason.

I totally get what you mean about the combination of the exciting and sad, thinking about when the kids leave home. It's such a strange time in life. And wowzers about Scott! That is amazing! I don't think that I could have done that simulation! It has taken me 50 years to get over my massive fear of lightning after seeing those kids struck on the baseball field. The world has almost caught up to understanding that danger, but not quite! I bet he really wanted to talk to Cait at the end of the day...just to remind himself that she was really safe and sound.

Hope that you have a good talk with BFF. So hard for her to have to make all of those decisions and go through that! You will be a good voice of reason for her and a comfort.

@bcgal00 I don't mind that much snow this time of year. It never stays long. The sun is too strong now. I even saw a few crocuses under my blueberry bush in the side yard this morning. YAY!!!! Spring is on it's way.
