I hope that all of you are walking up to a pretty day like I am. The sun is shining and I hear lots of birds chirping. I had to wake up early because I am going on an adventure today. Maybe that is a bit hyperbolic. Leah's mom, Arlene, called me yesterday and asked if I wanted to go with her to the Skylands Animal Sanctuary (Felis-- this is where the pics of Cait and Karen the Pig came from!). Caitlyn and I were saying on Monday that we really needed to go back. We wanted to go last summer but no one could get it together to do it. Scott and Leah are up at my parents' lakehouse, but I asked if Cait was invited too and she said of course! We get to spend the morning seeing cows and pigs and goats- all saved from factory farms and natural disasters like hurricanes. Nancy, do you remember the news story about the cow that escaped from a truck on Rt 80 a few month ago and then gave birth a couple of days later? I will get to see them!! Brianna & Winter
I am really excited to go there.

I woke up yesterday in a crummy mood, I was *not* looking forward to dealing with the ins. co. again. Gary talked some sense into me and said to call the one in Wayne, (45 mins away). In the grand scheme of things, an extra 15 minutes drive is not that big of a deal. I felt such relief! If at this point you are wondering how long that relief lasted, you would be correct in thinking "not that long."
I call the office to see if they still take my ins, she isn't sure and says she will call right back. Two hours pass and still no call back so I contact them again. And nope, of course, they don't take my ins. any more.
I call the ins. co. and the CS Rep goes through what I have been through and suggests that we look into hospital-based outpatient PT. Finally!! It is at the hospital where I spent most of my free time since 2014 so they have all of my info already in the system. LOL The first appt open isn't until the 19th but at least I have one.

I was able to wash all of the leaves of the lilies with neem oil soap so I hope that I saved them in time. They should be ready to bloom soon and they are so pretty when they do-- dark red and white. I did a bit more weeding and mulched the little garden patch (3' x 3') that has the cucumbers in it.

I don't have time for personals right now, but if I do after I get ready I will be back. If not, have a fab day and I will see you all tomorrow.

good morning - the weather is beautiful! Sun and a nice breeze. Opps now we are having a lot of wind! But still love the sun. My DH was going into work but mass transit was not working and he forgot his wallet. It all conspired to get him to stay home. It was an open house and there are others that will be there so not really a problem. Got more scrapping done, made a good dinner meatballs with tomato sauce and orzo salad with green beans and capers. Yummy! Not left overs so that always makes me happy. today is pretty low key.

Chris so glad you got an appt. finally! And it sounds like it is not too far away. Have fun at the rescue. I am so glad that cow escaped and now she and her baby are doing well. That was such an amazing story.

Jean I see that the Yankees are playing the Indians. Watched it last night and even though the Yankee announcers said that the Indians were not doing so well the Indians won and I thought they looked really good. Glad you are not grumpy any more!

Rae it was so good to see you pop in. I have been seeing on Instagram your pages and I love seeing Taz. He is such a cutie.

Kay hope your back is feeling better. I cant wait to see a page with your outfit! And 62 years wow! I am totally impressed.

Trudy I love how my teeth feel when done with cleaning but during the cleaning I wish is was done faster. Hope she did not hit a nerve!

Felis that is something about no water and having a barrel. I hope that situation is fixed and fast! Enjoy reading and scrapping.

Have a great day all!

Sleeping in is getting to be a habit... woke up at 6 but turned over and went back to sleep until 8AM. Being lazy and still in my PJs while I check out what is going on here.

The back is still 'iffy' so not going to be doing much today... may scrap a bit. I had fun yesterday playing around with filters in PSE19. Fell in love with the sketch filter and figured out how to bring back some of the color. I will be using that technique more in the future.

I have been really enjoying my Chicken/fruit/veggie salad the past two days. Only have enough left for one more meal. <<< sigh >>> This was my lunch yesterday... So relaxing to read a good book while enjoying good food.

No, I don't usually use a lace place mat or the fancy dishes. But am participating in a photography challenge about food at another forum so did the fancy stuff for the photo. The salad tastes just as good when it is on my everyday dishes and plain place mat!

The weather turned HOT yesterday... got up to 92*F. I decided it was time to adjust things - so turned the heat off but will wait until I need the A/C to turn it on. I had the house closed up and it only got up to 78 inside. Stripped the bed and packed the down comforter away for the summer. And, yes... pulled out a soft cotton knit SS gown to wear last night. Even had to turn the fan on last night and only needed the sheet over me. Talk about going from freezing to summer heat...

Off to take my shower and get dressed. Hope you all have a great weekend.

What a fantastic weather weekend here! Gorgeous sunshine yesterday and today too. It is about time, right??

We had a fun time yesterday at the Sanctuary. We got there around 11 but when we met up with one of the volunteers, she told us that the tours were not starting until next week. I guess she noticed how disappointed we were and offered to let us tag along while she bottle-fed some of the babies if we were interested. As if we would turn that down!
We got to meet three baby cows- 6 months old I think? One guy, Derek, was blind, and the other two--Lily and I forget the last one's name- were vision impaired. Then we got to see two baby goats- Lennie and Sherman. Sherman was the cutest little guy and Lennie is super snuggly. Then off to meet Cupid. He is a bull who lived with a broken leg/shoulder for *two months* before he was rescued and treated. He needs to wear a brace on one of his front legs and limps but he is safe. Got to meet some silly goats including Jeremey who is King Goat of his pen. Then we finished up by meeting some more cows including Brianna and her baby Winter. I think that Arlene was feeling much more balanced after all of that. Who wouldn't be?
We went to lunch at a place called Fetch-- a dog-themed cafe. We have been there before but Arlene hadn't so it was fun to check it out.

Today is another beauty of a day and I have my list of yardwork that I need to do. I want to mix some compost/peat moss into one of the raised beds and then mulch it. Then I want to do some work in the backyard since it is still messy from the Fall. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain so all of my inside work can be done then.

xoxo!

Kay- as long as you feel good when you wake up, sleeping in can be a very good thing!
Arlene told me about something that you can put on your chair- it is a half-circle- that is supposed to help your back and posture. I found it here.I am not sure if this is something that might help your back but I am thinking about asking for one for my birthday. Hope that each day, your back feels better.

My mom is a very firm beliver in making your food and setting look as pretty as possible. Your photo display would make her swoon! (Me, I eat out of Tupperware if it means one less dish to wash- I drive her *crazy!* )

That is a big jump in temps for you. Good that you are now prepared for it.

Hugs to everyone!

Second warm day here too though may rain sometime today. Not feeling very energetic, but got things done yesterday. Maybe some :washing: today and watch hockey tonight.

Chris, I totally agree about fewer dishes to wash, but I do eat lunch often on a pink depression glass plate that is very pretty (my parents left me a stack of them). Have fun, but be well-sprayed while working outside. The sanctuary must have been so wonderful and nice for you all to see it together. Pictures?

Kay, that is a lovely meal setting and the salad looks very tasty. Hope your back feels lots better since you'll be getting ready for Tuesday's RH lunch.

Nancy, orzo salad with green beans and capers sounds wonderful! Know you'll be watching hockey tonight. And the Indians beat the Yankees again last night! Poor CC trying to get win 250.

Hoping your weekend continues to be lovely.

Good late morning O-zies... My usual very busy weekend and sorry I was not in here yesterday to catch up with all of you!! This morning I got a batch of blackberry jelly made, the kids go through it like water when they visit LOL. Today DH is cutting another cradlewood panel for me to paint for one of our neighbours. She saw my last one and asked if I would paint something for her, so how could I refuse a sure sale!! LOL. Other than that I need to get some :washing: done and the bathrooms cleaned and I think that I will get a pork roast in the crock pot for supper tonight. Oh of course Hockey tonight and it will be do or die for our Bruins!! That is all I will say about the game, still upset with the officiating from the last one, but what can you do??

Chris - I am ecstatic that you are finally getting the summer weather that you so deserve!! :bliss: How fun to attend the Sanctuary and got to see all the baby animals!! It must have made your day!! Too bad that the rain will be back with you tomorrow, hopefully the weather man is wrong!!

Nancy - Cheer loud for our Bruins tonight please!!! I think we are going to need all the help we can get!! I bet you are really hoping for a game 7 too!!

Kay - What a beautiful place setting and yummy meal!! What crazy temps you are having! Hope that it just stays halfway between freezing and Horribly hot!! Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Jean - Hope you will be cheering for the Bruins tonight too!! Sounds like we are having a similar day with laundry to do and I feel the lack of energy too! Not sure that the bathrooms will get cleaned.

Ok I am off to put in another load of clothes and check to make sure my jelly has set. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!! I hope you all get to do something fun today!

Hi all - It mid afternoon here and I have been very lazy. Got out with my DH for a lovely walk with Luther. Came home and just came in from sitting in the sun and reading a book. It is just bright blue skies and nice breeze and 75 degrees. In fact had to sit in the sun as the wind in the shade is cool. But I put lots of sunblock on so should be okay. Luther even came out with me but he laid in the shade on the cool grass. My DH had been having a moment of spring cleaning and it is nice to see but he making cooking tonight hard as I may have to clean before I can cook and that makes me angry. I will be having tapia for dinner tonight. And I am also just waiting for hockey. My son finally got HULU working and I watched one episode of the Hand Maiden and as good as it is it is such a depressing story I am not sure I will watch more. So I then switched to Killing Eve. What a switch that was. I am up to episode 6 but it is not something I can watch at night. Luckily though I feel that I am not rich enough or influential enough to catch the attention of any assassin. LOL The lead actresses are amazing and I can see why Sandra Oh won an Emmy. Fortunately there was the AHL championship game on so I could watch that and it was good. Now I am just waiting for tonights game.

Chris OMgosh I think this is one of our top 10 weekends. Sunny and cool and low humidity. Just lovely. Glad you all had a good time at the animal rescue. Must have been fun seeing all these babies. Enjoy the yard work!

Kay your food presentation is so pretty. I have gotten more like Chris as most of the time my boys are home way after what I consider dinner time. You just never know about traffic or mass transit in NJ. Sometimes I wonder why I cook. On Friday I cooked and they were both home early. I called them to say dinner was ready and I had plated my food and eaten it before either of them would come into the kitchen to eat. I find that so infuriating but I cook because I need to eat! My sister in AZ said they had the best May in years. Her temps are just now getting into the 100s. Hope your weather is good and not too hot! Hoping back gets better each day!

Jean so glad you weather is good too! Yes I saw the Yankees lost again. Poor CC wonder if he will ever get 250. But glad your team is doing well. Yes we will all be watching hockey.

Trudy yes I will be watching hockey and yelling! I know you know how I feel about officiating. I feel I rant about it a lot lol! Making your own jam - you go girl! And congrats about your neighbor wanting a painting. Do she have colors she wants you to use?

Have a great day all!

Finally have a few minutes to get in here to post. Managed to finish a LO for Anna's lift this morning. I had done all the sketch/masking/framing on the photos last night before heading to bed. Had to figure out the perspective angles on the photos and then add all the other details today. Barely had time to get it uploaded to gallery before it was time to leave for church. Yes, it is another HOT day... suppose to get to 90+ again. The A/C was on high at church and I was in a dress... and got chilled. Now I know to take a light jacket/shawl with me during the summer. I am back in shorts and tee now that I am home again.

The back is slowly improving.. but no vacuuming or sweeping as that will trigger muscles spasms. Hope I can do a light sweep in the kitchen late Monday. Just realized that I also have the church's seniors potluck luncheon on Wednesday so have decided to make a huge pot of sloppy Joe's for both Tues RH lunch and the church's lunch. I have enough meat and buns so I am good to go on that.

Chris, thanks for thinking of me with the link to the chair cushion. Since my back problem was caused by lifting too much and walking too much in one day, I don't think I need to get the cushion. I have had 5 back surgeries so know what and what not to do when it flares up like this.

Trudy, glad your neighbor wants one of your paintings. They are so beautiful!!! Wow, homemade blackberry jelly!!! My mouth is watering. I am sure the kids will love it.

Jean, my grandmother had some depression dishes... my younger sister got them when Mommie passed on. I know you appreciate having them to use. I normally use my corelle dishes for my meals as they can be popped into the dishwasher. The dishes in the photo are part of a set if china that my aunt hand-painted. They have to be hand washed so I only use them on special occasions.

I am ready for a nap... stayed up late (11 PM) working on the Anna lift layout. CYl

Hello girls,
L O L the laundry smiley is most popular this weekend. I'll use it too, because ta-da we have new washing machine :washing: ! I think I was mentioned that this mont dad work in another town. So he saw sell and bought it. The old one have her own temperament, as I insist, but others complain that she don't work 'normal' (don't worry I saved her and will continue to use it at the cat house ;) ) . Dad came home and start call to his friends for someone to help him to bring it inside. He calls to seven people, 2 are on work, 3 out of the town, 1 don't pick up the phone, and 1 with broken leg, . So we has no way except mom and sis to help him (I was busy at that moment), to move old one out, and the new in. He lifted the heaviest part and the distance is not too long, but still it was difficult.
I want to believe in insisted equality, and some women probably are able to do that without complaining (on my mind comes three very muscular ladies which I know), but this just aren't us, it was too heavy and have also part two when have to instal it. I hate to feel helpless!!! From other side I know so many unhappy married women, that better to hand-wash only, instead to put up with that!!!
Note to myself (and all women) buy one of these Material Handling Equipment carts!

Chris, the Animal Sanctuary is a lovely place, which I would love to visit too! I know for only one at my country, but not sure they are opened for visitors or only for volunteers. Such a wonderful story for the cow that escaped and gave birth! How nice that they allows you in, even not in a schedule yet! I'm so happy that you spent so interesting your weekend! Oh yes, you are remember correctly the pics of Cait and Karen the Pig is one of most fabulous photos I'm ever seen!
I dreamed for two goats and two ponies, but the way for pasture is so complicated. Also it's too difficult to be financed and wants lots of works with institutions and documents. But mostly these are excuses for my laziness, as my neighbours are still sheep farmers! Oh, I saw your Halloween layout and it's so cool! Bravo, for you do not comply with the relate time! I already missed few good ideas this year, because didn't found way or time to release them into the concrete month.
Oh, by the way I'm a little sleepy yet and read your first row as: ''I hope that all of you are wake up as pretty like I am.'' :cosmo  . Cute!

Jean, I'm into the club of not very energetic at hot day too! Even I'll change my graphic to sleep in day and be active in night time or I'll melt, I'm pretty sure :p !

Trudy, this jelly sounds very yummy! Hooray and bravo for another painting sale!

Kay, so pretty table and I love laces! Still not learn how to make them, but it's on my list! Happy to hear that your back is better! Sounds as you plan huge party this week, have fun!

Nancy, you described exactly the weekend I love to have, hope that you are enjoying to it too! By the way my favorite at the voice didn't win  . Don't forget to tell me who's the next guest at songwriting show, please!

Hugs and kisses my dears! Better go!
