*insert obligatory "where did the month go?" observation*

(seriously, where *did* the month go????)

On a good note, I am feeling somewhat better physically, pain levels are going down to my typical levels. It stinks that I will probably never have a 100% pain-free day, but I will take where I am at now happily. I am feeling a bit better mentally too. Again, not great by a long shot, but more determined. It sounds crazy but going to the protest today helps so much. It really helps me feel like I am doing something albeit only one small voice. Lots of small voices can join to make a loud chorus. :sing:

I was so smart to go to the small grocery store. I would still be wandering around the construction zone Shop Rite if I had gone there. Gary and Cait went down to the shop to bring her car back when I got home. Then they come back in a little while-- the battery had died and the shop put it on the charger but it was going to take more than an hour to charge. So they had to come home, and then went back out a little while later. While they did that, I finished my protest sign and started to gather what I am going to need- sunscreen and a large water bottle. Then I went outside to do some weeding. I saw this tiny little toad, was smaller than a stink bug. So I was talking to it a bit. Gary shouts out of the window, "who are you talking to?" and then laughed when I said "a tiny cute toad!"

I also had a couple of good ideas for Caitlyn and Gary. And *drum roll* they worked! It is going to be 90* today and Gary is going to be working on the car, so I suggested that he put a tarp up to keep some of the sun off of him. We have a tent canopy from when we would go camping that I had forgotten that we had, but he set that up so that should help a bit.

Then, Caitlyn needed to weigh Muffin so she knew how much baby ibuprofen to give her. Her mammary tumor is now so large, she can't put her hand down and needs to hop around a bit. Her hand/arm is swollen and the ibuprofen will help the swelling. Cait wasn't sure how she was going to keep Muffin on the food scale. I suggested to keep her in her tissue box. The girls *love* to snuggle in a tissue box and it was super easy to weigh that first, let her climb into it again and then put that on the scale.
*pats self on back* :first:

I have to reward myself when I do good since I tend to forget all of that when I am down on myself like I had been this past week.

I hope that all of you have a great day and weekend!!!
xoxo

I am so excited!!! I just got an email from the organizers of the March-- they had to move the destination spot because it got too big for the initial spot. Over 200 people have RSVP'd. Yes!!!!

Nancy- good for you for having High High Hopes. I am much happier when I have hope. I cannot believe that the NJ govt might shut down again. At least I hope Murphy will be smart enough to stay off of the state beach. ha!! How awesome that your DS offered to buy dinner.

Trudy- I am going to have to look at your journaling challenge and see what I can do with it. I am still struggling with the new process and it is too easy for me to let them slide.
Sorry that it will be raining for your long weekend. I spoke to my mom yesterday about going to PA and we are going to look at schedules and car availability soon.
great news that Mason is doing better and is having fun showing his missing tooth :D

Rae- if you don't see this before you leave, just know that I am so so sooooooo happy for you and Jen. It is a really good idea to get away from it all even for just a day or so. I hope that you can relax and enjoy yourselves! Tax is going to be so happy too :pupkiss:

Jean- Hope that you are able to stay cool today!

Morning everyone! It is cloudy and grey out there today, seems every time we try to get the front porch stained the weather just never cooperates :mmph: Oh well I guess DH can still powerwash in the rain. All the outside of the windows need to be cleaned as well, I have done the inside, so now its DH's job to clean the outside. Poor guy, he gets all the crappy jobs! For some reason he really enjoys washing the windows :loco: Coffee is tasting very good this morning, so I might have to go get another cup soon! :cof3: Yesterday I got my laps in and the pool was nice and quiet. I would imagine that it will get busier now that the kids are all out of school, although most of them will be in the other pool located on the other side of the building. I had a nice facetime with Heather, Hunter and Mason. It was so cute , Mason was showing me his spot where the tooth is missing and telling me all about how the tooth fairy came and gave him Pokemon trading cards for it LOL. He is crazy over Pokemon right now. He was also telling me that he has his suitcase all packed to come and visit with us, its filled with everything Pokemon too! :becky:

Chris - ITA where the heck did June go??? Only thing good about this month being over is that it is now only a few more days until we fly to Paris!! I am getting very excited! Oh and good news from our Son Jason, is that they will be staying one more night here. There house is getting packed up on the 4th & 5th and cleaned on the 6th.
They will be homeless and decided instead of getting a hotel they will come and stay with us, then go to say goodbye to Gary's parents and if the weather is good perhaps get one last swim in at the Lake. So hooray for us we get to see the kids one more time :bliss: They need to get to Salt Spring Island by the evening of the 7th as that is where the kids will be for a week with their other grandparents. Then we will meet up with them at the Airport in Vancouver on the 9th for our long flight to Paris. I am sorry that you are struggling with this new process for the challenges! I hope that you get some inspiration from my page, it turned out way better than I thought it would LOL. I hope that your Gary can get the car fixed for Cait, too bad that the weather is so darn hot to work in! I also hope that the March goes well and that you keep yourself hydrated!! So proud of you for participating in this demonstration! Yes many small voices can make a loud chorus!!

Rae - So wonderful to hear that you are all getting away for a bit! You definitely need the break and so does your DH and Jen! Taz too!!

Jean - I hope that you are able to keep cool in the AC and enjoy reading your novels! Sure hope that the inscription on the headstone is what it should be and that you are happy with the results!

Felis - What a good idea to try to convince your family to celebrate Canada Day! :canada: LOL and yes cake would be a great idea too! There are many celebrations going on all over the Country, however I think some are going to be cancelled out East because of the heat wave that they are getting for the weekend. My DD says it could hit 45 degrees Celsius there, way to hot to be out in the sun! Yes we do the tooth fairy thing here, but I warned my daughter that the tooth fairy should not bring to much in the way of money, because then Mason will always expect to get more from her and money isn't something they have a lot of.

Ok I better get DH some breakfast so he can get out there and start the power washing soon. We try not to get started too early so that we don't disturb the neighbours, but I think most of them are away for the long weekend. Have a great weekend everyone!

good late morning - we were up early so we could get Luther out for a walk before it gets too hot. I worry about the heat of the pavement and sidewalks on his feet besides just the weather being hot. Luther had a good time at day care and came home and really just crashed. They had water play and I think that wore him out. My son brought dinner and then we had another discussion that lasted all night. But it was a real discussion and not a fight. He now understands much better how women do not believe they will get justice when they go to the police but my son too had a point that 100% of the rapes that are never reported will never get justice. I feel like we really made a lot of progress. He gave me a lot of insight into what he meant by dominate. He means it as a man at the top of his pyramid and this could be an athlete at school, businessman, or even a DJ. And they are more attractive to women. He said when he was DJing the girls just threw themselves at him and he was not even the lead DJ. I guess I am so looking at this from my perspective and I just have not come to grips with sex just as sex and love not being needed first. I am an old woman. lol

Chris My DH and I saw an article on a fund raiser attended by Pres. Obama. It was min $10K buy in and max of 230K and he told them basically you cant complain if all you do it sit with your friends and watch CNN without actually doing anything. He is so correct and so Chris I thank you for actually being out there doing something. And I really do think that all this will help this country. Hope Gary has good luck with fixing the car! Cant wait to see photos of the rally!

Trudy I am not surprised you and your MG will be busy this weekend! Have a great Canada day! Also Free agent frenzy! It will be interesting to see if the Devils do anything.

Rae sounds good that you are going to spend time at the trailer. I am sure that Taz will be so happy. It will be great to refresh yourselves. Hope the hospital does their job while you are away. Enjoy!

Jean well we are getting the humidity today! Yesterday was okay as it cooled down at night but today is more humid for sure. Enjoy the meeting and the AC. May the time at the cemetery be a lovely time for remembering the good.

Felis spoiler for those that are reading or going to watch 13 reasons.
She never had sex with the boy before he raped her in the hot tub. The way the show portrayed it was he told his version of the events by actually claiming the words Hannah used on him to stop him from having sex with her. I don't think that Hannah can be seen as anything but a messed up teenager. She was bullied and raped but she never went to those who could possibly do something - her parents but her father had let her down or the school guidance. I the TV show they show at the end of each episode a website where those in need can find help. In season two it continues and the tapes I do think they helped those left behind understand and I do feel a lot of them came out better.

Felis have fun weekend and start to the summer.

Have a great day all!

Is a busy weekend for mom and myself with lots of things that need to be done around the house and yard. ;) (Even if this sounds you familiar, I'm not copy it. :nono: ) It was long day with much of weeding, but also cake, coffee and laughter! Now then rain finally stopped will have much work to do, so today we just started. It's more fun to do it when others have plenty of free time and are in good mod.

Chris, I hope they will allow you to visit these children and to lift they spirit a little bit! The other woman told that they are need interpreters, but you mentioned you are big group so I hope will have enough of them! Hug the poor kids strong!
Great that you are been able to help with Muffin, hope she can feels at least a little bit better! I'm sure boys will have fun to 'play' with the car, it's a favorite hobby here. Is toad is kind of frog? I love them all!

Nancy, !!! Another spoiler from 13 reasons!!! at the book Hannah go and let him to ... umm, you now, was her initiative. It was kind of self punishment because didn't prevent the first victim, but she go alone and didn't tried to stop him at any way. Which totaly disgust me from this girl. Looks like in the TV series is diferent. Oh, I really need to watch it!
I'm kind of jealous about these good conversations that you have with your son. It's something really priceless. We have saying " truth is born at the dispute". At least he gives you men point view. You are old fashioned as me and I like that, but he is right the modern morality is so strange. And even more complicated is that on the same territory lives different ethnic groups with different worldview. It's not like Jane Austen book when every are shy or Hemingway book where all is about fun and freedom, now all is one crazy mess.

Trudy, we had a biscuit cake and celebrated Canada Day with you ;). Here weather was lovely, sunny but not hot. Aww, Mason is so sweet! I agree with you that fairy is better to bring gifts than coin. So the Pokemon are actual again?! My sis has a big collection of comics and toys when we was kids. Hooray for the few more days with yours other kids!

Jean and Rae, :hello: have a good time!

Yesterday every thing was fine at the cemetery on a beautiful day. It was sad but good in a way to be able to touch the inscription of cousin's name and dates, finally sure this is the final place. I took photos and made a montage of them to show how pretty it is there along with the inscription. We sent that off to family and friends and hope it helps them too. This afternoon I did go to the historical society to look at a few of their manuscript collections. The genealogical committee puts out a monthly newsletter that includes info on one of them each month. We need to write about more as we're running low on one's done by another lady who has passed away. And it was cool in there too! Not enjoying the heat here but so far not too bad.

Felis, your day sounds perfectly lovely with yard and family fun. Tomorrow I'll have to remember to celebrate Canada Day too. (see Trudy, it's catching). It would also have been my mother's birthday. You asked what I'm reading and I can say I'm reading a book, The Unquiet Grave, by an author I really like, Sharyn McCrumb. They feature Tennessee mountain folklore and other areas like that. My favorite was a long time ago called "She Walks These Hills." I have to say I got the cousin to read that one and she wasn't impressed, so not to everyone's taste. They aren't exactly mysteries, but she also writes more traditional ones.

Chris, here's hoping the march went well and you got positive vibes from it as you sure need them. Love the helpful ideas you gave for the tarp and box. Super you!

Trudy, hope DH got the outside washing done and you all get some nice time this weekend, and hurray for one more time with those grands. And Paris time is almost here!

Nancy, you are so good to have that kind of discussion with DS. Hope Luther is doing well in the heat.

Rae, thinking of you all getting in some good times at the trailer.

Happy Sunday! Good morning the O-zies! You will all be very happy to hear that my spirit and soul are mostly restored. Physically, I am tired but I can deal with that, it is when my heart and soul hurt that I find I truly struggle.

The March yesterday was one of those times that it felt good to be American and a citizen of the world. The March ended up having over 400 people. It was crazy watching the people pouring into the park where we gathered. 400 people in a little village in NY. We chatted with some of the people as we waiting to get the official step off. So many people shared similar stories of losing touch with family members and friends who have shown their true colors being ok with separating babies and toddlers from their parents. But in spite of the anger and frustration, we felt there was a sense of solidarity and determination that we are not going to be quiet. When we got home, we saw some of the numbers from cities around the country- large matches all over.
It is heartening.

Gary and his Dad worked on Cait's car for 7 hours in 90* heat but they got it working. That was just so amazing. His dad also paid for the alternator which is so helpful to Cait since she put so much into the car already. They were both covered in grease and sweat, head to toe.

Today is going to be another really hot and humid day. Wish I could go to the lake and sit in the water. But instead, I am going to work outside a bit and then I have a bunch of things to do here since it is the first of the month.

Wishing all of you to stay cool! ::grouphug

Good job getting your laps in I had to post my Friday personals and wasn't able to finish, so Felis- I didn't forget you
I hope that you are able to enjoy a long weekend! It is always good to have a little extra money n your pocket. One of the really good thing about this matches is the huge number of people coming out. And on top of the matches, the organizers are working on voter registration. They had a booth for that yesterday so anyone who isn't registered could do that right then and there. The Parkland kids (from the school shooting in February-- and how pathetic that I have to say which shooting by the month it happened??? ugh) are on a country-wide bus tour for rallies and voter registration drives. These things will make a difference.

Trudy- that is what happens to my FIL when he wants to stain his deck too, it never seems to match up the time that he has and the weather staying dry.
Coffee always tastes good, hope that you were able to sit and relax with it. :cof3: That must have made your heart smile, hearing Mason tell you that he is all packed and ready to visit even if he is mostly packing Pokemon cards. hahaha!!!
I am so happy for you about your trip! I cannot imagine how excited you must be. And even better news that you will see Jason and the kids again, yippeeeeeee!!!

Nancy- how is Luther holding up in the heat? It probably won't surprise you that is doesn't seem to affect W at all.

OMG- how cute that they have water play at doggie daycare!

That is awesome that you and DS had such a good talk and discussion. Sometimes I find myself being close-minded with Scott since he has a Libertarian streak in him that I don't always agree with. But when we talk and not fight, I do see his points, even if I don't agree with them in the end. Good for you to be able to do that.
I was so happy to see such a wide range of ages at the march. There were some very "seasoned" marchers, but a lot of young kids and adults, and parents who had babies and elementary school age kids with them. I was talking to a few kids who must have been between 4-7 and they were so proud to be taking part and showing me the signs they made.

Felis- that sounds like a perfect day-- yard work, cake, coffee, and laughter! Wish I could have been there too!
The toad is like a frog, frogs are in water and toads stay on land. Scott said that we have a lot of them in the backyard and brought one in to show my MIL yesterday. So darn cute!

Jean- it is a good feeling to have closure, sad but peaceful. I am sure that the family will be very happy to see your photos.
Gary showed my ILs some of the family trees he has been building on Ancestry. He is doing what he can with just the free site and when he has time, his dad is going to get him the 6-month membership to admin all of the info he has with the families.
yes, I got very positive vibes from the march- feels good to do something -- *anything*!

love to all!

Happy Canada Day to all of my Canadian friends and those who wish they were Canadian Citizens LOL :canada: (you know I wish I could adopt you Chris!) It looks like the weather will be a bit nicer today, so much better than the heat wave that Heather and her family are getting in Ontario right now. Way too hot!! Heather told me that everyone on her street had the pools set up for the kids and they were all trying out each one, it sounded like a fun way for the kids to stay cool. A new month and a new chance to start to improve my scrapping mojo. I started a page already this morning and will hopefully get a chance to finish it and get it posted today. New Challenges too here at the O and I hope that you all get a chance to get one or two of them done soon!

Chris - I am so happy to hear that you are feeling better in your spirit and in your soul also! It must have been so uplifting to have been involved in this huge March! You would have been proud of us here in :canada: also as there were Marches all across our country also, even in the pouring rain in Victoria! Glad that your DH and FIL were able to get Caits car working again and for it to be paid for is such a bonus! Ugh 7 hrs in that heat, those poor guys! I bet they needed a nap and a good shower! I hope that you are all able to keep cool somehow today and just enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Nancy - Yes DH and I will be watching for the Free Agent Frenzy! It will be interesting to see who goes where! What a great talk you had with your son! I love having those discussions with my son also, although most of the time we are on the same page about things. It is always good to hear their side of things! I hope that you are able to keep Luther cool during this horrible heat wave that you are all having, so nice that you are concerned for his paws getting burned on the hot sidewalks and pavement too! You are a good pet owner!
puppy-kisses-smiley.gif

Felis - What a fabulous way to spend your day with your family! Yardwork , cake, coffee and laughter the perfect combination! I hope that the rest of your weekend is just as lovely! Yes Pokemon is very much alive, at least it is in Mason's neighbourhood LOL. My grandaughter Sadie was telling me that a lot of the kids at her school were very much into Pokemon too, but that she did not find it interesting herself.

Jean - I am happy to hear that all went well with the visit to the cemetary! How lovely to be able to know that the final resting place is lovely and for you to send the photos to the rest of the family was very considerate! I am sure it will bring them some comfort! Sorry that you are not enjoying the heat, seems everywhere but here is so very warm. I hope that you are able to be in air conditioned comfort again today!

Ok I have to get my page finished and post my page for my challenge today too! Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Good morning, ladies. We spent the whole day in town yesterday and everyone got their shopping done. D got new shoes, I got 2 jackets and some shirts from the consignment store. I was able to find a purse and running shoes too. J got some work-out clothes and a new purse. We got lots of groceries as the trailer hadn't been stocked up for the season yet. We went to Whole Foods which was fun as they have a lot of paleo/low carb foods. They have an amazing salad bar so I got a few good salads to have with our grass-fed beef burgers for dinner. I wish our grocery stores carried organic grass-fed beef. The price was less than the cheapest regular ground beef at home.

We watched "Game Night" and "Girl On The Train" and had fun. Today we will go home, unpack and then head up to the hospital for the afternoon.

Chris - so glad to hear you are feeling in better spirits. Glad the guys got the car fixed. Must have been so miserable in that heat.

Trudy - your trip is just around the corner, so exciting.

Felis - how sweet to celebrate our Canada Day :)

Nancy - hope you all survive the heat and Luther does ok in it.

Jean - saw one your heritage pages, so lovely.

I'm getting off the computer now. My laptop is wonky, as I type it skips position around my post and deletes words and messes it all up., e Its taken me forever to type this out as I have to keep redoing it, putting words/sentences back as it deletes random parts. I've had someone look at it before but they couldn't figure out what was wrong.

Have a wonderful day,everyone.
