Happy weekend, Oooos!

I hope that you all got to sleep in and have a lazy day ahead. I know that Trudy does. Not! :D
Right now, my house is quiet but in another half hour or so it's going to be full of action as soon as the kids wake up. Scott's car is mostly packed they just have to get the food out of the fridge. I am off to the pantry this morning - I'll be out of their way. My kids are planners and organizers and they both get a little stressed when there's a lot going on. At least Sam and Tom will help, there was a time when there were some unhelpful people around who would have breakfast and talk while Scott and Caitlyn did all of the work. (good riddance)

I was able to get a lot of housework done yesterday, mopped, vacuumed, dusted, and scrubbed. Then Gary cut up a watermelon for Cait and dripped all over the floor. Didn't I tell ya? Hahah! :mopping:

Other than the FP, I have no big plans. Doesn't look like rain, so I am going to have to water my plants. (Now, no rain in the forecast until Thursday. :( )
That's about it. W is whining at me to go out so I better do that.

@taxed4ever Ooooh, how incredible to see the eagles with their babies. My third scientific discovery request is to have your eyes take pictures, insert a microSD card into your brain and download everything to your computer. I have all of these great ideas and yet, no one is working on them. Why not, smart people?? :giggle4:
Can you get a waterproof case for your phone? Scott had one for his old phone and it worked- he dumped it into streams more than once when he was hiking.
I am sorry to hear about your HS friend, hope you are able to go to the memorial.
That is what I said to Caitlyn about hiking and dogs. I'll have to put my backpack in the car the night before so they don't see it. Or- just spitballing here- I could tell them no...
Here is a little bit of (very hypocritical) advice: Don't stress over your house. Your kids aren't going to notice or care if the doors are painted.
Fine. Laugh at me for that. I get it. But you know it's true even if I don't take that advice myself :D

@bcgal00 Darn, your new home sounds absolutely perfect for you other than the medical care. And that is pretty important. From what little I know of the Canadian health system, each province runs it differently. Are there minimum standards that each is supposed to have? It seems like you have had a hard time getting appts and treatment since you moved.

@Cherylndesigns aren't dogs so darn smart? Whisky knows the difference between Caitlyn's going shopping sneakers and walking sneakers and only barks for the walking ones. Daisy has those eyes too and don't you feel guilty when she gives them? LOL

I think I am going to get the Jergens Glow. I have to suck it up and just do it. You'd think I was procrastinating about making an appt to get teeth pulled sheesh.

@vickyday So sorry that you have to do The Prep. I was thrilled that my Dr suggested I do the at-home test but if they are looking for an answer for your stomach issues, that wouldn't be an option. That's a lot of tests coming up- hope everything goes well. How have your head and stomach been lately, any better?

The first time I did the prep with the Miralax and Gatorade wasn't too bad, so I'm hoping it is the same this time. Seems like I'm taking even more Miralax, though. We shall see! My stomach issues are working back up to nauseous-ness a lot of the time. I really think it is probably my bowels not emptying correctly that causes the issue. I think that is probably why the Family doctor wants me to try Linzess. We shall see. The headaches still come and go. I have a slight one this morning. We rode the bike last night, so breathing the night air did not help the situation. My sinuses are messed up this morning. I'm sure that is part of the headache problem. I'm trying to blow it all out, LOL!
Sleeping in my bed last night was wonderful! Went right to sleep! And its nice to have my recliner back! But, with her hip situation I'm only happy to let her use it while she is here, knowing it's only for a week, LOL! Same for the bed. Otherwise, she has a homemade contraption that she carried around with her made of boards and a thick foam she would plop down on the contraption. She had to crawl off the floor with that thing! The wood base was in 2 pieces and looked something like this.....--\ /| ..... using the keyboard, I can't make the shelf ( -- ) area up high enough to be even with the slash, but her butt goes into the bottom of the "V" and her legs hang over the shelf. The vertical board on the right is adjustable. She lays it all on a strip of carpet and uses boards as "stops" so the head and foot don't slide out from under her. It is quite the contraption! I need to draw it so you can get a better idea of what it looks like. I might be able to find a picture of it from a couple of years back, too.
 
Happy Saturday.....I think???!! ;). After my sister being here all week my days are all messed up!
I got all of my after-my-sister-leaves-to-do-list done yesterday.....plus I went ahead and did all of the laundry, not just the bed linens and towels. Dishes done.....misc stuff put back in place. Got some scrapping done, too! Mark worked outside all day, mostly helping his X-mother-in-law who lives near us. She still calls him for help and he is always willing.
True story......
Mark's first wife left him when the kids were really young ..... how a mother can abandon her kids I will NEVER understand! They were divorced after 6 years with him having custody of the kids.
While he was single, Mark's first wife's twin sister (who had also been divorced because her husband was a drunk) would babysit for him and he for her when needed. The two of them ended up getting married. They were married for 18 years. She became dissatisfied after all of the kids left home and decided to go back to school. First it was cosmetology, then it was this and then it was that.....she ended up spending all of Mark's retirement in her pursuits. She was still dissatisfied and ended up divorcing Mark. Well, several years pass (they were still seeing one another off and on) and were going to get married again. She had all kinds of health problems. The family would find her passed out in the yard ... something going on with her brain. Anyway, about a month before she and Mark were planning to get remarried, her granddaughter found her dead one morning.
Enter Tim and Vicky.....
Tim was voted in as pastor in 2008 at the church where Mark and his second wife were members. Side note - Mark was one of the men who came to WV to help move us down to NC.
2010 is when she divorced Mark.
2012 Tim is found to have Melanoma. Surgery is done to remove it from his right shoulder/neck area and a lymph. node behind the right ear.
2013 Mark is planning to remarry but she dies.
2013 Tim finds out the melanoma has metastasized. Thus begins all of the trial meds.
2017 Tim dies.
2018 I move in with Ilene.
2018 Through a bunch of weird, God-orchestrated events, Mark and I start dating (this after a conversation that neither of us were planning to remarry). We end up getting married just shy of the one year anniversary of Tim's death.
The rest is history!
That's probably a lot more information than any of you care about. I guess the thing that strikes me the most about that story is how God orchestrates all of the events in our lives in ways that we can't/don't/won't understand since His ways are not our ways and He knows the plans He has for our lives since before the beginning of time!
Anyway.....that being said.....I hope you all have a great weekend and don't take anything for granted!
 
Today I have tax papers to get together and then will start sorting thru some of the bins of misc stuff I haven't unpacked yet. I know most of that will be for garbage or charity but I just have to take the time to sort thru it. I think I have 3 or 4 bins in the storage to look at. Jen and I talked about how easy it will be to pack up and move from this house if that is what we decide to do. There is almost no clutter and everything is so organized here. Her first call to Lethbridge sounded positive, one clinic said to call a few months before we move out and register our name with them. So while we might not get a personal family doctor right away, it looks like we have numerous clinics to go to. The next step is to talk to our real estate agent and see what she says about the market right now.

I need to figure out what to have for dinner. I'll get Remi out to the park later. That's about it for today.

@faerywings medical standards??? ummm....no. As for watermelon, don't get me started LOL. D drips it everywhere when he has it. I have to watch him and wipe up drips on the floor and table. I don't buy it often for him b/c it's such a hassle.

@vickyday Hope you feel better as the day progresses.

I have to go get Remi out so better go. HAGD everyone.

Starting at the bottom - Karen @Kythe Kay posted (updated) in the MIA thread, but that's all I've heard. She did an update a few days ago. She's having some pretty serious issues from the sound of it and itn's even able to stay alone. She's waiting on doctors visits and tests. I just keep thinking that she must not be doing well at all if she needs someone to be with her, bless her heart.

Chris @faerywings we call Daisy's eye "the Doodle Eyes" - she has "the side-eye" perfected too. She knows EXACTLY which shoes are my walking shoes - I have two identical pair and they're different colors, and I only wear the navy ones, because the beige ones are old, but she knows. They say dogs are color blind - wrong. The other "key" is if I go into the bathroom and put on lipstick. She stands and peeks around my bathroom door like "Well, now I KNOW she's going". :floorlaugh: The other "eye thing" is when she does something she knows she shouldn't have, there's "the guilty eye". She will NOT look at us. All we have to say is "Did you........?" turns head as far as it will turn. They're hysterical.

Hey, just bite and bullet and get the Jergens already!!! I've been using it for well over a week now and especially in the "parts" that don't get exposed ' like my upper arms and my upper lets. Adrienne said she could really tell a difference today. I don't have any streaks and there's no odor. I'm going to jump to the darker shade after I get through this tube - I think I'll be ready for the next darker shade by then. Get some of that L'oreal True Match Lumi Glotion - Adrienne had me get #902. Do it!

Vicky @vickyday what an interesting history of you, Mark and your lives. I enjoyed reading it. Chuck and I had very intertwined lives and didn't even know it - mostly it was between both of our families, starting with my grandmother, who was best friends with a woman (my husband's future sister-in-law's grandmother). My sister is actually named after her. Chuck's same future sister in-law babysat for us, and Mom and Grandma made her wedding dress - I was the flower girl in her wedding and Chuck was the Best Man - he was already in General Motors Institute, and I was 6. LOL It goes on, but family stories are interesting, that's for sure. Obviously, many years passed, but our families' paths continued to cross and obviously our paths crossed again later.

I sure hope the doctors can figure out what's wrong with you and that you start feelig better soon.

Trudy @taxed4ever I missed the post about your friend from HS. I'll try to go back and find it. How exciting to see that many eagles. They've been sighted on the property, but I've never had the good fortune to see one. We have those magestic hawks that soar around all the time and could pick up a small dog. Their wingspan is SO huge and I love to watch them soar around. They have a nest up by Adrienne's house and we see a lot of them.

Really quick - yours truly got up early this morning and went to the Farmer's Market with the girls. First stop was Stargucks of course to get our "jolts". We had a great time and I brought Chuck some delicious bread home - he's already had two big slabs and I had to taste it. It's SO different and heavy. I also got a Citronella plant - I'd been looking for one, but they had a bunch there. Also got some local honey with the comb inside and got Chuck some pickled carrots - they smelled amazing. I got some more salve for my hands - the same vendor was there, and I was almost out. She told me to email her if I ran out. I was going to go out and tie the tomato plants up to some poles, but it's raining now. I hope the ground is nice and soft later so I an do it then. I forgot to tell you girls that i have beans coming up!! I got Kentucky Bush Green Beans this year - they're looking good.

Good evening all! It has been a very good couple of days.

Got a call from the doctor yesterday. From what they see on the CT, it looks like I don't have any significant artery blockage so no need for bypass. Because I am 65, they think that I am a good candidate for a TAVR. What that means is that they can put in an artificial valve going through a vein in my wrist rather than sawing open my chest and putting me on a heart bypass machine for several hours while they repair the valve. The first people that had diagnosed the valve issues said that because I had a bicuspid valve, I wouldn't be a candidate for TAVR. Mayo however says that has changed in the last few years and they have no hesitation about doing a TAVR on a bicuspid valve. Really, I don't know what I'm talking about except that recovery from a TAVR is much easier than the recovery from Open Heart Surgery. They will still need to do a heart catherization before knowing for sure but they gave me two choices...go straight to the cath or meet with the team of doctors first and then do the catherization after we've discussed it. You know me...I want all of the information so I chose the meeting first. They also asked if I had any vacations that we should work around this summer. I said I wanted to wait for Syd to be back in the country and I'd love to take a trip in early August to Iowa. They said no reason to not do both of those things! So, I will tell you that I was happy dancing :cucumber: yesterday.

Got up early this morning for sunrise and drug Shaun with us. It was cloudy so a very different experience than Monday but it was still beautiful. The pelicans were flying over in full force, looking for their breakfast. We tried out a new place for breakfast after the beach. Then I came home and took a nap and went back to the beach for my first time at the Ladies of Flagler Book Club. We ate lunch at a little restaurant and there were 14 of us...3 of us were first timers and the woman who started the book club two years ago is from Iowa. We have a friend in common back home.

While I was at lunch, Brian moved some of my flowering pots to the side yard so I can see them out the window when I'm working. So as I sit and type, I'm looking at orange hibiscus and red and pink lantana, plus a firecracker bush and my succulents have a big orange spike growing out of it that I've never seen before.

We are heading to moonlight over the ocean at one of the state parks in a couple of hours so that will end this very busy day. Syd is at the North Sea and sent pictures of the sun setting there. Less than 2 weeks now... I'm really, really excited.
 
@faerywings I can't even begin to tell you how disappointed I was when I read that the guy that was pointing a gun at some woman's head lived less than 8 minutes from me. Seriously...what is up with all of these idiots that get so freaked out when someone turns around in their driveway?!!! I'm completely and totally sick of this!

Wasn't this the camping trip last year when Scott and Sam decided that they were dating? Or is there another camping trip later in the year? I love that they do this as a tradition and I love the way everything has turned out for them!

@vickyday I love that you shared the timeline with us of your marriage to Mark. God does work in very mysterious ways. And even when I look back at things in retrospect and it is so obvious, lots of times it isn't obvious at all when it is happening! Hope that you get some answers with everything going on with the colonoscopy. If nothing else, I hope it rules some things out!! Nope, a drive under 9 hours isn't bad for your sister. When flying goes well, it seems like a much better approach but nothing really goes well with flying any longer.

@Cherylndesigns loved seeing the photos of Ash with his awards...and just kept grinning knowing that he will be close enough for next year's awards that you can go see him receive them. All of the talk that all of you ladies are doing about eagles. We had a nest for a couple of years just down the road from us back in Iowa. It was the road that we traveled several times a day and they were so exciting to see. Then a couple of months ago, there was an eagle just a couple of houses from our house on the back fence line. I saw pics but not the real deal. But, of course, we had hawks flying over all of the time. Speaking of hawks and eagles, the book that I read for book club was Skyward by Mary Alice Monroe. It is set in the low country of South Carolina in a rehabilitation center for raptors including eagles, hawks, osprey...it wasn't bad. Oh, and yes, I was in the cylinder tube. I shut my eyes and tried to pretend that I wasn't. :rolleyes:

@bcgal00 I am sorry that the health care system isn't good where you are. That is such an important part as we age. Glad that D got through his tests but sure wish you didn't have to think about moving. But, probably good to be thinking about it. What book will you be reading for your book club?

@taxed4ever the kayak sounds just wonderful!! Eleven eagles would have been crazy and watching them teaching the babies would have been super special. I'm sorry about your high school friend, especially right before the reunion!
 
Linda @LSlycord it's so good to hear from you and that your choices might be so much easier than having open heart surgery. I'm glad you're going to be able to weigh your options and YAY for still be able to go to Iowa!!!:dancingelephant:

You're SO sweet to be thinking about Asher being near us next year - I SO appreciate all of your likes and comments on FB. He's my special little guy and I just can't wait for him to be so close to me!! They're shooting for the end of July - so they can be here for the kids to start school.

That's so awesome that you guys are getting so involved with people over there already - the book club sounds neat and any sunrise/sunset is awesoe, isn't it???? There was (before the hurricane) a bar right by the pier on FMB and the band always played "There Goes The Sun" as it sank into The Gulf. It got wiped out, but I'm sure they'll rebuild it. Still so incredibly sad that all of those landmarks are gone - even last time I was there, they were discouraging people from coming to FMB.

They used to have "Eagles Nest Watches" in FL and I'm sure they still do. The local news sent drones up to record the eggs progress every day and of course when they started hatching. It was SO cool to see the daily reports and they always named each egg. I'll have to look up that book "Skyward".

Hope you are feeling more and more settled and I know you're counting down the days til Syd is home. Lots of love and hugs to you and your family. :heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumpred:
 
:brrr: It got really cold overnight. It was down to 42* and is 49* ATM. I hope the kids packed warm clothes. They are in a cabin but there is no heat. I'm sure they planned for everything. I'm not concerned, nope not me. ;)

I made it back from the pantry in time to see them off and Cait texted when they got there. I won't hear a word from Scott until they get back home on Wed, but Cait will text me often. I'm in charge of the rats and she bugs me for pictures of them and the dogs when she is away.
My big project for the next few days is packing up stuff to donate to the Vets since their next pick-up is July 7. I have 4 boxes done and today I am going to clean out a trunk in my closet. So far it's only been stuff that I had gathered a few months ago when I was on that kick, all I did was shove it to one corner of my BR.
My poor plants are getting so dry, it looked like it was going to rain a couple of times yesterday, and then, nothing. pfft.

Other than dragging stuff out of the closet this morning, I don't have anything major going on here. There is a new bagel/sandwich place that opened up in town and Gary and I are thinking we might run out and grab a bagel and see how they are. The shop used to be a bank and they converted it into a cute little bakery. The pics on FB make it looks really nice and they have a sitting area outside with picnic tables and umbrellas. I know, it is so silly that I get excited when a new business opens up but we have nothing much in town other than pizzerias, banks, and liquor stores.

I also have to work on some CT stuff. Keep thinking I have *plenty* of time but you all know how that can get away from you.

Good morning ladies. Up early again this morning but didn't head to the beach for sunrise. Brian has an open house today so I'm going to try to drag Shaun with me to a couple of places to explore! We are also off to try a new church this morning. So definitely still in exploration mode.

@faerywings Syd texts frequently asking for pics of the dogs. Fortunately Andie is feeling much, much better and will be pretty much back to normal...except for the big patch on her chest that is hairless...by the time Sydney gets home. No birds this morning...no idea where they have gone! But no rats or wildlife either. So I can start changing up my feed a bit. I think I'm going to brave the sunflower seed and try to get some cardinals! I hear them so I know that they are around. And they do so love sunflower seed. I think I'm going to add a hummingbird feeder as well. Put it in the same area with all of my little red and orange plants. :welcome1:Like a big welcome sign!

@Cherylndesigns I know how much your family means to you and it just reminds me so much of my family when my parents were living.

Ok...we have a rocket launch in 10 minutes so we need to go watch and see if our backyard is any good to see it!

We still have her crate out and she hangs out in it when we are sitting for dinner. She also "puts herself in jail" when she does something wrong. Makes me laugh because we never used her crate as punishment other than as a time-out when she and Jaida would fight (as in real fighting with teeth) when we first rescued her. But she gets this 100% I Did It Look and slinks in there and peers out of the bars at us. We don't close the door or anything but she'll stay in it until she thinks the coast is clear and we aren't mad.

@LSlycord Oh thank goodness that the valve is able to be replaced through the TAVR procedure. It sounds much less invasive and easier recovery. And even better that the Dr says that you should be able to travel in August. I know still has to be scary but you are in good hands- and you have all of us here with you.
The book club sounds like a lot of fun and a lot of people. What book are you reading?

What a great memory you have--last year's trip was the "unofficial/unlabeled" start of Scott and Sam dating. It became official right before Cait's engagement party, which was in October IIRC.

I haven't read "Golden Girl" - I looked it up on Good Reads and now I want to see if my library has it.

Time to unload the dishwasher and fold some laundry. Gary suggested that we go to the bagel place tomorrow-- it will have less people and we are allergic to people. Ahh-choo. Scratch scratch :rotfl:

@LSlycord Oh thank goodness that the valve is able to be replaced through the TAVR procedure. It sounds much less invasive and easier recovery. And even better that the Dr says that you should be able to travel in August. I know still has to be scary but you are in good hands- and you have all of us here with you.
The book club sounds like a lot of fun and a lot of people. What book are you reading?

What a great memory you have--last year's trip was the "unofficial/unlabeled" start of Scott and Sam dating. It became official right before Cait's engagement party, which was in October IIRC.

I haven't read "Golden Girl" - I looked it up on Good Reads and now I want to see if my library has it.

Time to unload the dishwasher and fold some laundry. Gary suggested that we go to the bagel place tomorrow-- it will have less people and we are allergic to people. Ahh-choo. Scratch scratch :rotfl:

Good morning ladies. I am going to head out for a walk with the camera and see if I can get some pics of the baby ducks. I will get some chores done later and will get a bit of reading done. I am enjoying getting lost in a book again. Right now I am reading The House In The Pines by Ana Reyes. I have started compiling a book club folder in goodreads for any book possibilities. I think I'll have 15+ members and that'll probably mean to about 6-8 show up at mtg. That'll be perfect. Of course, the way things go, I'll probably get about 15 to show up and then will be scrambling for seating LOL. I asked for a heads up for each mtg as to who is coming so hopefully I will be prepared.

I got some pics of the baby birds getting fed by mama in the yard. So cute. I'll have to scrap a page about them soon.

@faerywings Enjoy going to the new bakery. Hope the bagels are yummy. I love bagels (but only wheat-free ones these days).

@LSlycord Good news. Glad that you should be a candidate for a TAVR if needed. That is a much less invasive procedure for sure. (I have a vague understanding of cardiac stuff b/c I was a medical transcriptionist for cardiology for 25 years).

@Cherylndesigns @LSlycord Glad to hear you both liked the book so much. I love the author but having not read that one yet I was hoping I hadn't picked a dud. That would not be a good way to start off the club LOL.

I'm getting dressed and heading out for a few hrs' walk with the camera. HAGD everyone.
 
Good morning all.

We're finally getting some rain. It's supposed to rain on and off all day. We got a little last night, but the plants are all so dry. I've tried to keep them watered, but Adrienne has SO many and it's a full time job to keep them watered. We also have that "well problem" that if any of us forget and leave the water on too long, the well stops producing water. Roger's working on getting city water out here to at least solve our watering problem. It regenerates pretty fast, though. Friday night, I knew somebody had left the water on because there was just a trickle about midnight. Roger said it was him this time. He usually sets a timer, but he went to put water in the pool, and they decided to go out to eat and he forgot.

I hope to get the tomato plants tied to poles today - never got that done yesterday. Ran around instead. Of course, we all ended up at Nancy's Pie Shop for lunch. I forgot to tell you all yesterday. Saturday is "meat loaf day". Yum

Chris @faerywings Daisy and all of our dogs have done the same things yours do/have done. We don't have Daisy's crate up anymore, but it was up for a long time. She always went there if she thought she was in trouble. We also NEVER used it as punishment - that's what they tell you NOT to do. She finally just quit wanting to go in hers, so that was it. I preach "crate training" to anybody who gets a new puppy! We have done that since we got our first puppy, Samantha. I took her to puppy obedience training and they told us to get a crate immediately that it was their "safe place". She slept in hers for years then one night, didn't want to anymore so she slept with whoever was still in bed after that. Haha

Vicky @vickyday good luck tonight. When I had my last one, I went on clear liquids for several days before so that helped.

Linda @LSlycord I hope you have clear skies so you can see the launch. Good luck with the hummingbirds.

Rae @bcgal00 that book will have a very "familiar ring" to it and I know you'll like it. That's all I'm going to say - don't want to spoil it.

I'm going to go and take a look at my CT stuff too - time's a fleeting - it's June 4th already.

Too late for that! I fixed a crockpot of roast, carrots and potatoes for Mark and the smell is KILLING me! My stomach is growling!

Your doctor could have given you something for the nausea! If you ever have another one, ask for it. I take Mecklazine when I have nausea. It's for motion sickness'and we get mine on Amazon in a larger bottle. You can get it OTC - it's under the Dramamine brand but it specifically has to say MECLAZINE on the package. The pharmacist will know exactly where to find it. I'd seriously recommend you go get some. Dramamine has dissolve in your mouth tabs, too - not sure if Meclazine does or not.

It was a good day. We went to church and guess what? I ran into one of the ladies that I sat beside at Book Club yesterday. How crazy is that? We have a population of about 100,000 people and I met the same lady twice this weekend! We were going to stop for donuts on the way home but there were about 10 cars in the drive through line so we came home and I made bacon, eggs and pancakes with blueberry syrup. Can't really complain much there!

Then Brian went to his open house where he may have picked up a lead and Shaun and I took a walk through a park where we saw herons and turtles and a gator. It was actually beautiful there. We had the best time...just laughed and laughed and I told him how much my mom would have enjoyed him because she sure would have! She loved to laugh! Then I dropped him off at the house and I went to the Publix to get a prescription renewed and swung into the Wild Bird Store. Came out with plenty of seed and a new bird feeder. :rolleyes:

Then Syd FaceTimed a bit and sent me a photo of the red moon! She has had a cold for a week and I think she is getting anxious to get back home. And that wraps up another weekend.

@vickyday thinking of you this evening.

@Cherylndesigns would not like it when the water dried up. But guess it doesn't happen too often.

@bcgal00 we have just started The Saints of Swallow Hill by Donna Everhart for the July Book Club meeting. It is historical fiction set in the Deep South during the Depression so I think that I will find it interesting.

I'm going to go check out my birthday party duties...and try to get myself lined up for the month of June since I was such a bad CheeryO in May. Have a good week ladies. :grouphugyay:
