How in the world do you get a puppy to sleep past 5am? There has to be a way to do this, and I am determined to figure it out.

With the treadmill out of my bedroom, we moved Jaida's crate in that spot. This way Gary doesn't have to sleep on the sofa in the LR with her.
She is now my alarm clock, just like an infant. 5am, on the dot, she is awake and ready to go potty. When Gary would get up with her, he would keep her in the gated off area of the LR. He would be able to put the TV on, or his computer and keep an eye on her. My computer and coffee pot are not anywhere I can let her roam free while I try to regain full consciousness.

This morning, I tried to put her back in her crate which she wanted nothing to do with *that.* I couldn't let her really keep her in the BR with Ray because she then wanted to play-fight with her. I took her back outside, made sure she pooped then put her in the gated area. I think she has been asleep aside from a few barks at the cats, but this is going to be difficult to do all summer. I like my sleep. But I know Gary needs it too, he has been up with her since we got her. Tag team -- it is the only way to go.

Yesterday was pretty sweet! Busy, but nice.
I was getting ready to go out and Gary told me the news about the Same Sex Marriage ruling. I know that we keep the Ooo's a political free zone, soall I will say about it is that it made me happy.
Right before Gary and I left to run our errands, the car place told us that the "new" car was ready. We picked that up on our way home, and I haven't had a chance to drive it yet, it is really nice. I am kind of (ok, a LOT) jealous! Mom now drives the beater car of the family LOL
The day was capped off with a yummy lunch at the restaurant where Scott works. The place is very pretty, and the food was delish! I had a chicken dish with spinach and tomatoes and a lemon and garlic sauce. Yum! We got to meet Scott's boss too, who comped our coffee and dessert.

The only "glitch" in the day, and it is not really a glitch since we knew it was coming, is that Brendan is getting kicked out again and I think this time it is for good :( He'll be moving in with us for a while, until he can figure what his next move is. He asked why he needed to eat outside on the deck while AHSF gets to eat inside-like a human, which he is NOT!!!-- and AHSF told him if he ever ate inside again he would be the s*** out of him or some similar insane response. And his mother agreed!!!
As much as it is going to be a hard adjustment for us here, how can we let him continue to live is such an environment? It is not in our nature.

Anyway, that is enough of my ramblings (for now). I hope that all of you have a fantastic day!

Nancy- You and your sister are amazing together! What a great relationship you have. Your trip sounds like it will be a blast. Silly question for you... do you ever *not* have a fun trip in the making?
Did the Devils get some good picks last night? Hope that they did so you have some good games to watch.

Trudy- the weather here this weekend is cool and rainy. How weird that our weathers have flipped like this. I am sure that you have been busy but happy to be prepping for the g-kids!
i hope that you get gobs and gobs of amazing photos of the family to scrap when you have time again. I loved the photos of you all on the grass last year. Happy birthday to your sister!

Oh and a happy b-day to your friend too, Shar! I was dropping off an Rx at the pharmacy the other day and was asked my birth date. The woman behind me said that was her b-day too. Lots of us June 26-ers around :D

Your trip sounds phenomenal and I am looking fwd to seeing your LO's of it. Capt Romance is a Keeper! How sweet that he stops for the photo ops. If you ever doubt the money spent on the photo classes was worth it, just think about this trip to remind you that it was.:photo:
5 kids- that is pretty crazy, I can't handle 2 kids!

I have to get Cait up for her babysitting gig.

Hugs and love and coffee for all! If you don't drink coffee, you can give your cup back to me. :tea:

Morning ladies... DH and I are up with the birds, it is our watering morning and we only get 2 hrs so DH is out there already. Our grass is actually pretty green considering the strict watering rules, but if you don't cut the lawn too short it is plenty enough water to keep it looking good. We are off this morning to take the honda in for an oil change and then to Costco to fill up the freezer. Another scorcher of a day here today, it will be nice when we can get to the lake for some swimming.

Chris - Sounds like you have a baby living with you again, not sure what the answer is to getting Jaida to sleep longer? I guess she will eventually just get used to the family routine and be awake when the rest of you are. My Mr. Abu used to be my alarm clock even when I stopped working he thought that I should be up at the usual time and getting his breakfast LOL. It used to make us mad that he never figured out that weekends were made for sleeping in! :becky: Well poor Brendan to be rejected like that from his Mother too!! OMG that is so sad!! He is better off without them!! Thank goodness for your family! At least he has a safe haven to go to until he is on his own. Thank you for being such a great Mom!!! It breaks my heart to hear about children who have no love in their lives
heart-breaking-smiley.gif

Nancy - I also think that your relationship with your sister is so great!! You two must have a blast together! Your trip to Disney sounds like so much fun!! DH and I went a couple of years back and it was still so much fun even without the kids in tow. Hope you are out enjoying the morning and a nice walk or bike ride!

Sharon - I checked out that photo that you took of the guy from your home town! It is amazing!! So cool that you took that great shot with your iPhone!! It sounds like your trip was a beautiful one and that you had lots of good quality time with your grands!! Not sure I would like your solution for the water problem, the sky is amazing in Montana, but there is a big trade off... the winter sucks!! Brr!! Hope you are also enjoying this great summer weather and you are keeping cool as best you can.

Ok better get the eggs cooked for breakfast and get on with this day. Have an amazing weekend everyone!!

good morning - very late morning but I have been watching the 2-7 rounds of the NHL draft. And yes my NJ Devils are doing well. I really like the first round pick a big center from the Czech Republic and then a goaltender and then a forward. My girlfriend who is a Ranger fan is bummed that two of her favorite Rangers were traded. At least the NJ Devils have not done that. Yesterday I got in a good walk and saw a deer, great blue, and an egret. That was fun. The great blue heron was pretty bossy as when the egret landed the great blue would chase him away. Came home and cleaned my bathroom. Not my favorite chore but must be done. Then watched a little of the USA women win against China 1-0. Great defense by the US but they will need to score in the semi against the German team which is ranked #1 and the most offensive team in the tournament. That game is not until Tuesday.

Chris so glad that the day went so well. Good luck with the puppy. My son said his dogs now sleep through the night and it is awesome. They are around 6-7 months. How nice to have your lunch out and that it was so good. Nice of the owner to comp the coffee and dessert. So sorry about Brenden. I always find it sad when a mom does not stand up for her own child against the new husband. It makes me happy that you are there to help! And as for my sister and I - it took us a long time to get past our childhood as my mother always treated me as the favorite and I as a kid used it to get what ever I wanted even at the expense of my sister's needs. We had a huge fight when I was in college and we sorted it all out. I think by then we had both grown up and realized that the we loved each other and the problems were all caused by our mother. Once we did that we have been really close. And yes now that I have developed wanderlust I love knowing that I have another trip to look forward too.

Trudy good luck with the watering. You must be so excited to get to the lake and cool off! And then the arrival of grandkids. Yes my sister and I go to Disneyland in CA. I have the more flexible schedule and I love the desert so I go west. I will let you and Chris know the dates and you can join us. I will be fun. If Phylis wants to come that would be good too and if that is the case maybe I will drive the ladies.

Sharon meeting that photographer sounds so cool! Glad he loved the photo! Hope the heat breaks so you can get back to golf! And you Captain is a keeper!

Have a great day!

Second morning back in my own bed with coffee carafe awaiting me when I woke up.

N I C E ! ! !

Chris, you are reminding me of what I need to tell myself when Captain Romance puts his foot down about no more pets for us! I do NOT miss any of the work and expense that goes along with pets. Plus, we have dear friends with severe allergies, and we travel too much to have pets (it's getting toward $50 a day for dog boarding! and we will NOT ask friends to pet-sit, as we do not want to be pet sitters in return!). I miss the unconditional love of a dog...the cuddles of my cats...etc., but it helps me to focus on the negatives when I start yearning....

As to Brenden.........sigh. This is just unbelievable to me. His mother ought to be horse-whipped! I do not understand women who are so desperate for a man they will sacrifice their own children. It is unconscionable. Then to hear Nancy's backstory about her mom...and my mom as well (center of the universe)... Those of you who have wonderful moms (Chris!), you are so blessed.

I'm feeling overwhelmed with all the computer work ahead of me...photos from the trip; making a few layouts with Romy's new kit (Unique) (a wonderful "problem" to have!!! LOL); and still hundreds of hours of tagging left to do. Glad I don't have a deadline!

With all the sports talk, I have to add that we watched a lot of the US Open (golf) last week, and enjoyed it so much. Sort of a shocker ending that even stunned the winner, Jordan Speith. (Dustin Johnson 3-putted. If he had 2-putted, it would have meant a playoff between the two.) The course, Chambers Bay, is just south of where we live. It looks like a horrible course to me--much like the links courses in Scotland, and there were a lot of complaints from the players. But after all, the US Open is MEANT to be the most difficult tournament, and it is the same course for everyone. Jordan Speith seems like such a nice young man! Hope he maintains high standards for himself. I'm convinced that Tiger Woods' fall resulted from the lifestyle he chose. Golf is half a mental game, and when your head is messed up, your swing doesn't matter.

HUGE sale on LED light bulbs at ACE Hardware right now, so DH is buying them up. He has a "thing" about light bulbs and batteries. I have the same sort of "thing" about toilet paper. We are not hoarders re. most things, but these....well.....

In addition to our heat wave, they are now talking increased humidity, and maybe even thunder storms (as you may remember, a rarity for this area). It was already 75* when DH was out at 9 a.m.

Tomorrow we're going to our golfing buddies' home for BBQ burgers and debriefing (our trip...her golf tournament, etc.) I'm glad they, too, have AC.

Carry on!

How strange to be on the cool, rainy side of the weather divide. Thunder storms earlier have the back yard swimming for now. Wish we could share it with you, Trudy and Sharron. As I don't drink coffee, my cup is headed back to you Chris! :tea:

happy Happy Sunday!

Jaida started whining at 4.00 this morning, but thankfully, she went back to sleep until 5.30. No WAY did I want to be up at 4. Gary was able to sleep past 7am and I know he needs that too. This week, I will be getting up with her so he can recuperate a bit, then we will take turns. Sounds like a good deal.:)

Today is the Family Party for me. Yay. Rah. :yield: Physically, I am toast, which makes it hard to be excited. But deep down, I am grateful and thankful that I have family who love me and want to spend the day with me. I am.

I don't have to do any of the cooking and aside from some last minute cleaning, I don't think I have more to do that that. Gary made his vodka sauce last night, and wow it is good!! Can't wait! Then everyone else is bringing something to eat and I will have more food than I know what to do with! Thank goodness for that because my cupboards are bare. I would make Old Mother Hubbard's pantry look like a feast --ha!!!!

That is about it from rainy and chilly NJ.
Hope that all of you have a fabulous day!

Trudy- that is so crazy about your lawn only being able to get 2 hours of watering. All of the hard work that you do to make it look gorgeous. I hope that it doesn't go brown. :(
Would you believe that it rained all day (still raining a little here) yesterday and that it must have been only in the 60's? It felt more like October than the end of June.
Jaida is like having a baby for sure and it is like Mr Abu was. Built in Alarm Clocks. Mommy, I gotta eat and pee! LOL
Hope you had a successful and not too expensive trip to Costco. Not too expensive?? No other way!

Nancy- great news about the good picks by the Devils. You have a Ranger's Fan as a friend? Is that allowed?? hahahaha!!
Your walk sounded lovely, were you able to get one in yesterday before it down-poured?
That is such a sad story about you and your sister being treated so differently by your mom. But what a happy ending that you two are so close. Oh yes, you will have an amazing time in Disney, would LOVE to join you!! :D

Sharon- Can I borrow Capt Romance for a little bit? Coffee in bed-- swoons! But I am happy, Gary sets up the coffee pot for me at night so all I have to do is push the switch.
I hate hearing stories about moms like yours, Nancy's and my 2 BFF's. Cait tells us stuff that Brendan's mom/AHSF do and say and I feel like i am listening to another language, it is incomprehensible. It does make me treasure mine even more. Even when she makes me :loco: I know what she does is driven entirely by love. She doesn't know any other way. I hope that I am following in her footsteps, and that in due time, Caitlyn (and Scott) will follow in mine and Gary's.
I am in love with Romy's new kit and I bet that you have at least a few pics out of your almost gazillion vaca pics to scrap with. :)
Too funny about the LEDs and TP. I am not quite a hoarder too, but I am like that with body lotion and make up. I can't stand when I get close to the bottom.

Jean- thank you for passing that :tea: back to me, I neeeeed it!!! This weather is bonkers.
I am always curious to how nature reacts to these weather changes. Are you and Nancy noticing different behaviors in birds? I had read an article a while back about migration patterns of birds and how/why different species of ticks are being found in new areas. My LLMD said that Lone Star ticks are becoming a huge issue in NJ.
Good thoughts to you, Jean and I am hoping that your sister is feeling better.

Good day! Today should be interesting. My oldest is having us over for dinner and my youngest does not want to go and of course I am not forcing him. My DH made desert a lemon cake so looking forward to that. Then I have a Devils function that I am looking forward too. A question and answer with the new GM and head coach.

Will catch up more tomorrow!

Good afternoon ladies... it is stifling hot here!! Already 28 degrees by 10am that's 82 degrees for you in the States, ugh much, much too warm for us West Coasters and it is humid, something else that we are not used to. What a bunch of whiny babies we are :becky: I would trade you Chris and Nancy in a heartbeat, just for a couple of days!!

Chris - I hope that your family day is great!! Enjoy every single moment, before you know it your whole family will change everyone growing up and growing older, it is never the same once your parents are gone, especially ones who are loving and caring like yours!! I still miss my parents so very much, but I try to follow in their footsteps and I hope I am half as good to my kids as they were to all 7 of us! Glad that Jaida went back to sleep for you this morning, yes 4am is much to early to be up!! I hope that your Gary is able to recoup this week, a good plan to switch off on the puppy duty! Thanks again for picking up the slack for one of the challenges for July!! You ROCK!!

Nancy - I think that it is so wonderful that you and your sister came to an understanding about your Mother! Sisters are important to have and it sounds like yours is your very best friend!! Isn't it funny how our family dynamics change and your son just wants to do his own thing now and not join you for dinner at his brothers? I hope you have a lovely time at your son's for supper tonight, how great that your hubby loves to bake!! I love lemon cake, wish my DH would bake too, hmmm maybe not, then I would weigh even more :mmph: Enjoy your devils question and answer period with the new guys!!

Sharon - You are some lucky woman!! Your Capt. Romance is definitely a keeper!! Good thing I have a Tassimo machine or else my husband would never get coffee for himself, he refuses to learn how to make coffee the way that I do it. Too lazy to grind the coffee beans I guess
gaah-smiley.gif
sometimes he frustrates me to no end, but then other times I just love him to death!!
flirty4-smiley.gif
. I hope that you have a great time catching up with your friends! So nice that they have AC!! Our heat pump is working overtime to keep up, but it sure is nice and cool in the house!!

Jean - so nice to see you pop in here, hopefully you will be out of the cold and rain soon and your yard will dry up! yes please, send it this way!!

Ok I have some :washing: to get done and then on the hunt to kill some spiders that have decided to take up residence in one of the bedrooms downstairs I HATE SPIDERS!! and they seem to be everywhere right now! Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone!!
