Yay, I am way less cranky this morning than I was yesterday. Thank goodness.
The day was beautiful to have lunch on the deck of the restaurant. Sunny and not humid although we ate under a canopy since my parents don't fare so well in the sun. The kids had me laughing and my parents not only behaved, they both looked good. The last few times I had seen them, they both looked tired and old. They still look old, I guess that is what happens when you are 78 and 82 but they didn't look exhausted.
When we were there, Caitlyn noticed a family walking in and it turned out that one of the kids was an actor in a show we both watch- the actor who plays Sadie/Ben in Good Girls. That was kind of neat!

Today, I am going to be in the kitchen much of the day getting ready for Casino Night. My brother is stopping by mid-morning to say hi. Busy day ahead:)
Have fun!

Hi Trudy! Always good to see you here, @taxed4ever That is the BEST news that you are heading to Ottawa fully vaxed! I bet you are so excited. I know I am. Sound like you are very busy being all creative, that has to be all good things for your soul. Try to say as cool as you can and hydrate. Those temps have to be brutal for your area. Pretty color nail polish!

@bcgal00 The work software has been acting up a lot it seems. Hope you get caught up so you can relax this weekend. Have fun with the pups!

@felis Time is acting very odd for me too. Sorry that you are having a heatwave too. Cait tried some all-natural deodorant and had to switch to a chemical-based one too.
Derek Jeter is a baseball player (retired, I think? I don't follow sports, but Nancy would know) but I don't think he lives there. But we did see a different celeb!

better get rolling, I have so much to do.

TTYS!!!

Sorry I missed posting here yesterday. Had a couple of errands to run... over to the Post Office to mail a few bills then over to the Friends of Literary Bookstore to pick up bookmarks and then drop them off at the Senior Citizen Center. While I was at bookstore, I mentioned that it looked like they had some new DVDs (movies) and I was looking for some special ones. She asked which ones I wanted then went to the back to check. Came back with "Frequency"... and I did a happy dance! I ended up with 7 DVDs!!! Another one I got was "Premonition" with Sandra Bullock. Watched both of them after I got home.

Today is suppose to be the last of the heat wave... only suppose to get to 98*... then a cool wave is coming in tomorrow along with scattered showers off and on for the next several days. An early start to the monsoon season and I will love it. Opened up the house this morning and there is a nice cool breeze blowing - - more like it should be.

Did you see the new Fab Friday Color Play kits??? Wow... had a ball playing with them. Need to finish up a couple of challenges before the end of the month. Hard to believe that June is almost over.

Chris, so glad you had a nice outing with your parents. Sounds like a delightful day eating outside. Can't wait to hear/see what you come up with for the Casino Night. I remember a similar one you did a before. Is the skeleton going to come out and gamble with you all??? LOL....

Felis, I understand how easy it is to let time slip by without posting. Hope you get the roof fixed soon and can get some solar. A lot of people here have solar to help with the electricity use.

Trudy, so good to see you posting. Wonderful news that you will be fully vaxed before your trip. Know you are looking forward to seeing the family again. Beautiful nail polish color! I need to winnow through my nail polish and get rid of the old ones - I am sure many of them are dried up or thicken by now. Haven't used them for a couple of years now. Hmmm... guess I should do the same with the lipsticks, too.

Rae, sorry the work software was acting up. Hope it gets straightened out and you get caught up soon.

Time to go close the house up. CYL

Good Saturday afternoon!

Chris, @faerywings I'm glad you're feeling less cranky today. I've been pretty cranky on a daily basis since I was sick. I'm still stuggling with the crankiness. Glad your parents behaved yesterday and that you had a good lunch. So cool that you saw some celebs!

Kay @BrightEyes stay cool! It's decent here - it was really hot last week, but not so bad the last few days.

You know what I love? SERENDIPITY! I'm such a believer in it - "when you find something that you aren't really looking for and it's exactly what you wanted"? I paraphrased that, but it happened to me yesterday. I've been looking for something to hang over my French doors since we moved in. I mean, looking everywhere. Everything I find is either too narrow and nothing is long enough. Those French doors are essentially 2 doors so the expanse is very long. I was just ready to have a sign made and knew it wouldn't be cheap.

Anyway, Adrienne and I went to this last Antique Store yesterday. We were both getting pretty tired, but we decided to go to one last place. We'd neither one bought anything. This place is awesome (we've been there) and it's huge! They even have beautiful displays outside. We'd been in there for about an hour and a half and both said "I'm done". We were on our way to the cash register (we'd both found a few things we wanted) when she caught this sign up high on the wall and said "Mom, look at that! it's "your sign". She got it down and it was REALLY old - you could tell by the wood. Anyway, here's the sign that she took off the wall.

French-Door-Sign.jpg

We got SO excited and it was in my price range!!! We brought it home and hung it right away. It looks like it was made for our kitchen! Here's what it looks like - I can't stop looking at it!

curtains-open.jpg

So, yesterday's antiquing trip turned out to be a bonanza for me!! I knew you'd all love to see my find.

Hope you all have a good weekend. Hugs all around.

So first, to Chris, Happy birthday my darling! Thank you for being here and keeping the Daily O alive for so long time! In my opinion that's the best part of the scrap world and highly appreciate your passion and effort to keep it run! I'm not sure did you wanted your bday to be mentioned, but Veer already did it, so no escape lol! :p I hope you have a wonderful day and much more interesting and happy year!
So cool to see some celeb, that makes me always feel so more fancy! I'm happy that your parents was acting nice!
Oh, I'm tried one natural deodorant, but it's just not for me. Even the regular not are strong enough sometimes. I mean did someone can really use it only once foe 48hr, especially when you have 2 or 3 shower during that time, yeah.
Don't be to hard on yourself today and don't overdo, get one relax and fun day, please! :) (I miss the hug and champagne smiles, imagine them here).

Kay,

I need to winnow through my nail polish and get rid of the old ones - I am sure many of them are dried up or thicken by now. Haven't used them for a couple of years now. Hmmm... guess I should do the same with the lipsticks, too.
the same here I have whole collection of funky nail polish colors, that I'm not used past 2 years. Ooh, but that no I wear lipstick under the mask at the whole time!
We redo the whole roof at May, but still wasn't approved for more solars, but I really love the water heating one that we got, small step in the right direction!

Cheryl, love that sign's stile! And so fun to be at the kitchen, the place when you will create jam and other goodies when you gets in full mod of gardening fever ;):D! I definitely believe in the signs of fate and that there is not such a thing as coincidence, but energy vibrations on right or wrong level! Actually I spend this month exactly in studying in these things for the law of attraction and how universe give us what we asking for and most needs at the moment!

I had the most pleasant day with long sleep, ice cream and afternoon rain that made the weather to feels so much better! And I was ready to describe you one heavenly day, but then the TV box collapsed and we will not have TV until Monday o_O. Good that Kay was gives me this brilliant idea for the DVD, and I was able to dig one of mine collection of movies, that I barely remember, so the night was saved. Actually the only reason to have it is because Josh Lucas is at the cast, so I'm not watched it 100 times (as Harry Potter), and that made it the choice for tonight.

Been busy lately - not doing anything special, just as I planned: eating, scrapping & crocheting. Watched a quite a bit of TV: hubby & I finished Katla on Netflix last night, saw some soccer + I'm continuing with Land Girls on Netflix.

Dug out and dusted off my scanner too - been scanning a few older photos. I have so very few photos of me as a teen. At least early teens. Late teens I have more, cuz my boyfriend then loved photography. But not many photos from say age 11-15. Pity - I was sooo cool then LOL

Project started cuz I wanted to make a family tree layout using this template:

Needed some photos of my MIL & FIL. Anyone have any idea how it "should" be done. I'm planning on putting John in the bottom, then me and Urban - then our parents. But: is there a rule whether me and my parents should be to the left or the right? Or is it just a matter of taste? Guess I need to google and see if I can find anything.

Happy Sunday! Nope, I am not hungover after the Casino Night festivities. I stayed up very late for me-- after 10 pm. Ha!

What a fun night. We played Texas Hold 'Em and shot-roulette. Caitlyn and I were smart, even though the shot glasses were very small, we filled some of them with water. That also meant you didn't know what you were drinking until you did. I got a few pictures of Caitlyn bartending and one of Whisky in sunglasses. Of course, Braxton (the skeleton) was dressed up and ready to play although we found out that he is a cheater and had a few extra cards under his hat :D

I had a nice visit with my brother, he caught me up on a lot of the things that Christopher is up to. His Travel Baseball team is playing in the Semi-Finals this weekend. He has a busy summer ahead.
Today, my ILs are coming up. They were on a nice long vacation in NC and SC with friends and come home to no A/C. The entire unit is not working and no one is available to come and fix it for a couple of weeks. NJ is getting a heatwave starting today and getting more humid/hot each day. They are more than welcome to hang here but I doubt they would be very comfortable since we don't have lots of room and our window A/Cs don't get the house all that cooled off. Perfect for me, not for people who don't like the heat.

If the weather holds, Caitlyn and Tom are going on a picnic today, Leah came up yesterday to gamble with us (Although she has already taken a big gamble dating Scott for the last almost 9 years hahaha!!!!). I have to clean up the kitchen before the ILs get here and then plan out my week.

Hope you all have a wonderful day, stay cool!

Kay- how exciting to get all of the DVDs. All of the cataloging worked out, didn't it? I bet you will be very happy with some cooler temps and hope that the rains won't be too heavy but enough to keep things cooler and not drought-like. That isn't asking a lot. heh.
Oh yes, Braxton was dressed up- had a hat, sunglasses, and a cigar!

@Cherylndesigns Oh wowowowwow!!!!! I love that sign! Such a good find. It looks *perfect* over the doors. I am happy for you!

@felis thank you so much, sweetie!!! I really appreciate the kind words about the Daily Ooos, that means a lot. You know that I go through phases where I wonder if I should keep this up, but then when you tell me that you appreciate it, that keeps me going. <3
Ugh, that is terrible that your TV broke. Good idea to watch some DVDs!

@scrapinmom thank you!

@tanteva I love your idea of doing nothing. :D I don't have any idea about the sides of a family tree, the only thing I can think of is if they would possibly be the same as the bride/groom sides at a wedding- However you do it, I am sure it is going to look great!

good morning - I have been absent as my SIL from California has been visiting. We had such fun. We went up last Sunday to pick her up in Ithaca. My DH would not follow the GPS so what should have taken 3 and a half hours took closer to 5. Men and directions. Luckily going back to NJ we took the short cut. But the views were gorgeous and we had a lovely drive. We were busy every day except Monday where everyone just wanted to rest. She loves dogs and cats so she had fun with Luther and Shadow. We went out to Round Valley reservoir and Luther got to play in the water. We took the kids out to dinner and that was so fun. We went to Winterthur in Delaware. Omgosh it was so interesting. It is not fully open but they think that by middle of July it will be open. It was not that far. Then Friday went to my favorite birding spot Forsythe NWR. The green eyed biting flies are out and they are so disgusting. But there are still great birds and there were baby ospreys. We were actually able to figure out some of the shore birds. And now the app Merlin ID has a part that lets you record the birds' songs and then the app tells you what bird is. It is so amazing what this app can do. Today the boys are celebrating Father's day with a BBQ at my son's since last Sunday we were traveling. So now I have lots of photos to scrap again. All my travel mates got their Sedona book as did I and I love it. Of course I am watching the Stanley Cup play offs. And my SIL liked watching with me so that was nice. But the Final does not start until Monday night. But my favorite bike race is on for the next 3 weeks, the Tour de France. The first day was filled with crashes. One woman put a sign out in the racers path just so she could get on TV and cause the first major crash, the French police are now looking for her.

@faerywings Chris happy belated birthday. The dinner on the deck sounds lovely. We were so lucky that the weather was lovely. She was shocked on last Sunday and Monday on just how humid it was. Your Casino sounds like the place to be. Enjoy everyone today!

@taxed4ever and @bcgal00 Trudy and Rae hope the heat wave is not too bad. We are having one here on the east coast.

Kay your day sounded busy and how fun to come away with 7 DVDs. I know it is amazing how fast the temp falls as thunder storms roars through. But for me when it is done it is even more humid which can be the pits.

@tanteva Eva I love my town because except for a grocery store we really have everything else within walking distance. And I love walking. We have good mass transit if you want to go into NYC but not so much within each city. When my DH and I worked at the same company we liked to carpool. Those times are nice.

@Cherylndesigns Cheryl I love the sign and I think it looks perfect where you hung it. Hope your weather is not too bad.

Have a great day all.

Oh, Chris... glad to see that Braxton is still hanging around and playing with the family!!! Thanks for sharing the photos. He is a riot!!! Sounds like it was a great night with the family. Woah - those shots must have given people a real surprise! Water or Alcohol??? hehehehe Bet Cait was the one who came up with that twist.

Yes, Eva... your hubby is correct - women are always RIGHT! LOLOLOL

I am reveling in the weather this morning. Woke up at 6AM to 62*. Opened the house up to enjoy the light breezes. Had a brief rain shower and now at 9AM it is still only 65*! ! ! Going out and sit on the patio for awhile this morning and enjoy the coolness. Only suppose to get into the mid-70's for the next several days. Right now the skies are blue with puffy white clouds and I can see the mountain clearly for the first time in well over a month! Guess the rain washed the smoke from the area. The good thing about living in a semi-arid area is that the humidity isn't bad during/after a rain. It just cools the air and everything smells fresh and delightful.

Nancy, so glad to see you pop in this AM. Sounds like you had a wonderful visit with your sister.

Off to get dressed and head out to the patio to enjoy the coolness. CYL

Hubby says (and I'm always obeying him LOL) that the males are to the left of a family tree and the females to the right. It kinda makes sense that women are right, right? :D
That is probably the way to go to be consistent with tradition. I'm used to horizontal ones where male goes above, female below, no surprise there, eh?

Been watching soccer again. Beginning to think I kinda like it. LOL Great to get some crocheting done any roads.

@veer Congrats on Belgium winning over Portugal! Don't know if you like soccer, but it was a great game.

Sweden play on Tuesday against Ukraine. I have no idea how good Ukraine is, but if Sweden wins, I guess it's their last win in this tournament, cuz the winner of Sweden vs Ukraine, will meet the winner in the game England vs Germany.

Happy birthday Chris - I think your birthday was yesterday? I wished you a HB in the forum. Hope it was a great day for you!!

I'm glad you all liked my sign! I was SO excited to find it and it was exactly the length I wanted. I had about decided that I was going to have to have one made. That would have cost twice as much as this one! I love it every time I walk into the kitchen! I also got a cute little "Coffee" arrow metal sign and we just hung it. It's looking cuter and cuter in there.

I bought a cute 4th of July metal sign with "my red truck" on it, but it's definitely for 4th of July. It's out on the porch. I put flags in my flower pot that we added to the front garden. I decided I wanted some red geraniums and we found some very puny ones, but they're in a cute pot and with the flags in there, it looks super cute. I go all out for the 4th of July. Unfortunately, I can't find my wreath and probably don't have the time or energy (mainly energy) to get one made. We'll see. I have a real cute one that I bought last year and it's made out of red, white and blue rags. SO cute! It's in the attic somewhere.
