It's raining cats and dogs out here!
10227831.png

(Of course, you all know that if it were actually raining cats and dogs, I would be smiling LOL)

How was your Friday? I hope it was a Fri-yay like Vicky said last week :) Mine was fine, pretty boring for the most part. J did fine at the vet- fine for her, I should say. She was cowering in the waiting room until Sam came over to pet her and then she was full-on wagging. Her entire body was happy to see Sam. Then we got called to go to the exam room and it was back to cowering again. 66 lbs of muscle and anxiety. :rolleyes1: But I love her.

Gary and I went to the Rummage Sale and he had fun, poking through old tools and electronics. Not my kind of thing but I bought a pack of sandpaper (wooooooo, exciting! /s) and three puzzles. We also got a new whiteboard for Pictionary since ours is so old that even when you use cleaner on it, the old drawings are still semi-visible.
Since it is raining today, my niece's party was canceled. I might make it a PJ day. Other than some tidying in the house I don't have much to do.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Well, I started the day at the beach. I woke up and was the only one awake so I decided to head to the beach. I turned on the GPS and away I went! It was really pretty this morning although it was cloudy enough that the sun didn't break from the horizon.

Then, by the time that I got back home, Brian was drinking coffee on the lanai. Guess who came to visit? The male cardinal. I am so in love with my gardens right now and my backyard spaces. And the sunrise over the ocean isn't bad either. Who knows, I may turn into a Florida girl yet!

I'm off to put up my second bird feeder. Sydney wants to go to the pet store and get Andie a slow feeder. So adventures await!

@LSlycord I hope you are enjoying the weekend and have no big plans other than relaxing with the family.
Sorry to hear that the dentist visit wasn't good.
I am so excited that you are having so many birds and butterflies visit your new garden. I hope that you are able to get some photos of it all. I betis gorgeous.

@vickyday We tried to put some doggy clothes on my girls and W won't sit still long enough and J is too stiff to put them on them. We have tried! Hope your errands and Subway went ok. I felt the same way with Gary at the tool section of the Rummage Sale :waiting:

@bcgal00 I am afraid to ask, but how was the eye Dr appt? *fingers and toes crossed for good news*

@taxed4ever I saw the photo on FB of you on the lake! Talk about glass.
It's hard not to buy stuff at the craft store but it makes you happy so that is a good thing. I worry about the same thing that I will make a repeat of a card but thankfully, I keep them on my hard drive, labeled by the name and year. That way I don't have to rely on my awful memory.

@Nonni F That photo is the best! And the slushie looks yummy, what flavor it is? Bet it felt great going down.
I worry mostly about 2 things, people and money. Just the small stuff. hahaha!! Most other things I can be laid back about, but people-- that's big and pretty much envelops everything when I think about it. :what!:

@Cherylndesigns yay for "spray tans" :rotfl: I bought the Jergans SOL drops and I am not sure if I look tan, I think a little bit. I have to look online to see if there are any tips on how to use it best. My face is small so to use the number of drops for a tan mixed with my moisturizer, it's too much, too wet. I tried rubbing it along my collarbone/shoulder but do I really want to use face moisturizer on my arms and legs? I mean, that would be fine but face moisturizer is more $$ than body stuff.
Oh no, so sorry that your tomatoes are getting eaten :(

BTW- I have to shout this from the rooftops, my lilies are blooming and I have not seen one red lily beetle this season. *knocks wood really hard*
I have been battling those :censored: pests for years now, disgusting yucky buggers. :angry4: I put down diatomaceous earth as soon as the plants started to poke through the ground. The red ones are blooming now, then the white ones will be open in another few days. If it ever stops raining, I will get some pictures, they are so pretty!

HUGS!!!!

Oh I love lilies. Some of my most favorite! And I just found out that they will grow in Zone 9. I will be planting some of those this fall. I also found that iris will grow here and there are a few peonies that will make it here. Yep...my garden will be growing!

Good morning, beautiful ladies. Sending wet hugs from the rainy North East! While I'd love to be outside, I'll take this lazy indoor morning. Working on a tattoo design this morning... well, probably for the last two months.. but, hoping to finish it up. I went from tribal/celtic, to realism, back to tribal now I'm thinking "half and half". I swear the poor guy doing my tattoo might lock the door when I show up. lol It started as wanting a tribute to Ollie because his paw print went so horribly wrong but now I'm thinking just something fun and ME. I started with this....
tribal 1 small.jpg
But, Kelvin told me it would look good on an inner lower arm, but not up at the top like I wanted. Didn't want to ink another arm... just the one with the paw print. So I rearranged it....
tribal 2 small.jpg
He told me that would work better so I was happy...
Then I thought realism, maybe I could use Oliver.
ollie 1 small.jpg
Kevin asked, "Okay, Arline.. what is it? Tribal? Realism? You need to decide."
Ah, no I don't... I decided... half and half....
half and half better mandala small.jpg

But, it's not Ollie's face, which I thought I was okay with removing... now I'm working on making it half him....

Yup! Crazy cat lady, too old for ink... a work in progress. lol

That was a favorite spot at the thrifts for my first husband! We went every Thursday, his day off, and he headed to the electronics and tools. I don't know why because everything he ever "tried" to fix ended up broken! His motto, Fix it til it's broken! LOL! He was a teacher all the way! Mark, however, is quite the opposite! Mr. Mechanic! His motto, If it's broken I can fix it!

Happy SaturYay to all!
I can say YAY because (for now) it is not raining! However, it is cloudy! But the day is brighter than it has been all week....or two! So, it is promising! It stopped raining late yesterday afternoon! Mark says there is still a chance for some later today! Whatever!

Nothing planned for the day. I should start the laundry, but I don't think I'm going to! Just because! ;)

Yesterday's trip(s) to the hardware was productive! Our goal was keys, epoxy, upright freezers, Subway. We started out going to some used appliance stores for the upright. No luck. So we headed to Lowes because they advertised one on sale. So since Mark needed to get keys made and look for epoxy for his wood projects (fire pit stake handles) we headed there. Got the keys but no epoxy...too expensive. Looked at the upright that was on sale and decided to get it. But the customer line was too long for Mark, so we decided to check out with the keys and head to Subway and go home to eat, grab the truck and trailer for the freezer and then we headed back to Lowe's. There were still a couple of customers in line in front of us, but we waited.....paid the man who said delivery was free so Mark decided to let them man-handle the freezer! It is supposed to be delivered on Tuesday! WOOT! I can't wait to be able to find stuff without everything I want being buried under something else, which is what it is like in my side-by-side fridge! The fridge door is not closing properly anymore, either. You have to manually close it or you will find it open later! So, I'm sure, one of these days in the not too far future, we are going to have to make a fridge purchase!

Here's the some of the fire pit stake handles Mark has been experimenting with:
IMG_20230623_104812959-web.jpg

Some of the wood is cedar, pine, white oak and one more that I don't remember. He needs the epoxy to fill in bug/ant holes. The stakes are screwed into the flat end of the handles. He makes the stakes, too. Here's a picture of the ones he made for my daughter:
IMG_20230601-web.jpg

He is very particular with his projects! He always does an excellent job! You cannot tell they are "homemade"!

Anywho.....Mark is out cutting grass (another thing he is particular about!). The neighbors, not so much, LOL! About the only time they are serious about cutting their grass is when they are going to have company!

OK, that's it for me. Roomba has docked herself to charge her battery and Asher has unhidden himself from Roomba's searching him out, LOL! He moves pretty quickly when she comes near him! He ran to Mark's office, his little paws just skittering as fast as they could go on the slick, hardwood floors!

Have a great weekend!

Good morning ladies. Looks like today will be misty rain, so will be nice at the dog park, should keep the heat away. I'll wear a ball cap and will enjoy the light sprinkle. I'll drive and Jen will come with Bella. She doesn't feel confident to drive yet, she twisted and popped her knee last wk. X-rays show no break but Emergency doesn't help other than that b/c its not something they have time for. They just sent her home. She has swelling, limited movement and lots of pain and after googling, we figure it is an LCL sprain. She ordered a brace from amazon and hopefully it will start to feel better soon. The pain is quite bad and she can barely walk around her apartment for more than a minute or two. I've been taking care of Bella and doing chores for her.

I'm happy to have a quiet day as I'm out for brunch with friends tomorrow, out for a hike on Monday and a photo walk day on Tues.

My eye exam went well. The glaucoma hasn't progressed in the last few weeks and the drops have reduce some of the eye pressure. I go back in four months and he says I will need laser surgery. He expects that I will have more vision loss at some point but its all up in the air. So for now, I am happy to have vision and hope the progression will be slowed down for a long time.

I'm close to finishing The Golden Girl and have really enjoyed it. A few of the book club ladies have finished it and also enjoyed it.

@faerywings Glad you and G enjoyed getting out. A PJ day sounds nice.

@Nonni F Cool tattoo!

Remi is whining at me so its time to get her back outdoors. HAGD everyone.

I'm not a tattoo kind of girl either... not sure what's up with my brain lately. I've been drawing, extracting things I find on line.... and playing with it in Paint Shop.

I don’t know for sure if I’ll ever really become a Florida girl. We sat outdoors last night at the restaurant and 3 of the 4 of us kept complaining about the heat even though we loved the ocean view. If Brian thought it was too hot, he didn’t say a word.

And I love the hot dog forks that Mark is making. Wow! I think you are right, he can make anything!

Sorry to hear about Jen’s knee. It’s crazy to hear about the lack of medical assistance you get there. Glad that it isn’t anything serious!

I don't know if I'll get this done, I've been up at the pool most of the day and I'm overcooked. Speaking of cooked, they're cooking out for dinner which will be any time. I bowed out for a couple of hours to come home and cool off. Braden walked me home - what a sweetheart he is. I think he wanted to get away for a few minutes. He said he'd had enough sun. Lots of people up there today and they had a floating bar - it was so funny to see the booze floating around in the pool. It's all fun and games unless you're sober and I'm not a day drinker. I'm hoping they A. won't miss me or B. they'll be a little more composed by the time they eat.

Chris @faerywings I'm just using that Jergen's Glow on my body - haven't tried anything on my face yet. I do think it's making me look tanner. I put it on almost every day. Adrienne suggested that I mix the one I have with the darker tone, and not go directly to the darker tone. I do need something for my face but I get outside a few times a week and I use a little darker makeup on my face. Yes, something ate my maters - Roger was here today and he said it was probably racoons. The little rascals came right up on our patio - little bandits. We're going to get some repellant. Anyway, if I catch any critter eating my hydrangeas, it will be ON!!!

Nonnie @Nonni F how exciting that you're designing your tattoo. I LOVE them and I want some more - my granddaughter Ava is the best at designing them. She has one "sleeve" and is working on the other one. She has one huge one on her stomach and chest area, too. I only have one, but really want another one. Do you know where you want it yet? I remember when I got mine - I knew exactly where I wanted it.

I know I'm missing a lot of you, please know I love you all dearly and I'll try to catch up tomorrow. I'm going to be leaving shortly to go up to Adrienne's and eat, so hugs to all of you. XOXO

Happpppy (sunny in NJ at least for now) Sunday
I am in a good mood and gotta admit, I am surprised. I slept horribly last night and had nightmares and strange dreams the last two nights. People shooting through windows, car accidents, and general chaos. In spite of that, I am feeling....good. Go figure ;)

Even though I thought about it, I couldn't make yesterday a PJ day. The rain broke for a couple of hours early afternoon, so my friend asked if I wanted to go for a walk. We clocked a 2-mile walk in 150% humidity. (that is only a small exaggeration, it wasn't hot but it was *gross*).
Gary seems to be feeling a little better too and that makes a huge difference in my own mood. Did I tell you he was doing a liquid diet to settle his diverticulosis (-itis more likely)? I am pretty sure I did. He did three days of that and is now doing approx. 1 week of soft foods and he says the pain is easing. Unfortunately, we think that the diet messed up his insulin pump. Can't win some days SMH. The pump calibrates how much insulin you use on average and gives him a steady small dose of insulin throughout the day. When he eats, he programs it to give him enough insulin to cover the meal. Not eating likely messed up that steady-dose average and his sugars have been running high.
There is good news at the end of that tunnel--- he is getting the pump upgrade on Tuesday!! :dance2:He did the initial training yesterday and one the upgrade it installed, he has more training to do. Shouldn't be any issue, he has been using a pump for 26 years now. What difference since I first met him when he had to do 3-4 shots a day. I am so happy for him ♥

Other some more housework and meal prep/food shopping, I don't have much happening. I don't know if it will dry out enough o do any yard work. I am scrapping a page for a kit coming out this week and I am loving it so far. The "bones" of it are done, I just need to tweak some stuff and perk up the photo I am using. It needs a filter or something like that.

Enjoy the day!! Sending big hugs to everyone

@LSlycord Good for you for taking the trip to the beach by yourself to enjoy the sunrise and start your day. Every time I am down the shore, I sit outside and dream about winning a gazillion dollars (a few million would not be anywhere near enough to buy a shore house *G* ) and watch the sunrise, listen to the waves, and drink coffee. That is my version of heaven. I am really, really happy that you get to experience that often.
Fab news that the cardinal is back and that you love the new house

@Nonni F I *love* all of the different tattoo designs. Totally adore the blackwork and the green eyes. Wow!
I am 100% with you, who cares if it is half and half styles, I think it is awesome. And if it's the way you want it, so be it. Are you putting it on your bicep/shoulder area? I think that the design on that last one but with Ollie's sweet face is gonna be fab!

Cait's is between her shoulder blades. We had a blast getting them done too. that was my last tattoo and I have been getting the itch again but not sure what I'd want done. I'd like to get the ones on my right ankle connected to each other in some way. I just don't think I want to spend money on that at this point. Money I obviously don't have LOL

@vickyday His motto, Fix it til it's broken!
Hahah! That would be me. My answer to everything is duct tape and/or hot glue so you can see why. :floorlaugh:
Gary is 100% Mr. Mechanic like Mark.
Yay for the new freezer!
Did Mark make the handles on a lathe? Incredible!!!

@bcgal00 Oh man, that makes me angry that the health care is so awful by you. poor Jen! We often hear about how "bad" Canada's healthcare is as a reason why the US shouldn't be improved. But what Jen and D and you have been dealing with is outrageous. In the US might cost an arm and a leg and then some, but at least if we go to the hospital they have to treat you properly.
Whew! That is really good news about your eyes. Lots of good healing vibes to you. Hopefully, this regimen will keep any more damage at bay.
Did you finish Golden Girl? The end surprised me. Enjoy the next few days of socializing :groupchat:

@Cherylndesigns How are you feeling this morning, not overheated or overcooked? Braden is the perfect gentleman to walk you home. Does he have a girlfriend ATM? He seems like a keeper kind of guy. (Not that I recommend staying with your HS sweetheart anymore, not like I used to- harrumph! Just IM-still salty-HO, of course. :nod1: )
I tried to use more drops of the tanner last night and it felt like there was no way it was going to absorb into my skin. My face is still on the oily side (love that Italian skin :D) so I use a more lightweight lotion. Since I still had so much on my hands, I added a few pumps of body lotion and put it on my arms and shoulders. I am probably a streaky mess today. I miss the days of laying out and not worrying about sun damage and skin cancer, I would be tan in no time.

Hope you are having a fun and not too terribly busy weekend @taxed4ever
And @BrightEyes thinking of you too!

Good morning. I woke up at 4 this morning but went back to sleep and didn't wake up again until 8. So no sunrise for me today. It's going to be another hot one here today...which means another day of indoor activities. Which is fine...Syd needs help with her room and I need to get my desk moved to the bedroom for the week so that I can actually close the door away from the chaos of the office being built. LOL Tomorrow the guy building the office shows up to get started...should have it all framed by tomorrow night and I can then look forward to having "buyer's remorse". The guys get here tomorrow to screen the lanai and that is a one day project so that will be good.

Had birds at the feeder this morning. My dilemma is that the bright Florida sunshine is behind them and I can't see anything but the fact that the birds on the feeder. I turned on my Merlin sound id and I heard the following birds: tufted titmouse, Eastern bluebird, blue jay, northern mockingbird, robin, cardinal, crow and downy woodpecker. When I walked out, I thought that I heard a blue jay carrying on and saw a bird on the back fence that looked the right size. But couldn't see colors or markings. Now, I'm sure that was it. I saw several tufted titmice (I looked it up and both titmouses and titmice are correct but titmouses gets flagged in my typing here as incorrect so going forward, multiple are titmice:giggle4:). I could see the "tuft" and they were the right size. No cardinals this morning...or they get up earlier than I do. Anyhow...this is my life now.

And last night Syd and I sat and watched the college world series championship. It's best of three and UF Gators lost in extra innings to LSU Tigers. We, of course, were cheering for the Gators.

@Cherylndesigns that was so sweet of Braden to walk you home. I would have needed an escort as well after all of that heat and chaos. ;) He seems like such a sweet young man...too bad he isn't going to UF and taking engineering. Oh well, it wouldn't matter...Syd is totally determined that she doesn't want (and certainly doesn't need) a boyfriend until she gets done with school. She can be a bit of an ice princess and doesn't change her mind easily, so I guess no guy will be taking away my attention for awhile.

@faerywings I'm so glad that Gary is feeling better but yes, I'm sure that the numbers are pretty messed up now. How exciting for him getting a new pump!

Ok ladies...I'm straightening my desk...how often do I tell you that? I need a cleaning fairy. But it is pretty important today since I have to move to the bedroom for the week.

Good morning ladies. I'm heading downtown to a brunch with the book club gals. Then I'll run a few errands which I'm there before coming home in the afternoon. I'm still reloading styles, actions and brushes into photoshop. There was an update a few days ago that crashed my photoshop and wouldn't let me import photos. So I will work on that later. I'm a few pages from finishing my book "The Golden Girl" so am going to go finish it now before hopping in the shower.

@faerywings Glad that G is starting to feel better and that he is getting a new pump. Your tattoo is so pretty. I have never gotten one, came close a few years ago but never did. At this point I don't want to spend the money.

@LSlycord Your yard sounds amazing with birds. I'm jealous. I love where I live now but there are not many birds in my yard, the grassland semi-arid desert climate here doesn't attract many birds. I have to go to the water to find more birds. I do miss having a big variety coming to the feeders. Here I only get finches, sparrows, blackbirds, magpies and doves.

@vickyday We'll soon be up in the 90's too. Thank goodness for a/c and a pool.

I'm going to finish the last few pages of my book and hop in the shower. HAGD everyone.

@Cherylndesigns planning to get this one on my bicep on the same arm as my Ollie's paw print. Would love for it to end up being a sleeve of different things at some point but baby steps. lol My biggest fear getting older is getting tats now and not at thirty when my skin wasn't so crepey.

Good evening - I made it in here. Adrienne and I decided to go to Muskogee to Beall's Outlet. I'm SO glad we went - that is the most awesome store! We had them all over Florida and the prices are SO amazing - I have been wanting a couple of Skorts - Adrienne wears them all the time and I had just never gotten any. Man, are they the bomb diggity - you look like you have on a short skirt, but there are shorts underneath. I only bought two pairs but couldn't find the tops I wanted to go with them. That's ok - I have things here that will work. One pair is a black, light orange and dark orange tropical print and the other pair is dark army green. I can wear anything with that. I remembered that I recently bought an orange sleeveless top and it's a perfect match and I have that orange-y denim jacket that I love, too. I foune an (expensive anyplace else) pair of turquoise flip flops and a pair of camel denim shoes, like tennis shoes, only real light weight. They feel like butter on. I hope Chuck doesn't see them right away because he'll say "well, you needed more shoes". They were only 20 dollars each - I HAD to buy them. To sweeten the pot, I bought him a bag of M&M Popcorn mix and I bought Daisy a new toy. I swear she can smell a new toy. I sat the bag on the floor and she stuck her nose in and pulled it right out. It was hilarious. She knows every time I bring her home a new toy.

Chris @faerywings I hope you're not streaked. You just have to be really careful and especially on your elbows, your knees and the tops of your feet. It's a process putting it on, but I'm doing it every day. It takes a good fifteen minutes to dry though. Yes, Braden is a doll baby. He insisted on walking me home and carrying my bag which was pretty heavy - I always take a bunch of stuff up there. Chris and Linda @LSlycord Braden IS a keeper - that's for sure. I wish he could meet Syd, too - they would probably make a good pair - they're both a couple of smart kids. He says he's not going to get serious about any girl until he's through college, too. He broke up with Hayden at the start of his Senior year because he just wanted to have fun and he has had fun. She was a year older than him and she's at the local university now and is happy and has moved on with her life. They both wanted different things and I'm thankful that they figured it out this early. She just wants to stay here, get married and have three kids and he wants more out of life - at least until he's through school. With him wanting to be an attorney, he has a long way to go. I was kidding him yesterday about how he'd have to knock the girls off of himself when he gets to UA. He just laughed. I honestly don't think he even knows how cute he is.

Chris, love your tat and Nonni @Nonni F don't worry about your age - or your skin - so many of us older people are wanting them now. Somebody said "what are you going to look like when you get really old and have all those tatoos?" I say "like a really old woman who loves tattoos." :floorlaugh:

I love your merged designs and that will look so cool on your bicep. I'll dig some pictures of the tats that my granddaughter has out and show you girls. The first one she got is in my handwriting - it says "enjoy the little things" because I've always said that, and she wanted it on her body. We keep saying that we're going to go together and get matching tats. She got her love of art from me and I've always called her "Grasshopper" and I'm her "Sensei". We want to get those tattooed on ourselves.

Well, I'd better get off of here. I think I'm going out to dinner with the can tonight but I haven't made up my mind yet. I went back up there last evening to eat real food (all we'd had were snacks) and didn't get home until after ten o'clock. I might take a pass. They're leaving in an hour, so I better decide.
