The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
It's the weekend!! Today is going to be a yummy day-- 84* and sunny. Tomorrow we begin the trek into the 90s for a few days.

I'm glad that it's going to be good weather. I plan to spend the afternoon working in the yard. And cleaning off the patio. Did I tell you that we signed the contract to have the patio repaired? He should be able to start in about 2 weeks, depending on the weather. It will be nice to have a new patio area. Every year, I want to spruce it up but it's in such disrepair, there wasn't much point.

I need a nice day for dirt therapy today because the last few days have been emotionally draining. If you saw my request for good thoughts for my friend, the good news is that their application for the townhouse was accepted. The flip side is that neither of us is going to handle it well when she moves out. We hung out on her lawn and talked for hours in the afternoon, like we have for years and years. We both tried not to cry several times, but it's so darn hard. We have been there for each other through some of the best times in our lives and some of the worst. She's been my rock- literally there for me. Across the street. Just knowing she is there was a comfort.
Sheesh. I am choking up again.

Anyway.

I was searching for my Aromatherapy certification and found some funny paperwork when the kids were little. That cracked me up and also made me wonder why I saved *everything* they did. LOL
So it wasn't a total bust a of a day.

I am off the FP this morning and hoo boy, I need just about everything. The patio repair is most definitely *not* in the budget and is going on the credit card. (I know, I am going to be paying it off for the rest of my life. Booo!) But what can you do?

After that, I'm going to dig up some more of the pachysandra and move some ferns in to replace them as a ground cover. I don't think the veggies I planted are going to do well since we have been moving them off the patio too. We'll see and hope for the best.

What good plans do you have this weekend? Have fun whatever you do!

But ... you know me ... we're not celebrating. I'm a Grinch for ALL festivities. LOL I will make a kinda nicer dinner, but we won't do anything else. TV & snacks this evening.
SKOL!
(Sorry I don't have the little characters to spell it correctly.)

to answer your question. We are having so much fun they always have so much going on it is so interesting. We are leaving here on 30th with youngest grandson then a few nights camping with him then up the their McCabin in upstate NY Son and DIL will come up for 4th of july we will stay there longer then on to a friends.
It must be wonderful to have so much time and fun activities. Your family sounds amazing- and adventurous!
Did you get the ferro rods to work?

ut we had a good look around. When we got to the Lighthouse, the light came on inside of us. We have wanted to move for four years. But we couldn't figure out where to. Suddenly on the shores of Erie I felt at home- and like myself again! I didn't even know that was missing! When we got in the car to leave, hubster said "I could live here."
You gave me the chills! The community sounds perfect for you. So happy for you!

It is a very quiet morning as DD#1 drove home yesterday. She had been here for month and was really missing her family. There is still work going on at her son's house and DD#3 will be over-seeing it for DD#1. I will be running errands this morning - hopefully before it gets too hot.
((((((hugs)))))) as you adjust to the quiet again. Pretty sure that DD#3 will stop in to visit with you soon. :)
Stay cool and hydrated.

. It’s forecast to get up to 101° by Tuesday, and the grandkids are coming in from Seattle on Wednesday. It’s going to be quite a shock for them, poor kids. The 7-year-old was complaining when it got to mid 70s when we went to Vancouver a couple months ago.
Eeek! That is *hot* and will be a shock to the kids' systems.
I actually got down on the kitchen floor and scrubbed it yesterday. I’m getting too old for this; surely there’s a machine I can rent?
You did *not!* (BTDT and paid for it with every darn muscle)
My friend that I clean for has a machine for "steam cleaning" the tile floors. It's electric and has rotating heads that you attach cloth pads to. It doesn't work great on her floors because her tile is that kind that is "pitted" but it works better than a regular mop. I don't know the brand but I can look the next time I am there. (All I know is that it is white and purple LOL)
Good weather vibes for tomorrow.

Learn to not have to clean your house with this one easy trick: Alcohol. Give them enough alcohol that they don't notice or care if there is dust. :drunk:

JK!! Sort of ;)

Good morning All!! I have been keeping up but my attitude needs more work before I venture into public. Real life people are all doom n gloom and I am at the end of my rope listening. Its sunny. Its summer. Its beautiful. Life is good! Unless you focus on the bad and suck all the life out of those who are in a good mood. Yep, that is my week. So while I've been here, I'm just silently enjoying all the fun and love that flows. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Im keeping my 'tude hidden this weekend. See you Monday!
((((((((((hugs))))))))) to you!! Everyone here is always so helpful and supportive when I get into my funks, which happens more often than I like. If there is anything that I can do to help you, say the word. Or I'll hop on my Moose/Elk/Caribou/Grizzly Uber/Lyft/DoorDash (umm I think I'd be the meal the DoorDash so maybe that's not good) and I'll be in AK before you know it/before I get eaten by the grizzly/possibly never. :lol23:
But I will be there in spirit. ♥
We were packed to leave today, but a grand jury hearing stalled us out. We don't know the details but there was certainly deliberate and illegal hold up of many veteran's claims. Frustrating, but glad the culprits have been outed. :yesss:
Yikes. Lots of good thoughts as you work through this.

Last week in my backyard bird watching I saw an Indigo Bunting! Pretty far away but I could ID it with my binocs. Once I knew what it was, that blue was completely identifiable with the naked eye. So amazing to see that color from that distance.
Oooh, that sounds exciting!!!
Merlin keeps hearing a red-eyed vireo in the yard but no luck in seeing it. I have never seen that - or an indigo bunting that matter. Right now, I am inundated by mourning doves and grackles :/
Enjoy the weekend, it sounds like you and Belle will have fun together.
Well, yesterday was "better" wasn't it? But, my goodness we are in for it with escalating temps.
I LOVE your word "condestating" -- it's perfect. (BTW auto-correct does not like it and kept trying to change it on me!)
YAY for your pool opening early soon, at least you know it's there.
My town pool starts Summer Session hours today which means this morning is a 10am opening, yay. You stay cool too, even though you already are way-cool! :heartpumppink:
My spell-checker hates me. hahaha!! Yes, that will be nice to have the pool if I need it. It is a spring-fed pool so it stays cold.
I can't wait to tell my family that you think I am "way-cool." They tell me often that I am a dork. :giggle4:
Any trips down the shore in your future?

:grouphugyay:

BirdladyO's---- @faerywings and @mimes1 As a kid I saw indigo buntings but never as adult. How lucky to see one even from a distance. Here a Mikes I see a hawk almost every day. it perches on a post for the fence around his garden I want to get a pic so I can identify it. We hear hear the vireo allot but have never seen one anywhere we have been

@Terri M wow those are some hot temps for sure. That will be an adjustment for the grand kids from Seattle. I hope you enjoy their visit.

@faerywings Its sad that your friends have to move. I hope it's not too far away, your friendship will always be there even if you are not across the street. Your get togeter time will be more special and you still have all those old wonderful memories. Have fun with the dirt therapy it will be good for you. Keep hydrated.
How nice you are getting patio repaired...then the fun of decorating it. We love our Florida patio . It's our little slice of paradise.

@MariJ you will need the pool with the hot weather coming your way. I miss our club pool in Florida --heated and chilled so always 85 and so wonderful. I know you love the pool there.

@AK_Tracy I am with you I really dislike all the negative people out there. I hope you can get that attitude adjustment!!!;););):waving1:waving1 I know how hard it is to always stay up but if you get down it's harder to get up again. Enjoy your summer weather I bet it is so beautiful up there now.

@Amandajk so glad you are finding your happy place. Everyone says' Florida summer is too hot...well it is! so we stay in. It's the opposite from CT where we had to stay in all winter. Green grass, flowers & green trees with sunny days beat snow, ice and gloom in my book!

Yesterday I did laundry then read a little since Reed was fishing with his other grandfather. Last night we went to Music Trivia at a local brewery with SIL, daughter and grandchildren and more friends...soooooo much fun. Got to see some old friends we haven't' seen in awhile. I loved it. And we WON!!!! by 5 points. They win often our granddaughter is amazing with the music stuff. Then we went to their house for a little while, more fun with more of their friends!!!
Today we are going with daughter and family for the final inspection of the house they are buying so they may be closing this week since no financing is needed. I'm so happy for them they have been searching for a few years.

Have a good weekend everyone.

I had time to work on some pages from “Great American Roadtrip” in 2016. I have a goal of getting that book done before the end of the year. We’ll see. It’s been interesting to me how much AI has been helpful in editing my text. I never totally like what it comes up with but it helps me organize and tighten up my writing without having to work at it too hard. And then last night it came up with an idea I hadn’t thought of: when we were in Grand Teton, the bar at the lodge had a cocktail I loved. Not a standard name, but it listed the ingredients in the menu, which I had happened to take a photo of. So I asked ChatGPT if it recognized the drink from the ingredients, and it did. So far, no surprise. But then it suggested it could format the recipe as a recipe card and I could make a scrapbook page with it and the photo of the drink and it gave me a piece of writing to put the page in context. I thought, hey, yeah, that would be a fun page and a bit different from all the pages of photos of scenery and such, so I’m going to do it. Heck, maybe I can even make it fit one of the monthly challenges.

David is outside cleaning the grill before it gets terribly hot. I shopped yesterday for what we need for tomorrow’s bbq. Tonight’s dinner will be whatever clears out room in the fridge because people bringing salads and stuff will need to put them there, given the heat. I’m trying to figure out how to distribute drinks and snacks so people rotate inside and out. Fortunately our backyard is on the east side of the house so there will be some shade. We used to have a big river birch that made half the backyard pleasant on even the hottest days but it came down in an ice storm 3 years ago.

:lol23:Maybe I should put extra brandy in the sangria?

My linoleum has these little pores that collect dirt. Mopping just doesn’t get that. But I discovered yesterday ( too late) that you can buy a brush that goes on a drill for about $10. You still have to get down on the floor, but at least you don’t have to scrub. For $10 I’m trying that next time.

I miss our club pool in Florida --heated and chilled so always 85 and so wonderful.
When my mom lived in the condo in Ft Myers, the pool would get up into the mid 90s in the summer. Not refreshing! I never knew that there were pool cooling systems!

Off to polish the hardwood floor in the living room, then deep clean the bathrooms (not too hard) and then I’ll be ok with the rooms I can’t close the doors on.

Thanks Febbie, you sure know me well. The pool opened for summer hours today and the water is still a bit chilly. It warmed up a bit in the afternoon, but weather is just going to get hotter and hotter. Your pool sounds delightful, I'd love that. :heartpumppink:

Hee hee, no way - you are WAY cool! My Belmar friends are in the process of going down for the summer while I am here enjoying the pool. But since the two-year-old and I will miss each other too much I will make a visit for sure. Most likely later in the summer, when summer settles in... I love staying there with them.
And oh gosh. Our diving tank is spring fed so I konw what you mean by the cold water, it's awful. When I broke my foot the lifeguards would let me sit on the edge with it dangling in - better then "icing" it. :D

Hello and happy Sunday!

I feel like I am losing track of days and weeks and slipping on what year it is. Time is more "warpy" than usual lately. YKWIM?
I woke up at 4 am this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. It is going to be a long day.

I was thrilled to get out in the yard yesterday. I spent about two hours ripping out a section of the pachysandra. Although I will be pulling shoots up for a while, I think I got 90% of it out. I split some ferns from the opposite side of the yard so hopefully they will take. I'll have to bring some water out there, the hose won't reach and I don't want them to fry in the next few days of heat.

Plans for today-- grocery order and planning for summer camp. Training starts tomorrow.

I think that is about it.
Hugs to you all!! xoxoxo

My kids love to go to Trivia but they rarely win. LOL Congrats to your team!
Good luck with DDs house inspection and all of my fingers are crossed that the closing happens soon and easily!! That is very exciting :)

I don't use AI often but I have used it to help me clarify something I wrote- like Caitlyn's wedding toast I had to make. It needed a little extra oomph so i ran my speech through and picked and chose what I wanted to change.
I never thought to use it for a cocktail recipe. I have a mish-mash of ingredients and never know what to mix up. :drinks2:
:lol23:Maybe I should put extra brandy in the sangria?
Yes. 100% yes.

:giggle4:

Caitlyn got one of them for Tom! Figured he loves his power tools and what better way to incentivize him to scrub out their tub :p
Have a wonderful time today. Try not to stress -- remember that all for the people you invited are people who love you. ♥

Hee hee, no way - you are WAY cool!
We were talking about motorcycles at work the other day, me and the 20 yos, and one guy said he didn't know I was a bad a**. That made me LMBO. I am not one anymore but when I was their age, maybe kinda cool.
My Belmar friends are in the process of going down for the summer while I am here enjoying the pool. But since the two-year-old and I will miss each other too much I will make a visit for sure. Most likely later in the summer, when summer settles in... I love staying there with them.
I hope you get there!

@faerywings I am in total agreement with you time is so weird lately, i sometimes cannot remember what day it is and what I did the day before or was it the day before that. Pulling out pachysandra is a long time process cause any piece left is going to be come another plant..ugh.

Yesterday was pretty crazy. First thing in the morning I did some pruning and yard work for our son. then we went on the final inspection of the house my daughter is buying....wow wow what a stunning home they will have. closing should be Tuesday or Wednesday. Usually the photos are so off but these are so accurate and it is even better in person. They are buying some of the furniture so when we were there yesterday we found the sellers left an almost new Weber grill, John Deere riding mower, whole house generator, they replaced all the matresses with new name brand pillowtops!!! some of the artwork was left. The sellers have fixed all the little things the inspector found and even had the 2 year old refrigerator in the main house serviced. The house is immaculate!

The youngest grandson had a super thrilling day too. They went to the race track for autocross and he got to ride on the track. First with his dad in his Porche and in their super hot fast Nissan. Then he got to ride with some of the pro drivers....cause he is so cute..LOL and he asked. He loved the friends BMW best cause they spun around then kept going. He is one lucky kid. We made pizzas then of course more fireworks!!!

Mike is cooking breafast this morning and even making us some of his smoked bacon that he raised. Then we are meeting friends for wine-tasting...another name crossed off the list of who we have to see. Tonight we are going over to our daughters for dinner.

Raining here so getting ready to make himidity when the heat gets here.. Stay hydrated this week everyone in the heat belt.

Morning, all. Things are cooling off a bit - down to low 90's today. Monsoon rains will start on Monday - off and on - all week. (Remnants of hurricane Eric) Hope they help with the fires that are burning in the state. Hope that Thursday will be clear when the yard guy is suppose to do my yard clean-up.

Had a bit of a set-back yesterday. DD#3 was checking out the (trash) bulk pick-up rules for us... (she is getting a new mattress and needs to get rid of the old one). Turns out that they will only take 2 chairs in one pick-up and no tech stuff!!! She is tracking down where we can take the TV, monitor, printers, shredders and computers. And can only have 1 bulk pick-up per month... So much for getting rid of those in one pick-up. Good thing that I have room in the 3rd car garage to keep stuff until we can find where they have to be taken.

Checked on my challenge and made some comments on them. Feeling a bit lazy today so may have a 'couch potato' day... reading and/or watching movies. No cooking - nuking leftovers (Mexican goulash) for supper. Other chores can wait a day or two for me to work on them. HAGD

An hour to the party and we're ready. Sangria in the fridge, tables and chairs set up, grill cleaned, house looking decent. Feels-like temp at the moment is 105° and we've still got a couple hours for temps to rise. We set up a canopy on the deck and put out some fans but I honestly think no one's going to be out there much. Next time I'm doing this in May and people can just wear their sweaters.

what a stunning home they will have. closing should be Tuesday or Wednesday. Usually the photos are so off but these are so accurate and it is even better in person.
Wow, how great that they get to pick up some really useful items with the house. When we've bought, the best we've come away with is buckets of paint and chemicals you're not allowed to dispose of.

She is tracking down where we can take the TV, monitor, printers, shredders and computers.
We only have e-waste days twice a year and you have to sign up for them. We usually miss the date so we've brought things to Best Buy. Some stuff you have to pay to leave with them. Thankfully cables are free. How do I accumulate them by the boxful?

I feel like the sangria needs a taste test so off I go...

Went winetasting with friends--We both brought snacks, what fun we had not seen them in 2 years so lots to catch up on. We got a bottle to take to our daughters house in a little while. They had trivia there but we bombed! We needed our granddaughter for most of it.

@Terri M I'm sure your party is a blast...as entertainers we always worry about stuff that our guests never care about. I know when we have events most people hang outside now matter the heat because we have the shade trees and pond view...you have mountains background, right?? Well I hope it all went well and now you can relax. I hear you about our home purchases...mostly only problems $$$ to deal with. But somehow we made it...kudos to us.

Off to our daughters house now I will have to borrow a swimsuit to sit in the hot tub because I forgot mine. duh.
