Good mOrning, happy weekend to you all. I hope that you got a great night's sleep and were able to stay in bed and relax a bit. That is what I did, I woke up early but was able to snuggle with W for a bit. She was keeping my feet toasty warm.

I didn't have a very productive day yesterday but Caitlyn and I had a nice time running errands together. It was neat having her drive me around in a nice car too. I didn't find what I was looking for at the Dollar Store but picked up a pair of reading glasses for Gary. It stinks to get old. We watched the ferrets, gerbils, and mice at the pet store next door. The ferrets are so cute and the mice were hysterical, bopping all around and scuffling with each other. That made us want to get back home and play with her girls, which we did. Those babies are so sweet!

I am slowly getting the house in order for the party but in the meantime, what was supposed to just be my parents bringing bagels tomorrow for Father's Day is turning into a full-blown party. Gary's parents, Leah and Arlene will be here too. I am making some mini-muffins for that and I need to find paper goods in the attic.
I never did make it outside yesterday, it was really cold and cloudy, but that is on my agenda for today.
HAGD!

Trudy- I am happy that you were able to have a good visit with your friends in spite of a rough game. It is a trip to think of the things your kids did together and laugh.

Nancy- that freaks me out so much that your DH has been walking around with a detached retina. What with the eye Dr be able to do for it? I do hope that is is as minor as he is saying.
(I have to butt in and say that my mom is seeing an orthopedist for her knees and I think she has seen more Drs and techs in the past few weeks than in the past several years combined. And no, she isn't handling it well LOL )
it sure doesn't feel like the official start of summer is only a few days away.

Jean- How cool that your DH saw a bald eagle on his survey. I am giggling that you liked your MM project but DH was underwhelmed. men ;)
Enjoy your meeting today and good luck with the detour. I hope that the signs are well-marked. I hate it when they are not.
I was able to get a few more pieces of the puzzle done but there are so many pieces that *look* like they should fit but don't and so many that do *fit* but shouldn't. It is a nightmare!!!!!!!!! :frusty: hehe!!

Kay- good for you to know how to fix the red cast on the photos! That will the scanning/scrapping of them so much easier. Arlene and I were talking about our kids and their possible wedding plans in the future. Leah is Jewish in name but her family is pretty observant (Arlene's parents were in Treblinka) so they want to incorporate a few traditions, like breaking a glass. -- Felis- it just occurred to me that is connected to your superstition of breaking glass being good luck!)--
At any rate, Arlene said that they used to use a flashbulb for that. We were laughing, can you even get flashbulbs any more? or 110 film? LOL
That is too bad that the yard guy isn't getting back to you but good for you for figuring it out! You can tell your husband was military. He sounds like he was very organized. I hope the sunburn is better today.

Felis- you and your family sound like my neighbors with their yard. The husband is an artist and loves the wildness of nature. The wife is a chemist and likes precision in it. Their gardens turn into a battleground of ideas :D
I am going to have to check out your LO and the song.

Better get my day started, love and hugs to all!

Morning, gals. Feeling better today... the aloe lotion I used on the sunburn did its job.. no burning or itching today and only a light redness to the arms. Yes, Chris... since DH was gone a lot during his Navy/Tech Rep years, I learned how to do a lot of maintance and repair jobs. And he was always an organized type of guy so it was just a matter of finding the right bin where the drip-system things were kept. Glad to have the line plugged off so now the drip system is back on-line and no more having to hand water things. Not sure if my day lily in the pot where the cut line went is going to make it. It died way back. I moved a line from an empty pot over into it and will see if survives.

Nancy, glad your DH finally is seeing the Dr about his detached retina!!

Jean, glad your DH saw the eagle...they are such majestic creatures!

Chris, I sympathize with you over the frustration of the puzzle. We had one like that where nothing seem to fit except for the edges. Finally gave it up as the stress was driving us crazy!

I am planning on hibernating this weekend... missing my dad and hubby so much. Tomorrow would have been my Mom's birthday, too. Going to see if I can a few good books to read so I can lose myself in them.

Morning ladies... I have been so very bad for not being here much lately! :sorry: but oh my goodness we have been so busy!! Today we are off to our once a year golf game, it's always lots of fun, but also very tiring!! When you only golf once a year, your golf game never improves and it sure is hard to try to golf 18 holes LOL. We haven't ever managed it in 4 years now! But so much fun, good food for supper and lots of great prizes given out at the end! The Municipality of North Cowichan puts the whole thing on and pays for almost everything. ( My hubby works for them) So we are off shortly and it is another warm and sunny day. Last year we did not attend because we were in Paris, so its going to be extra hard to get back into it! I have packed lots of sunscreen, so hopefully we won't get burned!! Tomorrow DH's Mom and Dad will join us for dinner for Father's Day, but I told them that they might not get a big meal, maybe just burgers?? They were just fine with that! I better get a move on or we will be late for our tee off time. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone, hope to catch up with you all tomorrow??

good afternoon! Trudy do not read this! I am having enjoying watching the St. Louis Blues Stanley Cup parade and rally. This town and the team is having such a good time. Me on the other hand am astonished at the injuries the Bruins played with and I don't think that I as a mother or wife could stand it. One player my former Devil John Moore played with a shoulder separation that after surgery will require 4-5 month recovery. The Bruins top line all had significant injuries. David Pasternak, the Bruin in the Dunkin donuts commercials, had a bad thumb and several times seemed to miss shots in the final game. Now you know why. Their captain played with a broken jaw - broken in at least two places and wired shut with plates and screws. OMgosh how do you hit and be hit. I heard the Bruin coach say if you have to take a hit take a hit. LOL he is the coach so he does not get hit. My favorite is that ESPN did a 7 part show called Quest for the Cup and it shows a lot of the behind the scenes stories. It is always interesting to me to hear the speeches and which players speak up. Can you tell I love hockey. Went to wellness swimming again. It does me good. Had a great dinner - just chicken and mashed potatoes but yummy! Today is beautiful and will get out with Luther for a walk.

Chris that must have been so much fun riding around with Cait. Have fun with all the family and friends on Father's Day. Not sure what if any thing my boys are doing lol. I asked but it is up to them.

Kay I am totally impressed by your DYI skills. My son has more tech skills than me but he is forcing me to learn. I think I need to learn your DYI skills. Hope your plant revives. Congrats on learning how to get rid of the red.

Jean wow he saw an eagle. It always brightens my day to see eagles. Sorry he was not more impressed with your MM. Fortunately what matters is that you are learning and enjoying!

Felis sometimes, no a lot of times, I wish all yards were either wild or filled with growing food. I hate all the pesticides and fertilizers that are used. Glad you have your scrapping mojo.

Trudy could you believe how hurt the Bruins were? How could they even play? Glad you had such a good time with your friends!

Have a great day all!

Best I can say for the weather today is that it wasn't raining in the morning when we went across town, the rest of the day was pretty wet and will continue. DH came to the meeting too and drove. We still don't have the detour down right, but closer this time and no big deal. Always a good group of people and an interesting time. Afternoon was about creating a relatively simple family history video. Glad I got her to do it for the group.

Chris, good thing you've been cleaning with those folks coming tomorrow already. I'm sure it will be a good gathering. Hope you got outside today though. Hard to imagine ferrets as cute, but I know they can appear so - but are blood thirsty little critters in the wild.

Kay, how nice the aloe worked on your sunburn. Stay curled up with those good books tomorrow and/or talk to family.

Trudy, it's the weekend, so of course you are busy! Any time for painting soon? Hope so. We want to see that turtle emerge.

Nancy, thanks for the run down on the run down Bruins. Gosh, I knew some of it, but they sure did have the injuries. Hope you and Luther enjoyed the walk and nice weather, but if ours is coming your way, don't get used to it.

Felis, I think a wild garden or yard is the very best, but other folks often don't agree. DH's brother has a mostly enclosed back yard that is full of plants meant for birds and butterflies. By fall it looks like a jungle to us, but it is super (and has to partly start over every spring.) But it also isn't visible to his neighbors. Hope you get to that scrapping!

I am so happy that I spent 4 hours doing yardwork yesterday since it is cool and rainy today. My knees aren't super happy but my head is and that is 100% more critical to me. I love it when the hours fly by out there and you can really see a difference in how the plants look. Gary mowed the front lawn while I was working in the back and it makes me so happy. I got some compost mixed into the soil then mulched the little garden. I have some flowers on the zucchini so I hope that they produce some veggies soon. The blueberry bushes have a handful of green berries and who knows, maybe they will ripen before the chipmunks eat them all. My bee balm is also getting ready to bloom and that means the bees won't be far behind. happy happy!!

Besides being out in the yard for so long, I didn't do much else around here. That means I need to get going on the house asap. (repeats to self: It's just family, they don't care about the dust. It's just family, they don't care about the dust.)
That is my big plans for today, get the house semi-ready for company -- er, I mean *family* and then get ready for the week ahead.

Wishing all of you a really wonderful day! xoxo

Quick personals:
Kay- good to hear that your sunburn is better and the drip line is fixed. I hope that the day lily survives, I tend to never give up on plants until there is no hope. Then I wait a few more months, just in case ;)

Trudy- how was the golf outing, hope you aren't sore or sunburned! Have a nice day with the ILS.

Nancy- Yikes, I cannot imagine watching a game knowing how injured the players were nor actually playing with those injuries. I still flinch when I am outside with my dogs and they drag the lead around my ankle a bit.

Jean- I guess that the detour is *not* well marked... such a mess. At least the meeting was a good one. Ferrets are really cute but you are right, carnivores through and through. Cait doesn't think she would ever be able to keep them as pets unless her future husband would be the one to do the feedings. They do eat pellets but need meat as well and she would struggle with that. Can't say I blame her. ick.
Your BIL's garden/yard sounds awesome!

More gray and wet today. No special plans. But should be able to do pleasant things anyway.

Chris, 4 hours in the yard! How super. Hope you enjoy today and quit fussing already about dust.

Hope everyone does the same.

Happy late morning - my DH is out walking the dog as I am watching women's soccer. The USA plays in about an hour. My DH is out walking Luther. Yesterday I scrapped at bit while watching NY Yankee baseball. My DH and I walked Luther in late evening and it was beautiful. Then had Chinese take-out. It was delish. Today watching soccer with my son he showed me this really cool new app called Peak. It is to be brain training. I watched him play the games and they are fun so I got it and will play. They are games but at least I feel like maybe if I am going to play games maybe they should be working my brain. And I really like playing games.

Chris glad you had fun in the garden. Have fun today with family. And yes family does not mind dust!

Jean yes we are getting your rain starting late today. Glad your meeting went so well. It was nice of your DH to go with. That is a bummer about the detour though. By the time it is finished you will have figured it out!

Have a great day all!

I think I am 'officially' sick. Woke up at 3 AM with a tickle in my throat. Couldn't sleep so got up for an hour then got sleepy so back to bed. Didn't wake up until 9 AM. Now my throat is scratchy and hurts to swallow. No temp but feeling tired and achy. I will definitely be hibernating and drinking hot liquids. Glad I didn't have any plans for the next couple of days.

Jean, so glad your DH drove and you are learning how to get around the detour to get to the meeting. Sounds like the video was good and had lots of good information.

Chris... 4 hours out in the yard!!! WOW!!! Glad you enjoyed it and accomplished a lot. Yes, it is just family... they won't mind the dirt! But, I think that your house is clean. Don't think I have done the toothbrush cleaning since we no longer have title in the bath or kitchen counter tops. Just relax and enjoy being with family.

Trudy, how did the golf game go??? Hope you had lots of fun and didn't end up with a sunburn.

Hope all have a good Father's Day.
