How weird is this? yesterday was Caitlyn's last full day of HS. I dreamed last night that it was my last day of HS. That itself isn't weird. But the silly part of my dream was that I drove to school in a pink school bus, but when the bell rang, I didn't know where to park it so I just left it there and went to class. No one is going to notice an empty pink school bus in the middle of the road, right? hahah!!!!

When Caitlyn got home, she was telling me about some of the Senior Pranks that were being pulled and that made me realize that OMG- she is a Senior and this is *it!!* Sheesh!!! BFFATS posted a couple of pics of our girls on FB from their preschool grad, and first day of kdg. Time really flies, doesn't it?

Yesterday I got the LR and DR steam cleaned and ugh the water was disgusting when I had to dump it. I warned the kids and dogs and cats that whoever "peed, pooped, vomited or tracked in mud or grass" onto them was going to be murdered.

Then, Cait and I spent almost an hour handling her rats. They need lots of interaction when they are young to become really well socialized with humans. These girls are already-- after one day- so happy to be together and with us. Clover was so happy being up at the back of my neck and on my head. She was playing with my ponytail. Lily was snuggling in my arms and as I stroked her head, she literally flattened out and fell asleep. When they were awake, they were chuckling away. Rats "chuckle" or kind of click their teeth together when they are happy- like how a cat purrs.

Today I have a few things to do around the house (bills and laundry and dishes, soooo exciting) and then my parents are meeting me here and then we will be off to the track for Relay. Arlene and Leah are coming up too, and Scott is going to meet us there after work.

What good plans do you have today? Hope it is all fun stuff!

I am sorry that I never made it back to catch up on Wed's Ooos. Such is life. Boo.

Trudy- You are so good to your Gary to make him b-fast. You guys are a great team. Hope you were able to get back to sleep a bit longer.
I know my goodness, pets are like kids, they bring such joy and pain and debt. But the good outweighs that bad. It is what keeps us going in a lot of ways. It solidifies us as a unit even more, I think.
The trip for Mason sounds like a perfect little getaway! I hope that the weather is warn enough for Mason to get his feet wet! The last week here has been horribly cold so the lakes are going to be cold too.

Rae- I shouldn't laugh, but I can imagine Beckham huffing and puffing and pouting
like a little kid that didn't get his way! I hope that the coffee helped you get through the day and that you had a great night's sleep at the trailer last night.
Oh yeah, the sleeping dog running spasms, Jaida was doing that last night on the bed and was kicking me in the back.
Good for you and Bailey to be working together on meals and such. Caitlyn and I have a shared Vegetarian meals Board on Pinterest which is a really good help for us.
And thanks for the good thoughts re: Princess J. It is next to impossible to keep her calm and resting that leg. I honestly do not know how we will do it is she needs surgery. Even after her spaying she was a lunatic and popped a couple of stitches and at that point she was little and more easily controlled, size-wise.

Nancy- *cries and turns every shade of green with envy* I still haven't gotten my hair colored since last Aug. It is a wreck and I hate it.
But I am happy for you, it is an awesome feeling, esp when you are getting ready for another vacation (double green with envy on that! LOL) You really are amazing about getting so many books and Lo's done. :hail:

Hey Kat and Jean and everyone else who stops by! Hope you are well!

good late morning - have been out with Luther on a two mile walk with my DH. He loves this park. It has a dike and then woods on one side and a stream on the other side. I walk the dike while Luther and my DH run up and down and across the path. Pretty fun! Luther is awesome meeting other dogs and people. Now home to get some house cleaning done. Have to get the downstairs really Luther proofed. Turns out the doggie day care does not have any openings until after we get back from vacation. Fortunately we have alternate plans so he will be fine. I hope to get some scrapping done!

Chris you sound much better today! Time moves way too fast. I saw some of the sweet photos of girls when they were so young. At least your kids are not moving away to college so for a while you will still have them. Love the sound of your playing with the little rats. How does the cat and dogs deal with these new pets!

Trudy hope the weather is being good so that you got the yard all spruced up again. It is crazy here. We have cloudy but it is to get near 90. Probably thunderstorms coming our way. So glad your DD is having a get a way! I bet you are excited for their visit.

Rae hope the weekend is going well with Taz and Beckham. I am sure they are loving the country air!

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. I was tired but coffee kept me going throughout the day. The dogs were happy to get to the ranch last night. Beckham settled in really quickly. He and Taz love running out to the backyard and across the deck, to the patio out back. Taz showed him where to do his business lol. We all slept much better last night. Beckham woke me just before 7:30 to go outside and then was nudging the pantry door for breakfast. He is very food motivated and hates being on a diet. At his older age, his owners have restricted his food intake to help keep his weight down for his joints. He wolfs down food whenever he can like he's starving LOL. I'm heading out shortly for a long walk with them while it's clear b/c I think the rain will be on and off today. I will get a bit of scrapping done later and watch a few more episodes of Rosewood. Should be a nice quiet day at the ranch.

Chris - rats still kind of creep me out but it does sound cute, you guys playing with them and getting them used to being handled. Isn't it disgusting what comes out of the carpets? I always am amazed when we clean ours. Darrell usually does it every 4 months or so.

Nancy - sounds like a wonderful area for a walk with Luther. Too bad Luther has to wait a bit for doggie daycare but he gets lots of interaction and walks in the meantime and he doesn't know what he's missing but once he goes he is going to have so much fun.

Trudy - hope you are having a great wkend.

Going to grab some breakfast and get out with the dogs. Have a great day, everyone.

Morning all... cool and cloudy today, but that's ok we finally got a really good rain yesterday and even some thunder and lightning!! We hardly ever see that kind of weather. It is the one thing that I really miss about the prairies, the thunderstorms were awesome!! DH and I are going to do some running around today, a stop at the wine store to pick up supplies and I hope to go to the local art supply place to pick up a canvas. Not sure what their prices are like so I will have to do some comparisons. I finished a small painting for my son a kind of abstract type scene of sailboats. I need to get it framed and then I will post a photo. I hope he likes it! Art is a very personal thing and I am not really sure as to what his tastes are in Art. But if its not his style then I will just keep it for myself LOL. Its fun to just try new things! Heck I am not sure exactly what style of painting I like for myself :becky:

Chris - OMG it must be so weird to think that your babies are all done with High School!! Its nice that they will be sticking around close to home you are very lucky!! I miss my babies being close by!! Isn't it fun to see the photos of when they were just starting school, my how the time goes by!! Circle of life and all of that!! Sounds like you and Cait have been enjoying spending time with her rat babies, you are such a kind heart!! Cute that they chuckle!! Hope your day is not filled with more cleaning and you get to enjoy some time relaxing and being outdoors today!

Nancy - I am green with envy also, wish you could take all of us gals along with you on your vacation!! Wouldn't we have a great time hiking and talking and getting to know each other better, perhaps there could be some wine involved also :becky: Sounds like you have the best walks with your Luther! Hope he will be ok while you are away, he will miss you for sure!! I think I am going to try to get an album done soon of all of my fav layouts that I have done over the past couple of years. I have so much on my hard drive, but never seem to get many of them printed out. Enjoy your Saturday!!

Rae - Oh my goodness, poor you not being able to get sleep because of the loud snoring LOL!! Poor Beckham just wanted to cuddle. But at least he was able to get more sleep during the day, unlike yourself. Hope that the dogs are having a blast at the trailer and everyone gets a lot more sleep!!

Better get showered and ready for the day, not sure what to make for breakfast?? Have to try to FaceTime with the Cold Lake grands today. Isaac's birthday is coming up and I am not sure if they will be around on his special day or not. Hard to believe that he will be eight years old already!! Can't wait to help them get moved into their new home on the Island in July!! Have a fabulous day everyone!!

hello-smiley.gif
Rae we cross posted again!! Glad to hear that you are enjoying some relaxing time! Enjoy the day!

Good morning, Sunday!
The sun is shining and the humidity doesn't seem so bad. Of course, it is only 8am. ;)
I was so exhausted last night and I think I slept like a rock. I know that I woke up once and it was stil dark out, but was able to get back to sleep. Yippppeeeeee!!!!

Relay was nice. We had strong t-storms warnings for the afternoon, but there were only a few clouds in the sky when we got there and as we went to the bleachers for the opening ceremony. Cait's principal was speaking and said something about how he would usually raise money in a dunk tank, and next thing you know it starts raining. It stops and he keeps talking and says, yeah that will be the end of it. No more rain b/c we are the Highlanders (barf). A minute later- full on downpour! Cait is sitting next to me, making faces at him and we are both trying not to crack up.

Then we realize that there is dirt in the rain- only in my town will there be dirt in the rain. Our arms, legs- speckled with dirt! hahah!!!

i think that the ceremony hit my dad a bit differently this year, he went really quiet, head down. But he and I walked together and I hope he got some strength from that. It really is heartwarming to see all of the survivors and to hear that some have survived for sooo many years.

I hurt all over today. i think the past week caught up with me physically but I feel better, more stable mentally. Thank goodness for that! No one needs to deal with a crazy Faery!

Today I am going to putter around outside, then pop over for a while to my BFFATS to chat and get some sun. Quiet day. *knocks wood so it stays that way*

Hope that you all have a perfect Sunday!

Nancy- that sounds like the perfect outing for you guys! Luther must love all of that running and playing with the other dogs. So much for him to smell and see :)
Is Luther getting into more stuff downstairs? Puppies are like toddlers, that is for sure. That is too bad about the doggie day care not having a spot but the timing should be good that when you get back it will be all consistent for him.
I know- thank goodness that my kids are staying home, could you imagine what I would be like if they were moving away? Now I totally understand my mom's need to see or talk to me all of the time.
The dogs haven't been upstairs (no stairs for Jaida at all :( ) since she got the rats, and the cats tend to stay away from her room. Floyd loves Brendan the best and hangs in his room and Kibs stays downstairs so she can smother me.
My parents were so funny, Cait asked them to come see the babies and they did, but they sat on her bed as far away from them as possible. LOL

Rae- whew! That is good news that Beckham was better at the trailer. I am sure that running with Taz will poop him out and he will sleep well. That must be hard on him to not being to eat when he wants, poor guy doesn't know it is good for him to be on a diet. When does he go back home?
I have to post some pics of the little girls, they are so sweet and fluffy, little noses all twitchy. And so snuggly! Lily was in Caitlyn's hand and next thing you know she is crawling up into her sweatshirt sleeve. Curls up, and falls asleep with her nose peeking out of the opening. Adorbs!
But I get it, it is ingrained in humans to be grossed out by certain things, rats, snakes and spiders all up there. And to think- we have had/do have all three of them as pets. Maybe it is my family that is gross.

Trudy- so good to hear that you got some rain. We haven't had a good t-storm here yet, but the season is still young. Ray hates them so I am good with them not happening all too often.
i would imagine on the prairie- all flat like that, you could see the lightening for miles and miles. That must have been so cool.
Can't wait to see the paining you did for your son, I am sure he is going to love it! Is he the one who sails? (You do have a son that sails, or was that Shar?).
Hope that you had a nice time running errands with your Gary.

Trudy- you always find the *best* smilies!!!

HAGD!! xoxoxo!!!!!!!!

OMG, if never rains, but it pours. Who thought it was a great idea to go to a HR national conference the week before our annual charity golf tournament at work. Oh yeah, me. 12+ hours days last week and today, Sunday, I'll be working, too ... :frusty:

Sounds like the Relay was a lot of fun, Chris, but exhausting. I know how that goes. I participated in a team 3 (?) years ago and walked something like 7 or 8 miles overnight ... and by morning, my knee was "WTH?!" and I could barely move. But it was so much fun - and raising money for a great cause. Actually, the kids had a great time, too, walking at night wearing all the glow necklaces and playing around with flashlights (even though we were walking at the high school track, which has those huge lights LOL). Dirt in the rain, though ...? eeeewww.

You girls make me a little jealous of your stories with Taz and Luther ... Haddie's NOT a social girl, which means dog parks and the like are out for us. She's a rescue and was abused for the first two years of her life and was not socialized as a puppy. Now she sees every other dog as a threat. She only gets to go on walks every so often due to her arthritis, but as you can imagine, it's a treat (HA! not) when we come across other dogs. Humans?! Oh, she LOVES humans and will roll over for a belly rub every time. Rae, I can totally relate to the dog snoring, though ... haddie's got quite the instrument herself! ;)

Well, before I get started on work stuff, I'm going to go check out some of the challenges and get a little scrapping on.

good morning - had Luther out for a walk and OMgosh he is one stubborn dog. He is not really going on a walk he is going on a rabbit hunt. He only wants to walk the route he has taken where he has seen rabbits. And sure enough we see them and he is happy. I was going for a longer walk and he just stood there with he paws planted and just looked at me with those eyes. So I let him lead me back to our house. Well there was a bunny in our front yard. Too funny! Watched the USA mens soccer team win their game and then Costa Rica win their game so the USA is off to the quarter finals. The game was exciting.

Chris congrats on doing the relay! I am glad you and your dad had the time to walk together. Too funny about your parents and Cait's new pets. Interesting how your pets gravitate to different people! Enjoy your puttering today!

Kat Hi! Wow you have been busy! Those are long days! I am truly fortunate that Luther does like other dogs and people. It is so funny how in my eyes Luther is big but how in others Luther is BIG.

Trudy congrats on the rain! I love the smell after a rain. How interesting you don't usually get thunderstorms. If I knew I would not lose power I would like thunderstorms much better.

Rae your time at the trailer sounds so fun! I wish there was a place that Luther could run free near us. Enjoy the day!

I am trying to do this as I listen to the latest on the shootings in Orlando! So senseless!

Good morning, ladies. We had a long walk last night with the dogs and they came back to the trailer and passed out for the night. Hubs and I watched a movie and then everyone went to bed. Beckham let me sleep in until 8:30 this morning (he was standing next to me softly grumbling and touching my hand lol). So everyone got up. They've had breakfast, we played/wrestled out on the deck and now they are both on the couch with me, snoring away. We'll head home in a few hours (we like to get out of here in the morning before the border lineup gets too busy). Last night I had a huge plate of BBQ asparagus with pork chops for dinner...yum! If you've never tried a grilling sheet on the BBQ, I do recommend them, especially for veggies. They cook more evenly as they don't get the flame hot spot burning. It's good for any fatty meat too. I am so glad a friend recommended we get one. It's the thin black pad,not the thicker silicone one you see all the time in the stores in the baking section.

Chris - too bad for the rain during the walk and so weird about the dirt raining down. Hope you have a relaxing day and the soreness lets up as the day progresses. Yes, share some pics of the new pets.

Trudy - yes, wouldn't it be fun to have a get-together with all of us, a nice hike, a late lunch and some wine while we relax outdoors (we would need the sun to shine). That would be so much fun. Nancy could bring Luther so him and Taz could wear each other out playing. If I ever win the lottery, I'll get us all together :)

Nancy - we don't get many thunderstorms which is good for Taz b/c the thunder freaks him out but I miss the Ontario thunderstorms I remember as a kid/young adult. We would sit out on the porch and watch the light show in the sky. The power would go out all the time of course but I don't ever remember it being more than a few hours. Not like BC where it can go out for the whole day. That is so cute about Luther and the bunnies. Taz would be in heaven if we had bunnies, he would be running with them. At the pet store he tries to touch noses with them.

Kat - poor Haddie, never being socialized before you got her and not enjoying other dogs. Enjoy your scrapping day!

I'm getting some breakfast now and will take the dogs out for a walk before heading home. Have a wonderful day, everyone.

Hi ladies... late in here today, but I have been busy cleaning bathrooms etc. DH is on the front porch giving it a fresh coat of paint. It is making it look all nice and bright again. He is doing the entire house, but not sure how long that will take to finish. I am thinking it will be an on going process for the summer and fall! Yesterday we did a lot of pruning and cleaning up in the yard and side hill. It looks so much better now. It is incredible how fast all the bushes grow and start to take over.

Chris - It is Italian day in Vancouver today and the vendors in Little Italy are all out with there amazing food. I was thinking of you when I saw it on tv and wish I could be there to partake in the festivities. It looks like an amazing time!! Dirt in the rain?? Oh my that can't be good! Funny about Cait making faces at the Principal :pound: Glad that the relay was a success and WTG for your fun raising!! Hope your Dad was not too upset for the rest of the day! I would have probably done the same as your parents for visiting the rat babies :becky:

Kat - Loving your new AVI!! Sorry that Haddiei is not so social with other dogs, but she has you, the person who saved her and that's what matters most!! Oh BTW you work too much LOL!!

Nancy - Oh that darn Luther, only worried about hunting rabbits :becky: too funny!! Sounds like you have had your fill of soccer this weekend!! Isn't it just horrible about the shootings in Orlando!! What a senseless act of violence!! It just breaks my heart!!

Rae - Glad that the dogs had such a great time together at the ranch!! I swear if I win the lottery that is one of the first things I will do is to bring us gals all together for a fun filled weekend somewhere, not sure where, but I guess the Island would be as good a place as any. It would be so much fun!! Hope you get across the border before the large line ups start!!

Better get us some lunch and then I have some online shopping to do for a few things. The sun is trying to shine now so I hope we can be outside for a bit also! Have a great Sunday everyone!!
