And uh huh-- I am 100% trying to convince myself about it LOL!

How was your Friday?
It felt like Find a New Critter day at work. :p One of my groups found two larvae that we hadn't seen before. We took some pictures and googled at lunch and we're pretty sure they were horseflies. One of the kids asked me what this guy was:

1717237496545.png
I had to google that one too- it is an Eastern Eyed Click Beetle. I had seen solid black ones before but not with the awesome false eyes. Another staff member found a spider she didn't recognize and an insect with blue wings. the best thing about nature is that you are constantly seeing new stuff. Only two weeks left for field trips then it will be training for summer camp. I am not sure involved I will be with that but I'm hoping I'll be working at least part of the summer.

I'm off to First Aid training all day and as I was skimming through the handbook yesterday, I got more than a little queasy. There is a section on eye injuries. I don't do good with eyes. If there is a TV show that has gross stuff with eyes, I can't watch. Criminal Minds was notorious for that. I automatically squeeze my eyes shut and the family lets me know when it is safe to look. When I was teaching, if a kid got something in their eyes I had to take them to another teacher. just ewwww.
Great, I just made myself squeamish right now.

I am not sure how much I'll be around today and tomorrow but have a fantastic weekend!!

@taxed4ever Congrats!!!! *throws confetti and blows on a horn* Nope, not congrats on the new house (although I do feel that too) but congrats on surviving moving your ILs to their new home LOL!!!
Do you have any hair left or have you pulled it all out? Have you and Linda compared ulcer symptoms? I hope that FIL settles down a bit so now everyone can enjoy the situation a little more.
Good luck unpacking them over the next few days/weeks *fingers crossed it won't be months* :eek3:

@AK_Tracy Thank you for the compliments on the favors ♥ LMBO at the "bootiful"
I am super careful about not using anything with bleach for the septic. "Clean" TP goes in the trash. We broke our septic years ago when all four of us were on abx at the same time. That was fun :/
I googled El Dorado and it sounds similar in play style to a couple of games we have. Rise of the Tribes and Sandstorm (I think that's the name). But most like Tribes--

@BrightEyes *gentle hugs and muscles easing thoughts coming to you* Me-- I think you should be banned from scrapping more than one color play a month. You always do yourself in. ;) xo

@Cherylndesigns So glad that you got a good night's sleep and hope you got another one last night. Did you and Adrienne get a chance to relax and breathe a bit getting your pedis?

Ahhhh!!! puppies in headbands!!
Love them all so much!!! :dancingdog:

@mimes1 Amy--- sending you and Ike lots of hugs and love. BTDT with the accidents and chicken and rice and the worry. Do you have one of the belly slings for him on the stairs? We got one on Amazon for J's surgery and it was nice and soft and easy to resize the handles for 4'11" me and 5'11" Gary. If you don't; have one, I can find the brand we got for you.
That's so interesting about the baking soda for the septic. I've never heard of that before. We used some enzymes during the time we were on abx to helpt he bacteria. Baking soda with be nice and inexpensive
Thx!

Tiem to get off the computer.

Hugs!

Quick in and out this morning. It's raining right now and we have the Ribbon Walk at 8:30 so hope it lets up by then. We went to the carnival last night and I got some ranch & garlic cheese curds, my treat once a year on the first night when the oil is fresh. There was a wine and cheese tasting. I'm not sure if I met cheese or wine that I don't like. Stormed like crazy with lightning so the carnival rides shut down. Many were disappointed "The Zipper" was not running, I was not among that group, throwing up is something I try to avoid. Not even my leggings have zippers. Just bought some Color Play items. ACDSee has been giving me fits for about 3 days so I feel your pain @bcgal00 , support was hopeless, but I finally went to the forum where someone there gave me some direction, he thought it could be a Windows issue, so after about 3 hours I managed to get it to install again so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
OOOOOOOOOOOpening new OOOOOOOOO goodies is as satisfying as when I would open new books for the first time and hear that crack and the aroma of paper wafting to my nose. Allergies have me stuffed up again, but I'm hoping for no cracks or wafts from my computer. Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning, all. I was smart last night and rubbed the neck, right shoulder and arm with Asper Cream and took a pain pill just before turning the light off at 10PM. Managed to sleep most of the night (only woke up twice) and finally woke up @8AM. Got my LO for Challenge #7 - Recipe uploaded into the gallery and other places. And 2 more of the Color Play LOs uploaded after that. Yes, the shoulder is still bad - so no scrapping for a few days until it is better. <<< sigh >>>

Must admit that it was so nice to walk through the house with everything back in place and looking so nice and clean! Decided to take a page from Son Jim... no shoes on in the house! I either wear socks or indoor slippers. That keeps the carpets looking clean. Today will be a PJ day - laid back and just relaxing. Things will pick up later on this week as we get busy with pricing stuff for the garage sale this coming weekend.

Sorry no personals as the shoulder and hand are yelling at me. HAGWE

Good Morning everyone!

Kay @BrightEyes I'm glad to see youre going to take it easy this weekend. Wish I had a tried and true pain relief to share. Glad you got some sleep. That helps.

@JeanneMN dont ya love opening new O kits??? Its like Christmas. And then the ideas start to flow and before you know it the housework didn't get done but your happy :giggle4:

@faerywings have fun this weekend with training. Eyes are gross. I agree. But gaping wounds do me in. I hope youre able to do your first aid without too much

Quick in and out before I head to work. First of the month at storage place is always hoping. Wont be reading at work. But it will fly by as it will be busy.

@JeanneMN Glad you got yours figured out. I haven't had any luck so far. I don't think there is anything I can do, my system is getting older and isn't compatible with windows 11 so no updates available for me. I think I just have to buy a new computer sometime this year. My ipad is having the same problem.

I'm getting some CT stuff done this morning, was out getting some yard work done and will be getting some housework done this afternoon before heading out to the lake with Remi and maybe Darrell might come too. Then groceries on the way home b/c I need to make a cheese dip for game day tomorrow. The baby finches are flying now but coming back to the nest off and on throughout the day. I think mama robin is getting frustrated, she keeps pecking at her eggs, she wants them born NOW! Don't blame her, it must be boring and uncomfortable just laying in the nest all the time. Can't wait to see the babies soon.

Enjoy the day, everyone.

Hello all and Happy Saturday evening.

I've been gone most of the day, then Adrienne and Ali came over and Ali cut Adrienne's hair. They were all worried about the hair but I told them I needed to sweet anyway. I haven't since Steph and Asher left. I saw some dust bunnies his am but hadn't had time to get after them.

Part of living on the compound is that we have rental properties and will soon have 2 more, with another 4 coming. Today was "all hands on deck" because we had someone moving into the little cabin and will soon have new tenants in "the brick house."

Adrienne and Roger were working at the little cabin, and I went to help Ava at "the brick house". We have to identify them as such so we know what's what LOL Ali rents the fifth wheel. Okay, now that that's all straight. Braden has been working outside all day, laying sod, getting the new sidewalk ready to lay cement. It will run all the way down to my house, which will be so much easier than walking up the hill with all the rocks. When we first moved out here, we lived in "the brick house" for several months while they were building our house up on the hill. Anyhoo, everybody was called into action today to get both places ready to rent. They go fast once they're listed and somebody is moving into the little cabin this evening. We live about a mile from a huge lake and it's a big draw, especially in the summer. We were doing Air BNB's, but that's too much work and people are always looking for long term rentals. SO, that's been my day. I should do a LO someday about the transformation Ava and I did a couple of years ago on that little cabin. It was gorgeous when we finished. Then a single guy moved in for almost two years and boom - had to start completely over. It was pretty trashed. UGH.

Chris @faerywings yes, we got to unwind yesterday, and I was lucky to get the nail tech that I love. Her name is Vicki and she calls me "Mommy". Most of them, call me Mom, Adrienne is "Daughter" and Ava is "Granddaughter". Anyway, Vicki is awesome and really gives the most wonderful leg and foot massages. She always teases me because I only want white polish - gel. She always pulls out a bottle of red and says, "You want different color?" Then laughs so hard because she knows I only do white. Adrienne had her nails done too, and they always let me set in the massage chair while I wait on her.

The June Art Journaling Challenge is up for anybody who's interested. Our word prompt for the month is Connect. Here's the link: https://oscraps.com/community/threads/june-art-journaling-week-1-connect.39904/ Shameless plug, huh?

I think I'll stop now. It's the first time I've been idol all day and I need to get myself straightened out. I haven't even looked at the new monthly challenges.

Hugs to everybody and I hope the rest of your Saturday is great.

XOXO

Happy Sunday!!! It's another beautiful weather day here and I'm gonna be stuck inside. Booooooooo. hissssssss.

The first day of training is over and I am over the moon thrilled that my brain did not explode. For real! Although, that would have made an impromptu scenario for head/brain injuries LOL! There is so much information that I think I internalized it as being back in college, scribbling notes non-stop, because I dreamed that I got back together with my college ex. Blech!
The funniest part of the day: I was paired up with a big dude--- easy 200+ lbs, and we were doing different drags. I tried really hard, but couldn't move him at all. Not even a millimeter. It had to have looked hysterical hahaha! One of the instructors came over and she demonstrated some better foot placement and even she only could move him a few inches. But it turned out to be a teachable moment for me that sometimes I can't move a person on my own so I'd need to improvise. In that case, I could have log-rolled him out of danger. The guy was funny too, we were L Our BO.

Today we are back at it with a lot of splinting and evacuation scenarios. They suggested that we bring our backpacks with the things we usually carry with us when hiking. When Scott got me this pack last year, he stuffed it full of misc. first-aid supplies, now I'll get a chance to figure out what it's all for. Hehe :p Recently, I was taking out the water bladder and found one of those things you get in a bubblegum machine, the plastic case for toys. YKWIM? I didn't have a clue what it was for until it dawned on me that it was for the bite part of the water tube, to carry a clean spare maybe?

That's it here, wishing everyone a super, fantastic, and wonderful day! :hug4:

@JeanneMN the cheese curds sound soooo good! 100% with you the wine and cheese. One reason I can never be vegan, cannot -- repeat- can NOT-- give up cheese.
OMG-- :rotfl: over the zippers. That's me with buttons. I've hated them for as long as I can remember, can't even use them on scrap pages. You should see me try to finagle that on recipe challenges.

I have a quick librarian question for you. Have you ever read a digital book to children? One of the Amazon 1st reads is a kid's book about camping. I am trying to get my hands on some children's nature books if we are ever able to get a homeschool/preschool program at Weis. Do you think this generation of kids would be able to listen to/see a book being read on a tablet?
thanks!

@BrightEyes I hope you enjoyed your PJ day! Glad to hear that you are trying to minimize using your shoulder.
I love the concept of no shoes in the house but never was able to follow through. Too many kids/dogs in and out all day long which is why I steam clean my carpets every couple of months and it still isn't enough. :/

@AK_Tracy Hope that work wasn't/isn't too busy. Make sure you take breaks when you can. Hang on to some extra spoons!

@bcgal00 Remind me tomorrow when I have more time to go through my old emails for my ACDSee fix... I'm sure that you did everything they suggested and it didn't work but I know I tried one other thing and it worked.
I feel for Mama Robin but at least she doesn't have her babies inside of her. The last few weeks of human pg are the worst! :floorlaugh:

@Cherylndesigns What busy days you are having getting the rentals ready. I'm sure that between Bradon and Ava, they got it all looking awesome! I forgot that you lived in the little house first. Definitely do a LO about that :)
Vicki the Nail Tech must be a hoot!

Quick in and out. Had a very fun time meeting and spending time IRL with my scrapping friend from Nebraska. We finally got a break from the rain yesterday afternoon and evening.

@faerywings I did read e-books to my grands a few times. I was reading a chapter book so harder to keep their attention and but it could have been them LOL, it was Covid and it was over Zoom. Theoretically an e-book chapter book shouldn't be any different. As long as they can see the pictures in a picture e-book I don't think it would make a difference. When I read I always held the books so the kids could see the pictures as I was reading, from the side is a bit of a challenge. Short answer they 'should' be able to listen unless of course a thread or piece of lint catches their attention. ;) I always used different voices which the kids loved, you'll feel silly at first, but that really does pull them in if the story has characters speaking to each other. Guess my short answer got long too.

Yesterday ended up being only half a PJ day. Got dressed at noon - into shorts and tee as the Gown and housecoat were too warm. It was 92* so had the A/C running for the first time this season. DD#3 called and we plotted out what we needed to do this week to get ready for the garage sale. She will come down tomorrow to load up several more things for the sale. We will need a few more bins so I will put them in my car and follow her back to her house. We will tag stuff and make signs for the bins. Hope we can get all that finished in one day. Then I will go back over there on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Have to remember to wear a sun hat and long sleeved shirt... the sun and I don't get along well. While she is here, I will have her climb on the step-stool and get down "the Left Behind" books that are on top of the bookcase. Easier to have her hand the books off to me... no up and down off the step-stool. And I pulled off more books for the sale. I will let DD decide which books might sell and which should just be donated.

I did spent time on the massager with the heated neck pillow a couple of times yesterday. Finished reading "Prey" by Linda Howard (a library book). Always enjoy her books. The neck, shoulder, arm and hand are still achy so will take another day of rest today.

Good morning. I'm in here so early. Daisy got me up earlier than I wanted to get up, but I stayed up. She heard the cat outside and was trying to "tell me" that he wanted in. They're so funny.

Yesterday, I deep cleaned the bathroom I so remember living there and it brought back memories. It's a cute little house but it only had one bathroom. The bathroom is adorable, albeit dirty before I started on it. It always reminded me of a fifties California bungalow bathroom, with all of the tilework. I discovered a new cleaning tool though and I'm going to order me one on Amazon. It's a Libman mop, but it has a scrub brush on one side and a sponge on the other so you can switch back and forth. It was such a great help, and I even used it on the bathtub and up the walls of the tub.

The funniest thing about living there was that we no internet. I was on the CT here then and was darned sure not putting that on hold! I could use my phone hotspot for everything but downloading the big zipped files. So, almost every day, Chuck and I would get in the car and go somewhere that had public wifi and sit in their parking lot and I would hook up and download my files. It was pretty funny and I have a LO in the gallery about "my office". I'll have to look for it.

Chris @faerywings what a hoot about that big guy being your partner. I can just see you trying to move him. You're getting some valuable knowledge though - Ava is certified in CPR and so it Steph.

Jeanne @JeanneMN I love curds, too! I'd never had it until we went to Minnesota to fish years ago. I still buy them when I see them. Like Chris, I can't give up my cheese.

Chris @faerywings Vicki, the nail tech is a hoot. Most of them aren't as funny or as engaging as she is. That's why I like to get her if I can. She always makes me laugh.

Hugs to everybody who stops in and happy Sunday.
XOXO

I glanced at all the challenges & aj layout and cant wait to get started.
@faerywings That's SO funny they paired you with such a large man. I am glad you were both laughing though. That helps. I remember in jr high going to swim lessons as part of gym class. The instructor was in the deep end showing how to rescue someone while youre out of the water. She gave me the pool noodle and said pull me out. She wasn't tiny and proceeded to pull the pool noodle and yanked me right into the water. Mortified! Jr. High, wet hair, boys saw that LOL

Like @JeanneMN I've read to my kids on ebook format. It helped they were in my lap and not a class. I think the platform doesn't matter so much as it just needs to be a fun, good book. I found a freebie, Alphabet Soup on amazon and my youngest two loved it. Its was ebook. Great photos. Fun silly story. I bet if you found fun books the kids would love it. And yeah voices help :giggle4:

@BrightEyes I am amazed at what you get done even while you hurt. :yourock: I see all youre doing and whew I'm tired reading it. Glad you are taking care of yourself though and resting as needed and using the massager. That will help lots.

@Cherylndesigns your compound sounds so fun!! And the tiny brick house sounds adorable. Its always so fun to see where and what we did when younger or newly married. I love that you can still spend time in the original house, even if its just cleaning. Our first house is now a rental we have and its so hard to go in and clean it, seeing what people have done to my house. One renter was so bad, I had to hire several college kids to come wack the lawn. Mowing wasn't going to cut it at all. Was so mad at the former (friend) renter who did that to my house. Hope yours is back in shape in nothing flat.

Alright, dogs are all four staring me down. Guess they want breakfast. Such demanding cuteness.
Have a great day everyone!

Good morning ladies. I have been busy watching our mama birds and her babies. The crossbills are getting brave today. We watched the first one leave the nest and fly to the fence. It took an hour or so for it to make it back to the nest. The others are not quite ready. Mama robin was feeding her first baby this morning. It's so exciting to watch :)

I'm heading out to a game day and the dogs get to hang out together and play too.

HAGD everyone. Gotta go....

It really is unbelievable what people do to rentals. The worse one was the little cabin - it's an efficiency - one big room with a bed and a kitchen, a full bathroom and the cutest deck in the back, overlooking a scenic spot. Two years ago, Ava and completely revamped it and Roger just had to put all new flooring in and replace the toilet. It was torn up. The "brick house" that we lived in was decent - just needed to be repainted and deep cleaned. A couple with a little boy had been in there for about a year and it wasn't too bad. They took the washer/dryer with them that wasn't theirs, though.

HI everyone - a quick in and out for right now. Mark had another couple of lows last night so we're laying low today. I'm not sure If I told you I got the vinyl windows all done, but today we discovered some of the shrubs and one of our elephant ears have wilted. I'm not happy. I will not get the house power washed ever again - all this to get some algae off the dormers. At first I thought the windows looked ok but they don't really. Mark did wash the exterior windows on the front of the house this morning, feeling lousy and all. He's a good one. I'll work on the upstairs windows tomorrow.
Ike still has tummy trouble but he's eating. His probiotic is all gone so I ordered some on Chewy and it will be here tomorrow. He did make it up the stairs a couple times on his own. It's probably 50/50 now that he's doing it on his own which is a huge improvement from the other day. @faerywings I have never heard of the belly lift thing for dogs but I bought one on Amazon and it will be here today. I'm looking forward to seeing if he tolerates it - if so it will be a big help.

@bcgal00 So glad to hear your baby birds are all doing OK! We had a nuthatch family on our chimney the other day and we had a Mama cardinal feeding her baby this morning. And I saw my first hummingbird of the season zoom past me yesterday so they feeders will go up tomorrow.

Heading out to go get pumpkin for Ike's tummy. Have a good rest of the day everyone!

:angry3: That's so not okay. Please tell me you kept the deposit for that. That's so wrong. We have an upright freezer in ours. I told the rental company (had to get someone else to do it so I could evict someone) that when it dies I am not replacing it. Its still going strong, that 1970's rust brown model. Every tenant knows they can use it but its a bonus and wont be replaced.

Oh, they didn't get away with it. They tried to say they replaced it because it wasn't working. It was working just fine. Yes, those old appliances seem to run forever. My parents had an ancient deep freeze in their garage from the Stone Age. Their refrigerator in the kitchen was just a little big younger.

EDITED: I'm such a dork! I responded to your post a long time ago and forgot to hit "reply". :floorlaugh: :lol23:
