Go me!! Guess what I *finally* did yesterday? I unpacked the party stuff, made the list of the last-minute things I will need to get, and packed them all up again. I don't know exactly why I was so resistant but at least it is done. Cait seems so unenthused about party ATM, maybe it's because she feels like graduation was so long ago. Now she is getting busy with applying for jobs- she has an interview lined up for July 28. *fingers crossed* Not to mention her brain is in "wedding mode."
I am shocked that I slept really well last night. No kooky dreams that I can remember. No waking up in a panic.

Is everyone ready for the weekend? I am. I am off to the FP this morning and Sam is cooking dinner for us tonight. She wants to thank us for letting her stay here while her roommates had covid. So sweet of her. She is a good cook too so I am excited.
*whispers* Go TeamSam

I think I am just going to putter around the house, I need to water my plants but I don't know if they need any weeding ATM. If the weather stays dry, I have to spray paint some cardboard frames for the party- photo booth props. And yes, I am still very far behind on scrapping, so that needs to be taken care of too

Hugs to you all!

@LSlycord what a whirlwind of a week and trip for you and Syd. Why will it take the kids in that major so much longer to graduate? I think that would be a fascinating career, in the bioengineering/ag realm. IMHO- the climate is going to make food production harder and more complex- already it- I would imagine that is going to be a much-needed area of expertise and research
Hope that you have no plans when you get back home, you are going to need to decompress for sure.

@taxed4ever You Gary sounds exactly like my FIL Gary. MIL was saying how he hurt his shoulder doing yardwork and refused to stop working out there. He has a grandson that has offered to help a million times, plus he has more than enough $ to pay a landscaper too. Nope, needs to have "stuff" to do at all times. ;)
Happy Birthday to Hunter!!!! #birthday
tell him that all of his O-Aunties are wishing him a fab day!!

@Cherylndesigns never, ever dull-- no water for two hours? That is sweet of Casey to come back to finish floors.
That is fantastic about the treadmill!

@BrightEyes You have been busy, Did the EHD get there?
I am always impressed by people who can multitask successfully. I am perfectly capable of "multi-tasking." It's the "successfully" part that always trips me up.

#dk

xoxo to you allll!!

I am soooo #TeamSam. Nothing better to build love on than friendship. And now you tell me she cooks!? You go girl! Is there a photo of Sam somewhere? I want to see if she's a good match for Scott's handsomeness!

Ready for the weekend? Guess not, cuz my first thought when I saw that this thread was up, was: "Oh, it's weekend now?". Total vacation mode here, had no idea what day it is.

Woke up super creative today. Already made 2 (if I may say so myself) darn good layouts this morning. So nice when the mojo hits you. Been a couple of not so good days.

Decided I need to do more journaling on my layouts again. I want this hobby to be about story telling again. So, I'm changing my focus a bit when it comes to scrapping. I'm looking for photos that tell a story, more than (what I've been doing a lot lately) looking for a nice artsy kit. At the same time, I'm trying to learn new things. @wombat146 taught my to make gesso show better on the layouts, and I'm trying to master this skill. Not there yet, but it sure looks better.

I feel pretty good right now but I was exhausted! I was in bed and asleep at 8:30 last night. On the way home from Gainesville, Syd got the email telling her the names and contact information for her roommate and suite mates. She is on the 13th floor of the dorm (the top floor) and she has a suite with a kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. Each bedroom has two beds and one desk. Then the kitchen has the other two desks. Syd thinks she wants her desk in the kitchen and I doubt that her roommate will have a problem with that. LOL

Anyway, her roommate is from Trinidad. I think that is so exciting. Syd started a group chat with all four of them and she and one of the other suitemates did quite a bit of talking. The other two girls knew each other in elementary school but totally lost contact so don't think there will be any automatic cliques. As a matter of fact, Syd and Leanne seemed to hit it off pretty well last night.

I think it will be a slow day here...scrapping, some cleaning, taking another look at the lists for what we need to purchase in the dorm. Less than six weeks and she is gone.

And, lest I forget, Shaun kept everything going on the home front. (Brian went with Syd and me.) He took care of the dogs and got the trash out before the trash people came and the empty bin was back in the garage when we got home. He had a 10 hour day at work but he used his lunch hour to come home to let the dogs out. Oh, it's the little things in life for sure.

@faerywings I'm not sure why it takes them so long to make it through these majors. But I agree...I think there will be plenty of demand. Interesting because the pay is pretty decent and I think you can really make a difference in the world. Not often do they pay well for that. Glad that you got into the box for the party and I suppose that I get that Cait has mentally moved on to other things. Let's face it, everyone will be talking about the engagement and I'm sure that she will enjoy herself. Good luck on that interview...fingers crossed. And go Team Sam!

@tanteva I am so envious of your vacation mode! Can't wait to see your layouts telling stories...you know that I have a real soft spot for layouts that tell stories!

@BrightEyes I hope that the EHD arrived. All of my photos are backed up at SmugMug and I think that I'm going to start doing that with my layouts that I want to print as well. But I think that I may want an EHD for the kits...I do have cloud storage but the truth is that I'm just not that "sold" on it. Even though I've used it at work for years.

@Cherylndesigns it does stay busy at your place! The shootings are...I don't even know what word to use. At preview, they had a session where they showed us a video of a simulated active assailant. It really was very hard for me to watch. I kept gasping and Sydney kept shushing me. I couldn't help it. It was so realistic and it completely tore at my heart.

@taxed4ever your Gary reminds me of Brian...he always has to have projects. I keep telling him he needs a hobby. But just doing things is his hobby I guess. And you are exactly right "finds what she is passionate about and that she does live a happy fulfilling life!! That is what we all wish for, for our children!!"

I'll be back later.

Yesterday was a busy day. I am working on cleaning up the files before I move any of them onto the new HD. Have already copied to DVDs then deleted over 30GBs of files from the computer. I want to do more cleaning up - deleting files before I start moving the files I want to keep. The computer is already running faster! ! ! !;):p Will be working on more clean-up and copying for the next several days... and will not be scrapping until I get most of that done. Yes, the ExHD arrived late yesterday afternoon. Will wait to get more clean-up done before starting to use it.

@faerywings You go, girl!! Knew you would get to checking out the stuff of the party. It can serve as a double celebration... graduation and engagement. Saw the photo of the ring on FB... so pretty.

@LSlycord WOW... that sounds like a long time to get the degree... especially since she already has her general ed already done. Glad she is already getting acquainted with the roommate via computer. That was packed full time for the preview.

Gotta go close the house up and grab another cup of coffee - then back to cleaning up the computer. CYL

Good morning all.

I'm up early - the girls and I are going out to lunch then into town to do some shopping. It's pretty hot, but I'm going - I've been staying indoors during this heat wave. Ava and "the girls" came over yesterday afternoon - are they ever growing. They come bounding in the door and immediately start licking us all over (kisses). Then they head straight to Daisy's water bowl and to see if she has any uneaten food.

Braden got his first solo flight in yesterday! He did SO well - we didn't go because they had to be there at 8 AM and it's over an hour away. He has to get 15 hours of solo flying in, so we'll go at some point. Adrienne took a good video and he landed that plane as smooth as silk.

Chris @faerywings good for you for going through all of the stuff for the party. I'm sure Cait is pre-occupied now about the engagement. Haha Plus, the fact that you couldn't have the party right after graduation makes it seem a little anticlimactic to her. It will be fun and she'll enjoy it! Yay for Sam cooking dinner - enjoy!

I love my little treadmill and walked on it twice yesterday - got interrupted both times, but I think I got a pretty good total walk in. Ava asked me where I was going because I had my shoes on. I guess that means that I NEVER wear shoes - I'm either barefoot or have my slippers on in the house. Hahaha I told her nowhere - I had been on my treadmill.

Linda @LSlycord what a busy and exciting weekend you had! Can you believe you're sending Syd off to college so soon? They grow up so fast. I can just see her "shusshing you" while you were watching that video. They're VERY realistic and hopefully, people will start knowing how to react - to any kind of danger. There's a show on Saturday night where this guy shows basic self-defense moves for women. I always love seeing it.

I'm going to go get myself together and sit and have my morning chat with Chuck. Have a good weekend.

Good morning ladies. Not much happening today. I've started watching a British show Wolfe which we like so far. Jen got home from Vancouver and is happy to be back. Bella was overjoyed and couldn't stop racing around, licking everyone and barking in happiness.

I'll check in later. I need to make some phone calls and get more coffee. Have a good day everyone.

I could not get out of bed this morning, I slept fine so it wasn't that I was too tired. There wasn't any reason to get up so I waited until my hip and shoulder hurt too much to stay there. Even Whisky didn't bug me to take her outside.
let's see, yesterday was quiet and I don't think I got a lot accomplished. I can tell that the FP is falling on hard times too, there was very little available. I am always grateful for what they do have so I am not complaining, not at all. Gary was very happy that I got a pack of bacon and I was happy about the coffee.

I spent most of the afternoon outside, there was a cherry tree sapling growing next to the house. I dug it up and transplanted it on the property line. As I was digging the hole, I hit more of that bleeping tarp buried under the soil. I had to uncover and cut out enough of the tarp to get the tree roots in deep enough. As long as I had enough ground dug up I split up some lilies and black-eyed Susans. I hope it rains so they take the transplanting. (It is not going to rain so I am going to have to drag some water jugs over there today. Blergh)
Dinner was delish, Scott and Sam made pepperoni pizza and pulled pork empanadas and I ate so many of them. She offered to cook for me any time I wanted. ;)

I have my to-do list filling up for today. Little stuff mostly. Not in the mood to do anything, just feeling kind of lazy.
Still haven't scrapped. I think I burned myself out last month.

Gary sent me this photo last night. I haven't seen Tif out and about during the day but he sees them almost every night on the patio. Last night they were tucked under the pot that I made into a home for them. Tif hangs out in this long planter and buries themselves in the dirt. I put a broken clay pot in case they didn't want to dig a hole. I was sooooo stoked that they were using it!

I wish that you could come sit on my pool deck with me @faerywings. You would see all sorts of stuff...frogs and toads and anoles. Even more than that, I wish I liked them the way you do. They really freak me out. But, it's only my 4th summer here so I'm still adjusting. LOL

Got a good nap in yesterday afternoon. Did some scrapping. Paid some bills. Needed to get groceries but just couldn't bring myself to venture out. So today is a must leave the house day.

Started this morning by introducing myself over FB to the mother of Syd's roommate. She has been asking lots of questions on the parents' UF FB page so I reached out. Seems like a nice woman and I think that she appreciated me reaching out.

I'm off to get cleaned up and head out for groceries. Both kids are working today but I'm going to try to have something they can eat when they get home (at two different times of course ). I'll check back later.

@tanteva She cooks and she bakes! One of the first times Sam ever came to the house she brought a homemade cheesecake that was to die for. Mmmmmm.
oooh, I don't; know if I have any photos of her w/o the other two a******* in it. Scott went through his phone at one point and did some "creative cropping" but I don't know if I have anything myself. I will have to look.
yay for waking up with scrap mojo! Ona is amazing with her tutorials, I have to find out how to use gesso better too

@LSlycord you must be exhausted still, but I hope that you feel like you and Syd accomplished a lot. It sure sounds like you did. I cannot get over the housing on campus these days, I had a square concrete room with 2 beds, 2 desks, and 2 dressers bolted to the floor. That is great news that Syd and Leanne hit it off and that all four of them will know each other pretty well by the time they move in.
I hate that you had to watch the video. In the last several shootings (I HATE writing that too) the adults have said how the kids tell them what to do since they already know due to the drills. It's so awful
That is fab but totally unsurprising that Shaun kept everything going for you at home. *nods* it is the "little" things like the trash being taken out, especially in hot FL temps! ;)

@BrightEyes You have way more discipline than me about not scrapping until the hard drives are cleaned and ready to go. I used to have a deal with myself that I wouldn't download anything new until everything "old" was tagged and used. pfft. That didn't last long hahahaha

@Cherylndesigns You must have nerves of steel, Lady. I don't think I could watch -- or know in advance - a loved one fly a plane solo. Sedate me!!!
#doctor
Good for you for walking on the treadmill, keep it up!! *high 5s*
Any new pics of the "girls?"

@bcgal00 What network/service is Wolfe on? We tend to like the same shows and we are running out of things to watch. Again...
Bet it felt great to have Bella back home

Hugs!!

I would love to sit and chat with your wildlife. :)
Scott, Sam, my niece Jules and her BF went on a night hike the other evening. I grilled Scott about the new BF and while he said that he can never make an assumption about a BF/GF again, he noticed that they both talked all about the beetles and crickets they saw with the same level of fascination- which is all you can ask for I guess. LOL

That is great that you can chat with Syd's roommate's mom over FB. Is she in Trinidad? I imagine it will help her a lot to know that there is someone within driving distance "just in case"

HAGD!

Yesterday was another busy multi-tasking day like the day before. While each of the files were being copied (yes, I have to do them 1 at a time), I cleaned house, vacuumed and mopped floors, changed sheets and comforter on my bed and got the sheets washed and put away . It was a matter of setting up a file to be copied then work on a chore while it was doing the copying. Needless to say, I was one tired lady by late afternoon.

I have to confess... I did scrap a LO this morning. It is my dear husband's birthday and I always do a page to remember the day. Just remembered that I didn't print it out!!! Will get that done ASAP so I don't forget. I looked through the 2 memory albums I made to remember him and our life together and realized that I haven't printed any out since Jan of this year. Well... that means I need to print out a bunch of them before I move or delete files. So change of plans of how I will spend the day. That will be a fitting way to spend the day.

ETA: Just checked and I have 24 LOs to print out! Should never get behind like this.

I have been absent from here and just quickly popping in to say hello to you all! Another very busy weekend for us and DH is just outside making sure the sprinkler system is reaching where it needs to be. Then he will turn on the automatic timers and be done with this project finally! On to other jobs and keeping busy all day long! It is not the sunniest morning, but it is warm and its not raining, so a good day to get things done. I am busy with laundry and cleaning the bathrooms and then it will be time for us to have our brunch. We haven't eaten yet and my tummy is telling me its time. Bacon and Eggs I think will be on the menu today! I will catch up with all of you tomorrow, and I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!!

Good morning ladies. I have been getting steadily sicker these past couple of weeks and have been getting tests and hospital visits to figure out what is wrong.

Here is my update which is sounding much better than originally thought.

I spent yesterday in the hospital getting more tests but the good news is that they now suspect a new diagnosis and it is not lymphoma as they thought. They think I got a bite or scratch or something that let bacteria into my body and it created havoc, setting of an autoimmune flare, enlarging numerous nodes, creating head and neck pain, swelling, fatigue, headache, brain fog and chest tightness. All the tests they did yesterday point to a bacterial infection that got out of control and will monitor me for awhile to see that it improves. It's not a certainty yet but it looks good. This has been the most serious health scare I've ever had. Its been a scary 4 wks or so as this got worse and worse until I could barely get out of bed. One large head lesion has decreased and if the rest of the enlarged nodes start to subside and don't spread any further, I should start feeling better soon. I sure hope so. I lost 5 lbs this week and not much appetite, sleeping a lot. I still feel like crap and have a lot of neck pain but that is probably b/c the biggest lesion is on my neck and is probably pushing on muscles/nerves. It is about the size of a grape.

So, hopefully I am on the road to recovery soon. This city is not a good place to be sick in, there is little medical support here.

@faerywings Wolfe is a British show that aired on our telus cable.

Wow, what a morning! I printed out 24 pages that relate to Bill and/or us. When I was sorting them out, I realized that the last 3 pages had some major color problems... the blue had stopped printing half way through one page and didn't print at all on the last 2 pages. So ran the nozzle clean on the printer... still missing blue so ran it one more time. Then ran the head cleaner and all the colors were missing spot on the test print!!! Finally when to the BIG GUNS and had it run the heavy duty cleaner - which cleans out the color tubes in addition to other things. That did it!!! Blue is back to printing correctly. Got the 3 pages reprinted. Then spent over an hour deciding what order the pages should be put in the album. I am a stickler and want facing pages to be in complimentary colors and/or themes. Then realized that all the album had clear-smooth page protectors and all the new page protectors boxes had clear-bubble surfaces!!! Pulled out some paper-stamping older albums with clear-smooth page protectors and swapped out the pp. Over half the album had demo-pages with no photos... so will be discarding them since I am no longer a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Taking a break for the rest of the day as the back is aching and knee is talking to me!

Hi all.

It's going on later afternoon here. Well - it's now 5:25 - I'm baaaacccckkkkk. Adrienne popped in and we sat and talked for a couple of hours. I thought we were going to our local department store today, but we decided not to. Will go next weekend. I bought the cutest pair of jean shorts and a really cute summer top yesterday. There's this boutique in town that we love to go to and the owner is a doll - that's the shop we always act silly in. She loves it when we all come in. She actually had been to market and bought some things with us in mind. She always tells us things run big or small before we even try them on. This weekend was "Shop Local" so we did. She actually brought the shirt (that I bought) over to me. She wanted me to try it on.

Chris @faerywings ask and ye shall receive - Ava just sent me this picture of the girls - she got them these bandanas today and they look so patriotic and adorable. You can see how big they're getting.

the-girls.jpg
Yes, I guess I do have nerves of steel. I tried to upload the video of Braden landing the plane, but it's too big. I'll put it on You Tube and see if that works. I have some other cute pics of them, though. The first one is Braden with his instructor and the second one is him holding the back of his shirt. It's a tradition to cut the back of their shirt out and then write the date of their first solo flight. Then they hang it on one of the walls. LOLOLb-with-instructor.jpgb-with-shirt.jpg

Well, that's all of my excitement for the day - our water has stayed on all day. Hahaha
