The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Hello and good morning, my lOves!
Whoo hoo, I slept late today. 5:45 am. Can ya believe it?? :giggle4: Considering that it is almost 2 hours later than I slept yesterday, I'd say that is not too shabby.
I feel pretty decent, which is amazing since I worked 6 days in a row. It's been a long time since I did that kind of stretch.
Cleaning for my friend was good-- nice and mindless. She sent me home with a pressboard bookshelf for my classroom. It's a little wobbly and she thought maybe Gary could brace it somehow. He did, but it still isn't sturdy enough to use around kids who view everything as a climbing apparatus. He's going to put it in our attic to get some things off the floor. Probably perfect for our many boxes of puzzles.

I was so focused on summer camp things (and car issues LOL!) that it didn't dawn on me that yesterday was a Color Play Friday until I saw the HAPS. I scrapped a page for that in the afternoon and I cleaned my house a little bit. I found out that running the vacuum in the DR with the AC on in the LR will most definitely trip the circuit. :oops2: I couldn't reach the circuit box (too much **** in front of it and I have little T-Rex-sized arms) so I went around the outside--inside and out- and couldn't find Gary anywhere. I was so dang confused, so I called him on his cell. He had taken W for a walk. He wasn't planning on it but she decided she wanted to go to the creek and he took her. She wanted to keep going but he was like "no way, we are going home!" Too bad he came back to the AC being off while I was running around looking for him, hahahah!

I don't have any major plans for the weekend or the upcoming week. I should revel in that. (But will I :thinking2: ??) FP this morning and my parents are bringing bagels here tomorrow.

I have a bunch of Cheery O work that I need to do. I feel I am far behind on Gallery comments for my challenge. Would love to scrap some too.

What amazing plans do you have this weekend?

Make it a great one!

I hope you get some rest it sounds like you had a busy week...oh that's every day of every week.
hahah! I think it is all or nothing with me. Either I am running around in circles or I'm moping that I have nothing to do :D
We set up at the marina campsite yesterday afternoon. We took a ride around, there are so many changes in the 6 years since we were here. Then we went to our old marina to walk the docks but no one was there. They will arrive today and we will be meeting a dozen or so of them for dinner:groupchat: tonight so that will be awesome.
You are going to have such a fun time catching up. Enjoy!

All in all, I think you had a grand week....if not just a bit busy! ;). And it's not all bad if the parents are interested in another session, right? That's a good thing! Lessons learned from this session and all that! ;)
Yeah, been a long day for me, too! I was awake at 5 after tossing and turning all night and decided to just get up when Mark left at 5:30!
Yes, I am hoping that there's enough interest to run a second session. :praying2: And if not another mini-camp, we want to expand some programs for that age group. Any good exposure is a benefit!
Hope that you slept better last night too.

She and I will go to bed with the chickens tonight, LOL!
I was in bed by 8.30 and read until 9. Then: Out. Like. A Light!
What a lovely photo of you and the girls!
Happy Anniversary! Any exciting and/or romantic plans for the weekend?

Oh my goodness this is funny yet not. Its crazy the things we need to do and then realize we can't be alone with kids. Especially when it comes to potty things. Glad they all had fun though. Sounds like a great week.
It was funny but weird at the same time. What is really hard is when the little ones want to hug me. Again, legally, that is not allowed but how do you turn away from that age? So we try to disengage and do a fist bump or high five. A few of them would hold my hand when we were walking, and while technically not allowed, I wasn't about to stop them.
Its actually my honey who has it all figured out. I just get ready when he tells me.I'll ask, isn't it about time and he will then tell me all the info I dont need and what day would be best to go. :giggle4:
Yup, put all that data in the pile of "I don't need to know." :nod1:
Glad to hear that your body is at 90% normal. Impressive!!

Yeah, there are certain areas in the kitchen that I have to be careful or I will trip the fuse! If the toaster oven and the refrigerator happen to kick on at the same time.....oops! Since I don't cook much anymore, it usually is not a problem, however! ;)

I slept like a log last night as well! Until the dogs started whining and howling this morning!
Thanks! No romantic plans....going to supper at a friend's house tonight. Mark asked me if I had someplace in mind to go for our anniversary dinner. I said, "I don't know!" He said, "I don't know that place!" He's so funny! ;)

Good morning,
Laundry is the big plan for me today. In between loads I will probably work on some more bike pages. Haven't done that the last couple of days.
Other than that, the only real plans are that we are going to some friends' house for supper tonight. I guess that is how Mark and I will celebrate our 7th anniversary! ;)

Have a great weekend and stay cool!

Good Morning Ladies!

Happy Anniversary Vicky!! @vickyday

Not much happening today. Will be a quiet day at home. Yeah. Might catch up on personal scrapping, might read a book. Possibilities. I think my mind is still sleeping. Must get more coffee.

We went to a concert in the local park with a bunch of friends yesterday evening. Food truck, a brewery, and winery were there. A small rainstorm came by just before it was time to start and cooled it down for a half hour or so. Once the sun came back out it just made steam. But we had staked out a place in the shade and had a really good time for a couple hours. Then we could see the next thunderstorm building up over the mountains so it ended early. It's interesting, since there's a pool at the park they have a system that sounds a siren and blinks warning lights when it detects lightning within so many miles. This was the first time I saw it work.

Heat index is 109° at the moment. I'd love to know how many days its been over 100° this summer. I bet it's a record. Hard to convince myself it's a nice day for a bike ride, so I didn't.

I like the Color Play colors this month; picked up a collection. Starting to get used to Windows 11 (not so hard) and the new MS Office (harder, since I've been using Office 2010 for 15 years!). I use OneNote to catalog my supplies so I worked on getting that all set up like I like it this morning.

my parents are bringing bagels here tomorrow
I do miss good bagels! There was a place in Irvington we used to go to .... mmmm!

What is really hard is when the little ones want to hug me. Again, legally, that is not allowed
When I worked at the church, we had all kinds of training on this. We were told side hugs were good, face-to-face, not. Now how you make that work with 4 year olds, I have no idea.

I have to be careful or I will trip the fuse! If the toaster oven and the refrigerator happen to kick on at the same time.....oops!
For us it's microwave + toaster + lights over the island. Luckily that doesn't happen much. It's our own fault because we replaced the stove exhaust fan with a microwave and didn't think about it. Someday we'll get an electrician in.

The puzzle I'm trying to work out is replacing the washer and dryer. Eventually the thumping and banging will turn into "need a new washer" but since we've been in the house 11 years and it wasn't new then, it's not surprising. Front loaders are all the rage, right, but ours is in a closet off the kitchen, with folding doors in front. I think a front load washer will fit inside, but I've heard you should keep the door open for it to dry out, and that definitely won't fit inside. Anyone have this?

You would be okay. The door doesn't have to be open all the way, just cracked open for airflow. A friend has the in his bathroom with folding closet doors and they have to be closed for the bathroom door to open. I think newer machines might have a "clip" that pops between the door and body so they're cracked open. Its not full open. I prefer top loaders after going through 5 front loaders in 12 years. They just didn't last with the amount of laundry I do. I dont know if its the way they spin or what but I finally bought the industrial strength top loader LOL Told the guy I wanted the machine the oil field workers use and ya know what, three cycles to choose from, gentle, towels and normal and its still going strong after two years. Normally I would be looking at a new one at this point. Do some research on the best options. I wish I had looked a little deeper too see it wasn't a fit for my family. The washer is uses 5 days a week, 3-5 loads each day. Sounds like a lot but each person has one day of the week to do laundry, including bedding. Anyway that was a lot of ramble to say yes, you could fit a front loader in the space. Go talk to someone and lay hands on the machine and see how far the door has to be "open" for drying ventilations and then see if that will fit your space.

Mine has begun to be off balance a lot. I hope a new washer isn't in my future! I have always kept my washer lid open, too.

Happy Sunday to you all!
Second night in a row that I slept well. We turned the AC off before I went to sleep, and I swear that makes such a difference. The noise is just too annoying. Having the windows open and the ceiling fan on was *perfect.* Its still cool here ATM but I'm pretty sure it will get hot and humid as the day progresses. We are supposed to get some rain, which would be a blessing since we haven't had any in the last 10 days or so. All of the pop-up storms missed us.
FP was an easy trip, in and out in less than an hour. It was funny, I requested chips and they were out. Instead, they left a note that said they hoped I enjoyed the snacks they packed as a replacement. I got two bags of Hostess mini-donuts, two packs of Drakes cakes, and 4 mini apple pies. :rotfl: Tom can't eat them and Cait is watching her diet, so that means the rest of it is for me and Gary. *gulps* I will eat way too much of it even though I really shouldn't. Maybe I'll bring some to work this week. I had this week off but the director called last night to see if I could stand in as Camp Health Director, which is Nicole's position. She is going to be out of work due to illness until at least Wednesday. I'll be in the office for a few hours Tues and Wed.
:thinking2:
I see a problem here. If I bring the junk food into work, and I am in the office by myself, will I get bored and end up eating it anyway???

The patio is all finished and we can put the planters back today. Yay! There is only one problem... They put up new columns for the overhang, and they are wrapped in aluminum. That it where I have my bird feeders. We have to figure out where a good place will be to put them. We are looking at a pole system from Wild Birds Unlimited. Tom got me a GC for my birthday, which will help with the cost.
Has anyone used a pole for their feeders? Any recommendations? TIA!

My parents will be coming here in a little while and I have to work on my groceries for the week. I am making grilled veggie and tofu kabobs for dinner so I should think about getting that stuff marinating earlyish.

Have a fantastic day, my friends!!

PS: I forgot to add that I also got a huge tray of Ferrer Roche chocolates and a bakery apple crumb pie. I think that the FP is trying to kill me :rotfl:

Oh no! I used to turn the AC off before I vacuumed and I forgot this time. The kitchen circuits are weird and we trip them at least every other month. LOL!

yay for good sleep! That line from Mark had me chuckling!

Sorry that the rain didn't do much to cool the temps and then the storms cancelled the rest of the day. It sounds like you had a great time despite the weather, though. Scott was telling us a little bit about how the festival dealt with the thunderstorms- they shut down stage feeds to all of the screens and put warnings up on them. You couldn't miss them.
NJ bagels and pizza. You simply cannot get them anywhere else and have them half as good.
When I worked at the church, we had all kinds of training on this. We were told side hugs were good, face-to-face, not. Now how you make that work with 4 year olds, I have no idea.
Yeah, it is difficult. They are naturally affectionate at that age. I made sure that I crouched down and smiled at them a lot. I didn't wear my hat b/c I wanted them to see my face with no obstruction. But it is hard!
We have a front loader and we leave the door and the detergent drawer open but just a little. My parents were looking for a new washing machine this past week and they also want a top loader. They found one that you can take out the agitator when you want to do bulky items. I'll try to remember to ask them what brand it was.

@AK_Tracy -- so much laundry. :thud: I bet you were thrilled when the kids were old enough to do their own!
What did you end up doing yesterday? Anything fun? Or did you chill all day? Which would be fun too!

Time to head to the gallery and then to the grocery website.
HAGD!

I have a top loader washer and always have..Does the job not too many features, less stuff to go wrong. When we are traveling I use all different kinds. I'm not crazy about front loaders I think they are harder to take clothes out of with my old back. My daughters new house has 2 frontloaders -one for the kids and one them. One can stay open and the other not at all so this will be interesting. She bought some special cleaner to use to clean them. @AK_Tracy your family sure does use the machines, how many kids live at home with you???

@faerywings I'm glad you are getting better sleep it makes daily life so much better. My parents used to have several feeders on poles...they worked fine. I do not remember where they got them but I would guess it was a tall fence post from lumber yard. They did put a shield on then to keep the squirrels from climbing up. So glad your patio is done I look forward to seeing a page of that.
Wow that's too bad you have to go to work because you probably had things planned. But since you love your job so much it's not too much of a burden and you can much away on those yummy snacks plus no one will witness it.

Yesterday we left our marina campsite that I loved and came to our son's CT house (which I love too), it's 90 miles so it was a short travel day. He left his shop early so we helped him with a few projects in the morning. I cannot believe how much his garden grew in a month. We picked his beans and pulled a few weeds. We went to our daughters new house to help her....she is so disorganized so is having trouble putting stuff away. I helped her put some stuff away. They got off schedule because they all were at Cape Cod on vacation for a week then Kris went to Block Island to see a friend sing at Ballards so nothing got moved. At this point they are 95 percent moved in. DD and hubby are going to Greece on Aug 9 so want to be pretty settled in by then, she is stressing about that too. After we left there we stopped at grocery store to get some supplies. Mike wanted clam bake in a can that we used to get in Mystic when I called to order one they said they don't make them anymore...I looked online and got directions. I got a lobster for each, clams, mussels, shrimp, baby potatoes and we used Mikes corn. It gets layered then steamed when done pour on a tray. It was delicious!!!! It was a nice evening with him. His wife and son are visiting friends in NC and SC so will be back on Thursday.
It's raining here now so not sure what our plans are. I may try to get some pages made of this summer trip or maybe last year since that is not done yet either. I have a basket to finish too

Have a wonderful Sunday .

Morning, all. Some how I didn't make it back in here to post yesterday. . . . . . I was busy scrapping Color Play LOs. Then called my sister to make sure she was okay. Amarillo, TX got flooded - both I-40 and I-27 were closed in spots due to floods. Her area was okay, thank goodness. My area is having a break from the monsoon rains right now but they will start again on Tues - Friday. Of course, that means the temps will be in the high 90's for the next couple of days. Yes, the A/C is running at midnight most nights.

DD#1 has been at her son's house the past couple of days but will be back here today and tonight. I pulled some Mexican Goulash out of the freezer for supper tonight. (Ground beef, chopped onion, salt, pepper, garlic, chili powder, canned corn, canned diced tomatoes, elbow pasta and top with cheddar cheese) Yes, it freezes and defrosts well - I add the cheese after we heat it up.

Oh, yes... I can't run the microwave and toaster (or my George Forman grill) at the same time... it pops the circuit breaker every time. This house is fairly new (10 yrs old) - but our other house had the same problem. Thank goodness I can run the toaster and coffee maker at the same time... :D:floorlaugh:

We bought a front loader washer when we moved into this house.... NEVER AGAIN!!! The washer/dryer are in a utility room. Good thing, as I have to leave the door open all the way - and use the washer cleaner in it to keep it from getting a musty smell and transferring it to the laundry loads!!! Plus - it only handles small loads (2 plush bath towels, 2 hand towels, 2 washrags)... and it doesn't spin all the water out of them so it takes over an hour to dry!!! What I save in using less water is spent in longer dry times for most loads and I have to do more loads of laundry. I will go back to a top load washer when the front loader quits. As it is only me - I don't need a washer to handle big loads... just standard ones.

Time for another cup of coffee and get dressed. HAGD

YEAH!!! Love good sleep. I love the window open and fan on too. Its just bliss for some reason. I have about a month left to enjoy it and then it will get too cool at night to be comfortable.
The patio is all finished and we can put the planters back today. Yay!
Woot Woot!!!! Put up the deck chairs, sit back and relax!!!! So glad its done and you can enjoy it now. Hope you find the perfect poles for the bird feeders.
@AK_Tracy -- so much laundry. :thud: I bet you were thrilled when the kids were old enough to do their own!
What did you end up doing yesterday? Anything fun? Or did you chill all day? Which would be fun too!
I'm a mean mommy. I started my kids on their laundry at 7 years old. Yep, old enough to reach, old enough to do it. I would still remind them, time to swap the laundry. Did you fold it? But for the most part they've been doing laundry since they were young.
@AK_Tracy your family sure does use the machines, how many kids live at home with you???
There are five of us still in the house. I'm the only girl (besides dogs) and so its usually heavy clothing, jeans, sweatshirts, work clothes. So yeah, we did go through the machines.
and it doesn't spin all the water out of them so it takes over an hour to dry!!! What I save in using less water is spent in longer dry times for most loads and I have to do more loads of laundry
I agree. I was told to always use the "extra rinse" option on the front loaders as the lack of water doesn't always get all the soap out. I also use about 1-2 tablespoons of soap not the full cup like they say.

Yesterday was uneventful but mentally taxing. Its almost time to start school again and so I started the process of organizing and lesson plans. Its an easy but tedious job. Each subject comes with lesson plans but I choose to make life easier for all of us by putting those lessons in one place. So I have to transfer all the data to one lesson plan book. Makes life easier when sons looking at what to do for the day. He can see what needs done in one place. Plus I had to figure out how to reduce ten days since the lesson plan was 180 days and we only do 170 days. Then how to figure out the three on one off schedule and work it around vacations and special events. My mind was numb so I went outside and read a book and didn't make dinner. Told them all I would cook today but last night was FFY. (Fend for yourself).

Off to get more coffee and feed the dogs before church. Have a wonderful day!
