Happy weekend, my dears!! I wish more than just about anything there was some way to send you my weather. It's not going to last very long, but it's a perfect summer morning. 64*F and blue skies (ignore the 87% humidity). It will get into the 80s later but that would feel frigid compared to what many of you are experiencing.
So here, I am taking some deep breaths and pushing the air toward you all.

wind-face-nature.gif

I have a small update on the house offer. Because the sale is by the owner, the offer and contract have to go through the sellers' attorney before they can officially accept. The lawyer will have it on Monday and then we'll see. But it is looking promising. ♥
I also spoke to my brother for almost an hour about my parents, that was fun. :hahano: We have to sit down with them and tell them that they simply cannot play games with us. Plus we need to get on the same page with their wills and wishes and all that. I know that they have everything updated and formalized but I think they told us different things or one of us is remembering wrong/wasn't fully updated. He thinks we are co-executors and I know for sure that I told my parents I felt it was easier/simpler for my brother to be the sole executor.
My BFF had a potential mess on her hands last week when her mom's financial planner asked for a copy of the Power of Attorney papers. She couldn't find them and the attorney that did the will had passed away and BFF didn't know who actually had all of her mom's papers. Her mom is not in her "sound mind" so it would have been a nightmare to figure that out. Thankfully, it worked out by sheer luck but hoo-boy-- SMH!

As always, if anyone has advice on how to best navigate any of this, I truly appreciate it.

This morning is FP and then I have to stop at the store to grab some Oreos and vegan butter. Tomorrow is Tom's birthday so I am making him dinner and a cake. Oreos are vegan, isn't that crazy? That was one that I was shocked to learn. I am making a chocolate cake with an Oreo "buttercream" frosting. I had several dreams last night that it was Tuesday and I believed his b-day was Wed. I thought I was making his cake on Wed but had to scramble to get everything ready on time.

Have a fantastic weekend!

@vickyday Thank you for the good house thoughts! I will be happy if it works out because they will be only 10 minutes away. I'd love for them to buy the house across the street but even I have accepted that isn't the healthiest way for them to start their marriage -- *me peering out the window* Did she get home from work ok? Do you think she needs to borrow sugar? :lol23:
I bet the house will feel quiet when Abby is back home but how happy you must be that she wants to stay as long as she can. What a great LO and I love the photo progression!

@bcgal00 Blergh!! What a totally unsurprising mess of the price increases from Telus. I hope that you have some decent options with the other provider.

@Cherylndesigns LOL! I don't know how well we can keep the Ooos on track but I know we will do our best.
Cute and cozy is the way I have been describing the house to everyone. It's 2 BR, 1 bath, has a cute porch and small deck in the back. A fenced yard which makes her happy because she wants weekend "custody" of Whisky. ;) It's 2 floors and the main BR is a decent size. It's much, much bigger than the condo we bought when Gary and I got married. It has more cabinets and drawers in the kitchen than we have here. Although that's not saying much. *G*
And did I mention is only 10 minutes from me?? Hahaha!!
Did Casey show up? I change my cleaning days occasionally but I always check in on Monday with my friend to confirm.

@BrightEyes Holy SLEEP! :holysheep: :giggle4: Good for you! I am in the "waking at 4.30 every morning rut" ATM so I am pretty dang jealous! I am really happy for you that you are able to scrap again. It must have been hard to know that it would be too painful for you to do that - and for such a long time.

@Nonni F Thanks for the good mojo!

Mark and I really need to get wills made. We keep saying it, but.......
It wasn't a problem with my first husband since everything we owned came to me. But with mixed families involved now, we really do need to get something in place!

Good Saturday Morning!
We have 60's temps this morning. Mark is in the woods (how surprising is that!). Abby is up and showered much earlier than usual, so I think she is ready to go home to see her family! I will get my shower and then make sure she has everything gathered up and maybe stop to get some donuts on the way to her house.

Other than that, I will be doing the usual Saturday laundry.

I got the bird bath up yesterday. My first visitor (that I noticed) was a mockingbird just drinking from it! I washed up the bird feeder yesterday and hung it out to dry. Today I will add some bird seed and keep it fairly close to the bird bath and see what happens! I am hoping the squirrels stay out of everything, but I doubt it! I love watching them.......when they are in the yard and not in my feeders! GRRR!

OK, time to get my shower so I can take my Abby home to her family!
Have a great day!

Good morning, OOOOOs.

It's a beautiful 79 degrees atm. Not sure what it's going to get up to, but our humidity is low, so it doesn't feel too bad. Adrienne and I are going to go run around this afternoon. All of the kids are in Florida, so it's been quiet around here. They're in the Delray/Boca area, on the East side. I've gotten a few cute pictures.

Yes, Chris @faerywings I had to laugh when Kay @BrightEyes said that we'd keep all of the gals on track for each day. I guess she's right - between the two of us, we can do it. Today is Sunday, right??? :floorlaugh: The cute and cozy house sounds perfect for Cait and Tom and I hope they hear something by Monday. Who knew Oreos were Vegan??? SO weird. Hope the cake turns out to be delicious and you even DREAM the WRONG DAYS!!! Help us!! :rotfl::lol23:

Vicky @vickyday I'm sure you'll be sad to take Abby home. I'm glad you've had such a great time together.

Hugs to all who come after me and have a good SATURDAY!!!

Hope everyone will have a great weekend. We had rain late last night and woke up to 69F this morning!! dance4 I opened the house to let the coolness in. But... now it back up into the 80's and heading to the high 90's. (sigh)

Been busy this morning getting 3 LOs uploaded to galleries... yes, they are the ones I was dreaming about a couple of days ago. Going to take today off from scrapping as I need the break. The hands ... and the brain... need time to recuperate.

No, I didn't get any books to read from the libraries. Turns out the Senior Citizen Center's library will be moving into a different room soon so most of the books are packed in boxes for the move. But on the good side... I discovered a 3 book series by Nora Roberts in my stash that I have not read!!! o_O :dancing6: Not sure how I missed them but that gives me books to read this weekend.

DD#3 is calling... BBL

Good morning ladies. I've been out with the dogs this morning and the wildfire smoke is heavy today. I'm staying indoors most of the day. I might pop out to the mall later for a few things but maybe not. It's one of those lazy days. This wkend I'll work on loading my info into the cruise app and then start figuring out excursions for Europe. I need to read the tour guide info about Barcelona Spain first so I can see what sites are important that we visit.

@faerywings Fingers crossed for the kids to get the house. I'm sure it's like torture for them to wait all wkend to hear.

@vickyday Wish I was there to see them coming to the birdbath. Our feeder is about 3 feet from the bath and the birds love it.

I'm going to go get more coffee and get on with my day. HAGD everyone.

Happy Saturday! What a beautiful day it has been. I have some of Chris's weather and I feel like it's the first decent day in months. First thing I did this morning was open all the windows to let some FRESH air in. For those of you still with those triple digit temps my heart goes out to you. This year has been insane with weather.

Chris, I wish I had some words of wisdom to help you with your parents. I really do. After my Aunt's passing two weeks ago, my other Aunt (my father's baby sister) is now in the hospital. My cousin and I have been doing all we can back and forth.. most of them are wheelchair bound and in frail health. My father is the oldest and as been saying a lot lately, "I'm feeling pretty damn good around these two." Which my Uncle Don is NOT entertained by. It's hard and it's sad. To think we thought our parents were SO OLD when we were ten.

Shhhhhhh........
I hate to complain but I am cold. :brrr: It was 59* when I got out of bed. In fact, I was so cold because of the ceiling fan that overnight, I had pulled all of the blankets and comforter up and Whisky and I had snuggled underneath to stay warm.
Again, I wish there was some way to share this with you. So much wacky weather and scary how hot it is in so many places.

It was incredible yesterday and I didn't get outside at all. That's gonna change today. Cait and I went to the FP and then the smaller grocery store to get the ingredients for Tom's dinner and cake. They didn't have everything so we went home, unpacked, and then headed out to the other store. We needed vegan butter, Beyond Burgers, and Oreos. When we got there I realized that I didn't have vegan burger buns so we snagged them too. Got home, unpacked, and guess what we forgot?? The oreos! *slaps forehead* We had an open box of them-- I needed 20 and there were 15. I decided that was close enough and left the package on the counter.
Poor Scott... He came into the kitchen and saw them- "Oh, Oreos." He went to take one and there was Crazy Mom: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You would have thought that he was a 2 yo about to touch a hot stove :rotfl: To make up for it, I promised him I would buy Oreos this week even if they weren't on sale. (whew, they are!)

Other than a few things around the house, my plans are to be outdoors as much as possible. I asked Gary if he thought he'd be up for a hike this morning, it is perfect weather for it. Yard work and watching the bees are also on the docket.
I guess it's a good thing I was up at 4.30 again. Lots of time to do everything
I need to get done, eh?

What good plans do you have today?

@vickyday I hear ya, we don't have wills or life insurance either. Other than whatever equity we have in this house, we don't have anything of value to give to our kids. They all know my preferences for organ donation and a green burial but there is nothing legally binding. Mixed families have to make it a little "sticky." (Probably way more than a little sticky). When my grandparents passed - both my mom's and dad's sides- the families became vultures and my own parents were left with next to nothing other than what was specified in the will. My dad's cousins came into the house and walked off with everything, my uncle and his kids did the same with my mom's parents' house. You have to be so darn careful which is such a shame. That is part of the reason why my mom and her sister don't talk to my uncle. :(
How did you do dropping Abby off? Will she be back before school starts? I know that many schools start earlier than NJ- it's usually right around Labor Day here.
How wonderful that you are already seeing birds in the bath! Good luck with the squirrel and the feeder, I think they know how to get around even if you try to booby trap them LOL

@Cherylndesigns I am so happy that you are getting a small respite from the brutal heat. How are your plants holding up?
you even DREAM the WRONG DAYS!!! Help us!
OMG, I didn't even realize that until you said it that way. I mean, I knew it, but now that you put it in context... Help us is right! :floorlaugh:
When will the kids be back from FL, I can only imagine how quiet it is with them away.

@BrightEyes Yipppppeeeeee for the cool morning breeze!! dance3 When was the last time you opened your windows? The fresh air must have felt amazing, I wish I would have lasted longer.
I am glad that you recognized that you needed a day off from scrapping-- and that will give me a day to catch up with you. :multitasking: Nope, that will *never* happen. *G*
What a nice surprise to find some lost books in your stash. Have fun reading.

@bcgal00 So sorry that you have that smoky air. How did the excursion research go? Does the cruise give you specific options or can you go out on your own? And wow, how do you choose? I'd want to see everything.

@Nonni F I hope that your morning is as nice as it is here in Jersey. I love the fresh air too.
I am truly so sorry that you are going through elderly family health issues. It's really hard. They want so much to do everything they used to be able to do. I think they forget that they are as old as they are (I know that I do re: myself. BFF and I were talking about how her DH is eligible for *retirement!* :thud: Granted, he is a state employee and can get a pension after 55 - but still!)
hehehe, I can imagine how Uncle Don is not amused but I bet your dad, as the older brother, gets a kick out of teasing him.
Hope that your aunt is doing better and will be released from the hospital.

Yes, it's sad to see how some people act at their "loved one's" passing! Human nature kicks in pretty hard, unfortunately. When my parents passed the only one living near them was my younger brother so he had to deal with everything. I got a few things but I wish I had taken more because my brother basically dumpstered everything else.

Good morning,
Quick in and out this morning. Need to get my shower and get ready for church.
Mark and I rode the bike to supper last night and then went in a spiral on the back roads until we ended up back at home. Great weather for the ride, too!
I filled the bird feeder yesterday but have had no visitors. I may have to move it back to the tree off the deck before they realize it is available again.
Have a great day!

I am amazed every damn day how old I am. I don't know if it comes from still hanging out with my high school BFFs (who for the record will agree they have all deteriorated quicker than me. In their defense I was a tomboy and my friends are guys, who all played football...and lets just say... I can move faster than them!) OMG! I've become my father with Uncle Don. lol
As with many families ours is fractured... so it was so good to see my father, and his brother.. .acting like kids together.
I hope your parents "listen". Maybe agree to tasks they can still do so they don't feel helpless.
No big plans here today. We're going to be short staffed at work for the next three weeks so I might just say right where I am and enjoy the day......

Good morning.

It looks like I missed the funny "Uncle Don story". I went back and tried to catch up, Nonnie @Nonni F - sounds like you and your cousin have your hands full. Most are wheelchair bound. :( I can relate to being a tomboy and having mostly boy friends and the two girl friends I had were also tomboys. We played baseball almost every day. I think that sets your body "clock" to stay younger. Hey, as long as you FEEL young - that's what matters. I refuse to grow up! :lol23::lol23:

Chris @faerywings your weather sounds amazing! Enjoy and OMG - how can the two of Us keep this group on track if you even dream wrong days? We have to work out a better system. It's SUNDAY.........it's SUNDAY........it's SUNDAY. :floorlaugh: Well, it's darned quiet around the ranch with all the kids gone - kind of depressing, actually, to not have the revolving door. They won't be back until next week - well, Ava is actually coming back sooner, because she's got to work - that nasty 4 letter word. She's been trying to work from there, but, who can work when you're going to the beach every day? Roger left this morning to go back to Florida for his job. He'll be gone for at least a week - SO it will be a skeleton crew around here for a couple of days. I suspect Adrienne will be spending time here. She hasn't been totally alone for a long time. One of the kids is there, at least. We talked about having dinner together but she asked me last night if I wanted to go see The Sound of Freedom and I have a feeling she'll want to go tonight. She and Roger already saw it but she wants to see it again. The local theater was so packed that they had to sit on the front row and crane their necks. I told her if I went, I wanted to get our tickets online because that's miserable to have to sit that close. My flowers are hanging in there - I have to water my ferns about every day, because even though we've had some rain, they're hanging under the porch covering and they don't get any of it. I water the others about every other day. My trellis is almost completely covered with my vines that I just planted this year! I'll have to take a picture for you. It's SO pretty!

Hello to Kay @BrightEyes - glad to hear you're getting some cooler morning air, hello to rae @bcgal00 and Vicky @vickyday hpe you all have a good day! :wavinghello::grouphugyay:

Good morning ladies. A nearby wildfire has made our air very smoky today so will be staying indoors aside from running an errand later. No pool today for me. The fire is about 6 miles from town on the south side. It is a huge area that I go birding in. Evacuation orders have started. It won't reach us but some of our friends will be evacuated. It makes me sad that even if no homes are lost, such a large area (700+ hectares) has been destroyed and a huge birding/wildlife area will be devastated for years as regrowth starts. This is the first fire that actually hits kamloops since we moved here. So scary. So it reminds me that I need to have evacuation bags ready with easy access to important papers, photos, etc.

I was out too much yesterday and felt the smoke in my lungs, making me tired and a bit winded. I ended up taking a nap in the afternoon for a few hours. Today I will try to be more careful about outdoor time. I'll play indoors with the dogs more and decrease the outside play today. I finished "I Will Find You" by Harlan Coben. I enjoyed it. Now I'll go back to continuing Fairytale by Stephen King.

@faerywings The cake sounds delicious.

@Nonni F What a beautiful view you have of the yard.

@Cherylndesigns Enjoy the performance if you go tonight. Take a photo of your flowers, I live vicariously through all of you with greenery. We are too hot and dry here for anything to grow.

I'm getting coffee and getting on with my day. Enjoy your Sunday.

Morning, gals. Yep... another day of sleeping until 9 AM... I really needed my :coffeedrinker: this morning. Think this is going to be a "PJ and do nothing day". I got side-tracked on reading "The Guardian Series" by Nora Roberts. There was a short excerpt from "The Obsession" at the back of book 1 of the series. As I had it in my collection, I switched over and read it yesterday afternoon. Ready to read book 2 of the series today. ;)

@bcgal00 So sorry to hear about the fire so close you. Yes, staying inside away from the smoke is the best thing to do. I haven't read either "I Will Find You" by Harlan Coben or Fairytale by Stephen King. Like both of those authors so will see if the library has those books.

@Nonni F what a beautiful backyard!! And you look so cute with your 'buddy'.

@Cherylndesigns Hope you aren't too lonely with most of the family gone. Enjoy the quiet time as it won't last long. They will be back soon and will be dragging you out and about.

@faerywings I bet you scared Scott out of his wits with your scream of "nnnnnnooooo" over the Oreo cookies! :rollingpin1: I almost spit out my coffee when I read that!!!

Well, the coffee cup is empty. Off to get my book and settle in the recliner for the day.

@faerywings The cake sounds delicious.

I am going to go take a picture of my trellis right now. I hope we get to go to that movie - it's selling out theaters everywhere.

Sorry you're having the fires again - be careful out there.
