Happy holiday weekend for the Canadian and the Americans.
Has everyone had a great start so far?

We had a nice time with the neighbors last night. Not much else going on here until Monday when our friend comes down to visit and BBQ.

What plans do all of you have?

well, despite being friday exhausted, made it through dance. Woke up to natures fireworks- where did my sun go- humid here. I am cleaning the kitchen and prepping the bedroom for painting and laundry. Mr. Gorgeous is hanging sheetrock and doing an amazing job! Love that man. I have discovered I left my minitab charger at work, so sometime this weekend will need to go pick it up, or just not use it- ummm not. I am planning carts to put under my 10' by 28" wide counter to make it into a giant rolling work surface in my craft room. Figure I can make two carts and offset them from the ends having 5' unsupported to sit at and 5' supported. Hard to explain, but lowes had 1 cart 3 ways in their latest weekend project flyer and I thought, wow I could use this to make my space even more functional. Time will tell. I need to get to work, but wanted to wait for storms to pass before I used the washer/dryer! I want to create this weekend too! No parties or get togethers- this is what I hate about moving so far from family. But I guess I am connected to my O fam- so I will let you know when the strawberrywine/lemonade mix is ready- and the hot tub of course!

Good morning!! A gorgeous morning here so hoping to get out for a walk with my MG. Last night we went to Victoria to see a movie and ended up being stuck on the Malahat for a couple of hours because of a terrible accident. The Malahat Drive is a beautiful drive, but goes through a pass that is immpossible to detour around so if there is a car crash you are basically stuck until they get things cleaned up. Here is a link to where I am talking about if you are interested.

The only other way to get around the Malahat Drive is to take the Mill Bay Ferry, but of course we had already passed that point when the traffic accident happened. On the left is a tab with Duncan on it that is where I live.

Today we are doing the drive again to go to Costco to get stocked up on things we need. The freezer is almost empty and before we know it the kids and grandkids will be here for a visit, so we must have food!!

Laurie - hope you enjoy your quiet weekend, wish I could join you for a drink in your hot tub!!

Chris - have fun with your BBQ when your friend arrive!

To everyone else who pops in here... have a wonderful weekend and Happy 4th of July to my American friends!!

Good morning ladies. I am feeling a little under the weather today due to a little too much wine last night. It was fun though, so I'm good with feeling like crap. Gotta get some food in my belly and that will make a huge difference I think. I have lots of packing to do today and tomorrow. Okay...turning on the music and packing. Hugs!!

Good morning ladies! (Only 11:45 a.m. here in Iowa) I started a long weekend yesterday. Not going back to work until next Wednesday. :-) Dad called at 7 yesterday morning and mom was having a lot of trouble breathing. Jumped in the car in pjs and barefoot and was down there in 3 minutes. Sister-in-law and brother were coming across the driveway. After getting her some meds, I was able to come back home and get Syd to gymnastics by 8:30.

Then, when gymnastics finished, Syd and I went back to Mom's to relieve Dad so he could go watch my nephew play baseball. They won their 75th consecutive high school game...which ties them for the second longest high school baseball winning streak ever. Still chasing that number one and they have 4 more regular season games before starting district tournament play.

I ordered a scanner last weekend...paid for overnight delivery. It never showed up. Fed Ex said that the package was delivered at 11:30 last Sat. Brian & Shaun were home...Syd and I were at Mom's. The doorbell didn't ring. There was no package later that day. When I called to complain, they said that the driver had delivered it. Usually I'd fight but right now, with everything going on with Mom, I'm just going to take the $85 loss and not buy through Amazon.com again until I have strength to fight these kind of battles.

Today is starting better. We had a cousin sleepover last night...only my youngest niece came. Then we all got up and went to the Farmers' Market where we grazed for breakfast. Very, very tasty! Later going down to the folks to swim. And think I may find a scanner at a store...where no one can steal from me. ;-)

me thinks i spoke too soon about having nothing going on yesterday.
It was a family revolving door all day. First my mom came up with bagels for breakfast. Then my IL's came up for a couple of hours. Scott had been bugging me that we haven't had a flag up in a few months. Our old one had gotten ratty so we brought it over to the post office for disposal. We had a small flag (the ones on a stick) out front but it was not good enough. My IL's bought him a flag and brought it up so he could have it flying for the 4th.
Then several of cait's friends came over. And my brother came up with Christopher for dinner.
Another one of Cait's friends came over to see the baby and they are now sleeping upstairs. LOL

It is raining right now, so its gonna be a clean and then scrap day for me.

Hi Laurie- wow- you have lots going on at your house. The cart idea sounds very cool You'll have to post pics as the project moves along.
Strawberry wine and a hot tub sounds amazing! Hope that you were able to get out there and relax.

Trudy- oh wow- the Island if gorgeous!! I am sorry that you got stuck but the scenery is amazing.
When is the family coming for a visit?

Clara- hope you felt better soon- good luck finishing up that packing.

Linda S- sending huge hugs to you. That is not the way you want to start your morning. Mom is having a tough time? :( I am glad that your family is all so close, both physically and emotionally. But how hard it must be on you all.
My fingers are crossed for your nephew and his team!

hugs to everyone!

I just had to come back and post the rest of my day yesterday. Mom is having a harder time with things. I had gone into Des Moines to buy a scanner. While there I was near the camera shop and stopped in just to browse. I walked away with a 50 mm prime 1:4...I think I'm in love. Then off to the pool shop to get a thermometer for the pool... Was about 2 minutes from home when I got a call from Dad... :help:

The Fed Ex gal stopped at their front door at 8:30 in the morning. Dad couldn't hear her back in the family room (they don't have a doorbell) so she left a sticker about the package. It had Mom's meds from hospice. I got on the phone to Fed Ex and they said that it wouldn't be coming back to the station but they would deliver on Wednesday. :scared:So I called back and told them the situation...couldn't wait until Wednesday! They were very nice and told me that I could meet the driver in another town about 25 minutes away and pick the meds up from the truck! So that's what I did.

It all worked out. Then I spent an hour in the pool with my two kids and two of my nieces! We laughed and splashed and raced and made memories.:D

Wow- Linda- your family and delivery do not seem to be working well lately. I don't like fed ex for that reason- anyways I have primed this morning- off to make breakfast for mr. gorgeous- then tape the trim and move the bed so I can paint the wall behind it! It will be so nice to be done- I will post pics of before, after trial paint that has been there since february and was not okay, and final pics!!

Linda- praying for your mom. I have painted the room once and need to go do the second coat so I can put it all back together! yikes! Then I am going to sit and scrap if I can get my fingers to cooperate!

Wow...Linda!!!! What a day!!! I am sorry about your Mom sweetie!!! (((HUGS))) Here if you are in hospice, the hospice people bring the meds to you...if you call them and need something...they will be out within a couple of hours. That's how it worked with Mike's Dad.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO about the lens!! YOU WILL LOVE IT FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure you post us up some photos!!!!! here in the forum!!!!!

HI HI everyone else!!! As many of you know...my life is in an upside down mode....

I think of you all everyday!!! and I love you all very much!! and I appreciate the support you have given to me!!!

The reality of the moment is I am a total MESS...I have to start seeing my counselor again and get back on some meds to cope!! NO CHOICE at this point!!! My kiddos are going to start suffering if I don't.....

I hope you all have a wonderful 4th...I am trying to lay very low and do NOTHING!!!

Hi everyone... just heading out to go to my great nephew's 4th birthday party. He is visiting with his dad so my sister is thrilled that he gets to be with them on his birthday. Birthday boy's mom is my sister's daughter and they have not spoken to each other for many years, its a long stupid story  so I won't go there :hand:. Looking forward to seeing my great nephew as he lives just as far away as my grandkids and kids do.

Nana Linda - its good to see you in here again!! We miss you and love you too, but know that you must get your life back together before you can be more active here.

LindaS - My heart breaks for you that you are having to worry so much about your mother!! to you my friend!!
